Vodafone / E-51 problem

I've just signed up to the trial of Vodafone Internet access, and I've been sent a configuration file which I've installed, giving me an access point of: VfISP.
However, when I use it, I get error of "Packet Data: Packet data not available."
My SIM also set up an access point of Vodafone Internet GPRS. This gives me the same error.
Any ideas?

There should be a setting under
tools>settings>connection>access points>Vodafone live
this is the one you need to use it is the wap setting which points to Vodafones web content.
You can use the Vodafone internet ...setting if you type a url in to the browser....say.. www.nokia.co.uk..
Its a bit obscure but go into browser (web) let it run then press left soft button and scroll to ..settings..general ..and select.. always ask...then back out to home screen.
Now start web again and it will go to a panel where you can select what you want to use...if you have wi-fi that will be listed as well
hope this helps...

  • Vodafone Sure Signal problem due to BT stability

Just a quick post to help any Vodafone Sure Signal users who are struggling to make calls.
There are major compatibility issues between SS and the various BT hubs. Go to the vodafone forum to see how many people are struggling to make calls and many suggestions on what to do. I am surprised no one has started a 'class action' against Vodafone!
This post relates to a different problem as I am one of the lucky ones who has managed to get the hub & SS talking to each other properly.
I recently returned from holiday to find that my Sure Signal wouldn't work at all. Classic problem all three lights on but no calls in or out. Tech support sorted it out and it started working --- well sort of!
However over half the time I just got a beep when trying to make a call and never received incoming calls. Anyway after a lot of investigations I noticed that stability of the 'Ping' (latency) on the line was absolutely awful. It didn't affect browsing too much but clearly the SS is very susceptible to lost packets and long ping times.
Spoke with BT Tech Experts who asked me to monitor and report back to them.
I found a piece of software that automates the ping testing called surprise surprise Ping Tester see   www  pingtester.net You can run it in eval mode.
I set it to ping Google every hour for 1000 seconds and found that about 8% of the pings were getting lost and that a considerable amount of the time the ping was over 200ms.
Monitoring started on a Saturday but I didnt start recording the info till Sunday. Then miraculously on Monday morning some time after 9.17 am on Monday the problem went away. (8% lost pings to zero) I suspect that a BT engineer reset something but have no proof of this.
Anyway the problem has gone away for now. See below for actual results. The records for 10 am - 1.00 pm are missing because I left the spreadsheet open and ping tester couldn't write to the file.
I am continuing to monitor the ping and have noticed occasional deteriorations for a couple of hours but so far it has always returned to zero lost pings.

I assume that the Vodaphone box connects via an Ethernet cable?
Which port do you have it plugged into, as there are issues with the Gigabit ports, where packets are lost due to auto-negotiation issues on the Ethernet link.
The Ethernet link pulses on some hardware devices, get corrupted, causing the Gigabit ports to keep swapping between 1Gb and 100Mb, this results in packet loss.
This can be overcome on a computer, by setting the network card to 1Gb Full Duplex, and not Auto Negotiate.
I doubt that this option is available on the Vodaphone device.

  • Vodafone Sure Signal problems

    Hi
Has anybody got Sure Signal working on BT Infinity? Mine works for 30 secs and then just recycles. I have searched on this forum and one poster has "solved" against this topic but with no answer to the problem. http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-in-Home/BT-Infinity-Port-Forwarding-and-Vodafone-Sure-Signal/m-p/61730
    Thanks for any help.
    Richard

hi there.  after what i think is a total fluke, my sure signal box is working.  i got infinity on monday and sure signal today.  set sure signal up as pr instructions, and nothing.  after reading the internet i turned off my new hubs firewall, and set vpn to port clapping and still no bars.  thought that i would have to downgrade infinity back to normal broadband as my phone is my working life.  while on the phone to bt to downgrade, it came on, about 3 hours after i have set it all up.  when i spoke to vodafone, they said that it wouldn't work, the fact that infinity is pppoe and not pppoa being the problem.  anyway, baffled, but its on and working.  currently enjoying full five bars on an iphone 4, with 3g and everything.

