Vmware xp session and netware client under windows7

I am beginning to migrate my netware 4.11 servers to 5.1
I have an xp session installed under vmware.
I have a 5.1 server set up with ip and ipx.
I can connect to the 5.1 server on ip or ipx on an xp sp3 workstation.
I setup a windows 7 workstation and installed the client for windows 7.
I can attach to the server and map drives.
I can run my database software under dosbox and mount the mapped drives.
I would rather run the software under an xp session in vmware as the software is tried and true under xp.
I have created the xp session.
If I login and map drives under windows 7 they don't show up under the xp session.
I installed the client for windows xp (4.91 sp5) ip only and it will not find the tree or server so I can't login from xp.
I tried uninstalling the client from windows 7 and use the client under the xp session. It still doesn't find anything.
How do I attach to the server under the vmware xp session?
Should I have the client loaded under both 7 and the vmware xp session?

Galtjunk,

Why not 6.5 or OES11?
I would regard the Xp session as a completely separate machine and I
doubt that the VMWare router will route IPX, so you need to configure
the Xp machine for IP.
Then try logging in, using the IP address of server in the server field
and leave tree field blank.

  • GroupWise API and Netware Client dependency

    I am having some issues with protected memory violations in trying to use the GW API to use either the Connect() or ConnectByDN() methods so we can programmatically create a GW User account for an existing NDS user.
    From what I see, it would seem to me that the API requires an active login context for a user to work properly. Can any of you verify that a logged on Netware user session must be present in order to use the API?
    I don't see any option in the API to bind to NDS or GW using a logon method. If anyone knows of such a method in the API, please advise.

    On the box, install the Novell Client, and make sure you are logged in
    as a user with supervisor rights to both the domain database, as well
    as to the context where you wants to add the user

  • Problems with storing EJB Remote in session and retrieving.

    We store EJB remote object in session and differnt clients retrieve it from session
    before making a business method call. This seems to work in most cases but some
    times it gives the exception attached. This happens only in a clustered environment.
    What has been observed is that if we put the remote object inside a hashtable
    which in-turn is stored in session retrieval from hashtable does not give this
    problem.
    Any suggestion / solution would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your sugggestion. Rajesh Karuvat and myself are working on the same

    I want to know if there is any specific patch for this problem for weblogic 6.1
    sp3.
    The reason we can not just try Weblogic sp4 is that we are using epicentric 4.0
    that is cvertified with weblogic 6.1 sp3 and not sp4.
    I have also opened a case with bea about it. I would reaaly appretiate if you

    Please do revert back.

  • Restrict concurrent user and/or session from a client

    Hi All:
    We have an application with database Oracle 10g.
    I want to add a new validation to restrict concurrent user and/or session from a client. (we have almost 60 client firms using the software to enter daily trasnactions).
    All users from all clients are connecting to the database using a common functional ID.
    What I did was:
    1) Add a column 'user_logged_in' in the master table for client and update it as Y when user from that client logged on to the system,
    2) Insert the application logon details (we can figure out the client details from this) into a global temp table,
    3) Create a logoff trigger to update the 'user_logged_in'flag in client master table by using values from global temp table when session logged off and
    4) Restrict the users from same client if the flag is 'Y'
    But the problem in this case is logoff trigger will not be executed in case if the session got killed or terminated abnormally.
    Is there any other good solution for this scenario?
    Thanks
    Robin

    Meaning - if that session goes down you have NO logon details since the data isn't persistent. Is that really useful?
    There is nothing you can do to account for someone just pulling the plug on: the server, the network connection, the bridge, the router, etc. And if a user is connected, starts a long-running process and then gets disconnected the process is likely to keep running in the background until Oracle needs to talk to the user again and then realizes that they are gone.
    Meanwhile the user is trying to logon again but can't because the system thinks they are already logged on.
    >
    All users from all clients are connecting to the database using a common functional ID.
    >
    Doesn't that kind of make it harder, not easier, to track who is really connecting and using your application?

  • Detect orphaned sessions for which client is terminated

    Hi,
    We have REST service. Client will establish session to service. There is max num of sessions limit (10). If I kill client app 10 times, 11th time I will not be able to establish connection to service as max sessions reached. This is because previous sessions
    are still active and will be active for session time out period.
    Now how to know such kind of sessions for which client app is killed. Is there any setting in IIS for this?
    Any inputs on this will be helpful.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    For this situation, you could try to disable session state in IIS:
    Open IIS Manager and navigate to the level you want to manage. For information about opening IIS Manager, see
    Open IIS Manager (IIS 7). For information about navigating to locations in the UI, see
    Navigation in IIS Manager (IIS 7).
    In Features View, double-click ASP.
    On the ASP page, under Services, expand
    Session Properties.
    Select False from the Enable Session State drop-down list.
    In the Actions pane, click Apply.
    Besides, for more information, you could refer to:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee377050(v=bts.70).aspx
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/david.wang/archive/2006/04/12/howto-maximize-the-number-of-concurrent-connections-to-iis6.aspx
    And for more detailed information about IIS, it's recommended that you could ask the IIS issues in IIS Forum:

    Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this?

