Vmwsci.dll causing applications to crash

I'm testing View Horizon 6.0 and have come up with a weird issue.
My VMs applications (Internet Explorer, Media Player, ....) keep crashing when I close them stating that the Application stopped working.
In Windows event viewer Application log and Event ID 1000 is raised, stating the application crashed trying to unload the module vmwsci.dll
Looking at the vmwsci.dll, it is from VMware .  Description states that is VMware Horizon View Agent PCoIP Smart Cart Interception DLL.
The thing is that when I installed the agent, I didn't install the smart card portion of the agent, so why is the dll still installed?
Also, if I rename the dll. to vmwsci.dll.000, the VM works perfectly fine.
any Ideas?

I am having the very same problem, except with View Agent 5.3.1 on Windows 8.1.  Same event ID, same .dll, though in my case it only happens once I install the Smart Card option for the Agent.  If I rename vmwsci.dll or uninstall the Agent, the desktop returns to normal.
Other symptoms: background image is removed (Themes service fails); all applications in Start menu are removed; network login fails, will cause file explorer to crash if attempting to access a network share location; most services fail (WMI, Windows Update, RDC, User Profile Service, BiTS, Computer Browser, IpSec, etc. etc.).  Basically Event Viewer gets blown up with errors.
Anyone else come across this issue?

  • Save as pdf causes application to crash

I have done a clean install of Lion OSX on several computers (imac & mbp).  Each of them has Adobe 9.x installed.  I have all updates for osx and Adobe but keep having the same problem on all systems.
When I am in any application and choose "Print" then choose "Save As PDF" the application will crash before presenting the Save As dialog box.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

  • Ca60.dll causes RWRBE60 to crash

We have a custom form with a custom menu that we use to select
    and run our custom reports.
The whole system works fine using Developer 1.6.1 against
Oracle 7.3.4 (VMS)in our production environment.
The form / report server is NT sp4.
The forms, menu's and reports have all been converted
succesfully to Developer 6i against Oracle 8.1.6 (VMS)
on the same NT form /report server.
All reports run fine in report builder.
The user selects a report to run by double clicking it. The
problem is our 'simple' reports run fine from the
menu, but the more complex reports cause RWRBE60 to throw an
invalid page fault in module CA60.dll.
This causes the background engine to crash and the menu to
freeze because of an illegal operation.
Has anyone else run into this? How did you fix / work around it?
    Thank you

  • Drop-down menu on dialog windows causes applications to crash

    Hi,
My applications have started crashing when I use the Open and Save dialogs. I haven't installed any new applications, but my MBP crashed last night when shutting down, so that might have something to do with it.
For example, if I'm using Office 2004 and choose [Open..] then try to locate a folder using the lower of the two drop-down menus (the one which defaults to 'Microsoft'), the program freezes for a second or so, then crashes with a 'Report Problem for Word' error window. The same problem occurs on all of my applications.
If I choose [Open..] and try to locate a file using the disk icons on the left-hand side of the dialog, then click on folders to burrow down into the computer, the dialog works quite normally.
I've reapplied the 10.4.10 update but that didn't produce a fix. I've fixed permissions, cleared caches and done the usual things, but nothing seems to fix it.
I then created a new user account and tried performing the same actions, this time everything worked as expected. So it looks like there is a preference in my personal user account somewhere that has become corrupted. But I have no clue what it could be.
Does anyone have a clue how to fix this?
    Many thanks,
    Mike.

    hey Tobsel,
as far as i know, there should not be any issues if that process is killed. However, your num lock key may or may not work sporadically.

  • Finder Causing Application to Crash

    Hi All,
I'm having a problem when using the Finder to select files whilst in an application. For example, when trying to navigate my way to a file, the Finder window opens momentarily but then vanishes, but the application still behaves in a way that suggests the window is still open as I am unable to use any of the applications functions.
When clicking on the main body of the application (Safari, for example), it does a clicking noise which it would usually do when you click outside of the Finder. The only way I can exit the application is to Force Quit and start again, but this does not always fix it. At present it's happening about 1 in 4 times, which is incredibly frustrating.
It did the same today when trying to add a folder to my iTunes library, so I'm fairly sure this is not application specific.
Any help is very much appreciated.

  • Crxf_pdf.dll appears to cause IIS to crash

When exporting crystal reports to pdf  from a web based application using Crystal 2008, the crxf_pdf.dll causes IIS to crash.  This happens about once every five times with a particular large report.  But it has happened with small reports on occassion as well.  We have seen this on several windows 2008 server boxes (IIS7)hosting our website which allows this type of export .  Below is the error...

