VOB Video files play in Premier Elements but not in Organizer

I just purchased a new Dell Studio 15 Laptop, running Windows 7 (64bit), with an i7 cpu, and my VOB video files play and show a thumbnail in Premier Elements 8 but do not in the organizer.  Has anyone found this problem and a solution?

Hunt
Thank you for responding so quickly.  I first installed my Premier Elements 8 and Photoshop Elements 8 on our Vista desktop  computer, and everything worked fine.  I purchased my laptop with a  high end cpu, hoping to improve performance,  and moved my application over, and now I am unable to play these videos when in the Organizer, while they do play in Elements (they played in both applications on the slower Vista computer).
I tried to update premier elements to 8.0.1, (I am running 8.0)  but the updater sayes no updates are available.
I created the VOB files from my old family video tapes using a Sony DVDirect  DVD Recorder, model MRD-MC6 if that helps.  I didnt try to strip data from the files, because I dont know how, and think I shouldnt have to, given that everything worked fine on my older Vista desktop.
One other clue- if I try to import one file at a time to the organizer, I get the following error message:
"The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compressor/decompressor (codec) installed.
Perhaps the Organizer and Premier Elements use different codecs, and the on in my organizer doesnt work."  Any ideas how to check if I have the proper codec(s)?

  • .mov files play on my computer but not on friend's....

I burned several QuickTimePro-created .mov files to a DVD which I then sent to a friend. When she received it, she was unable to play any of the files and was directed to a webpage with lots of 3rd party plugins with no clear idea which one was needed.
Under Info on the files I see they are encoded with Sorenson H.263, MPEG Layer 3.
My friend has regular QuickTime (not Pro).
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your help.
She tried that but still no luck.
When she tries to play the file, QuickTime launches, bringing up a black box with no video or sound. After trying the maneuver you suggested, the only difference was that a progress bar appeared at the bottom of the black box and moved, as if a video was playing. However, still no video or sound.
    Hmmm.....

  • Mov file plays well on PC but not on MAC!

A friend of mine converted a video in QT on his PC and it plays perfectly fine on any PC but when i play that same file on QT for OS X the audio is sped up and is out of sync from the video.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

No, the Mac only displays ONE menu bar also if you connect two monitors. You can select the monitor which should display the menu bar in System Preferences -> Displays.
Also there is a tool called Secondbar? But never tried it myself.

  • .mov files play in quicktime 10 but not quicktime 7

i have .mov files that I made in the qt version before 7
I upgraded my OSX to 10.6.7
I purchased the Pro version of QT 7

    So...
I tried to find Quicktime 10 to purchase on the Apple site and they do not sell it
will it be on my snow leopard install disks?

Compare the audio and video compression formats used in the MOV files against the QT component configuration of the two systems in question. You will likely find that the codec components needed to play the MOV files are not installed on upgraded system or the have broken paths or simply need to be updated to work correctly with the non playing system.

It is installed by the Snow Leopard installer but is not stored as a separate application. (I.e., it would have to be extracted from the Snow Leopard installer package but cannot be installed on non-Snow Leopard operating systems.

  • Mp4 and/or .mov files play on my computer but not on host server

I created a movie page using iWeb. When I save it and publish it to a local folder on my computer it works fine. But when I upload it to the server with my host company (not mobileme) the video does not play at all.
I've been on the phone with the host company and they say the file is too large (90mb) and it takes way too long to load. Another person at the same host company told me that the file had to be converted from mp4 to swf (cant find a free converter to do that with to test it) and lastly I've read and tried some of the post here but they don't work.
When I check the website on a PC thru IE, it gave me an exclamation mark on the bottom left hand corner of the browser. I clicked on it and here is the error:
self[...].src' is null or not an object
    iWebSite.js line 496
I check google for this error but I cannot understand what the problem is.
If there is anyone out there that can help I would really appreciate it.
    thanks

The file is a bit big and you would be better to upload it to somewhere like YouTube or Vimeo.
The suggestion that you convert it to flash is because this is a more universally acceptable format. A lot of PC users don't have QuickTime player installed.

  • .MOV files play in Quicktime 7, but not in Quicktime 10.2

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to OS X 10.8.2. I have the newest Quicktime (10.2) and Quicktime 7 (Pro). There seems to be a problem with Quicktime 10.2.  It opens, but cannot play, my .mov files. Quicktime 7 still plays them perfectly, though.
Any thoughts on how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks!
    -AO

    There's nothing to fix.
QuickTime 10 can't play all of the formats (codecs) that play just fine in QuickTime Player 7.
    Use both versions.

