Voice control, iPod are posessed on my phone

I have had a 3gs since it came out. I have treated it perfectly, but in the last few days the music turns on and off by itself and the voice command screen as well appears and disappears. This often, but not always happens in connection with a call that it drops
even without being on the phone this thing spasses out possesed
nothing I can find in the settings to remedy any of this

Thanks

reset the phone by holding down the home button and sleep button at the same time until you see a silver apple on the screen, IGNORE the slide to turn off prompt.

Ford Voice Control & iPod playlist problems
I am having problems with the voice control system and my video ipod (5th gen) in a new Ford Focus Coupè-Convertible which also has Bluetooth phone conectivity ( works great with my iPhone 3G) as well as USB & Voice Control
This is all done through a Sony audio unit (model Sony 6CD DAB) which has a Six disc CD changer built in, as well as the usual FM & AM Radio bands as well as DAB Radio.
My problem relates to the voice control of my ipod and playlists.
Now some commands work just great For example if I say the following sequence ( which the unit repeats back to me at each stage) it works great:
    "External Device"
    "iPod"
    "Play"
All works well as it starts playing whatever playlist the iPod was in prior to connection to the unit, or if no playlist had been selected it just plays the whole contents of the iPod. - It also works fine with the commands "Shuffle" or "Repeat".
But according to the user manual I am supposed to be able to play or select a specific playlist by voice command using the following syntax as quoted from the manual:
'...create playlists named with the structure "Ford<*>" where <*> is a number 1-10. For example "Ford7" without any spaces between "Ford" and the number.
So I made several playlist called
    Ford1
    Ford2
    Ford3
and so on up to Ford10.
Now according to the voice commands list I should say the following phrases which like before, are repeated back to me by the system:
    "External Device"
    "iPod"
    "Playlist"
    Then the unit responds with
    "Playlist Number Please"
Then according to the manual I should say the following:
    But when I say either
    'Ford1'
    Or
    '1'
Or any right up to 'Ford10' / '10'
It responds bystating that playlist number (X) not available.
I have also tried with the quotation marks ("") around the name eg "Ford1", but that has not worked either.
So I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem and knew a solution, or could tell me where I am going wrong.
Although my car is a UK model, I believe that this voice control system is available with Sony units in American cars as well.
Hope you can help as this is driving me nuts!
    Thanks

    Hi Drusus.
I also have a European Ford (Focus ST - 2009) with the same problem.
Have you found any solution to the problem, or know if its possible to contact Ford...?
    Cheers.

  • I can still use voice control to call on my locked phone - how do i disable this

I have a new iphone 5, if I push and hold the home key I can email, call, message or ask a question to siri and use the phone even though it's 'locked'. I went into password lock and switched siri off so this no longer happens - but that's not the case. Siri won't work but voice control does and I can still call round the world or email, text etc... help. This means my phone is never safe.

How long of a delay do you have for Require Passcode lock? Did you wait that long before attempting to use Siri from the lock screen?
I have a 4s and turning off Allow Access When Locked for Siri and then waiting the 5 minutes for my passcode to be required and it worked. Maybe the iPhone 5 is different?

  • Voice control signaling traffic from a Cisco phone

Silly question I guess but here it goes. What is the purpose for having the RTP and control signaling traffic marked with different markings and then placing the traffic into different queues? What not treat all traffic coming from the phone the same? Help me understand the reason I would place the different traffic types into the separate queues. Thank you for your help in advance. P.S. is there any document that explains why this is done?

Well , the RTP(Voice) traffic is much, much more susceptible to jitter and other hiccups that are a minor concern to data protocols. The Idea in j=using seperate queues is to allow the RTP traffic alone to get the pq - this allows the queue to flow smoothly with consistant packet sizes and a constant data stream. The signaling traffic is kept seperate because it really does not need to be in the pq and if it were there it would cause inconsistancies in the types and sizes of packets going through the queue.

Basically just trying to avoid anything that might cause congestion for the RTP stream
    Hope this helps

  • How could they not let top-end Bluetooth Headsets activate Voice Control

I love Voice Control. It was an important feature missing from the 3G. Also was a video function. They addressed both with the 3GS. But then what do they do, forget to let Voice Control be accessed by a Bluetooth Headset.
Don't get my wrong, probably not all Bluetooth Headsets can support picking up a Voice Control function from a random cell phone. But I have a $140 Headseat, the Motorola Pure H15. This is the Nissan GTR of Bluetooth Headsets. Trust me, if there's a function that a headset can possess, this one has it and more.
So after pairing with the 3GS, why can't it gain access to the Voice Control? Hold the H15 button and the 3GS redials the last number dialed, which is a universal language between headset and cell phone. So I know that works, but push the button and the H15 attempts to connect and shows this by expressing several different tones: an access tone, then a deactivated tone. It's a weird combination of tones when pressing the button, it's trying but not getting through.
I hope Apple can fix this by way of software and avoid a hardware revision. Please please! I hope it's a quick fix and that Apple has this missing function on their priority list of future updates.

