Voice control and play order

I noticed that playing songs by artist via the voice control feature ("play artist whoever") results in all the albums being played +as albums+. By contrast, if you select an artist from the menus, and play "all songs", it plays them in alphabetical order by song.
Since I prefer to listen to albums in the original order, this is an unexpected benefit to the voice control feature.
I just wish they'd bring back the "shuffle by album" feature; I miss that.
Anyone notice any other useful quirks?

I can use my Jawbone 2 to activate voice control just fine. As if it were any other phone that has had this technology for years.
As far as using "Activate Voice Control and request(ing) whatever", the 3rd contact on my Favorites list can get me hookers and crack cocaine, so does that qualify?
Summary: Click on button at the top of my Jawbone -> Activates Voice Control -> Say "Dial. Lou. Mobile" -> Wait a few seconds. Say "Lou. Me. The usual." -> press center button on Jawbone to disconnect. -> go back to watching Sports Center.

How to control shuffle play order?

Hi Everyone
I have an Ipod shuffle I think its 4th gen.
On the computer control panel I can delete songs Import songs in the library. I can check and uncheck. I can rate songs, I can follow all the advise from users and help forums online. I cant seem to understand what I'm doing. I do all the above taks thinking it is controlling the play back on the shuffle when I take the shuffle off the usb cable and putton the headphones.
Yet the shuffle plays sequential or shuffle the same exact songs ... I'd say 20 songs of the 120 songs that has been downloaded to it.
Help! How do I play other songs and control my play order in the earphones.

I had to go to play list by highlight one song and right click the choose menu flyout Lawrence's" Ipod
This worked with one song i saw the syncing icon sync notice at the top banner. I had to highlight all new songs and preform that function as a group of songs
That worked .
Q. But it did not over right songs and cant seem to find how to access the shuffles list of songs on the IPOd/shuffle. So I can delete the old songs. ????? The menu in the ITunes manger is difficult and seem to show only songs on iTunes.
I really had to get lucky finding. the above previous trick.

"Tab" control and Tab order of controls inside the tab

Hello everybody,
I have created the tab control with 6 'tabs', inside every tab I have some controls, like edit fields etc. I wanted to make an order of controls for every tab, so I have selected the option "Tab-order settings" from menu "Edit" (sorry for translation, I use non-English version of LabView), and tried to set the order. After saving it with "OK" button it turned out that the order is not changed. Simple it seems that the option doesn't work for controls in tabs. Is this a bug or do you have a solution for this?

Sorry LabviewGuru, but I haven't found anything concerning Tab control and tab order inside it. Of course, I have found the topic "tabbing through front panel objects", but it simply describes how to change order for standard controls, not for controls which are inside the Tab control. But maybe you have another, extended help? So can you please copy and paste to discussion forum message this part of your help which concerns the Tab control and tab order, and then send the message?

Hi. My 4s 's voice control and siri suddenly operate by themself without touching the phone all the time. Tried to swiitch off and when reopen still status quo.Possible that my phone got virus? What should I do?

This is definitely not a virus. There is no known malware capable of infecting iOS, unless it has been jailbroken (ie, hacked to allow apps from outside the App Store).
First, try resetting your device. Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
If that doesn't help, try restoring your device from backups, and if that doesn't help, restore it to factory settings (ie, do not restore a backup). See:

If none of that helps, the issue is caused by some kind of hardware problem, and the device will need to be repaired or (more likely) replaced.

Unexpected voice control and headphone use

We have two iPhone 3 G's in our household that we have used without incident up until this last month. With one phone, my husband used a new set of ear phones (not Apple) and the voice control would come on unexpectedly, over and over to the point that he couldn't listen to music. The same thing started happening with my phone this last week while listening to music with the Apple ear phones. While trying to cancel the voice control over and over, I noticed that the music files sounded corrupt. Any suggestions?

my ipod touch 3G has some interesting problems. the voice control and the main menu eep poping up and there are seems like nothing i can do. i already tried rebooting, but it didn't help. any ipod expert can help？really appreaciate.

Can you do a right click > properties on the Network Controller and on the details tab > dropdown menu, copy the hardware ID and post it here to find out the model/maker of the wireless card.

Btw, were you using the ethernet cable a while ago when you downloaded the WiFi driver on the Y510p? If yes, can you try to reinsert it in and ensure fully contacts the ethernet (it'll usually make a click sound). When finished, press the Windows Key+R then type ncpa.cpl and ensure that the Ethernet connection doesn't say disabled or Network Cable Unplugged.

Voice control and scrolling

I accidently turned on the voice control and now it seems she is also controlling the scrollong on my phone as well !! I have an I phone 3 and I actually got her to shut up but I am still not able to scroll or move around on my phone. When will we be able to rate music using voice control and Siri?

It's pretty cool to be able to control the music app using voice control, but we really need to be able to rate songs too. I mean I can do everything else I need to do with my music with the voice control, except rate music, and always rate every song when I listen to it. Then, once they're all rated, I create a smart playlist with my top rated of that artist and just sync them to the iPhone, so you can see how important rating it to me as well as many, many more iPhone users.
But, let's say I'm listening to music while I'm running and the iPhone is in an armband. I pretty much can't rate any music then, which *****. So, how about a little surprise with the iOS 7.0.3 update. Throw in the ability to rate music using the voice control and Siri. It's not just because you need to fix bugs and focus on future projects that you can't go back and add some cool updates to some of the old features. It would probably take on of your developers like 15 mintues to code it into the OS.
Let's have a happy update soon. Remember, iPhone 4 users are still Apple customers, too and I'm sure the Siri users would like that as well.

I recently dropped my iphone 4 from about 15 feet in the air, had an otter box gel case on it and it did not break the screen, but it will not come on, no back light but can still hear the voice contorl and randomly hear music when I push the center button, I have it password locked but can't see to unlock, any help out there

Just guessing here, but dropping your phone is probably the reason your screen or backlight doesn't work.
Only solution I see is to take it to Apple and buy and out of warranty iphone 4.

Voice Control and phone lock

Hi everyone,
I was testing my new iPhone 4 while I noticed that, despite the fact that there's a passcode set in order to use it, Voice Control still works.
So even if a person does not have the passcode, the phone is allowed to make calls, play music and do everything Voice Control allows.
Isn't that.. wrong?
Or am I missing some different angle for this function?

I am currently in Brazil traveling back to NYC tmw. I accidently , .... playing around with my 13 yr old turned on the voice control.voice over (?) and signed in using "portuguese -Brazilian " as the language of choice even though for the past 4 months I had it set to U.S. English. Now it answers only in Music mode, won't move out of it and in a portuguese that sounds more lie martian than any language spoken on earth. How do I re-set the Nano, get out of this config and back to settings. Anyone out there with an answer since I would like to use tmw on the plane ride home - 9.5 hours. Thks to all ////

I can only make outgoing calls. My home button is only working for voice control and won't take me back to menu. I am only in the calling screen and can't even shut off. What do I do?

I am freaking out! I am a college student and owner of my Iphone 3Gs. I just got it this past August and I don't understand what is wrong. I did not drop it or come into contact with any water or disabling substance. I am literally stuck on the calling page with favorites, recents, contacts, keypad and voicemail. When I push my Home button I am not brought back to my menu. When I hold it down voice control is enabled but I still can't get to my menu. Then when I try to hold the sleep button to shut off nothing happens. What's wrong with my phone? I can't even go into contacts and hit text message nothing happens. Also, when I get a message in nothing happens when I push view. Please help me.

Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Voice Control and Pronounciation

I speak spanish and I use VoiceControl regularly... but I have friends with names that are pronounced in english. For instance, Jenny I have to call her Heni for the voice control to work. How can I solve this without changing the way the name is spelled?

Just an update. I contacted Adobe support and their answer was that third party voices can be used in Captivate but there is no way to control the pronounciation or adding pauses in Captivate. This is only possible for Neospeech voices where you may use VTML-tags. According to me that means that Captivate is NOT really compatible with 3rd party voices, SAPI5-complient or not.
The 5-6 included voices from Neospeech all sound too robotic and my client was amused rather than impressed when hearing them. I really wanted to use a quality voice and bought Amy from IVONA. I am very disappointed that it can't be used easily in Captivate. The work around is to record a sound-file for each page and import, which will take twice as long for each page and be harder to keep updated.

IPod keeps Turing on voice control and face time

My iPod (4g, iOS 6.0.1) often turns on voice control or tries to face time one of my contacts when it is sleeping, and I've tried restoring it and nothing has changed, what can I do?

I don't know if you can turn it off, yet. That may be coming with a software update at some point. If you're okay with using the passcode feature, You can turn off the Voice Dial feature:
Settings->General->Passcode Lock->Voice Dial.
This may be a temporary fix until we'll have the option to turn it off completely as a setting.
