VMware installation for BPC 7.5NW

Dear All,
Please let me know what are the prerequisites to install VMware for BPC7.5 NW.
how to get VMware software with license?
Also pls share installation guide for same.
Thanks.
Regards,
Chavi

Hello Chavi,
Differently from the information Sctott has, there are some notes explaining that VMWare is supported for BPC 7.5. It is just not a good idea to use it in production so I agree with Scott thant this should not be used in production. See below:
- Note "1098847 - Virtual Machine Support for BPC" explains that virtualization for BPC is covered by Generic Support Statement for Virtualization (note 1492000 - General Support Statement for Virtual Environments).
- Note 1492000 says that it is supported but if an issue cannot be resolved, SAP can request you migrate to a non-virtual environment. Please note that in this note you have some restrictions and other important information, so it is very important to read it carefully.
You might want to check notes "1409608 - Virtualization on Windows" and "1599679 - Supported application virtualization for BPC client" as well.
It is good to read all these notes and the first one also suggest Virtualization on Windows, but personally I think having your production environment virtualized can generate performance issues and you can be asked to install it in a dedicated physical machine.
Hope it helps
Debora

    Hi Nilanjan,
    Thanks for ur valuable inputs and quick reply. I have maintained the Dim's and Properties as per document.
    1. In Account Dimention maintained property called ELIMAC that I kept as blank ( is it ok?)
    2. In Entity Dimension maintained property called "ELIM has given the values as "Y" against the G_CG1 under this two entities are there  im not maintained Elim as - Y against the entity parent level(G_CG1) I have given.( is it Ok?)
    3. In the DataSrc Dim what kind of member ID's I have to maintain?
    I maintained Total, Input, Debit1, Credit1, Total2 Debit2, Credit2 . (pls correct  me if im wrong)
    I  have 4 entities 101,102,103,104 ..how ever two entites as one group(G_CG1) and G_CG2
    In script logic i have maintained standard, Business rules...what needs to be given as source and destinantion accounts.

  • Using a variable in an allocation routine in SAP BPC 7.5NW

    Below is a very simple BPC allocation routine I wrote.  The data originally sits on a dummy profit center and needs to be allocated to all itu2019s relevant profit centers. These relevant profit centers can be derived from the profit center hierarchy (BPC_ + ID of entity).
    When I hardcode the Profitcenter and the entity, the routine works (as below). But what I really want is that it works variable as in the line that I commented out. Any idea whether this could work (BPC 7.5NW)  ? If not, I am afraid I need to go to ABAP, which is really a pitty
    //ALLOCATION PROCEDURE CONVERSION RATE
    //=====================================
    *RUNALLOCATION
    *FACTOR=1
    *DIM SEBACCOUNT WHAT=CONV_RATE; WHERE=<<<; USING=<<< ; TOTAL=<<<
    //*DIM PROFCENT WHAT=DUMPC; WHERE=BAS(BPC_"%ENTITY_SET%");USING=<<<; TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM PROFCENT WHAT=DUMPC; WHERE=BAS(BPC_OKB);USING=<<<; TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM ENTITY WHAT=OKB; WHERE=<<<; USING=<<< ; TOTAL=<<<
    *ENDALLOCATION
    Thanks
    Nico

    Gersh,
    It works now. I have implemented the below code (ENTITY needed to contain the variable as well). The relationship profitcenter and entity is very important as it derives the relevant profitcenters from the profit center hierarchy (e.g. all profitcenters under the legalentity node).
    //ALLOCATION PROCEDURE CONVERSION RATE
    //=====================================
    *FOR %ENT% = %ENTITY_SET%
    *RUNALLOCATION
    *FACTOR=1
    *DIM SEBACCOUNT WHAT=CONV_RATE; WHERE=<<<; USING=<<< ; TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM PROFCENT WHAT=DUMPC; WHERE=BAS(BPC_%ENT%);USING=<<<; TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM CATEGORY WHAT=FCSTCUR; WHERE=<<<; USING=<<< ; TOTAL=<<<
    *DIM ENTITY WHAT=%ENT%; WHERE=<<<; USING=<<<; TOTAL=<<<
    *ENDALLOCATION
    *NEXT
    Thanks

