VNI-2105 Error on EM

Hi,
I have customer issue which is explained in the following mail, which mentions the problems faced when running a batch job.
Please provide me the solution as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance
====================================================
Hello Sir,
There is VNI-Error 2105
An Enterprise Manager (Oracle 9.2) is setup with the intention
of doing automated backups on a database version 9.2.
If possible I would like to do backups on an 8.1.7 database until the 9.2
is production ready, but the 9.2 is the ultimate target.
My delema is the VNI-2015 errors I get when trying to connect to the node
with the 9.2 database. I have set all the required permissions such as log
on as a batch job, etc.
I would be interested in a proposal for:
1)resolving the VNI-2015 errors, including root cause identification, and
fix.
2) Scripting the automated backup job
=========================================================
The checklist provided in the document is been checked.
Is there anything in the way to specify the OS user in preferred
credentials domain\username engelhard_pag\peeklims that would be an
issue?
Note : The Verification mentioned in Metalink is also checked.
==========================================================
Please provide the solution for the problem.
Regards
Veena

You must make sure that the operating system username/password that you specified as preferred credentials for the node (the node where the database is running) has the "logon as a batch job" permission set.
If the node is part of a domain, then make sure to modify the permissions correctly (since domain level permissions may take precedence over local security settings).

  • Vni-2015 error

    Hello,
When I submit jobs under OMS, for example, the full export of a database, it fails with the vni-2015 error. I describe underneath, the steps made.
    OS:Windows XP Pro Version 2002 SP1
    Database : Oracle 9i 9.2.0.1.0
I opened a windows session locally as the user "TEST". He belongs to "Administrators" and "ORA_DBA" groups.
I defined a database for the Management Server. While the database is open, I started at first, Oracle Intelligent Agent and then OMS as services.
Connecting to OMS for the first time as sysman/oem_temp, I added a user "TEST" with the following privileges : login as a batch job, access to system events. The password of this user corresponds to that of the OS user.
For each and every database, identified by OMS, the connections are established as sys with the role sysdba. The connection to the thread is made as "TEST".
The user is authorised to access all of the databases, the thread and the listener too.
I don't know where I went wrong. I am roaming around this problem since yesterday. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards.
    R.Tirou
As I went through the logs, I read this in "nmiconf.txt".

As I searched for solutions on the web, I found a message from Nabila Mekkaoui asking to delete the file 'emddiscover.tcl' referenced in nmiconf.lst. I did so and thus the intelligent agent runs correctly ( verified via agentctl utility ). But the same error arises when I submit jobs via the Management Server.

    Hello,
I have the very same problem:
OMS is running, the listener is running, the services are running.
In OMS I specified the local administrator (who always has the right to log on as a batch job) for the node-ID credentials and the sysdba-database user for the database.
Yet I always get the error
VNI-2015 : The Node preferred credentials for the target node are either invalid
or do not have sufficient privileges to complete the operation.
On Windows platforms, the Node credentials specified for the Windows target
should have the "Logon as a batch job" privilege.
I also tried with another user whom I specificly gave the right to log on as batch job.
    Still, the VNI-2015 error persists.
What is wrong here? Oracle immedieatly lets the job fail. It is checking very quickly the credentials somewhere and immediately puts the job into the job history with the above message.
    Someone from Ooracle should know?
On the node I tried to specify the user with
    Administrator
    instead of
    servername\administrator
Then the job fails without any error message, just absolutely no output.
This problem persists for weeks now.
    Any hint is greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely
    Andreas

  • VNI -2015 Error in OEM

    Hello,
    The following are my specs:
    OEM 9.0.1.0.0
    Windows 2000 SP3
I'm trying to execute 2 simple jobs via the OEM and I encounter the following Error
    VNI-2015: Authentication Failed.
My Windows user is registered as having Batch access.
I'm trying to execute the job as SYSMAN. What user login should I use to have the jobs authenticate correclty?

    Hi,
Be sure that the user create with the "logon as batch " is the one that start the the service OracleOraHomeAgent also the one as the credential in the oem-console->system-preferences for the node you are trying to connect.
you have to stop and start the service before to log on the oem-console.
    Sorry for my english...

  • VNI authentication error

authentication error appears whenever any job is submitted. i'm using oracle 8.1.7 standard edition. preferred credentials of DB are system/manager, and node credential is NT local user with 'log on as batch job' privilege.
But i find the same problem every time!!!
    anybody can help me?
    thank you
    mari

    Dear Mari,
I don't think that the fact that you are using DHCP is the cause of your predicament since I am using DHCP too with no problems.
What you could do is check the Local Profile configuration of the Net8 Assistant. Ensure that under Oracle Advanced Security, none of the Available Methods inthe Authentication tab (including NTS) are selected. Save the new Net8 configuration and exit.
Once again, I must reiterate that the Windows NT account (having "Log on as a batch job" privilege) you are using to launch Oracle Enterprise Manager must be the same user whose login name and password are stored in the Preferred Credentials for the concerned Node. Submit the job to OEM only after logging in to the operating system (Windows NT) as this user.
    Ciao!

    Hi,
I am getting the following error when I test RFC connection from XXX to YYY R/3 systems( Windows 4.6 C and kernel 4.6 D - 2297). but I am able to test successfully from YYY to XXX. I verified windows services file and every thing looks correct. RFC Connection XXX to YYY is still working if I use Load balancing(sapmsYYY). This problem started after we reboot the server. Also I am able to connect from every other server except this server.

  • VNI-2002 File Operation Error

I am trying to do an export of a sample database i have running
on Oracle8i on Windows 2000 professional.
Whenever I schedule a job, it fails with the message 'VNI-2002 :
    File Operation Error".
What should I do to elliminate this problem?
    thanks a bunch.

    I have done as follows:
Verify that sufficient permission is granted to createfiles in the $ORACLE_HOME/network/agent directory
If connecting from a client, drop the node and rediscover
I also created an OS user (oraJob) with permissions:
read/write permissions to the $ORACLE_HOME\Net80 or $ORACLE_HOME/network directory and all of its sub directories, read/write permissions to the $TEMP directory, as described in Oracle Books.
Updated the preferred credentials with this user on the node.
Assign IMP_FULL_DATABASE to the DBA role
Assign all necessary privileges to the IMP_FULL_DATABASE role
These steps cleared up many things but unfortunately I'm still stuck with a VNI-2002 error, although (according to my logic) I have all the necessary permissions to access the jobq etc. There's almost nothing out in the Internet community relating to the VNI-2002. Apart from sites hosting Oracle Books I have only encountered two (this one posted here) and another via yahoo, complaining about it. None has a suitable explanation, that is one that could guide you onto the real cause.
So for now I still searching...

  • Job submitting fails (VNI-2015) - VARIANT

Here a little variant of the VNI-2015 problem!
On the managed node i have created a local user who is also a local administrator with the "log in as batch jobs" right. Also i have enabled the logging for all system-events like log in /log out.
The same user is a superadministrator in OEM with preferred credential for the managed node and database (username and password).
When i create a backup job with the wizard i register a log-in in the system-event and a log in to the database in the application-event(? - is a german version). After completing the wizard for the backup-strategie i register the log out in the system-event.
When i now submit the job to the node i register nothing as if the OEM did not try to connect to the node and after a few seconds i receive the VNI-2015 error-message.
    Could anybody explain this behavior?
    Thanks

    sorry, i forgot the systemdetails:
    Managged node: Win2000 SP4, DB: 9i release 9.2.0.1.0 EE
    OEM server: Win2000 SP4, DB: 9i release 9.2.0.1.0 standard

  • Back up Authentication Error

VNI Authentication error message appears when submitting a Backup Job in the OEM

    Ok - cracked it.
Changing user's permission on the hard drive of the computer didn't help.
So I looked at user rights on the back up drive (is that what you meant anyway?) and there were none shown - so I changed them to full rights and back up went ok.
So ..... if you meant to check user rights on the back up drive, and I have now changed user rights for all users on the computer hard drive (drive C) then have I created problems for myself (there seemed to be a lot of scary warnings about reducing security etc).
In practice this is a home computer only used by me and my wife (unless a technician has to repair it etc and they no doubt have the knowledge to do naughty things if they want) so unless the user right changes cause operational problems there won't be any security etc issues (will there??)

1, created a local os user name "sysman" in db server,
set it is a member of administrator and ORA_DBA
2, granted "Logon as batch job" to "sysman"
3, create a db user name called "sysman" with same

I just selected it by list.

  • VNI_2015:authentication error,??????

I try to import a dump file(oracle 8) to Oracle 8i, it always comes up a error message:VNI_2015:authentication error.
    Anyone know why?
    Thanks
    my email: [email protected]
    null

Ok, I just went through the same thing. I would much rather be doing this in Unix, but...
My problem was that the WIN2000 User needed to have the logon as batch privilege assigned to
it. To do that in WIN2000, you go to
Administrative Tools => Local Security Settings => Local Policies folder => User Rights Assignments
Go to the Log on as a batch job security policy and then add your user to it.
Once I did that, my VNI-2015 errors went away. Then I got to move on to the next set of errors, but
    that is another story.
    Good Luck

  • 10.5.6 Results in "forever" indexing Spotlight and poor performance

    Hi all,
I recently updated to 10.5.6 and have been struggling with a constantly indexing spotlight ever since. I have tried the following:
    -- repairing the disk
    -- repairing the disk permissions
-- deleting the spotlight index and re-indexing
-- use Onyx to clean up spotlight indexes
-- added various directories to "privacy" in spotlight preferences
Essentially, the computer becomes very laggy with TONS of I/O activity (180GB in data read overnight, 100GB of data on the disk). Even after it appears that Spotlight is done indexing, it does not provide any search results and will eventually start re-indexing all over again.
Here is the repeated lines I keep seeing in the system logs:

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately, none of them solved my problem. I tried:
    1) restarting in safe-mode
    2) repairing permissions
    3) restarting in safe-mode
    4) installing the combo update
    5) restarting normally
My machine has been indexing for about 9 hours now and Spotlight status still says, "Estimating Indexing Time".

  • Oem jobs fail on windows 2000 node

    Hi! Gurus,
I'm trying to schedule jobs in the management server (9.2), it has discovered the 8.1.7 node and I've set the node credentials and given the user 'logon batch job' privilege, but still get the vni:2015 error. Is there anything that i've missed. Appreciate any help. Thanks

I'm not sure, but if you change the parameter JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES = 20, it can work fine.
