VMWare Not detecting Harddisk

Dear All,
I am new to VMWare environment.
I installed the VMWare on my local Vista OS.
Now when I am trying to create a new VMWare Virtual Machine by clicking the "Create Virtual Machines" under Virtual Machines tab, the VMWare is not detecting the Harddisk size on my PC.
Please find the attachment "VMware.jpg" & "VMware2.jpg"  to view the issue I am facing.
Much Appreciate your help on this one.
Thanks,
Madhu K.

Hi Madhu,
The issue could be that ur ESX server cannot yet see the disks.
Try scannning the storage from the Configuration menu -> Storage Adapters -> Rescan

  • Solaris 10 X86 With Symbios 22801 is not detecting harddisk

    HI
I have installed Solaris x86 on SUN FIRE V20z Machine. I have added additional Scsi card SYMBIOS 22801 before installation. At bios level I can see the disks getting intialised but at os level it is not.
I tried booting with fail safe ( 32 bit kernel) . At this level I can see the drives attached thru scsi card ( symbios)
How can can make it detect from 64bit OS?
IS there any patch / driver available to detect the drives.
    Thanks

First of all, I'd like to say that despite not being
able to use my network card, view DVDs, use my sound
card or laser printer with Solaris 10, I am extremelySound Drives for just about anything are found here:
    http://www.opensound.com/
Drivers for some less common or fairly new networking here:
    http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/eng/
DVDs, well, technically that's illegal in most countries without licensed software. You can thank the people behind software patents for that. However, I have played DVDs on my system, but it wasn't pretty getting it working, in the end I removed it and have relegated all DVD playback to that famous Toy OS since Surround Sound, etc. support is far better there.
    10. If I ever learn enough assembler to write device
drivers for Solaris 10, I may put in my 2 cents as
far as helping out with h/w support as well.I don't know of any drivers written for modern operating systems in assembler, they're almost always written in C. Sometimes they may contain assembler, but that's not the guts of them.

  • USB devices not detected in VMware [SOLVED; Using Virtualbox instead]

I am running Arch as a host and XP on VMWare workstation 7.  My primary purpose of installing XP on VMWare was to use my edit my Line6  POD (behaves as a usb sound card) and get my USB TV Tuner box to work. The big problem that I am facing is that VMWare is not detecting any USB device (not even my USB Hard Drive).
I have the usb controller installed.
    Any suggestions?

I don't know vmware but with other virtual machines there is often a configuration option whether usb drives should be automatically mounted or not. Sometimes automounting also only works if the vm has the focus, i.e. is the active window.

  • ThinApp Packages not Detected by Workspace

I have a VMware Horizon View 6 Proof of Concept environment. I have configured ThinApp within View and added some packaged apps. I have assigned these ThinApps to a desktop pool and they are successfully pushed out to the virtual desktops when users login. So from that point of view I am happy the ThinApps are working OK.
However, I have just installed Workspace 2.1 and it is not detecting the ThinApp packages. I have enabled View Pools within Workspace and it detects my desktop pools OK. I have also enabled ThinApp packaged applications and pointed it at my ThinApp file share. However, every time I try and manually sync (or the automatic sync runs) from within Workspace I get the following error:
Push is scheduled to take place:
    Every day at 11:55 pm
Error occurred in Packaged applications (ThinApp) sync. Please check if Packaged applications (ThinApp) configuration is correct and the share path is reachable.
The /var/log/messages log on the virtual appliance contains this:
2015-01-08T09:54:14+00:00 XXXXXwork01 ThinAppRepoService: t@349c7700: Starting import cycle from share (\\XXXXXview01.viewtest.internal\ThinApp\).

2015-01-08T09:54:14+00:00 XXXXXwork01 ThinAppRepoService: t@349c7700: Ending import cycle (0 app scanned, 0 app processed).
So Workspace is successfully connecting to the Share but cannot detect any of the ThinApp packages. I have tried rebuilding one of the ThinApp packages with the "Manage with VMware Workspace" option ticked, but the package still isn't detected. The permissions on the file share and the packages look correct.
What do I need to do to get Workspace to detect the ThinApp packages?

