You will have to contact VMware directly on licensing and support or a partner of VMware.
Media will be provided by VMware once you buy the licenses.

  • Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment with BE7K and VMWare license

Hello, I am looking for some help trying to figure out if Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment can be used to upgrade our existing 7.1.5 cluster.  From what I have read there is a API problem with the VMWare license that comes with the BE7K.  But after reviewing the BOM/quote from my VAR it lists the foundation license which based of the release notes is supported.

Search for “Business Edition 7000” and it will state it is not supported with PCD.  It is because the licenses that the BE 6k and 7K are shipped with don’t enable certain VMware APIs that PCD needs.

Thanks Jamie for repsonding, we haven't made any purchase's yet but I wanted to ensure we are purchasing a solution that won't lead to a lot of frustration.  We only have 1000 phones so we are pretty small and the BE7K seems to be a good fit and value.

  • Tip: Where is VMware License of my BE6000 ?

Due to any reason (accidental factory reset or ungraceful shutdown),  you may run into the issue of VMware  eval License warning. No need worry, VMware license is shipped with all BE6000 boxes, provided it was orderd as BE6k bundle such as "BE6k-ST-BDL-K9'.
Locate the envelope marked as “Cisco Vmware vSphere Hypervisor 5.0” in the shipping box. Locate the card titled as “Right to Use Notification” in the envelope. Note down the Master serial number, which is the license activation key.
In the vSphere client, Navigate to Configuration > Software > Licensed Features , and click Edit Select Assign a new license key to this host. Click the button Enter Key... and type in the Master serial number noted in previous step. Click OK to close configuration dialogs and apply the license

Thanks Joe for quick response. I guess somebody just used 3.0.1 eval to install before. I searched the system and found there is one directory: Ciscoworks 3.0\eval and there are cm.lic, dfm.lic, ipm.lic, rme.lic. When I open these files, I see there is "Evalution" word in every file. Also I find there is another lic file in the current program files directory called "LMS20090903071445912.lic". 20090903 is the last time when they installed the Ciscoworks. Should I use this LMS20090903071445912.lic file? There is no evaluation word in this file and this file includes all components licenses we bought.
    Thanks.

  • ISE VMware Licensing

We are deploying ISE on a Cisco UCS platform.
    We have obtained the folowing:
    ISE-VM-K9=
Cisco Identity   Services EngineVirtual Machine Image
    L-ISE-BSE-5K=
    Cisco Identity   Services Engine
However do I need any additional VMware licensing such as:
    R-VMW-UC-FND5-K9
Cisco UC Virt. Foundation 5.0   (2-Socket 32GB vRAM)
    Regards

    Stewart,
As far as deploying the UCS you may need to reach out to the UCS team for this question. I think when you purchase the UCS that vmware licenses come with the box, however I do not know this for sure.

  • UCS-E VMWARE licensing for VMWARE ESXi 5.1

NAME: "UCSE Server Module on Slot 1", DESCR: "UCSE Server Module"
    PID: UCS-E140S-M2/K9
I have this module installed in my router.  We have installed customized VMWARE ESX 5.1 image on the module.
Question:  How do I get the license key?

    Hi Seb,
That's the 2 port 8gb fibre card. I've got one in use on a PC based 5.1 install. The 81en and 84en are also supported (1 port and 4 port)
If you're based in the uk feel free to get in touch as I can probably get you a good quote on one of the cards.
    All the best

  • Need new backup solution for vMware vm's

    Anthony,
There are a number of products out there that will meet your requirements. For example, depending on your VMware license you could use VDP. There are other vendors who leverage the VMware host API to get VM snapshots. StorageCraft offers a software solution that will back up your VMs and store them in your data center or on portable media. We create byte/sector level images of your systems that you can quickly restore to the same or to a new environment (like moving from Hyper-V to VMware) or mount as a shareable volume for easy file/folder recovery.
Whichever solution you choose, be sure to test it in your environment so you know it will meet your specific needs and budget. Let me know if you have any questions about StorageCraft products and applicable discounts.
    Cheers!