I have a n97 on vodafone. since i've had it nearly 2 weeks now, clearly its a a non runner full of bugs. But, has anyone like me, on vodafone. I've noticed when no internet access through 'My web' facebook doesn't run. Apparently its a vodafone error 403/404 server fault. facebook runs ok when vodafone live works but this server keeps crashing. Anyone else have problem? or is it my phone?

  • Vodafone 3G disconnection problem

I'm testing a 3G usb modem provided by vodafone (K3765-Z model). I'm using vodafone-mccd 2.25.01-1 to connect and it's ok, but at different periods of time it disconnects (modem shows a red light). It's also happens using only wvdial to make the job.
There is no connection issue using windows xp.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Sure Signal Problems

Our Vodafone Sure Signal stopped working last month. Vodafone have checked what they needed to and said all is OK. They have advised I speak to our ISP(BT) and check the router settings. Tried doing this through Live Chat, told they are "not trained" for this!
Can I see what the settings are without going through BT?
    Appreciate any help
    Cheers

If you are on option 1, then your IP address may be shared, which may stop it working. Did you change anything a month ago, like enabling Parental controls?

  • Help me with this messaging problem

I was using a SIM card of Airtel. i recently switched to Vodafone but the problem is that every 3rd or 4th message now goes undelivered. The Vodafone SIM works fine on other phones and the Airtel runs fine on mine. But i want to use the Vodafone on mine . What to DO?

if your sim card is older perhaps it would not be a bad idea to get a new one from your provider.

  • N70 from Vodafone - generic and network specific i...