Thanks very much! That fixed it!
I was starting to tear my hair out over that one. All I had to do was stick the ThinApps in subfolders.
    Thanks again!

  • USB 2.0 Stick not detected on USB 3.0 port

Hey, When I plug in an USB 2.0 Stick into the USB 3.0 port of my T550, it is not detected. USB 3.0 harddisk works. I am working with Windows 10 64 bit.BIOS is updarted to the newest version. Thanks!Nathan

Hello.  This is Kimberly from the customer experience team at Lenovo. Sorry you are having an issue. The product manager for T Series suggested the following:   We assume that the USB 2.0 drive you are trying to connect functions in another computer.  It is probably a formatting issue or a USB Registry Key Conflict.   If reformatting the USB drive doesn't work, search for USB registry cleaner tools online to remove any conflicts/corrupted USB registry keys.  Also, Microsoft may have some support tools to clean the USB registry keys

  • Desktop Manager not detecting BB via USB

Ok I have an issue... this never happened before, but its really annoying now lol
I hope someone out there has had a similar problem... the friggen answer is probably staring me right in the face, but i'm just missing it.
Anyways only my Blackberry Desktop Software will not detect my Curve 8900 via my USB cable on WIndows Vista 64-bit.  When the cable is plugged in, the phone charges, I am able to access my memory card that I have in the phone within Windows without a problem.  Its just the Desktop Manager will not find the phone via USB.
The phone works fine connecting to Desktop Manager using Bluetooth.  I can sync up no problem there.  Its just the Desktop Manager will not find the phone via USB.
Let me stress the fact that use used to work... I don't get why this has happened.
Nothing appears in my Event Viewer, I get no error messages.  The same phone, with the same USB cable works just fine on a Windows XP computer.  Hell, it even works on the same computer, within a VMWare environment using the same USB port tried on the Windows Vista installation.
I have tried all the steps listed at this link:

    Hello prot0fein,
So I take from your post that the device and the computer communicate but only through your VM on the computer or using mass storage mode on the host.  Am I correct about this?
Can you tell me what devices in device manager appear/disappear when you connect and disconnect your device on the affected computer?
Also, have you tried this article?

  • IPod Touch, not detected in Windows or iTunes...

First of all, hello to everyone...
i want to say that i read a lot EVERYWHERE about my issue and still i couldnt find a solution...
the problem is easy, i have a 3rd gen ipod touch, OS 4.2.1 now fully working... but, it's not detected in windows or itunes, as simple as that, and as u all have read in lots of other posts...
my ipod is now working because i took it to an apple store and they charged it in a MAC and they had no problem at all. the MAC detected the ipod, with all its content and my ipod's name...
but when i took it home -this has been hapenning since maybe... 5 MONTHS!-, i plug it in my PC and nothing happens...
ok, first of all, my spec... win vista home premium 64 bits, last version of itunes...
i tried ALL the solutions provided in APPLE official support page, and nothing happens... that means:
1- completely uninstall itunes and then reinstalling it... i ALSO FORMATED my entire hard drive twice!!!!
2- tried all USB ports and even an entirely different PC and nothing happened
3- bought 3 different IPOD to USB cables and nothing happened
4- tried setting ipod to restore, that way itunes SOMETIMES detected the ipod but i coulnt restore because of different error codes, so i had to take it several times to apple store to "unblock" it...
the only way it works -detection and charge- is with MAC computers or dock systems such as an iHome my gf has thats the way im charging it now, but otherwise it wont work...
i would really appreciate any help, since idont know what else to do!!
    thx in advance!!

HI I was having some other problems getting my itouch to restore because it was not being recognized in itunes and kept erroring out. Now it has finally restored after I updated all kinds of drivers and removed and reinstalled itunes and apple software a million times,(yes this is all after installing itunes 8.1 and paying for an itouch upgrade as well) Now itunes says it cannot do anything with the ipod because it is getting an invalid response from the device. So it won't put anything back on my itouch or even show that I have plugged it in. I emailed tech support, If I find anything out I'll let you know, will you do the same for me?