  • Export for web files play on one server, but not on another.

I exported my movie from QT Pro 7.6.6 and it created all the files I need. I have the movie "sniffer"(movie that determines which version to pull up depending on device) and then the sub movies. When I go straight to the sniffer in Safari with the files on my client's server, the movie plays fine. When I do the same from my iPad or iPhone, it won't play from that server.
If I move the exact same files to another server and go to the sniffer, the movie plays on all devices. Could there be some sort of server setting preventing them from being played on my client's server?
If so, what specifically needs to change on the server?

  • AVI file imports into Premiere Elements but not Premiere Pro CS5.5

I tried to import an avi file into Premiere Pro 5.5, only to get the message: "Unsupported format or damaged file." The weird thing is, I have no problem importing the same file into Premiere Elements 1.0 and Premiere Elements 3.0. From the message boards, I somewhat understand that avi is a container and that there are actually 1000s of different formats within that "avi" label. Anyone know why PE is more capable than Pro on this task? Any solutions?

What is this HDR-HS7E - a miniDV camcorder that lets you do DV and HDV capture firewire?
True, the DV and HDV capture firewire into the Premiere Elements 13 Capture window is gone. But, have you
looked at the workaround suggested by PRE_help in this forum. The workaround is found in the following
    Adobe document....

I want to create a HD disc with my Adobe Premier Elements but I am getting low resolution.  When I go to share the DVD to disc the form only offers 8pixels at the bottom.  How do I burn this DVD in HD with higher number of pixels?  I have read other forums on burning HD DVD's but I do not see the option to turn the 8 pi into 40 pi the one forum recommended.  I want my DVD to be HD so I may sell these videos online for my business.  I can't sell them the low quality they are burning now.  Hopefully you can help me.  Thanks.

    Thank you for your reply.
You cannot burn your high resolution video that you can view on your computer to an AVCHD on DVD disc
that will replay through a regular DVD player. But players are marketed under a variety of names with
different support opportunities. One manufacturer may call its product MultiMedia Player, media player, Blu-ray player,
etc.The bottom line is the specifications for each of the players that are candidates for the playback of
the AVCHD format on DVD disc or the format of interest.
If you upload your HD (1920 x 1080) video to YouTube, YouTube converts the video to flash format, but it goes up as the HD video.
But, beware. Look at the YouTube viewing setting when your uploaded video is playing back. The YouTube default is not
HD. It might be 360p, 480p. If you have a 1080p video, then before the YouTube playback, you should be looking
at the video with the YouTube 1080p HD setting for best viewing. That is a YouTube matter.
    Best results depend on you
    a. setting up the Premiere Elements project preset to match the properties of the source media. That means, if
you have 1080p source, you (manually) or the project (automatically) set the project preset at
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR [email protected]
or the PAL counterpart, depending on your region need.
    b. if you upload your video to YouTube using the Premiere Elements feature, there is a HD preset, but you cannot
customize it.....if you need customization, then you can export your Timeline to a file...in this example
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets = MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p30 or PAL counterpart
and then customize the preset under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of that preset. In increase quality, you might look to increase
the Bitrate under Advanced Button/Video Tab settings - without compromising the file size.
Then you would upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
All of the above are factors that need looking into in order to determine the why for what you wrote
I have published a shortened advertisement video to YouTube- say 5 minutes-
    and it is low quality
Often SD video upscaled to HD can present poorly. But, you are dealing with a HD workflow so that should not be introduced into the matter. The setup of the project and
the properties of the source video are important, but let us start with the above and rule in or out those considerations first.
Thank you. As always, any clarification needed, please do not hesitate to ask.

Is Adobe software overpriced? Opinions vary.
And FCPX is a bloated inefficient Apple app not ready for prime time, but will function nicely as a hardware upgrade requirement, it's already started. Why do you think it's so cheap.

  • Slow playback on Roku2 of MOV file after Adobe Premier Element Export

I have video files from a flash camcorder that encodes as MOV files.  This plays back fine on Roku2 using Roksbox and also on Real Player.
When I export a video file from Adobe Premiere Elements 4 the playback through Roksbox to Roku2 is horribly slow, with no audio.  The exported file from Adobe Premiere Elements plays fine on Real Player.
I have tried a host of different setting in Adobe (H264 and MPEG4 encoders, frame size, max bit rate) all to no avail.  Perhaps I am missing a critical setting.  I think the problem is somewhere in Adobe Premiere because I have been successful in using Full Video Converter Free 9 program to produce MPG4 files and they have played back fine through Roksbox and Roku2.
    Any suggestions very appreciated.