Reading this string on the N70 has very been enlightening. I can now start to see the extent of the difference between users real experiences and what I have been told by support people at Vodafone and Nokia. There are technical issues and also some very real commercial issues which I think people should be aware of. It leaves me with the problem to decide what I need to do - return the phone to Vodafone or persist? Views and comments would be very welcome.
I have had Nokia handsets since my first 201 and got my latest N70 from Vodafone at the beginning of December '05. I purchased it over the net and have had to deal with Vodafone through there 191 call centres to try to fix issues. I am now on my third N70 and have lost faith in both Vodafone and Nokia in being able to supply a working product or fix problems.
The issues I have encountered are:
    1.) MMS
Cannot send an MMS message over around 43K - says it is sending, fails, repeats the send multple times and then reports the send failure. After discussing this with Vodafone in multiple calls over many days and weeks they finaly admitted there is a problem but said it was with the N70 and not their network.
    2.) Radio / handset reboot.
Multiple times when I use the radio, it produces a VERY load electrical 'crack', the radio cuts out and the phone reboots / restarts. When it does this, even though I have my security pin request set, it does not ask me for the code. Bug for sure **bleep** also a major security loophole!
    3.) Lifeblog
This came ready installed on the N70 but would not run on the handset. If you go to run it the screen flashes as through it is loading and then returns back to the menu without running. I downloaded the software from the Nokia site and installed it and it still did not work. Vodafone would not help saying it was nothing to do with them and so I called Nokia Club line support to get their help. They walked me through the very same process and it still did not run.
    4.) Firmware version
In the end the Nokia person asked to check the firmware version by inputting *#0000#, it came back as V 2.0539.1.2 19-10-05 AM84 and he immediately said I needed to get this updated to V 3.0546.2.3 and the would likely solve the Lifeblogg issue and maybe the MMS send problem. He said this was not the very latest Nokia version but was the latest available version for Vodafone handsets and their agents could only upgrade my phone to this version and gave me a Nokia agent in my area.
5.) Nokia agents support for firmware upgrades
I called them and they said that they had experienced trouble upgrading the firmware on the N70 which took them a whole afternoon and they would not be doing any more until the Nokia engineer came and showed them how to improve the process and this was likely to be at the end of January '06!
6.) Vodafone - lack of support, especially for web purchases
My advise is to be very cautious about web purchases from Vodafone with regard to support and upgrades. I have found out that they outsource their support to another company - Phonecare. Phonecare do all of the technical upgrades and fixes and the Vodafone stores send customer handsets to them to be fixed. Trouble is that Phonecare will not touch any of the Vodafone handsets purchased over the net. I believe this is because there is no revenue stream to them. So if like me you need to get your firmware upgraded, they refuse to do it and Vodafone cannot do it themselves.
    6.)Nokia escallation of issues
I have called Nokia Club line to get these issues highlighted and escallated asking that someone who manages their Vodafone account would raise these issues. The response was no. I asked for the contact details of a senior Nokia manager to take this up with again the answer was not no.
    7.) Vodaphone - summary
I will not go into all of the exchanges I have had over the last month and a half but, the following is clear:
    * Vodafone is a purely a telesales and marketing operation
    * Their 'technical support' does not exist
    * They have outsourced their technical support to Phonecare
    * They are knowingly selling faulty goods to the public
    * They do not have a way to fix these problems for web sales
    * They can only do this because the sale of goods act does not cover the web
    * They say they only ship N70's with the latest firmware (V3)
    * They are still shipping with the previous version (V2)
    * They have no process to fix the problem for web purchases
    * They do not have details of a technical fix any of above
    * They do not have an technical escallation or QA process
    * they cannot ship me a handset with the correct firmware
    * Vodafone is a 'real' cell like organisation
    * it is impossible to escallate issues
    * You are confined to your 191 immediate contact point
    * You cannot escallate to senior managers within Vodafone.
    * Vodaphone's stated sultion to my problems is either to:
    - change the handset to another make/model or,
return the phone and cancel the contract
Customer satisfaction response to latest Vodaphone - 'Under the tree' 3G experience:
Anger and total frustration - it has cost me many hours in land line calls identifying problems and getting them recognised when it is clear that others had the same experience. I would guess that all Vodafone N70's being shipped by Vodafone have these problems particularly the MMS, Lifeblog and firmware revision. That must be thousands of frustrated users out there and nobody within Vodafone or Nokia is escallating the issues to get it resolved! There response on both sides is to plead ignorance of all issues.
    Current Objective Ratings:
Vodfone 0 out of 10 - Useless, selling faulty goods they cannot repair or support.
Nokia 3 out of 10 - The bits of the N70 that work look nice but, slow O/S - have used faster PDA's with Windows CE. They should take some ownership and do something about the problems their users are experiencing via Vodafone.
And back to my dilema: what to do - I thing I need to return the phone before I get stuck with something nobody can fix...
Unless of course there is another answer out there somewhere?
Any comments from senior Vodafone or Nokia staff that believe they can fix this would be most welcome!

    Thanks for your input.
Dealing with the issues you raise:
I am surprised Nokia do not seem to be interested in looking after their brand and product good name and reputation. They obviously have an OEM contract with Vodafone which will cover things like minimum support level, good will and maintaing Nokias good name and reputation. Someone on that account team should take note and make sure Vodafone conform to the agreement.
MMS; I managed to get a response from a Vodafone 'Technical support' person who said: 'Unfortunately you are the victim of another network issue. The N70 specifically has a network fault sending ANY mms over 40KB in size. I would bet that if the video clip was below this size it would work. This problem IS already with our engineers for resolution. Again however, timescale is not something I can provide.'
The Radio issue: I use the ipod like white headset that comes as standard with the Vodafone N70. I do not think this is the issue as the phone has reset itself when the radio feature and cable were not in use. It is just that it is more noticeable when you are trying to listen to the radio and you get a very loud 'Crack' as the Radio stops.
Lifeblog: Maybe it is me but, I cannot seem to find anything on this notice board covering this issue?
Firmware: I was told by Nokia I gad to go to a Nokia agent to get the firmware upgrade and the response I got from the agent was that this was currently a problem and they were waiting for the Nokia engineer to sort it out before they wouil attempt it again and that would likely be at the end of January!
With regard to Network providers - I have read this board and am aware of problems with all major Network providers offering the N70. I asked Nokia directly who I should use and they refused to comment and directed me to look at this notice board to help me make my own mind up. After reading this board I am no wiser as to who can provide a fully functional N70.
    - Many thanks for your input and comments.