  • DVD-Audio and "can not detect sound blaster card" with Audigy2 Va

I recently purchased an "Audigy2 Value" card from an eBay user, because I recently purchased some DVD-Audio discs. I downloaded the Audigy2 drivers from the website, and the Creative MediaSource player. 5. Surround sound worked fine for me, though sometimes the driver would reset to the default 2/2. sound and I would have to re-select 5. sound, which was annoying.
Then I was completely unable to get the MediaSource player to recognise my DVD-Audio discs, and the EAX functionality of the player would never work. The EAX logo never appeared in the player. When I tried installing the MediaSource player from an install disc, I got the message "can not detect sound blaster card". Then I discovered the world of EEPROM problems.
I followed advice from some other threads, including using ScanPCI to get information on the card, which yielded the following result.
When installed on my machine (Asus A7A266 motherboard) the ScanPCI reads:
    Vendor 02h Creative Labs

On another machine (specs unknown, it's a "house pc") I got this (with 3 entries!):

    Device 0002h EMU0K Audio Chipset (SB Li've!)
    Command 0004h (BusMaster)

    New Capabilities List Information :
    Power Management Capabilities

Current Power State : D0 (Device fully-operational, no power saving)
(Just a note: above you can clearly see that it does not say I have an Audigy, it thinks it is a SBLi've. Is this normal? The card IS an Audigy 2, it says so on the card.)
So, I put the card back on my own PC, thinking this has fixed my EEPROM, but I get the same as before. Subsystem ID 0002h. And of course the install software will not detect the card.
I realise that I could go back to using the web drivers, but this still leaves me with MediaSource not recognising the card and not enabling DVD-Audio or EAX, which is why I bought the card in the first place!
I have heard that the VIA chipset is possibly to blame for the EEPROM problems on the Audigy cards, and certainly it seems like it is not permanent, since it gave different information on the other PC. So now I am seriously considering getting a new motherboard.
Do other motherboards cause this same problem? I don't want to buy another board and get the same trouble. All I want is to be able to install my MediaSource and have it recognise my card so I can listen to my DVD-Audio discs.
    Cheers,
    Russ.

Figured out my problem. Installing the drivers from the web to begin with was a bad idea. They just did not work properly with the card.
The "card not found" problem has gone as well, after installing it in another PC. I am also using the proper install disc now, as the other one I was using turned out to not be for the Audigy 2 value after all, but was an Audigy 2 install disc. That easily explains the "Card not found" error. The differing results from the ScanPCI program are still bizarre, though.
Thanks to all of the people on the forum who posted information in other threads to help me deal with this issue. For now I am sticking with the original drivers from the disc and I am not upgrading.

  • Hard disk not detected once, but now working?

    Hi,
I'm Zak, a bit of techie when it comes to playing with software, or re-assembling computers and whatnot. Unfortunately I've got no clue about some other things.
A bit of quick history on my notebook: The fan has been making terrible noises the last few weeks. Initially I thought it was some dust so I got some duster. A lot of dust came out, so that can only be good, but the noises came back after a few days. After some searching I figured the other logical explanation was probably the hard drive going bad. I'm hesitant to send it back to HP because I use it for all my university work and it would really set me back a few weeks to not have it.
So, a few days ago, I booted up my notebook to a "hard drive not detected" - or very similar - message. There were a few options, for f1-f4, they were system information, and 3 different tests (I think). I ran the tests, each one came back fine, noting that there was no OS installed, or hard disk to boot from. I rebooted because I hadn't quite seen it boot up, and wanted to see if there were any other options. Turns out, it started up fine. I restarted once more and again, it did fine.
Next, I scrambled around, backing up all my data, getting together warranty info, installing the HP Support Assistant, etc. I ran all the tests from the Support Assistant and there were no problems detected. Since then I've just been hibernating the notebook when I stop using it, and I haven't encountered any unusual trouble. It all seems fine, but my warranty expires Dec 7th of this year. Is it safe for me to assume the "hard drive not detected" error was just a single misfire? I've read a lot of threads and FAQs on it and it doesn't sound like something that just happens once and goes away. On the other hand, I've never had to use a warranty so am unsure quite how the process works, and like I said, sending it anywhere would put me back in my work.
For the sake of a full post, I have an HP G62-367DX Notebook, running on Windows 7 64-bit OS, and as far as I know there were no changes made between the error and my prior boot. If there's any other information I can provide, just let me know.
Cheers, thank you very much for any assistance, and good day
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The tests from the Assistant are not as comprehensive or reliable as the full hard drive test in the BIOS....tap F10 as you power up, go in there and find the hard drive test. Run the long form test and see what is says. It is not unusual for hard drive issues to start as intermittent and gradually get more frequent. If your drive passes the long form test you can fairly safely assume it was a one-time gremlin of some sort, but it is still a real good idea to back up. I like the idea of the online backup services and I will name Carbonite only because it is well known and not as an endorsement. There are several more and an external drive is also a good idea.
You cannot put off a reboot forever; you are going to have to confront the issue at some point.