  • Transport of Security objects in BPC 7.5NW

    As a part of NW BPC transports, changed the entries in table UJT_TRANS_CHG. For the 1st transport (from DEV to QA)wanted to transport ALL objects including Security and Teams. So, selected 'Development' for ALL objects under this table.
    After the transport collection via tcode UJBPCTR and importing into QA, found that 'Users', 'Teams'  and 'Task Profiles' did NOT transport. 'Member Access Profiles' did transport to QA.
    I expected 'Users', 'Teams'  and 'Task Profiles' also to be transported. We are on SAP BPC 7.5NW, SP4.
    Am I missing something here ?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi
    we had the same problem and didn't know if Security objects could be transported, but we found the BPC User Mass Management Tool.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/d0cdbccf-0def-2d10-298d-f4223de9a6ed&overridelayout=true
    This could help you to export the security objects in DEV and import the objects in PRD.
    The transports you need for the ZUJE_MASS_USER_MGMT   Programm you found on page 46 in the document mentioned above.
    Please let me know if we could help you.

  • BPC 7.5NW Report Issues When Requesting Year To Date Data

    Dynamic reports built with 2 row expansions (Cost Ctr, Account) up to 3 columns (not expansions, set to different categories with excel formulas for variance calculations...Act vs. Bud for example) result in error messages (error retrieving data and another related error messge) when requesting YTD data vs. Periodic data.  The report runs fast and properly with Periodic measure.  When running with the YTD measure, attempts to reduce the report data volume by removing comparative categories and removing formatting (after ranges) still results in YTD data retrieve errors.
    Has anyone else had similar issues with BPC 7.5NW, SP9, and YTD data not pulling into reports?  What are the common causes for issues with YTD data retrieval?  Given the design by SAP of the BPC NW product and promotion of using BPC for both Periodic and YTD data, should I expect this report to work properly, meaning that I can get output with YTD data without long runtimes or errors that result in terminating the report?  Thank you.

    Hi,
    This would do it :SQL> !cat q.sql
    with t (dt, val) as (
         select to_date('2011/01/04','yyyy/mm/dd'), 123 from dual union all
         select to_date('2011/04/09','yyyy/mm/dd'), 234 from dual union all

    where dt >= trunc( add_months(trunc( &&dateexec. ,'month'),-1) ,'year')
    and dt < trunc( &&dateexec. ,'month')
    undefine dateexecThe dateexec parameter is just here to "simulate" sysdate of different points in year.
    <i>(your actual query would have sysdate where the dateexec parameter appears)</i>
    SQL> @q
    Enter value for dateexec: sysdate
    DT                         VAL
    07/01/2012 00:00:00        678
    13/05/2012 00:00:00        789
    19/07/2012 00:00:00        890 sysdate does the current year up to previous month.
    SQL> @q
    Enter value for dateexec: to_date('20120122','yyyymmdd')
    DT                         VAL
    04/01/2011 00:00:00        123

    23/12/2011 00:00:00        567when ran in january, it retrieves all the previous year.

  • BPC 7.5NW consolidation error

    Hi,
    We are using BPC 7.5 NW version (7.50.04). We changed standard dimension 'GROUPS' to dimension type 'R' and included it in our legal applications.
    We are using below logic to run both currency conversion and legal consolidation.
    *RUN_PROGRAM CURR_CONVERSION
          CATEGORY = %C_CATEGORY_SET%
          GROUP = %GROUPS_SET%
          TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
          RATEENTITY = GLOBAL
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    *RUN_PROGRAM CONSOLIDATION
        CATEGORY = %C_CATEGORY_SET%
        GROUP = %GROUPS_SET%
        TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    The standard data manager package with process chain 'LEGAL_CONSOLIDATION' fails with error message 'Member "G_CG2" not exist'. G_CG2 is a member of GROUP dimension. When we executed the below logic (with hardcoded variables) in BW transaction UJKT, it worked fine and posted values correctly.
    *RUN_PROGRAM CURR_CONVERSION
          CATEGORY = C_100
          GROUP = G_CG2
          TID_RA = 2008.DEC
          RATEENTITY = GLOBAL
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    *RUN_PROGRAM CONSOLIDATION
        CATEGORY = C_100
        GROUP = G_CG2
        TID_RA = 2008.DEC
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    Any idea, why system is not able to recognize 'G_CG2' when we use data manager package? In BPC 7.5NW, is it mandatory to use both 'R' and 'G' type dimensions? SAP Help has different contradictory views !!!