Greetings:I recently became in charge of our server infrastructure and I'm trying to figure out the best backup software for our needs. We currently have BackupAssist to handle hyper-v vm's, but I will be migrating all of them off and will solely have vmware vm's.At my previous job they used vranger for backing up the vm's an backup exec for the shared data drivesCurrently we backup everything to usb drives (firesafe/water proof) with backup assist, but I don't think this will work well with vsphere. We have 3 hosts with 5 cpu's total and might add a 6th cpu sooner or later.I'm looking for a backup solution that won't break the bank as we don't have a huge budget. I do work for a University, so education discounts would be great.I've looked into veeam, but haven't tested it nor have I priced it out.The servers are in a data center, so...

  • Using ARD to audit License Keys

Scenario: The company I work for has a lot of VMWare Fusion licenses that have not been tracked. The license number exists within a text file in /Library/Application Support/VMWare Fusion/ folder.
Is it possible for ARD to be able to audit not simply the number of computers running VMWare Fusion, but to specifically report the License Keys from all of the installs?
If it's not built-in then I would imagine that this can somehow be scripted, but my knowledge of AppleScript is limited. If I am correct that this is the route to go, does anyone have any recommendations on where to start looking? If it is possible I wouldn't be surprised if someone has already created something like this, but so far google hasn't helped.
    Thanks all!
    -Scott

Well not exactly an automated process, here's what I was able to do without using applescript or customizing any built-in reporting features. I hope it helps someone besides myself...
    VMWare Fusion 3.x stores it's license info in /Library/Application Support/VMWare Fusion/license-fusion*
Version 4.x stores it in /Library/Preferences/VMWare Fusion/license-fusion* (I may be remembering the pathnames slightly wrong, so confirm on your own system - you'll know it when you find it -- same goes for the command below).
You can use ARD to issue commands to clients via terminal, so I did this to have every selected client email my address with the full license file. It includes what version they are running, plus the license key (amongst other info from the file that may or may not be useful to some people):
    cat /Library/Application\ Support/VMWare\ Fusion/license-fusion* /Library/Preferences/VMWare\ Fusion/license-fusion* | mail -s "VMWare License" [email protected]
This will send the full content of the file for either 3.x or 4.x (and error within ARD of "no file found" for the opposite) to whatever email address you specify, from the email address configured for the client computer. This will allow you to know what license number is running on what system. You can then use this emailed info to assemble a list manually. It may not be assembled in a nice & neat ARD report that can be imported into other apps (such as HSTracker, which is a nice tool btw), but it *will* save you the time of having to visit each workstation -- this will allow you to gather all of this information (albeit in a raw form) without leaving your desk. It can then be compiled in whatever method you need (for me, manually entry into HSTracker and then linking to the computers it's installed on).
Again, I hope this helps other people, and if anyone uses this and discoveres anything else that's worth sharing I would appreciate it. In case you find something that I didn't.

  • New to VMWARE. Need some help

I am wanting to set up a home network with a server and I have no idea which way to go. I have an older Dell R710 server as well as a Dell R510. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Ahem, yeah you need to define your goal, requirements and budget for this setup. What do have in the way of network and storage gear etc. What vmware product are you thinking of using? You can setup a cluster of two hosts. Shared storage and vmware licensing will likely be your biggest spends.  I'd hate to advocate an inferior product but HyperV may be a cheaper way to go but I'm a little stale on what consumer level products vmware produces anymore as all my work is in vsphere.

  • BE on MCS v7 migrate to BE6000 on UCS

I have a client who has a 100 single MCS server based Business edition running version 7. Currently they are covered under UCCS/ESW nearing the end of this 3 year agreement.
What is the correct migration path to take them from V7 to BE6k on UCS.  Looking possibly to add some redundancy.
Customer has CUCM/Unity Connection/Presence/Attendant Console applications.
From the SE session I believe I could
buy 2 50 or 100 user bundles or buy 1 bundle and a
migration bundle for the redundant server with all the software preloaded.
If I purchase 2 50s, this gives the active publisher a total of 100 users during normal operation?
My question is is the migration bundle a deep discounted sku that acknowledges the investment of the existing BE version 7 and MCS hardware, or do I have to go through the technology migration path to get value for the existing hardware and licenses?
Is this even the correct roadmap, from v7 or do I have to first upgrade to v9 on the existing hardware under the UCCS support terms, THEN migrate to UCS hardware?
    Thank you.
    md