Any thoughts, ideas or solutions appreciated!
    Thanks

This looks like  a non issue.  Here is what I did to reproduce the issue:  1)I setup a separate website on my server that contained one page that simply exported a pdf report with a press of a button.  I brought up two browsers, logged in anonymously to that site.  I started the the exports at roughly the same time.  The report I created listed several fields out of the db table and would run for about one minute.   For the setup described above the reports both finished processing at just about the same time.  I tried the same using windows authentication and had the same results.   2) I moved the single web page to my main website,  then opened two browsers to the site logged in as my windows user.  While my report was exporting in one browser, I could not get to the database  with the other browser.  Once the report finished, the second browser came up with data immediately.3) I changed the test web page by removing the report export code and adding code to bring back the same records into a dataset.  I was able to duplicate the problem this way as well.  This took Crystal out of the picture. 4) I created a new windows user on my server and set it up in the development database.  I opened one browser with my login and a second browser with the new login.  While loading the dataset with the first browser, I did not have any problem accessing the database table with the browser connected as the new user. 5) Finally, I decided to try using the second browser from a remote location.  This time  I logged both browsers in as my user, but one browser was on a different client.  While loading the dataset with one browser the other browser did not have a problem accessing the Account Detail.  6) It appears that when working on a single box with mulitiple browsers logged in as the same user, IIS(?) limits the amount of access as if there was only one instance.  So far, I have found no documentation for this, but will include it when I do.
As it stands this does not appear to be a critical issue since it only limits a single user on a single box and does not limit multiple users logged in with Anonymous (for example) from many different boxes.

  • Calling RfcClose() while handle in use causes my C++ application to crash

    Hi!
I was hoping someone here could help me with this. I am using librfc32u.dll in my application. My application invokes RFCs on SAP, using the SDK function RfcCallReceiveEx(). At times, this call takes too long, so, from another thread, I do a RfcClose() on the connection handle.
Nearly all the time this seems to work (i.e., it successfully cancels the execution). But a couple of times I have seen that it causes my application to crash.
I wanted to know whether such a programming approach is allowed or not.
    Thanks,
    Mustansir
P.S. If this is not the appropriate forum for this question, please help me out and let me know where i should redirect this question to. Thanks.

    Hi,
The reason to crash may be because of time out happens due to more processing time. This may be because of resource consumption or process load etc.
For this you can try out with increasing relavent SAP system parameters with the help of SAP BASIS.
    Now, btw, are u connecting a C++ application into SAP ?? ,
Even you can post this in this thread: may be useful: Java
    SAP NetWeaver Application Server
    Hope this helps,

  • Printing causes Office 2013 applications to crash

We’ve a fresh installed Windows 8 Pro and Office 2013. Printing works correctly in every application but Office 2013.

Peter Van Keymeulen, IT Infrastructure Solution Architect, www.edeconsulting.be

This is the answer that fixes the problem every time, based on my experience and that of others. It works for both the 32 & 64-bit versions of Windows (I'm one of those odd ducks who runs 32-bit Windows 8.1 Professional and it worked perfectly for me).
The problem is not Windows, either 7 or 8, it's Office 2013 and a variety of unique HP LaserJet printers.  By the way, the glitch occurs whether you use networked printing or a USB cable; I discovered that early-on when I
was trying to troubleshoot the issue.  Also (and it should go without saying), always reboot the computer after you make the change to the driver.  Thanks to Shane, who apparently was the first one to discover the solution over a year ago, right
after Office 2013 came out and the problem manifested itself.
After lots of testing I have found a setting that has fixed all my HP CP5520 and HP M4555 printers that were crashing when printing from Office 365's 2013 pro plus.
It's the driver setting in Device settings -> Installable options -> Printer Status notification, this needs to be disabled.
I hope this also fixes other peoples problems.

  • Printing causes Application Crashes

    Hi,
I have a Macbook that I hook up to my Lexmark 5300 series printer via USB to print. The problem is that when I print (PDF or Document) it causes my application to crash. It does not even bring up the print option dialogue box. This includes Adobe Reader (Professional and Version 9), Preview, any Office program. I thought it might be the default PDF printer, so I deleted that. The only printer in the queue is the Lexmark. Is there anything else I should try?
I am able to print from InDesign oddly enough, but it isn't a PDF it's a .indd format.
    Thank you!

    Updated drivers are a wonder.

  • Easy text report in DLL causes LabVIEW crash

I was wondering if anyone else could shed some light on this problem (it's got tech support stumped).
To date I have two build machines and three target machines that have had the same problem. I build a DLL in LabVIEW that contains the Easy Text Report vi. I also create a VI that calls this DLL function to test it out. Everything works fine on my build machines. On my target machines, however...
On the target machine I put a call library function node on the block diagram and configure it for the LabVIEW DLL I created, select the function and setup the parameters to the function. Upon clicking on OK on the configuration window for the call library function node, my hard drive access spikes for some period of time (sometimes fractions of seconds, sometimes seconds); I assume the VI inside the DLL is being loaded into memory. I then get a Windows message stating that LabVIEW needs to be shut down at which point Windows terminates LabVIEW. Removing the Easy Text Report from the DLL VI eliminates the crash. Tech support has helped narrow this down a bit -- it seems to specifically be the print portion of the report generation VIs (they sent me a DLL that creates an HTML report which had no issues).
I'm doing this in LabVIEW 8.0. To make things more interesting, I have the same code in LabVIEW 7.0 and 7.1; neither of these have any problems. I've attached the code (LabVIEW 8.0) that tech support and I have been messing with.
    Any thoughts or sugestions?

    Hi DougF,
It has been a while since I looked at this stuff in detail, so I will answer from memory.
There are a number of routines that must be present for the code to work correctly. The two I am thinking about are "CINDispose" and "CINUnload".
I suspect CINUnload is missing or buggy.