Hello I have 2 problems with my nokia 6280. the first one is I have to change the phone book settings to read the number from the phone and not the sim and the phone. Even thou it is selected to read the phone phones memory it would still show the sim contacts. I have to go to the phones setting to change at least 4 imes a day.
The other problem is much bigger. Lately the headphone logo is showing up on the screen even thou it is not plug in. At present I can only use the loud speaker.

  • N73 and Vodafone live!

We have just taken delivery of a brand new SIM free N70 and N73.
Both came pre-configured for GPRS with 4 access point options: Vodafone Internet GPRS; Vodafone live!; Vodafone live!streaming; Vodafone MMS.
On selecting Vodafone live on the N70, the handset connects to Vodafone live! and displays content no problem.
On selecting Vodafone live! on the N70, the handset displays 'Connecting via Vodafone live!, and then displays a white page with a progress bar at the top. The progress bar progresses briefly and then an error message is displayed: 'WEB: unsupported content type". The screen remains white with no content.
I have spoken to Vodafone, who have sent me a text message to re-configure my GPRS settings via the Nokia web site. This I have done. I have also switched off the N73 for 20 mins as instructed by Vodafone.
    The problem remains.
Vodafone have now said it is a fault with the handset!
However, I can access the Nokia site via the Vodafone GPRS access point.
The same problem occurs if I choose Vodafone WAP as my access point.
I would be very grateful if some body could shed some light on this issue?Message Edited by william_bell on 10-Aug-2006

    +++ UPDATE 2 +++
On checking the available settings between the N70 & N73 and between the two different access methods on the N73 (web & services) I have noticed some differences...
    N70: Access point/Show images and ob.../Font size/Default encoding/Automatic bookmarks/Screen size/Home page/Search page/Volume/Rendering/Cookies/java-ECMA scripts/Security warnings/Serial No sending/Conf. DTMF sending
    N73 Services: Access point/Home page/Load imgs & sounds/Font size/Default encoding/Auto bookmarks/Screen size/Search page/Rendering/Cookies/java-ECMA scripts/Security warnings/Conf. DTMF sending
    N73 Web: cess point/Home page/Load imgs & sounds/Default encoding/Auto bookmarks/Screen size/Mini map/History list/Cookies/java-ECMA scripts/Security warnings/Block popups
What is most notable is that what appear to be two main settings - Rendering & Conf. DTMF sending - are present in the N70 & N73 Services both of which work; but are not present in the N73 Web, which does not work.
Could this suggest that there may be an error in the Nokia software?

  • TS3672 why can't I send or receive photos in my messages?

Cannot send or receive photos messages on my iphone 4 version 6.1.3.  It all worked perfectly until about 2 months ago ( the phone is almost 3 years old). I received a couple of photos which had been sent 2 weeks previously!  but mostly I get the message to go online (Vodafone) and use a password they provide.  Have been to Vodafone about the problem, they supplied me with a new Sim card and said that would solve the problem but no such luck.  Really annoying!  Any suggestions/solutions gratefully received. Thanks.

  • Nokia 701- bug in 3G

i am facing a peculiar problem. When i use internet on 3G mode the phone reboots automatically almost immediately, whereas it functions normally when used on 2G mode. For the last 5 days i have been facing this problem. I also reinstalled FP2 thinking that it will solve the issue, but it hasnt. Please help.

