Vmware vsphere update manager client 5.1 update 3 fails to install
Hi guys,
I tried to install VMware vSphere update manager client 5.1 update 3 to upgrade the old client (5.1 update 2) and keep failing without any visible error. I notice that right after start installing sun java runtime environment the installation fail and the rolling back process start and abort the installation. Did any of you have experience this before? if yes what is the solution.
vCenter 5.1 update 3 Build 2306353
ESXi 5.1.0,2191751
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Had the same problem.
Seems to be no solution apart from uninstalling 5.1 U2, then installing 5.1 U3. (worked for me)
It's the same problem as this KB: KB2092290, which remains unresolved.

Based on my research, this update package only applies to Windows 7 and Windows server 2008 R2. Windows 8.1 doesn't support this update.

Error Message reads: "Adobe Acrobat Updater Certificate failed to install."
I am unable to make any updates to my Adobe programs (including creative suite CS3). Everytime I try, I type in my password, but I always get the same error message: Adobe Acrobat Updater Certificate failed to install.
I believe this is happening because I actually inherited my Adobe programs, including the MacBook Pro the programs are installed on. The owner used to be a relative who, sadly, passed away. I thought I had changed everything to be under my name as the owner, but having never done it before it's possible I missed something? Perhaps my relative's name is still recognized as the owner?
Please help as this is wreaking havoc in many "little" ways...
Thanks.Had the same problem. Found two updaters on the computer. Go to "applications/utilities/adobe utilities". Threw away the folder "Adobe Updater5". Ran the "Adobe Updater6/Adobe Updater.app". Problem gone.

Smpatch update ALERT: Failed to install patch
I do not even know where to start. Since installing Solaris 10 0606 it
seems every time I try to patch the system I get failures of one type
or another. One problem today has to do with zones:
"To install the new instance of this package in all zones you must
first remove the existing instance of this package from the global
zone first (via pkgrm) and then install the new instance of this
package in all zones."
If sun already knows a pkgrm must be run why can't the smpatch command
just do it?
Another problem seems to be
For patch 121018-03, required patch 120759-04 does not exist
If sun knows a patch is required which is not on the system just Getit
and install it.
Also, what is up with having to reboot the box to install patches?
Why? Has this always been a required step? Do these reboots pertain only to kernel patches .etc?
I have seen other postings in this forum expressing unhappiness with
the patch system, some mentioning testing lab/group or certification
issues. I think smpatch should have an option to send smpatch results
back to sun for review. That way the Certification Group could have
real life situations to investigate. Or do they know the problems
already and just dont want to fix them? Just once I would love it if
smpatch came back with no failures and I was assured the system was
patched, up to date and secure.
Regards

#Enterprise users have strict policies on change management so dependent patches are not automatically installed when using "smpatch add". Neither are packages blithly uninstalled for zones if currently only existing in the global zone.
For your needs using "smpatch update" should analyse, download and install dependant patches in order for patches specified on the command line or for a global update. Note that that is with the exception of patches not matching the currently defined patch policy such as those needing a reboot. See the smpatch man page for information on policies.
Patches requiring reboots or being installed in single user mode are primarily for kernel and driver patches.
Your problems installing the Sun Studio 11 patches have been encountered previously in regards to globally installed packages (and are covered in this forum) and is due to a combination of bug ID's 6337009, 6214678 and 6374972 for the patching utilities of which the last is still open.
You will currently have to manually install the patches using patchadd with the "-G" flag whilst in the global zone to install them in the global zone only. -
Photoshop CS6 update is failing to install
The Photoshop CS6 update (uisng the Adobe Application Manager) is failing to install. It download correctly but halp in the install it fails without any errors. What is the solution to fix this.
TIAI'm having the same issue and your tech support told me that there is an issue with the update(s) and wireless connections. I switched to wired and the same issue exist. On the page from the link you posted, there is no update for Photoshop CC CS6 BUT the Adobe Application Manager AND "updates" within PS says that there is. I just signed up for CC 1 app but if you cannot support the end-user(s) any better than this I will cancel my membership.

Apple's latest update to iTunes failed to install on my computer with Windows 8.1 64 bit. I have reinstalled in many times, removed Itunes via Control Pannel, etc. etc. No luck. Tried to go back to an older version, but all of the installs try to install the latest version. I suspect there is a problem with this update and vesion.

Why does Acrobat Pro 11.0.7 updates repeatedly fail to install?
Why am I suddenly getting the error every time autoupdate runs? This just started. I tried uninstalling as directed. When I try to download my previously purchased COMPLETE application, nothing happens. Downloading from the Adobe site gives me an application that Adobe wants me to spend $14 on EVERY month. I've already paid for this application once - I'll be damned if I will pay again. I run Mavericks 10.9.5. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have a solution?
Try http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (or MAC). With XI, you just go ahead and install the latest. It indicates the update applies to any previous updates. For previous versions of Acrobat. most of the updates had to be installed in order. When you do the installation, be sure to be logged in as the administrator (as when you installed the original XI) and have anti-virus disabled.

