Vocabulary maintenance during 4.6C-ECC6

Hi Experts,
We are doing upgrade project from 4.6C to ECC6.
Since we are MDMP system so we have to maintain system vocabulary.
We have copied PRD system to a sandbox SDB. in SDB 4.6C, we did the vocabulary maintain task and export the vocabulary as a transport request (table contents of UM4PMDIT), after that, SDB was upgrade to ECC6 successfully.
Currently we are starting to upgrade PRD now, my question is: do we need to manually maintain the system vocabulary again in PRD or just import the transport request which contain the exported vocabulary in SDB?
Thank you in advance.
Fresh_man

Hi Fresh_man,
You can import that transport into production to avoid manual steps again.
Thanks,
Siva Kumar

  • ZSearch Help: will it remain during upgradation from ECC6 to higher version

    Hi,
During upgarde from ECC6 to higher versions, will zserach help be moved to higher version automatically or will it be removed and I have to create ZSearch Help again in the higher version.
What about the ZTable, will it be there in higher version or I need to create it again in the higher version.
    Thanks,
    Priyanka.

    Hello Priyanka
Upgrading your SAP system will <b>not affect</b> your Z-objects <b>directly</b>.
However, if your Z-objects reference (i.e. use) SAP standard objects that are changed (or, rarely, are deleted) during upgrading then you may have to adjust your Z-objects. Therefore, keep your (automatic) test scripts available (e.g. eCATT) and run them immediately after the upgrade has been finished.

  • Table Maintenance, during upgrades

    Experts,
How do we handle table maintenance generator screens and t-codes during upgrades (for Z tables)? Do they come up in the SPAU list post upgrade or is there anything to do in SPDD during ACT_<version> stage?
    Tx, in adv.

    Hi,
Shaji is correct. Table maintenances are corrected after the upgrade is applied by the BASIS team. You will just have to re-test those table maintenances.
If you are also doing Unicode Conversion as well. Then you need to make sure to set Unicode Checks Active for the function pool related to your table maintenance.
i.e you have in table maintenance stored in function group ZMYFUNC. Then you need to go to the "generated" function pool SAPLZMYFUNC and set Unicode Checks Active.
Unless your table maintenances have lots of custom logic in them, you generally would not encounter any errors at all.

  • Report writer issue during upgrade to ecc6

    Hi all,
On generating report of report writer through GR5G (we are regenerating because we were getting dump for this report after up gradation from 4.6c to ecc6)we found one syntax error. The error is in auto generated program we can see that error but cant fix it as it needs a key and maybe that might not also be the right method to resolve it as auto generated codes should not be touched . So what would I like to ask  is how can error come in auto generated program and how do I fix it (error is in data declaration QUOTDATE_MAX(08)                       TYPE C VALUE '). Here u can see that instead of ‘’ only ‘ is used there is no closing inverted comma.

  • For an SAP enterprise(4.7), how to add java stack during upgrade to ECC6.0?

    Source release:  an R/3 4.7 32bit
    Target release: ECC6.0 64bit (abap+java)
My plan is to go over the following upgrade steps:
    4.7 32bit-> ECC abap only 32bit ->ECC abap 64bit -> install java stack.
    Is this the best way?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
Its always best to go to the enhanced and latest version.
    _+4.7 32bit-> ECC abap only 32bit ->ECC abap 64bit -> install java stack.+_
the above step will increase only only the cost.
If ur going for just practice purpose, then no issues u can go for it.
But its always good to go for
    4.7------> Ecc(ABAP + JAVA) together.
coming to 32bit and 64 bit. Some constraints are there. If u look at Ecc 6- SR3, it will only support 64 bit.
Look at all those sections and go for upgrade.
    Regards,
    Ravi

Check to see whether the profile parameter "zcsa/system_language" is set to a value other than D or E in the instance or default profile of the shadow system. If this is the case, change this parameter to D or E. Stop the shadow system and repeat the phase.
How to Stop and Start Shadow sytem :
    Stopping the shadow instance
Start R3up (as of Basis 700: SAPup) as the user <sid> adm as follows:
                 R3up (SAPup) stopshd
Alternatively, you can stop the shadow instance as follows:
                 <upgrade_directory>/<SID>/homeshd/< SID>/stopsap DVEBMGS<SHDSYSNO> r3
where <SHDSYSNO> is the instance number of the shadow system.
    Starting the shadow instance
Start R3up (as of Basis 700: SAPup) as the user <sid> adm as follows:
                 R3up (SAPup) startshd
Alternatively, you can start the shadow instance as follows:

  • How to switch back to old depreciation calc method during upgrade to ECC6.0

    Hi Everyone,
We are doing a technical upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 and we have activated the enterprise extension EA-FIN via SWF5 (switch framework) to use the functionality of accrual engine, closing cockpit etc. However, activating EA-FIN has activated the new depreciation calculation method (Period based depreciation calculation) which, we do not want. We still want to continue using old depreciation method (transaction based depreciation calculation).
So, is there a customization that turns off the new depreciation calculation? Or an OSS note? I read in SDN Wiki and it said, one has to post a customer message (OSS) to SAP and they in turn provide the notes to switch back to old depreciation method and also it is mentioned that these notes are not available in service market place. Is that how it is? Had anyone got into this issue before? Please help me in this regard.
    Thanks in advance,
    K

You already found your answer on the Wiki:
I read in SDN Wiki and it said, one has to post a customer message (OSS) to SAP and they in turn provide the notes to switch back to old depreciation method and also it is mentioned that these notes are not available in service market place.
What is not clear about that?

  • Address Maintenance during new Co Code Creation

    Dear Experts,
I am implementing some new additional company codes in our system. We went live few years back and have got a requirement for few new company codes to be setup.
When I copy creation of a new company code using EC01, an address pointer gets created in Table T001 in field ADRNR. However the problem for me is the value in this ADRNR field in my development system is not the latest available number in Production System. The number in Development system is already in use in Production system.
So when I send the transport request to Prod system, the ADRNR field with the value overwrites the existing address data there. In Prod system that ADRNR value might represent a vendor address or a customer address.
My question is how to tackle this ADRNR creation at the time of copying a new Co Code using EC01?
    Please provide your expertise.
    Regards,
    Sanjay Barnwal

    Hello
Can you re set the current number in number range series in SA01, No 01 in DEV at par to Prod
    go to T code SA01
    go to ststus
change the current number in DEV as per PROD.
    Thanks

  • SPUM4 Vocabulary

    Dear All,
We are in the process of sap upgrade 4.6 C à ECC6.0 Combine Upgrade and Unicode Conversion (CU and UC).
The active languages in our system UK,CS,DE,EN,FR,HU,IT,DLA,PL,NL,NO,PT,SK, RU,ES,FI,SV.
As per sap note 756535(SAP Vocabulary for Vocabulary Maintenance for SPUMG & SPUM4), we have auto assigned Vocabulary delivered by SAP.
And then as per sap note:  871541(Frequently used text patterns), we have imported SAP delivered frequently used text patterns extracted from 11 European and Asian languages.
Also after assigning all vocabulary provided by sap, there are still 65000+ words which are not covered by the any of the provided language vocabulary.
Is there any sap standard way/notes/guides to handle this situation and assign language for remaining 65000 words as this information is not provided in the guide.
    Thanks & Regards
    Rahul

    Hi Rahul,
There are various methods to maintain the vocabulary with the correct language keys (which are also listed in the CU&UC guide):
    a. Import of existing vocabulary (see SAP note 756535)
    b. Language dependent scan (optional - would skip it for PRD)
    c. Creation and use of hints (see SAP Note 1034188)
    d. Statistical methods based on technical attributes (not available for 4.6c)
    e. Statistical methods (see SAP note 756534 / not available for 4.6c)
    f. Use of vocabulary patterns (see SAP note 871541)
    g. Manual Maintenance (made by native speakers)
For all automatic or semi-automatic methods it is important to check the result with native speakers. This is especially valid for methods b) u2013 f). The manual maintenance should be executed by native speakers.
The sequence of the methods listed above can be used as a hint how to do sequencing during the actual maintenance (of course this is just a proposal - variations are possible). It is pretty clear, that e.g. the manual maintenance should be minimized and therefore should be executed at the end of the list. On the other hand side, existing vocabulary (SAP vocabulary and / or customer vocabulary from earlier scans) should be added at the beginning of the vocabulary maintenance.
For some of the methods described in b. to f. it is possible that the results are not as expected and words are assigned wrongly. Therefore customers need to check the outcome after each step and it is advisable to decide whether to skip the step or make use of it.
In your case it might be useful to have a detailed look into point c: Hint creation
Vocabulary words caused by Company Code dependent tables can be usually assigned to a specific language via company code. Therefore in case of many vocabulary words from this type of tables, it might be useful to create according hints. SAP Note 1034188 lists some more fields (next to company code BUKRS), which are capable to be used for assigning the language via hints. However it needs to be verified with application experts that the selected attributes can be used properly to assign a code page.
Usually it makes sense to create hints only for tables, which contribute a high number of words in the vocabulary. This can be identified via report UMG_VOCABULARY_STATISTIC or UM4_VOCABULARY_STATISTIC
It is recommended to execute UMG_DISTRIBUTE_ASSIGNED_LANGS (see SAP Note 938374) after using the hints.
    Best regards,
    Nils Buerckel
    SAP AG

  • MDMP 46C Combined UC/UPG, vocabulary assignment required pre-upgrade?

I have a question about SPUM4 when doing an Combined UC&UPG on a 46c system.
As per the manual you have to run all the scans to complete SPUM4 in Prepare before starting the upgrade.
But do you have to perform the language assignment of the vocabulary list before the upgrade?
Is it possible to do this using SPUMG after the upgrade?
Basically I am being pushed for time and the project team is not ready to do the language assignments during Prepare. So it would be easier for me if I could do the scans and collate all the information required then perform the upgrade. Once the upgrade is complete, then allow the upgrade team to assign the languages post upgrade using the SPUMG transaction.
I am right in thinking that the vocabulary list has to be completely processed before conversion, this is because the words will use the global fallback which may not be right?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
you have to do the vocabulary assignment in the SPUM4 environment (on 4.6c), if you decide to use CU&UC. In CU&UC it does not make sense to do the assignment after the upgrade.
In case you go for TU&UC, you have to do the upgrade first and then do the vocabulary assignment.
    Regarding vocabulary maintenance:
It would be possible to even leave ALL language fields empty in the vocab and go on with the scans. However this will probably produce millions of entries in the reprocess logs (after the reprocess scan), which cannot be handled. The same will be valid for transaction SUMG, which needs to be executed after the conversion (see UCG). This will result in a completely meaningless test for the SPUM4/SUMG.
If your scope for this test is 100% concentrated on export / import downtime, then this might make sense. However if you are looking for a complete CU&UC test, this does not make sense.
On the other hand side, there are only a few customers who really manage to maintain the vocab 100% - so a small percentage of unassigned words is usually left over. But the goal should be, to get this as low as possible !
Normally in the first trial, the number of the unassigned words in the vocab can be relatively high. But the result of the reprocess scan can be used to assign additional words in the vocab (and rerun the reprocess scan after additional maintenance).
Of course this will take time ! But if you want to avoid problems with many reprocess logs and repair logs, I would recommend to spend some time on maintenance of the vocab.
What happens, if a word is not assigned in the vocab ?
    1) It will produce at least one (probably multiple) reprocess logs
    2) R3load will use the fallback code page for the conversion of one or multple entries and it will write a message in the according xml-file
    3) In SUMG, the according entries (again one or multiple) will show up in the manual repair

  • Email down for maintenance?

why can't apple do "routine" maintenance during non-business hours? why can't they give us advance notice? we are, after all, paying for this email - it ain't free.
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.3.7)

If no advance notice was provided at the .Mac website, this is probably not "routine" maintenance even though it is being called "routine".
Regardless the ISP or email account provider, server problems can and do occur which usually don't last long.
