Voice control does not kick in place of SIRI when there is no internet connection

i have an iPhone 4s. i mainly use WIFI at both home and work. and am quite happy with SIRI. but when i leave home for work or am on my way back home after work quite often i press and hold the volume button to give voice command to call my wife. but SIRI does not work!
well, because SIRI needs internet connection and i dont bother using mobile internet (cause then i will need to turn on 3G which drains my battery like nothing on earth) it can not work.
but why does not my ordinary voice control kick in? since 4S is such a great gadget and is so smart in every way (apart from the pictures taken with the volume button could not be turned to adjust orientation in windows!) i was expecting this would be a normal thing to expect from it.
anyways, hope someday they would fix this.

I'm assuming you can either use Siri or Voice Control, but not both. I think if you turn Siri on the activation used to use Siri is removed from Voice Control and vice versa. This is just my own theory. Maybe a future software update might allow this.

This has been happening since IOS7 was installed and has become worse with 7.1. I have reset the phone several times with no change.The phone charges properly & I have never used anything but an Apple Lightning cable.

I already cleaned the port with compressed air before submitting the problem. I since cleaned it with a toothpick and dug out some more lint. this seems to have just about fixed the problem since I have only had the error pop up 3 times since then and i was getting the error constantly before.

IPhone 3Gs Voice Control does not work

Purchased IPhone 3Gs 32g beside having no service were I live (AT&T is building a cell tower about a mile from my house) my Voice control only works about 1% of the time. For the Ipod I usually get some kind of error message “like listing not found” when it does find an album or artist it always the same one. I am sick of hearing Santana. For call when I do get a signal I also usually get an error message or if it works it pick on of my doctors and that’s it.
Went to the Genesis bar and they said it was a software problem, they gave me a new IPhone with my old sims card, but the did not test the new IPhone Voice control in the store because there were on contacts or albums in the memory.
Got home synced the new one and guess what same exact problem. I have read and tried everything on the internet and nothing has worked any ideas or suggestions ? Please help I tired of listing to Santana and calling Dr. Aronald.

There's a few things you can try that might help out.
No. 1 Make sure your genius results are updated. If you're saying "Play music like Snoop Dogg" it's going to try to make a genius playlist, and that might be why you have no results found.
No. 2 Speak slower. This might sound kinda dumb, I'm not trying to be a smartass. I found that my voice command worked 200% better when I spoke just a little bit slower. Not sure why exactly, but the difference was night and day.
No. 3 When calling someone (on purpose of course) it helps to sometimes add "mobile" at the end if the number is listed as mobile in your contact book. Usually you only need to do this if the contact has more then one number, but it helps even if they don't just to eliminate any ambiguity from the voice command.

IPhone 3GS with iOS4 - voice control does not work any more

Hi - I updated the OS of my iPhone 3GS to iOS4 and everything went well. But ever since I did the update the voice control comes back with strange results when I try to use it. It was working well enough with OS3. Has anybody the same problems and is there a solution?

I'm experiencing basically the same as teardrop3d. I'm Australian (with voice settings on English (Australian)) and my 3Gs had at least 90% accuracy with both calls and music requests.
On iOS4 I've had a single correct result out of at least 30 attempts at using it.
Requesting "play playlist <name>" will often either start calling a seemingly random person from my phone book (different each time anyway) or sometimes a seemingly random number (I don't know where the number comes from, it's not in my phone book). Sometimes it'll actually offer to play music, usually a specific artist (not a playlist) and occasionally a playlist (but so far never the right one).
Requesting "call <name> <number type>" has worked once correctly, but usually just tries to call a seemingly random number from my phone book (or a number I don't know, not in my phonebook...).
As teardrop3d notes, the voice control screen stays up for about 2-4 seconds after I finish talking. It doesn't seem to be recording during this time, as the waveform stops responding to my voice but the screen sits there (with words moving past in the background still) as if its waiting for me to keep talking.
I've tried talking in different accents to no avail, and didn't get any better results with a different English language setting on the Voice Control (I'm not sure if that's actually listening for different accents or just responding in a different accent?)
This feature which I used to use multiple times a day to avoid having to take my phone out of my pocket while walking/riding is now useless. I continue to test it each day to see if it ever works, or if there are any behaviours that change it (e.g. locked vs unlocked or with music playing/not playing when I press/hold the mic-button, etc) but so far haven't found any workarounds.

I found some bugs in voice control in the iphone 4. Here are the bugs I found:
*When you tell voice control to call someone, it calls someone in your contacts instead of the person you want to call
*Sometimes, when you tell voice control to dial a number, it sometimes gets the number wrong
*Sometimes when you try to call someone in your contacts, it says "No match found." and you have to call that person again hoping this wouldn't happen again
That's all I found for now but 1 question. Will you please tell apple these bugs so they will make an update fixing these bugs?

Except the first one, these are not Apple specific problems. Every voice recognition application has the same.
The first one is expected behaviour. iPhone only knows about contacts in your Address Book. There are other services that provide you with a broader call-by-name directory, but that's not an iPhone function. You can use iPhone to call those services.