Running on a MacBook, OS 10.5.7. Have Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium (can’t bring myself to upgrade to CS4, yet $$).
I am trying to install the 13.0.1 Update for Adobe Illustrator CS3, but keep getting an error that “The update cannot be applied to the product”. I am trying to update from version 13.0.0 which I had to reinstall due to Update failing to install updates because of components being missing. The components where likely missing because they did not come over from backup (Time Machine) after installing a new hard drive.
Here are the last several lines from the Console log for the installer. I think it has the information needed to answer my question, but I don’t have a clue. I can dump more lines if needed, but I don’t know how many will be accepted here before my post starts to get truncated.
I hope this doesn’t mean that I have to wipe out CS3 and install from scratch.

Yes i would say this means the easiest way to fix this is probably reinstall since the updater does not think you have a legitimate copy of Illustrator running.
Even at that you might have to contact Customer Service if you have difficulty activating or running. if I were you I would reinstall the whole suite.
BTW knowing you have to activate your license to the Creative Suites to install on different computers would you not think that this would be a wise choice when installing on new hard drive?
I would keep this in mind for the future just a good safe policy and way to avoid trouble.
Creative Suite retained the activation, so that it not the issue - especially since the other applications (DW, PS, ID, etc) are not doing this. I'll try removing AI and then reinstalling. Now to the fun of making copied of my custom menu and settings. Happy happy joy joy.
As for deactivating prior to changing the hard drive, I can boot from the original hard (in an external enclosure now) so I could have deactivated that way if need be. I have enough experience with computers 20+ years to be wary of making changes prior to upgrading. I appreciate your time, but I didn't come here to be second guessed. -
Smpatch update ALERT: Failed to install patch 121616-02
I am getting various Failed to install patch alerts when doing smpatch update. Many patches are aparently applied successfuly, but others are not. I do not have Sun Support since it is my personal X86 box. Are other people getting these failures? If so, what is done to investigate / fix the problems? If I had support what would Sun recommend be done to correct the problem? Should smpatch always run clean with no errors? Regards.
I will post to the other forum as well, but I can't think of a more "general" Solaris discussion topic than how to / what to expect when applying patches. I am not sure I agree with your comment "it's best to only install the patches that are really needed". I thought smpatch update "decided" which patches are needed given the system it is run on.
Is your comment based upon best practices published somewhere? How do you as a sysAdmin decide which patches are really needed?
I would like to hear from the community how they patch their boxes and if smpatch is working for them, especially in a production environment. I have a stand alone system, but how are people in an environment with test systems patching? Are they using smpatch? In general, how are people keeping their systems updated, reliable, bug free and secure?

Who cares who winsSeriously Microsoft?
Here's the thing, I received a call from my dear mom about this issue. She's not computer expert and never will be. She has no idea how to turn anything off from computer. But she's annoyed that she has to start up computer every
single time now twice because some one of Q&A fucked up. Your given solution is Invalid! Please come to solution what even 50 year old can do with out some sort understanding how to go ms config and disable startup programs and
run disk checks.
This update confusion makes me want go and buy my mom Apple, and then you guys have meetings on MS wondering why apple does so good. This is the reason. Everyone aren't computer wizards and rather overpay things on first day than pay
to some long haired WoW player every single time when MS Q&A fuck's up. This is second time in 30 days when I have to travel to my moms house ( 140 miles ) fix something what you guys fucked up.
Next time I send you a bill and you can debate abut it in EU highest court.
Wow, that's pretty harsh, Taavi. You seem to have a pretty narrow-minded idea of how many
hundred of thousands of different configurations Microsoft has to support with a single, unified update system. Go get your mom an Apple - see how that works out for you. Something tells me you haven't
bitched or moaned about the hundreds of other updates that DID seamlessly, automatically and silently install - but now you're all venom and hate towards Microsoft for missing a small detail somewhere in in a massive list of possible configurations.
You might try using RDP or some other readily available tool to allow remote access to the box without having to drive 140 miles to dear mom's house. That's how I take care of my parent's machines, and it's worked well for me. Then again, I like
seeing my parents - any chance I get, and I generally get a home cooked meal out of the deal.
If you can stop acting like a douche bag long enough to actually try and troubleshoot the problem, you likely would have figured out of to solve this issue yourself. You're one of those kinds of people who LOVE to Bandwagon-bash Microsoft
when it's convenient for you, but the rest of the time you silently LOVE to use their products.
Whatever you do, don't give Microsoft any credit for their successes - that bitter pill just might drive you over the edge.
Flames aside, here's what I did to get these particular updates to install. It seems that KB2515325 is the hinge that's making or breaking these installs from working one-after-another. I installed all the updates I could, did a reboot, and was
left with the 4 KB's mentioned. I didn't download the standalone updates, either - I used Windows Update. Here's what I did to get them all to install on my 64-Bit system:
Install KB2492386 by itself - unselect all other updates
Reboot
Install KB2515325 by itself - unselect all other updates
Reboot
Install KB2522422 by itself - unselect all other updates. I was not asked to reboot after this update.
Check for updates again, and you should only have KB982018 left. Install KB982018.
Reboot one last time, then everything will hopefully have taken.
If that works for you, Taavi, be sure and give me your address so I can send
you a bill for providing you step-by-step instructions.

For several weeks you have been trying to update my installed Firefox 3.5.16 [?]
It fails to install - you ask if I have any other versions that conflict. I can only find 3.5If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

How to organize and copy photos in an album?
I have created an album and organized the photos in the order that I wish to copy them to a flash drive or disk but when I try to do this the photos are in order by time and not my order. Can this be changed?