    You have mulitple options.
    1.  AS you described in the question, buy two 50 bundles will let you have a publisher with 100 user license, and a subscriber server.
    2. Just buy one starter bundle, and use the MCS server as you back server.  Please check the MCS server is supported in 9.0. In this case, you will need to upgrade the MCS server with 9.0 SW.
The migration program includes mulitples parts:
    1. Migration bundle is discounted with its price just around $1K higher than the listed bare metal server price. and with pre-loaded OS and VMware. It also comes with the free VCS licesnse (5 travelsal license + 10 non travesal ),  5 CC agent license and required VMware license.
    2. Don't need to purchase new license.  Just migrate them. What really matters is the migration discount on license.  With the 9X3 migration promotion, you can migrate you licesnse to BE6000 for $9 per license if 3 year UCSS is purchased.
    3. Use the MCS server as reducndancy server or run other applications.
    4. You don;t nee to upgrade to 9.0 first ro be able to migrate.
We are going to publish a white paper for migration ery soon. Please stay tuned.

  • Dell Servers with Nexus 7000 + Nexus 2000 extenders

<< Original post by smunzani. Answered by Robert. Moving from Document section to Discussions>>
    Team,
I would like to use some of the existing Dell Servers for new network design of Nexus 7000 + Nexus 2000 extenders. What are my options for FEC to the hosts? All references of M81KR I found on CCO are related to UCS product only.
What's best option for following setup?
    N7K(Aggregation Layer) -- N2K(Extenders) -- Dell servers
Need 10G to the servers due to dense population of the VMs. The customer is not up for dumping recently purchased dell boxes in favor of UCS. Customer VMware license is Enterprise Edition.
    Thanks in advance.

To answer your question, the M81KR-VIC is a Mezz card for UCS blades only.  For Cisco rack there is a PCIe version which is called the P81.  These are both made for Cisco servers only due to the integration with server management and virtual interface functionality.

  • Getting error when using PCD 10.5.1 for "simple" migration.

    Hey guys,
I'm currently migrating from 9.1.2-X to 10.5.1 and when I look at the VM in the new migration (the 10.X), I see the following error on the console "The hardware you are using is not supported for this product. Installation will now halt".
I made sure I have the right licenses for the host and gave it extra resources because this is the second attempt on this migration.

    Hi,
what is the PCD Hardware and UCS Hardware for migrating to 10.5.1 u are using ?

  • Support Hyper-V for ACS 5.x

    Hi,
I would like to give ACS a try, but my infrastructure is now build on WS 2012 Hyper-V. As I don't have any VMWare licenses and am not planning to get any either, I would like to know. Can ACS be installed in a 2012 Hyper-V VM?
If not, anyone an idea if this is ever going to be implemented?
    Thanks for your feedback

ACS5 does not support NIC "bundling" (teeming, etc).

  • WLC upgrade

hi! I'm planning to upgrade my WLC5500 from version 7.0.x to 7.6.x.
I've 2 WLCs with one served as a Primary and the other one as a Backup Unit. Currently all the APs are associated to the Primary Unit. The APs will only fall back to the backup WLC when the Primary unit failed.
    My question would be:
    1) Can I upgrade the Backup unit first, and move a few APs to the backup unit to make sure everything is working before I upgrade the Primary unit?
    Will that plan work fine?
    2) If my WLC is out of maintenance contract, can I still do this upgrade? Does it work like those VMware licensing, whereby I need the license to go from 4.x to 5.x?
    Thanks.

    1) Can I upgrade the Backup unit first, and move a few APs to the backup unit to make sure everything is working before I upgrade the Primary unit?
I've got a better idea for you.
    1.  Upload the new firmware to the two controllers.  DO NOT REBOOT the primary controllers when you are prompted.  You can reload the secondary controller.
    2.  Save the configuration.
    3.  On the WLC with all the APs, go to Wireless > Access Points > Global Configuration.  Scroll down to the bottom under the heading  "AP Image Pre-Download" and choose "Download Primary".
    4.  Go Monitor > All APs and click Details and scroll to the right-hand.  Look under "Download Status".  Wait until all the APs have their respective "Download Status" to DONE and then you reload the primary WLC.
What will happen is the APs will be loaded with the new IOS.  So the APs and WLC will reload simultaneously and cut your wireless outage to a bare minimum.
