Vodaphone wifi keeps opening up a tab

Hi Guys
I have this issue relating to a Vodaphone mobile wifi app that is driving me bonkers! Please see the screenshot below for further details. I bought a vodaphone mobile wifi dubrey for my wife and used my macbook pro to test it all out prior to use on our desktop pc upstairs.I have tried removing anything vodaphone related from my mb but I'm not very technically minded so might be missing something fairly obvious to those more familiar with these things.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Adam.

If you get a program called malware bytes it blocks that window from popping up. Hope that helps :)

  • Browser keeps opening with previous tabs from day before. How do I stop this?

Under Tools>Options>General I have the browser set when I open the browser to "open up a blank page" but it keeps opening up previous tabs from the day before. How can I stop this? I read the forum boards but either did not find it or overlooked the answer. I checked all my other settings and cannot find anything that would be causing this. Please advise?

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

You installed a variant of the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
This malware has many variants. Anyone else finding this comment should not expect it to be applicable.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.2c232f1e4d12129e.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.2c232f1e4d12129e.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.2c232f1e4d12129e.helper.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/2c232f1e4d12129e
    /System/Library/Frameworks/v.framework
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Firefox keeps opening the same tabs on startup instead of the ones from last session

OS is winxp and firefox 3.6.8. This has been fine for a number of months. When closing FF it asks to save tabs and settings and I ok it. But it keeps opeing the same tabs from a week ago.
    Can you help?

A couple of things to check.
Check to see if Firefox is set to open to your home page, if so have the sites that open been set as the home page. Those settings are on the [[Options window - General panel]].
Another possible cause is the file that stores details of sessions may be corrupt. You can delete the files that have details of sessions to see if that helps. Firstly you need to access your profile folder, for details of how to do that see the [[profiles]] article. Once you are in your profile folder, close Firefox and delete ''sessionstore.js'' and ''sessionstore.bak'' (the second file may not exist)

  • Why does this video keep opening in new tab for no apparent reason

This annoying MacDonalds promotional video keeps opening in a new tab for no apparent reason:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOUdR9vly6s
I don't do anything. I'm just reading a web page and a new tab will open with this video playing. Any idea what is going on here?

When does the window open? What were you doing at the time?
What are your HomePage, and Newtab pages?

  • Firefox 4.0.1 keeps opening my new tab as Yahoo, can I change it?

It opens fine, right to my homepage, but after that when I try to open a new tab it opens as "Yahoo! Search - Web Search". I want it to open as a blank page but I don't know how to change it, I tried NewTabURL 2.2.2 but even that didn't work. Does anyone here know what I can do to change this?

I could not find anything in my add-ons.
What I did find was an installed program called ''''Netassistant for Firefox''''.
It was listed in the registry as associated with "freeze.com" .
I uninstalled it and tab now opens with a blank page

    HELP!!
When browsing, new tabs open when I make selections in Safari. I've installed Sophus anti-virus and have scanned my laptop multiple times. Every time I scan with the anti-virus software, the software diagnoses that there where no issues detected. Does anyone have a solution?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
    and
               com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
where the string something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
    Open this folder:
    /Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
               something
where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.

  • Why does Firefox keep opening 3 random tabs while browsing different websites?

Just to clarify: They are never spam websites. They may be 3 of the same website, but it is always random. I only browse safe websites. This usually happens while Stumbling (StumbleUpon).
    For example:
StumbleUpon brought me to this website:
Then it also opened three of this webpage:
They have nothing to do with each other. Why does this keep happening? I searched with Anti-Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware and Microsoft Security Essentials. No viruses.
I have Windows Vista Home Basics 32-bit. And is running Firefox 8.0. (This problem existed in 7.0 and previous as well.

I've already done this, and it says nothing is wrong with my system.

  • Firefox keeps opening a YouTube tab over and over

I have two separate PCs that run the latest version of Firefox.
The homepage on both is the same...www.centurylink.net
When Firefox has been opened for a couple minutes it adds a tab of a YouTube page of a McDonalds Super Bowl commercial. As time goes by it opens more and more tabs of the same thing.
    I have done the following...
    Scan and remove malware...None found
    Ran CCleaner
    Removed Cookies and Extensions
    Reinstall Firefox.
This does NOT happen with Internet Explorer.
    It has me stumped.
    Thanks for any ideas!

  • Why do I keep opening a "new tab" when I want to close the present one? I am just going round in circles.

When I try to close a tab by clicking on its "x", I get a blank page and "new tab". When I click this off, I go back to the previous tab. The only way I can get back to my original page is by going to "History". This happens with both email (clicking on links within the email) and browsing.

  • Ads keep opening in new tabs/pages

I was trying to respond to the question that was asked on this forum because I found out what was doing it... https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/982727
I tried malaware check, virus check... then figured it out. In Control panel first uninstall the two SnapDo programmes (if you have them - solves the issue of not being able to change your irritating new search options)
Then look for a programme on the list in your Control Panel List called fst_za_17
That's the little naughty that is messing with you... After uninstalling it I FINALLY fixed the freaking issue.
    Cheers

I will marked this as resolved via [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/982727]

  • When i try to enable a download, it opens over 100 tabs in the toolbar and keeps on opening them???

i can't download anything!!! when i try, it keeps opening endless 'new tabs' and doesn't stop....i even uninstalled and reinstalled firefox but its still doing it.....i get on internet explorer and try to download and it opens firefox and continues to open endless tabs..what is going on?????

You should never select the Firefox program as the application to open a download if you get an "Open with" download dialog to prevent that from happening.

  • Safari opens with old tabs on start up

Safari keeps opening with old tabs from about 3 weeks ago rather than my home page. On start up safari is showing as open and there is a folder in the right hand part of the dock. This has the old tabs in it and safari opens with these and not my home page. I've seen other threads which advise to ensure preferences are set correctly etc but none of this has worked. All settings are for my home page to open and not previous windows. What confuses me is why these particular old tabs are opening. Any ideas how to get rid of them and for safari to start opening with my home page again. Thanks.

I have been experiencing the exact same issue as eddiethered for the past 2 weeks, I'm having 4 old browser tabs open everytime I launch Safari.  This is not an issue of a settings configuration, it is an issue of a bad .plist or cache from what I can tell.  Like eddiethered, I have ensured the following:
My default homepage is about:blank, so upon Safari launch nothing other than a blank page should appear.
It is not an issue of restarting the OS and having "Reopen windows when logging back in" checked off, when I restart I ALWAYS uncheck that - but in the past week the same apps seem to relaunch automatically when they shouldn't.
This is not an issue of previously closing vs quitting the Safari browser, I Command-Q all my apps when I am finished with them.  Even when I hard-quit Safari, the old 4 browser tabs/websites reappear.
This is not a issue of Login Items as I don't have a single application listed as a Login Item for my Username.
I've also noticed other apps having issues (iChat, Chrome).  As of now Firefox is the only browser that is launching without any issues.  Yes an OS reinstall could be an option but that is a substantial amount of effort I don't want to invest.  Due to the other apps having issues this may be an issue at the OS level and not Safari.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