Hey Buddy, Dont worry about your rebooting problem. I have faced this problem when i first purchased my mobile in october 2011.   The main problem is the network issue, put another service provider sim card in your mobile and use it for a day or two and tell me whether your are facing the same problem or not.
    {{{I used Idea here in my Andhra Pradesh, when i shifted to Karnataka there also i have purchased the same service provider sim card ( Idea) but due to the frequency they are transmitting ( 701 has this problem it cant take some frequencies ) it used to restart nearly 5 - 8 times in a day. I was very much worried and i used to visit Nokia CC point now and then for re-installing the software but its of no use, then after doing a lot of research for about a week came to know that some Nokia devices has this problem not only 701. They got the problem solved by shifiting to other service provider. So i have changed to Vodafone and my problem got resolved. }}}
Hope this will help you.  you can email me at   p*****gmail.com for any quick help.

  • A weird circle is appearing on my photos

A weird circle is appearing on all of my photos that I take.
It's really odd and gets annoying after a while. I've been on holiday recently and they're litterally EVERYWHERE. Same size and same spot.
It's not the LCD and it's not the lens (from what I can see).
    http://min.us/mvbnwMN#1
    (The example album)
It happens everywhere.. Even when it's dark!
Should I send this back to Apple?
I'm also having trouble with cracks above the 'silent mode rocker', there's a crack in the plastic there.

Doubt it's the weather conditions then but it's still possible something like that could have affected it at one point so don't be suprised if they check the white tabs are still white at the bottom of the headphone jack and inside the 30-pin dock connector. They turn red due to moisture.  One other thing, it  could simply be a tiny piece of dust on the inside of the camera lens or on the sensor.  This could be really hard to spot too except in the photographs.  The main issues with the camera that I'm familiar with is a green or bluish tint in photographs which can happen under certain lighting conditions...
You shouldn't need insurance to sort this out though, since it should be covered under the manufacturer warranty if it's less than a year old.  Plus, I have a friend who purchased an iPhone 4 from Vodafone but had problems with it and took it to the Genius bar in the local Apple Store. He had the original box and everything and they just swapped it out for another brand new phone. He had his since September last year.
Good luck sorting it out, enjoy your holiday and let us know the outcome.

  • Error after update 2.0.1 (Carrier Settings)

After the update, the iphone asks to make a carrier update.
I click ok and the following appears:
    http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/1463/ituneserroreg8.png
Now, the carrier update is requested everytime that I connect iphone 3g 16gb to my macbook and the error above is displayed if I click to do the update. But never it stops appearing.
By the way, even after that, and without disconnecting the iphone, when I click check for updates, it always appears this carrier update request, and the error if it tryes to do the update.
    The carrier is Vodafone Portugal.

    The problem is old!
    Already solved

  • Help With A Question Regarding Nokia 6300

    Hi everyone,
Im usually quite good with mobiles in knowing what they do and dont accept kinda thing but ive found myself a little ticked off a Vodafone right now and im hoping one of you can answer my question please.
As soon as I had charged my phone up I contacted vodafone for the settings in order for me to browse the web on it.  Once I had done that, I had a look for a ringtone I wanted, bought it, waited for the text and when it arrived I went to that link (from vodafone live) and attempted to download it.   All I got was "download failed" twice.
The first time it happend, Vodafone refunded me and told me to wait at least 24 hours before attempted to buy it again which I did, I waited well over 24 hours.
I tried again and the same thing happened so I contacted them once more and just asked them to refund me once more and I just wont bother with it.  They wouldnt, they told me to check if it is compatible or not....im nearly 99.9999% sure this phone takes realtones.  Obviously I could be wrong and ill be embarrassed if it doesnt but could someone answer this and possibly explain why it might not be letting it download?
Ive had nokias before and the settings all seem to be in order, I deleted and moved some stuff to my memory card so im pretty sure there is enough memory.
    Thanks a million.

check here in the "digital services" part http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/devices/nokia-6300/technical-specifications it says true tones. this is it.
it might be Vodafone's network problem that gives you the  "download failed" message.