    First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
    If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
    Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
    Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
    Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Identifying and managing clients in nonblocking NIO socket programming

    Here's my beef. When I write a Server using a thread for every new connection that comes in, I can remember everything for each client in its respective thread. I can have a table entry in a MYSQL database for each client which each thread can look up by a remembered id. I can direct packets from a different application to a specific client by passing a message to the thread associated with the client. But, in this implementation, the client-server setup will need to have a master-slave relationship where one is always reading, and can talk on the network only in response.
    I like the NIO selector way of doing things, but I do not get a memory method to deal with specific clients. How do I, for example,
    direct packets to a specific client.?
    recognize incoming packet info and make sense of its context in relation to past messages to and from the same client?
    maintain one-to-one correspondence between a MYSQL database table entry and a specific client?
    Could somebody explain this to me how I can maintain a client environment, and a client state machine with memory?
    Thanks

    AnilYou will use select() and SelectionKey when you deal with NIO. The SelectionKey has an attach method that you can use to associate the client with something, e.g. a session. Your Session class can contain all that you now have in your thread.

    How can i read and write to a variable session in oracle portal? to to like java set session and get session?Hi,
    You may want to see the wwsto_api_session here in [Portal APIs|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/html/plsqldoc/pldoc1012/index.html].
    "Working with the session object
    The general procedure for working with the session object is:
    1. Load the session object, with an appropriate domain and sub-domain combination, using the load_session method.
    2. Manipulate the content of the object using the set_attribute methods, or just access its content using the get_attribute methods.
    3. Force these changes to be saved, using the save_session method.
    Typically this sequence occurs within the scope of one client routine that extracts and/or sets all of the client states. For example:
    declare
    l_store portal30.wwsto_api_session;
    l_date date;
    begin
    l_store := portal30.wwsto_api_session.load_session ('PORTAL', 'TEST');
    l_store.set_attribute ('LAST_ACCESSED', sysdate);
    l_store.set_attribute ('USERNAME', 'SMITH');
    l_store.set_attribute ('COUNRTY_CODE', 1);
    l_store.set_attribute ('LOCATION', 'US');
    l_store.set_attribute ('LAST_LOGGED_ON', sysdate);
    l_store.set_attribute_as_string
    ('OFFICE_LOCATION', 'CALIFORNIA', 'US', 'STRING');
    l_store.save_session;
    end;
    The login session that creates the session storage object is defined by wwctx_api.get_sessionid. "
    ref: wwsto_api_session for Portal 10.1.2
    then, look for the functions for getting attributes as number, varchar2, string or index, etc. in the above link.
    hope that helps!

  • Install the BO6.5 client in Windows7

    I would like install the BO6.5 client in Windows7. I am a BO Report developer and we are supporting 6.5 reports for the next months, so I need to find a solution for developing BO6.5 report in Windows7.

    Windows 7 support was added to the current product version, which is Xi3.1 in SP3, which was released just several months ago.
    6.5.x is out of support for several YEARS now.
    Sure, you can try to install it and it might even work (in compatibility mode or with some other tricks), but the fact is 6.5 clients were never designed for or tested on Win 7 or Vista.
    So like any other windows program not tested/designed for those OS's - its a lottery if they will work or not.
    You can review Supported platforms guide for 6.5 Sp4 on SMP in Help &Support >BusinessObjects Support> Documentation>Supported Platforms > Archive> BusinessObjects 6
    https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001118912008E/boe65sp4_win_sp.pdf
    I see no Win 7 in there.

    documented by VMware on Feb 23 (two days ago) so you may have not seen this

  • ISE v1.2 - Endpoint abandoned EAP session and started new

    Hi.
    I have lots of clients that are not able to log on to both wired and wireless networks, and they always fails with these errors.
    5411 Supplicant stopped responding to ISE
    5440 Endpoint abandoned EAP session and started new
    This is with certificate authentication, both for client and for machine.
    The clients are for the most part Windows 7.
    We use both Cisco and Aerohive for wireless, and the switch I have tested with is a Cisco2960S
    A few strange things:
    It works perfectly for a lot of clients too, with the excact same configuration.
    One PC I'm testing with works fine when authenticating via wireless, but when I plug it into the switch, I get these errors.
    I seems to be a timeout of some kind, either to short or too long, but where?
    In the Win7 supplicant?
    In the switch?
    In the Cisco WLC
    or in the Aerohive AP?
    I have spent hours and hours on this problem, but I can't make it go away, it is very exhausting.
    There surely must have been others with the same problem?
    Thank you.

    Thank for trying to help out, but this is.. insanely vague.
    How can i verify that NAS (the C2960S) is properly configured?
    What timers are we talking about here? There are many to choose from..
    The problem is still here, even with the latest patch 7 for ISE 1.2. It works fine on wireless, but not with wired, from the same computer. So it is logic to assume it has something to do with the switch.
    This is the configuration from the switch:
