Voice control being crazy

My iPhone keeps going crazy, it will randomly open voice control and play music and then close voice control, and often causes the music to speed up, this only appears to have started after the recent apple up date, what can I do?

I had the problem on my 4 but I thought it was just old. Now, my Iphone 6 is 2 days old and it is doing the same thing!!!!!!
The voice control activates on it's own for no reason and then impacts music play. The songs are sped up and then skip around as voice control keeps cutting in. I do not have shake to shuffle on and I do not have Siri active. This seems to be a recurring problem since the 3. Can Apple please address it, I am about to return my Iphone 6!!

holy cow, I thought I was cursed until I read your question. My iphone 4 was driving me crazy for its last month activating Voice Contol on its own. I too thought it had just gotten old. I've had my 6 plus for two days and the same thing is now happening!!   That inane blue screen and doorbell noise popping up.   I feel like throwing the phone at the wall.
Seeing you have the same problem is a bit insightful because it suggests that it's not the phone but something else. How else could both of us have identical problems at the same time with four phones?
i am wondering if somehow we have a bugged backup that is causing the problem to propagate itself?   Sometimes my ipad 2 also has music playing issues but no voice control problems. I.e., I can be listening to Pandora and suddenly the music pauses itself.
Another problem I had on my iphone 4 at the end was that it would suddenly pause music as well. Other times it would speed playback up as if I were holding the scrubbing key down. Did you have anything similar?
I wonder if backing the phone up with a version say two months or so ago is worth a shot?

Is there a way to calibrate voice control on ipod touch ios 6.0.1?

it seems like every time I update to a new ios it just causes a new problem. not usually a big one, but something. last time (when I updated to ios 6) my app store kept crashing. this time the biggest problem I'm having is that since updating to ios 6.0.1 my voice control can't seem to understand me. I ask it to play artist "pink" and instead it somehow thinks I've asked it to play songs by "greenday" or, even funnier "mannheim steamroller" it's like I'm playing russian roulett on whether or not it will actually understand me, only instead of 6 chambers and one bullet (it misunderstanding me being the bullet) it's more like 1,000 chambers and 999 bullets. I have pretty much given up on voice control for now, which means I don't get to change what I'm listening to if I'm driving, since I'm very safety conscious and will not look at the screen to change it. does anyone know if there is a way to calibrate the voice control?

Nothing special for VC. You can try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

Voice control and play order

I noticed that playing songs by artist via the voice control feature ("play artist whoever") results in all the albums being played +as albums+. By contrast, if you select an artist from the menus, and play "all songs", it plays them in alphabetical order by song.
Since I prefer to listen to albums in the original order, this is an unexpected benefit to the voice control feature.
I just wish they'd bring back the "shuffle by album" feature; I miss that.
Anyone notice any other useful quirks?

I can use my Jawbone 2 to activate voice control just fine. As if it were any other phone that has had this technology for years.
As far as using "Activate Voice Control and request(ing) whatever", the 3rd contact on my Favorites list can get me hookers and crack cocaine, so does that qualify?
Summary: Click on button at the top of my Jawbone -> Activates Voice Control -> Say "Dial. Lou. Mobile" -> Wait a few seconds. Say "Lou. Me. The usual." -> press center button on Jawbone to disconnect. -> go back to watching Sports Center.

I'm having an issue with my iphone 4, when using with a 3rd party set of earbud headphones that include an inline microphone, wind and ambient noise cause the voice control to go haywaire. I've found the option to turn off voice dialing for the phone, but can't find a way to shut this off in iPod mode. Help? Please? It's driving me crazy...

I have the same problem with my ipod touch 4th generation. It only started a few days ago after I finally updated it ios 6.1.6; I never knew Voice Control existed on my ipod before then.
It has not happened when I had headphones plugged in, only when it was sitting by itself on a table and I wasn't touching it.
The first time it happened, it was sitting on my night table at 4am while I was sleeping. The second time it happened, it was sitting on my desk at work while I was quietly typing; I had to apologize to my coworkers while I tried to figure out how to make it stop. Just now it happened again, sitting on my kitchen counter while I was on the other side of the room. It has happened about four more times while I was sitting here at the computer researching the problem. I even checked to make sure the case (Otterbox) wasn't pressing on the Home button, and it's not.
I HATE IT!!!!!! It makes me so angry! If I can't figure out a way to make it stop, I'm going to have to stop using it altogether. Is that what you want, Apple? And no, I won't upgrade and buy a newer model; I'll get an Android version.

Voice control when not connected to internet

Is it possible to use voice control with a touch 5 when not connected to internet? when I hold down the home button or the mic on earpod remote all I get is a message that siri is not available and am instructed to connect internet. Does voice control (for music for example) not exist unless I have internet and this bloody accursed siri on?

Thanks I had already seen that but as I said I kept getting the message about Sire not being available. I talked to AppleCare and the secret, if anyone else has the problem, is you must disable Siri in settings before using the voice control.

