VOB File Converting? Mac the Ripper & Youtube

I have a audition running about 11 minutes on DVD. Broken up into 3 chapters. I am using Mac the Ripper. The file is a VOB?. Very large about 743.50mb. I want to load on computer and upload to Youtube. Problem is the file seems to big?. Also when i go into movie folder it devides into 6 seperate folders but the 743+ file is there. How do I make this smaller and than burn on to mac and upload to Youtube. Thanks

If Mac the Ripper has created a folder of "VOB" files you can use MPEG Streamclip or Handbrake to decode and demux them (they're MPEG-2 files) to a format that FCE can work with. Convert to Quicktime Movie using DV (DV, DVC/PRO-NTSC), Apple Intermediate, Animation, or Video as the codecs (and set quality to highest/best). Set the frame rate (29.97 for NTSC, 25 for PAL) - don't leave it set to "current", you'll likely have sync problems later.
For anything other than DV, don't forget to convert the audio along with the video. AIFF, 16 bit, 48kHz if the destination is FCE (the original audio is more than likely 44.1kHz which FCE would have to render).

  • Converting Mac the Ripper files for editing in FCE

Is there a way to convert a file that's been '"ripped" from a DVD, into video and audio that can be editied in FCE. I was told that it can be done, but can't find anyone who knows how in the DVD forum.
Nothing illegal. I have programs of my own on DVD, and I'm trying to set-up a stock footage library that I can easily pull from and add to new videos.

  • How to burn/convert files from Mac The Ripper??

Ok, I just used MacTheRipper to rip a DVD with Video_Ts and Audio_TS folders.
Now my question is, how can I convert these into a disk-image, or how can I now burn this to a DVD? Thanks in advance

What kind of burner do you have?
You need software to convert a Video_TS folder into the format necessary for a DVD to play on a DVD player.
One of the programs that will do this is Toast Platinum.
You need more than a blank DVD and a mere burner.
    Google for conversion programs.

  • Is there an application to convert VOB files to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger

Is there an application to convert VOB files to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, and if there is how do you convert.

VOB files are video files.  Tiger is an operating system.  Converting video files to Tiger frankly doesn't make sense.  Can I convert a Beethoven symphony into a toothbrush?
What is your actual goal in this?  You can play VOB files with VLC, and there is still a Tiger version of that.  Converting to another format is harder since usually when you are working with VOB files you are doing higher end video editing.
If you goal is to convert commercial DVDs you have ripped, don't bother asking.  Discussing that is against the terms of use of this site since ripping commercial DVDs is illegal in the USA and some other countries.

  • Why do my converters (dvd ripper & mac the ripper) only recognise 14mins?

I have a dvd (50mins of footage) that i need to extract however both dvd ripper and mac the ripper only register 14mins of the 50mins worth of footage. The dvd plays fine however this problem occurs when trying to convert the (private) dvd (has no copy protection). Mac the ripper has just come up with a warning saying the dvd has been made with delibrate bad sectors.... what does this mean? What does padding the dvd mean?
    Thanks!

Since you posted this in the FCE forum, should we assume you plan to edit the footage from the DVD? If so, use MPEG Streamclip or DVDxDV to convert the DVD's VOB files to an editable format that FCE works with natively.

  • Importing Video into iMovie using Mac the Ripper

How do I import video into iMovie using Mac the Ripper? I ripped the video content onto my computer but it was not converted into a file that I can import.

I think it's trend for all users since we can get more funny from digital life. Also it's necessary sometimes for us to save our video or dvd files with other methods, i have no idea but use something like converters. To my experience, mactheripper is not what you want, maybe you can try this dvd ripper for mac.Maybe ripper is illegal, but i just get my oringinal files, and i want to do more with it, that's just it!

  • Playing DVDs created from Mac the Ripper...workflow?

I've used Mac the Ripper to copy a DVD I have. What is the workflow on how to make that file folder that has Audio_TS and Video_TS (created from Mac the Ripper) onto another DVD AND make it self-play once it gets inserted into the player?
    Thanks!

If you have rights/permission to copy the DVD, make a Disc Image then burn another copy from the Finder.
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/making_dvdcopies.html
Or, if the original disc isn't set for the track to be the "first play," you can use MPEG Streamclip to demux the audio and video, then use those files as assets in a new DVD-SP project for reauthoring.
Either way, I would not recommend using Mac the Ripper.

  • G5 10.5.8 + Mac the Ripper + Popcorn 2

I had Mac the Ripper and Popcorn 2 before I got my latest computer and hadn't tried to use it until now. I'm having trouble getting Popcorn to work for me.
Mac the Ripper is working just fine and I'm able to use Mpeg Streamclip to export video into a format that can be added to my iTunes library but those same movies can't be seen by my apple TV and also can't be imported to my iPod video.
When I try to export movies using Popcorn 2 so that they can be viewed on my iPod it just hangs there and does nothing.
I'm just curious if anyone else has had success with upgrade versions of Popcorn? The newest version is 4 but I want to know it will work before buying it.
    Thanks for any help

I prefer using Handbrake for compatibility with iTunes.

  • What is Mac the Ripper is there a way to download it?

im trying to copy a dvd to my hard drive and i need to have Mac the Ripper and i dont know what that is and how do i use it.

Try Google or one of the other excellent search engines. I agree with the other posting about 'ripping commercial DVDs', but it does have a legitimate use for backing up DVDs - for example those which might be damaged by children's sticky fingers.

  • Is there a version of Mac the Ripper for Os X Lion?

I'm trying to rip some of my DVD's so that I can watch them on my IPhone.  I have heard that Mac the Ripper is the best for this, but I can't find a version that works with Os X Lion.  Does anyone know if there's a new version available, and if so, where I can find it?
    Thanks,

Sorry, but discussions about ripping of copy-protected DVDs is prohibited here the Communities Terms of Use. You'll have to ask about this on some other discussions site.

  • How to play .vob files on Mac or Convert them?

    Hello,
I'm a big Mac convert and I can do 99% of what I need w/o Windows.
However, I have a lot of movies that are on my windows machine which are back-ups and I want to read them or convert them on a Mac so I do not have to painstakenly redo them. They are images (.VOB) files.
    Any ideas?
    Black Book 2ghz,MBP 2ghz, 24" of Glory iMac 2.16ghz, 12" iBook1.25 ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

For the record, VOB files are not images, they are just multiplexed video/audio/subtitle streams. MPlayer and VLC should both have no trouble playing them. If they're in a VIDEO_TS folder, DVD Player will play them (File->Open DVD Media).

  • What is a good vob file converter for mac?

I want to use some old family videos and stills in a new iMovie.  How do I convert .BUP, .IFO, .VOB files to use in iMovie?

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D2187Z/A/quicktime-mpeg-2-playback-component-f or-mac-os-x
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
If you are running Lion or later:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion onwards, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it. See this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3381
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. (The same applies to Mountain Lion even though that has it preinstalled.) You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • I cannot open files downloaded with the easy youtube downloader add-on

I am trying to get video clips from youtube so i can edit them together to make my own videos. using the easy youtube downloader add-on, i saved the videos to an mp4 format, after the video is downloaded, when i attempt to open it, all the player say that it is not a comptable file format (eventhough the save says .mp4) or the codec is unsupported, what can i do to support the codec, or obtain the videos in a fashion i can use them?

    Which player are you using?
A program like VLC or MPlayer is capable of playing a lot of media files.