    Hi Nilanjan,
    We are using 'GROUPS' dimension of type 'R'.
    The above dimension has members of both GROUPS and CURRENCY (ex: G_CG1, G_CG2, LC, USD etc).
    1) Run currency translation for 'USD'. The logic works fine if i change it as follows:
    *RUN_PROGRAM CURR_CONVERSION
    CATEGORY = %C_CATEGORY_SET%
    CURRENCY = %GROUPS_SET%
    TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
    RATEENTITY = GLOBAL
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    2) Run currency translation for 'G_CG2'. The logic works if i change it as follows:
    *RUN_PROGRAM CURR_CONVERSION
    CATEGORY = %C_CATEGORY_SET%
    GROUP = %GROUPS_SET%
    TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
    RATEENTITY = GLOBAL
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    3) Run COI for 'G_CG2'. The logic works if i change it as follows:
    *RUN_PROGRAM CURR_CONVERSION
    CATEGORY = %C_CATEGORY_SET%
    GROUP = %GROUPS_SET%
    TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
    RATEENTITY = GLOBAL
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    4) The logic is executed successfully from BW UJKT if i hardcode the values for 'GROUPS' dimension.

  • Do we need to Upgrade existing BI 7.0 to EHP1 for BPC 7.0 NW.

    Can BPC 7.0 NW be installed as App Server with EHP1 and then use our existing BI 7.0 as the database.  Or will our BI system need to be upgraded to EHP1?

    Tania,
    There are two basic configurations of BPC NW with regard to BW at customers:
    1. Install BPC on the existing/common Netweaver BW platform (with Ehp1 and at least SP03/05 - depending on version) - this is most common at customers that are either quite aggressive with their application of BW support packages and enhancement packs, or customers who do not have an existing BW installation and are primarily installing BW to support BPC version for Netweaver.
    2. Support two BW instances: One for the datawarehouse and one for BPC version for Netweaver - this is the most common architecture at customers who already have a mature BW installation and who wish to manage BW support pack and enhancement pack application without being constrained by BPC's requirements.
    Another reason we see this type of architecture (#2) is because of incompatibilities between add-ons - for example SEM requires the FINBASIS add-on that is incompatible with Ehp1, so you can't run SEM-BPS/BCS on the same system as BPC version for Netweaver. I hear that technically you can do it by overriding the Ehp1 installer but it is not supported and should not be attempted. The release of Netweaver Ehp2 complicates the matter even further, since it is unclear if BPC is compatible with Ehp2.
    As far as the question of whether it is too much overhead, that is a question that is going to need to be answered on a customer-by-customer basis. It depends on your budget, the maturity of your datawarehouse, your basis and BW management practices, and the maturity of your support organization, among other things.
    If you had a separate BW instance for BPC, then you would still need to load data into that instance directly in order to load to BPC. You would probably want to think of your BW instance for BPC as a datamart separate from you main BW datawarehouse.
    Hope that helps,
    Ethan

  • Can i use free VMWare ESXi for commercial use.?

    Hi,
    I know that this question have come up before but I can't find any
    definitive answers. Can i use free VMWare ESXi for commercial use. We
    would like to host
    several customers on a machine running  VMWare ESXi. I want a clear answer so we can do it without any further discussion.
    Thank you all in advance,
    LNN

    If you plan on renting out a VM, then you need to look at the hosting programs - http://www.vmware.com/solutions/hosting/index.html.   The base EULA for ESX and ESXi do not allow for the rental of VMs but I believe it may be possible to get an exemption to that.
    http://communities.vmware.com/message/1016993#1016993

  • BPC 7.5NW - Client SP6 - Unable to log in to clients on older versions

    REPOSTED UNDER BPC 7.5NW FORUM
    Edited by: Sunil Narahari on Mar 7, 2011 2:04 PM