Voice control with any other headphones/earbuds?

Boy do I like Voice Control -- went out shopping today and was able to play whatever music I wanted and make calls all without even touching my phone (just that middle button on the Apple earbuds).
But... let's face it, folks, the earbuds suck when it comes to quality sound. I note there are some others that have a microphone included but don't know if they work with voice control or not. Yeah, I know, early days, but I'm hoping someone out there already has a pair that has tried them with the 3Gs and knows.
So -- any other quality sound phones that also use the voice control?

Many of these were apparently made to solve the problem with the original iPhone's recessed headphone jack. With the 3G (and I assume 3GS), the plug ends up being too big which creates a strain on the jack, not something I want on my new iPhone.
There seem to be quite a few all-in-one solutions though, here are a few on Amazon which have pretty good reviews:

It'll probably be a while before someone tests one of these with voice control, but I would think that any mic should work.

Why does voice control keep coming on when i use my ipod

When I'm using my ipod (on the iphone 3 GS), the music will play and then all of a sudden the voice control comes on and interupts the song. I can't get it it stop. I'll click to cancel but then a few seconds later it comes on again and again. I'm using the headphones that came with the phone (white ones). Sometimes I put the phone in a case and strap it to my arm. Other times the phone will just be sitting on the excercise machine but the voice control keeps coming on even though the button isn't being pressed. Any ideas what to do??

Voice Control randomly turns on

I have a problem that is driving me crazy. I purchased a 32gb iPhone 3GS about 3 months ago and I have had an issue with the voice control since the day I brought it home. I have an auxiliary audio jack in my car so I always connect my iPhone to my car stereo to play music. For some reason whenever my iPhone is connected in this way the voice control constantly comes on.
I understand that holding down the home button on the face of the phone is what is "supposed" to bring up the voice control option but that is not the case in this instance. Rather I will be listening to music, or simply pick the phone up while connected so I can change the song (but before I have actually touched any part of the phone) and the voice control will come on - stopping the song and forcing me to hit "cancel" in order to get back to the music. This is incredibly frustrating because it's happening while I drive and what makes it worse is the fact that since the phone is on voice control, and connected to my stereo, whenever I move it the sharp crackling from sound going through the microphone is broadcast through my car's speakers.
I have read through a few threads and there doesn't seem to be any way to deactivate voice control - but I could be wrong. Does anyone have any idea how to permanently shut off voice control? Has anyone else had this same problem? I can't figure out why this would be happening or what I can do to prevent it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'm having the same problem except it happens when I'm trying to use voice dialling. I speak into my bluetooth headset to dial a number and it starts up my music or other things. I did find something on youtube on how you can disable voice control altogether by downloading some program but haven't tried it because I don't know if it will disable all voice control including voice dialling or just voice control for the rest of the phone. Why are my headphones activating siri and voice control?

This just started happening the other day after I updated it. When I plug my headphones in, it activates siri, and if siri is off it turns on voice control. Is there anyway to fix this? I like being able to switch the songs on my headset and not have to pull my phone out everytime. And the voice contol thing is pretty annoying, how do i turn it off?

Are you using the included Ear Pods with remote that came with your iPhone? Please follow the steps below to see if the center button could be stuck, causing this to occur.
The stereo headset buttons are not functioning properly
Verify the headset being used is compatible with the iPhone.
Verify there is no debris in the headset jack.
Insert the stereo headset and play audio using the Music app. Verify both left and right channels are functioning.
Press the center button to see if it can pause and resume audio.
Make a phone call and see if the microphone is working.
If the issue persists, try another headset.
If the issue persists with another headset, have the iPhone serviced.

Yes, I know that they're functions reserved at the iPhone 3GS
but why? Both have a microphone and a camera, the only difference that the 3GS has a faster processor.... so, does someone know why there is this difference?

'If', maybe, but the fact is that the 3G is not capable ever of offering (due to hardware limitations) the same features as the 3GS, so surely such speculation is pointless and it is only wishful-thinking from those who are either:
1) not prepared to pay for the hardware that will support the facilities they wish were on their 3G, or
2) not prepared to wait for their contracts to allow them free phone upgrades to what will then be one generation beyond the 3GS, allowing the 3GS owners to complain about why their 3GS iPhones can't support the facilities of the next generation iPhones?!
My Mum told me "I 'want' cannot always 'have'....", so if I 'want' then I'll pay and if I can't pay then I'll not moan about not being able to 'have', just work harder or stay quiet until I CAN 'have'.

The Home button is slow to respond
If the Home button is slow to respond when exiting one application, try another application.
If the issue exists only in certain applications, try removing and reinstalling those applications. Get further assistance in installing and troubleshooting applications.
If the issue continues, Try turning iPhone off and then on again. If the iPhone will not restart, try resetting it.
If the issue is still happening, try to restore the iPhone.
