Voice Ccontrol and star rating

I'd love to be able to rate songs easier! faster! Command:
"rate song = 4"
The problem with adopting star rating as axsystem is it's a hassle to rate all your songs. This would make it so much easier to adapt to using star ratings.
This feature would promote the use of iTunes DJ and iTunes in general.
Please suggest this feature request!

Photos and star rating??

After doing the software update and changing from iPhoto to Photos I can't seem to figure out how to rate my photos. The directions in "Help" say that I can go to View-Rating- etc. but I don't see that when I look at the drop down menu. I have years worth of photos star rated and that's how I organize my smart albums. Is there an easy way to still do this or have they removed the star rating system?

Lightroom Mobile - Color and Stars rating

In order to be able to use LR mobile as an pre-selection tool we urgently need stars & color rating options for Lightroom Mobile. Can't believe it was left out while designing v1.0. This is just another data field. Apart from the opportunities to retouch the photos which are pretty useless atm, I can wait for them to evolve, the rating stuff is essential to really fall into workflow. So dear LR mobile team, efforts in adding stars and color ratings are really much appreciated. Well and smart collection would be nice as well!
To add some praise. I love the idea and I appreciate that the sync is running pretty good and also the app itself is running smoothly even though the adjustment interface is far apart from being an eye candy. But I would say it's aligned to be an working tool instead of being a feast for the eyes.
So I'm looking forward and hoping more rating features appearing on the horizon soon.

I'm also Product Manager in Product Development for a big company and being in charge of realiziing convergent use cases across the entire device spectrum and therefore totally agree with your approach to get into things. My complaint wasn't meant to be ungrateful it was just the sight of an user which has set up use-cases and workflows to efficiently get the job (even it's a hobby) done. So hope you got it right. I've experienced Lightroom and Photoshop over the past few years a really great tools, but from my point of view, Adobe sometimes is focused to much on being amazing algorithm developers and less customer workflow supporters. I'm really spending a lot of time with my photography partner (also a reallife Product Manager) discussing what could have been from a simple workflows point of view. I'm pretty sure there is quite a lot of wishes our there. From obviousness to edge cases, but we always came to certain points where presumed little efforts would make a huge difference.
To come to an end. I'm looking forward to see star and color rating (and probably support for smart galleries) hopefully very soon. Thank you guys for the move to bring Lightroom to the tablet!

Edit camera raw in Bridge stopped working CS5 (and star rating removed)

I have always had the 'double click edits camera raw settings in Bridge' setting enabled. Half way through editing a batch of 1000 images, instead of opening in Bridge the image opened in Photoshop. I checked the selection in Bridge, re-enabled it, closed Bridge and opened a few times, re-enabled again, re-booted my system, but it still opens raw files in Photoshop. This is extremely irritating as I now have to switch windows every time I go to do the next edit. I don't need Photoshop running for 90% of the edits I am doing. I made no changes to my system during the time that I was editing.
Any ideas?

At the same time as this error occurred Bridge now removes star ratings as in the following sequence:
1 Give image 3 *
2 Double click to edit and raw file opens in Photoshop
3 Edit and save image.
4 Click done and return to Bridge
5 The 3 * rating has been removed and the saved jpg also has 0 *

I have partly solved the problem. I normally convert to DNG but did not do so on this occasion. In the batch were files from a Canon 5D and and Canon 5D mkII. A very small number of the 5D files have the problem above. I converted all these to DNG and I can edit normally. But I am still at a loss as to why some files exhibit this strange behaviour.

2- install plugin in application

Star rating disppear from images in Lightroom

When shooting tethered, my client has chosen the images and star rated those she likes. When I imported all the raw files into Lightroom 5.4, all the star rating are missing.
How can I see the star rating again in Lightroom? I cannot remember all the images that are chosen.
Can someone please help?

I have a feeling the * are lost; but as others, I can only understand the importing of the untethered files which I guess were not starred.
After the bull has escaped>>To keep the order as photographed you only needed to select "capture time" for Sort. Files could be moved into one job folder and everything is in order as long as any different cameras have the same time. I have made THAT mistake

Hi,
One of my ex-colleagues has installed a NI-DAQ 6.5 in our system. [And I do not see any other naitional instruments card in the CPU of the computer, may be he removed it] I deleted the account and all his files in the system. When I am trying to install version8.0, its not getting installed and giving me a message that I should uninstall the previous version by going to Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
I tried doing that, but the "Change/Remove" button does not seem to work...[There is no response and so unable to install the new version...]
Any idea how can this problem be solved?
It is a windowsXP operating system with SP2 installed on a machine with P4 processor.

Upon updating to the new Photos program, all the previous "My Ratings" (1-5 stars) for photos have been removed. Why? My "Smart Albums" using the "My Ratings", i.e. photos with a 5 star rating within the past year, have been virtually destroyed in the update. The updates "modified" Smart
Album deleted the "My Ratings" parameter, retained the Date parameter so now Smart Album includes every photo within the date range parameter. Where are the "My Ratings" capabilities ? It appears they have been removed. If so, why ?

Photos doesn't have true star ratings.
However, when photos are migrated from iPhoto or Aperture to Photos, they will have keywords assigned, like "1 star" or "5 stars". You can create smart albums based on these keywords.
You can also assign keyboard shortcuts so if you're in the keyword pane and type 1, it will assign the "1 star" keyword.

ITunes 9.0.3 and 1/2 Star Rating

I recently upgraded from a G4 PowerBook running OS 10.4.11 to a used MacBook Pro with 10.6.2 but with iTunes 8.0 installed. I've since upgraded to iTunes 9.0.3 which connects without a flaw to my iTunes music folder, kept on a wireless external hard drive (Time Capsule).
However, I now notice that I can no longer give individual songs half (1/2) star ratings like I could in v8.0 - did that option go away with v9.0 or am I doing (or, have done) something wrong?
In v8.0, clicking between stars would give the half-star rating I'd come to appreciate. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Most likely you have set the wrong file as the external editor. You don't want the obvious one; that's just a link to the welcome screen. Go back and choose this one, which is hidden away inside the folder Support Files:

Feature Request: Advanced Star Rating

Is anyone else really interested in advancing star rating?
I rate all of my songs whenever I can. I wish every playlist had the ability to play higher rated songs more often. Not just smart lists. I have an idea tho as well that would be great. It should be very easy to choose your rating limitations in a playlist... maybe even have it as an extension of your PLAY button. You click play, drag down and choose which ratings you would like to limit your playlist to. Also... I want to be able to rate my songs through SIRI! We need to make rating songs as easy and natural as possible.
What if we could group songs into different "moods". This would be a way of putting all of the slow songs, heavy songs, instrumental songs into their own categories regardless of the umbrella "genre" that covers the entire album.
I think setting the "mood" of a song could be done at the same time on your iPhone as you are rating the song through gestures. So if you have 4 moods associated with your iPhone/iPod then when you click your Star you then drag down which reeals a list of moods to then choose. So you click the Star of your choice for the song and then drag down to choose the mood of the song. This is useful even within playlists because you can have a playlist playing and suddenly "switch the mood" and/or star rating limits of the playlist on the fly.
I think this type of feature will determine the music players of the future.
Until music players can read our minds! Yes, I honestly believe one day music players will know what you want to listen to even when you dont! Just by analyzing your mood... you know those times when you ask yourself... "what do i want to hear right now!" The music player of the future will tell you... Let's help get there!