IPhone 5 - Voice Recognition Does Not Work

The voice recognition does not work in any application. When you speak you see the waveform change following your speech. In Siri, it even recognizes when you stop speaking. In apps like Messages, the progress circle just goes around and around without stopping until you kill the app. In Siri, the progress circle goes around and around but after a while, Siri comes on and says she can not fulfill the request and to try later. I think I searched every possible setting.

Bug: Bookmarks do not show up on the browser when there is no connection

Pre is not showing bookmark icons when there is no internet connection.
I am currently on international roaming with no data connection, but am using the Pre over WiFi. The Pre turns off WiFi when not in use, and then reconnects as soon as i turn it on.
However, it takes a few seconds to reconnect to WiFi, and if I open the browser in the mean time, it just opens a blank window with no bookmarks. It has the address bar, but doesn't really work.
If I open the browser once it has connected to WiFi, everything works fine.

(You can't even edit full bookmarks list, either. I can understand, kinda, not displaying the icons as their only purpose it to launch a data connection to the site, which obviously you're not going to do when not connected to data. But IMO, you should still be able to organize your bookmarks, which doesn't look like you can do)

Voice Memo does not work on 3g

The voice memo does not work. If I scream in to the mic it finally shows movement on the readout. But, when you play it back all you get is static noise where I screamed. Other wise, any normal voice speck is totally silent.
Actually it works with the iPhone head phones but not the mic in the phone it's self.

Yes, the low level while recording doesn't result in a low or weak "memo". Sounds fine and mails to my email as well . . . But !
I had a phone-message waiting two months, a little song-fragment I called home to leave with the hope that Voice-Memo would eventually save it for me. And it sounded better once mailed that it even did playing out of my cheap little land-line speaker ( I guess mic-placement is everything ! )
But the recording was 2 min 50 seconds and trying to mail it to myself brought up the warning that it was "too big" !! Luckily, the first 27 seconds was unrelated and expendable . . . and being able to trim it did the trick.
*So what's the size limit on a mailable Memo Apple people ?*

Also, how odd is it that it was still "Sending" within the iPhone, yet already sitting in my iMac's email well before the "airplane whoosh" of sent mail sounded.

Reboot the machine holding Command and r keys down, you'll boot into Lion Recovery Partition
In there will be Disk Utility, use that to select your Lion OS X Partition and Repair Permissions.
After that is done reboot the machine and see if you can log in.
If not repeat the above steps to get into Lion Recovery, get online and reinstall Lion again, it will overwrite the installed version and hopefully after that it wil work.
Reboot and try again.
If not follow my steps to create a Snow Leopard Data Recovery drive, then option boot from it and grab a copy of your files off the machine.
Then reinstall all your programs onto the external drive like setting up a new machine, then use Disk Utility to erase the entire internal boot drive (select the drive media on the far left, not the partiton slightly indented) format Option: GUID , 1 partition OS X Extended and then use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the external to the newly formatted internal drive. Once that is finished reboot and disconnect the external drive.
Once you go that, boot into Snow Leopard and update to 10.6.8, use the AppStore and option click on Purchases and download Lion again and install.
Lots of work, but there is no Lion disks.

Use two taps wherever you would use one tap. Navigate to Settings/General/Accessibility and turn it off.

After Export to excel response handler, control does not restore

I am downloading an excel file from a bsp page using the following code. However, after the download the control does not come back to the page from where the download was done. l_xml_xstring variable has the data in xstring format.

alternate approach.
for your case you dont have to generate cached response.
create a bsp page and set its MIME type to application/vnd.ms-excel (in the properties tab of the page)
within the layout , just have a simple html table with data.
now call this page, you will automatically get the save / open option.

"Mission Control" does not show space row and I cannot add a new space (27 inch screen)

Firstly, "Mission Control" does not show upper row with spaces. I have configured Dashboard as space, but it is not showed either.
Second, I cannot add a new space because the upper right corner wont show an empty space.
In system I have configured (Mission Control) the upper right corner as "mission control".
I do run a 27-inch screen

I'm having the exact same problem. I have a Macbook Pro that I connect to a 27inch iMac through the mini display port. Whenever I attempt to launch Mission control to move a program to a different space, the "Spaces" dont appear at the top of the screen. Is anyone have an answer for this?
Also, does anyone know of a 3rd party program to bring "Spaces" back? That was my #1 favorite thing of Snow Leopard, and I need to get that functionality back.

Help...people picker control does not recognize outlook formated bulk users

Hello,
Currently out of the box people picker control provides a textbox, User validity icon and a find user book. If there are bulk of users from outlook and paste it, the SharePoint control does not recognize user and cant find bulk
users in the find book directory all at once(need to find user details one at a time) , so I was told to hide the user directory icon and link. Will you please suggest me to on how to hide directory icon? is there a way using JavaScript or Jquery to hide?
Otherwise if there is a way to directly transfer bulk of users from outlook into SharePoint people control works great.
multiple users allowed in sharepoint people picker control however it does not support outlook format in SharePoint people picker.. such as

Nobody has anwered. I have solution and done myself to hide and manage controls on SharePoint list. Key thing here is to map the jquery library correctly and specific version.
Hope this helps at least others and can overcome difficulties I have undergone