    I'm having a similar problem with 10.5.2 Leopard server and client -- no Tiger involved.
    I have the green light on the login screen and am able to log in as an OD administrator, but regular OD users are rejected with a login window shake. I never specified any home directories because they were auto-generated on machines locally when I logged in with the OD administrator.
    Apple phone support were able to duplicate my problem and had me do an Enterprise Data Capture. Apple engineers were also able to duplicate my problem. Here is some of what phone support emailed me:
    +I got a reply from engineering. They said they were able to duplicate the issue with a 10.5 up to a 10.5.2 client with no home directory specified. The only current workaround is to set up an automount location for home directories and specify a home location place for the users. The clients do not have to be bound to the server, they just need to have a home folder directory specified.+
    +Engineering is aware of the issue and are working on it. For now this is the only workaround we have.+
    I haven't had a chance to try this Apple workaround, but maybe it will help you.

  • The sql collation for bpc

    Hi everyone,
    I am installing bpc 7.0 based on sql server 2008. However, the database is also working for ERP and ERP must use the collation
    "SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_BIN2". According to my experience, the collation of database for bpc is always "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS". who knows if bpc must use "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS"? Actually, I meet an error "can access 'master' database..." while installing. Thank you.

    I have set up a new instance including a new database engine and a new analysis server and used the correct collation. However, after I install bpc, I check the log file, it is like the following
    Installation Status
         Diagnostics: Done
         Create AppServer Database: Done
         Create Sample Database: Done
         Create Sample OLAP Database: Done
         Setup Management console: Done
         Starting BPC Send Governor Service: Error
         Starting BPC Insight Service: SKIP
    Then I check the new analysis server, there isn't the apshell cube. However why the log is "Create Sample OLAP Database: Done", and why "Starting BPC Send Governor Service: Error"?

  • Measures:YTD behavior in BPC 7.5NW

    All,
    Has anyone come across this?
    When I execute EVDRE and use measures, my PERIODIC and QTD are working fine. But YTD is working incorrectly and the behaves just like QTD. Account I am doing is for EXP account. I am on BPC 7.5NW Pack 4. Any help is appreciated?

    Hi Danny,
    You can try changing the text description of your application in the admin console and resaving it, which should reset the delivered measure formulas. However, I wonder if there is something wrong with your time hierarchy. How is your Time dimension hierarchy set up?

  • NIC config of VMware installation of Call Manager

    System version: 8.6.2.22900-9
    VMware Installation: 1 vCPU Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2609 0 @ 2.40GHz, disk 1: 80Gbytes, 4096Mbytes RAM
    A few month ago we had a vendor come in and upgrade our old VOIP system with a VMware solution of Call Manager. Versions are shown above.
    I use Veeam to backup these VM's and it was taking hours to finsih so I starting digging into VCenter to look at the netwroking setup.
    Even though the server has gigabit ethernet cards they "hard coded" the speed down to 100 Meg and changed the duplex to half.
    Does anyone know of any reason why they might have done that? Will it fail if I change the speed to GB and utilze full duplex?
    thanks...

    Joe...
    Questions and a comments
    Questions in the post above you mention...
    "At this point, I would probably try the Hypervisor and Switchport hardcoded at 1000/Full to match CUCM. Check interface counters and watch for errors and runts."
    When you refer to "Switchport" I am assuming you are you talking about the physical port on our physical switch?
    which is interesting becasue I just looked only to discover that on our physical cisco switch (Catalyst 4506) that our phone system is physcally plugged into our 10/100 module and not into our gig module. So even if I made all of those changes I still would have been at a 100 MPs speed becasue of the physical connection to our switch. So obviously... I would need to change ports on the physical switch to the gig module, correct?
    question 2...
    monitoring the ports for errors and runts, again I am assuming you are talking about the physical Cat 4506 switch?
    Assuming then I move the connections into gig ports 5/26 & 5/28, etc...
    From a telnet session into physical switch... after enable mode type...
    switch#show int gigeth5/26
    and I will see stats from that interface correct? or do you look for these in a different mannor?
    comments... first of all, thank you....
    second....
    I am not sure I quite understand anything about you very last post.... about the restricted UC and Cisco support..
    yes, I am running USC C220 M3 servers... are you saying that if I have over 1000 users that TAC will not support performance issue? I ask becasue we only have about 125 users....