  • Windows 8 and Server 2012. Not detecting network is a domain.

    Hi Guys,
I hope I have posted this to the correct forum.
I have 2 x Windows 8 PCs that do not detect that they are connected to a domain (network location awareness not working). I can join them to the domain but they still don't recognise the network as a domain. Instead they identify it as "private".
Other PCs on the network (Win XP and Win 7) work prefectly, just the windows 8 machines don't work.
Also, when I do join them to domain I also receive this message.
"changing the Primary Domain DNS name of this computer to "" failed. The name will remain xxxx.local. The error was: the specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. "
    I have tried the following
     - DHCP and DNS has being tried both as static and dynamic (can ping DNS server which is the domain controller Windows Server 2012) .
     - Updated PC NIC drivers.
     - No AV is installed on either server or PC.
     - Updated PC to windows 8.1.
     - Disabled both server and PC firewalls.
     - Check NLA service and all dependent services are running.
     - Disabled all adapters on server except for one.
I am really hoping someone can help with this as I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks.
    Shaun

    Hi Guys,
I managed to find a solution to the problem. I noticed that the DNS server zones did not look quite right. The _msdcs zone was missing the subfolders (dc, domains, gc, pdc).
To fix this issue: on the NIC adapter I had to tick the box "register this connection's addresses in DNS" (found under TCP/IP v4 > advanced > DNS tab).
I then had to remove the DNS role, reboot then re-add the role. Problem solved. Hopefully this saves someone else pulling their hair out for an entire day.

  • Photoshop CC 2014.2.1 not detecting my dedicated GPU

When I open Photoshop, I get the following error message:
"3D features require a minimum of 512MB of vRAM. Photoshop has detected less than that on your system.
Updating the driver of your graphics card may resolve the issue."
I am running a laptop PC with an integrated graphics card (Intel HD4600) and a dedicated Nvidia GTX 675M with 2 GB of vRAM.
I switch between the two adapters with the press of a single button, for power-saving purposes.
I always run at high-performance with the dedicated GPU active when running Photoshop.
I run the latest driver from Nvidia, and in the Nvidia control panel I manually set the preferences for Photoshop to utilize the dedicated GPU. But it still does not detect my main graphics adapter.
I checked the system information in Photoshop and cannot make sense of it. Why would it be unable to detect the GPU when every GPU demanding software I have run so far (a lot) have been able to..
I have checked google and the very forums and found the problem in various forms with no real solution for it so far. Hopefully someone on these forums can help, considering I am paying a monthly fee for the program and the support that comes with it

But as mentioned in my initial post, I deactivate the integrated graphics adapter when using Photoshop, or any software that demands decent graphical processing power.
I only have it activated when in power-saving mode. And of course I update to the newest display drivers via the GeForce Experience or through their website.
Point is, I have never had any problems with any software whatsoever in detecting the proper GPU and utilizing it's power. The only software unable to register my dedicated video card is Photoshop.

apparently something to do with permissions not activated for adobe, not sure how and why this happens though, or why it was fine earlier and suddenly stoppped.
they insisted it was to do with being on a wifi connection but that's not possible because i have my laptop right next to my desktop and that was working fine.
it took about four hours to fix though, so be patient!