fear not... the people out there testing 3.1 mention that voice control works via Bluetooth on 3.1 so just give it a couple months and the feature will be there

  • Voice Control randomly turns on

I have a problem that is driving me crazy. I purchased a 32gb iPhone 3GS about 3 months ago and I have had an issue with the voice control since the day I brought it home. I have an auxiliary audio jack in my car so I always connect my iPhone to my car stereo to play music. For some reason whenever my iPhone is connected in this way the voice control constantly comes on.
I understand that holding down the home button on the face of the phone is what is "supposed" to bring up the voice control option but that is not the case in this instance. Rather I will be listening to music, or simply pick the phone up while connected so I can change the song (but before I have actually touched any part of the phone) and the voice control will come on - stopping the song and forcing me to hit "cancel" in order to get back to the music. This is incredibly frustrating because it's happening while I drive and what makes it worse is the fact that since the phone is on voice control, and connected to my stereo, whenever I move it the sharp crackling from sound going through the microphone is broadcast through my car's speakers.
I have read through a few threads and there doesn't seem to be any way to deactivate voice control - but I could be wrong. Does anyone have any idea how to permanently shut off voice control? Has anyone else had this same problem? I can't figure out why this would be happening or what I can do to prevent it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'm having the same problem except it happens when I'm trying to use voice dialling. I speak into my bluetooth headset to dial a number and it starts up my music or other things. I did find something on youtube on how you can disable voice control altogether by downloading some program but haven't tried it because I don't know if it will disable all voice control including voice dialling or just voice control for the rest of the phone. Here's a link to what I found on youtube...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE46y1bUpfQ
If anyone tries this could you please post to let me know if it disables voice dialling. Thanks.

  • Voice Control turning on by itself on ipod touch 4.

I have owned an ipod touch 4g for less than twelve hours and I am less than impressed with it.
My main complaint is that the Voice Control function keeps popping up - even when the ipod is sitting untouched on the desk.
I'm not touching the home button, having earphones plugged in or not makes no difference, I've tried restoring. Other functions, like the video function, cannot be used because the voice control screen keeps popping up at random times and cutting it off.
Can this be fixed? Remembering I'm not a iPod hacker....
    Whats going on?

Check Settings > General > Accessibilty > are they all off except Phone Noise Cancellation?
    Do a reset
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

  • IPod touch suddenly fast forwarding through songs and videos + voice control screen cutting in

    Hi
In the last couple of days, it has started fast forwarding through songs and videos randomly. The voice control screen is also cutting in randomly. It happens as soon as I turn it on and play my first track or video. The only other problem I have noticed is that the volume controls on my headphones are no longer working. The headphones would be less than 6 months old and are genuine Apple ones. I don't think the problem is related because if I unplug them the fast forwarding still happens. I've tried powering it off and then re-starting it and I have been keeping the software up to date on it so I'm not sure what else I can try.
In saying that, this morning it seems to be working properly but I'm worried the problem will return. I still can't adjust the volume via the headphones though.
If anyone has any ideas about what I can do to resolve the fast forwarding problem, I would appreciate the feedback. The headphones I don't really care about because I can replace them.
I've had my iPod touch for a few years and use it pretty heavily so part of me is wondering whether it is just getting to the end of its life. I'm not sure what sort of lifespan I can expect from my iPod touch.
    Thanks

    Try:
    - Try a regular pair of headphones
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • HT3597 how do you deactivate voice control so when the phone is in your pocket, you can play music without it stopping all the time??

how do you play songs uninterupted when the phone is in your pocket?

Tap Settings, tap General, tap Passcode Lock, tap Turn Passcode On. When that is enabled, below there is an option to toggle Voice Dial on or off (note: Music Voice Control is always enabled). Unfortunately, if you do not want Passcode Lock on, you cannot disable this feature.

  • How do I turn off voice control for ipod features?

    HI,
I'm having an issue with my iphone 4, when using with a 3rd party set of earbud headphones that include an inline microphone, wind and ambient noise cause the voice control to go haywaire.  I've found the option to turn off voice dialing for the phone, but can't find a way to shut this off in iPod mode. Help?  Please?  It's driving me crazy...

I have the same problem with my ipod touch 4th generation.  It only started a few days ago after I finally updated it ios 6.1.6; I never knew Voice Control existed on my ipod before then.
It has not happened when I had headphones plugged in, only when it was sitting by itself on a table and I wasn't touching it.
The first time it happened, it was sitting on my night table at 4am while I was sleeping.  The second time it happened, it was sitting on my desk at work while I was quietly typing; I had to apologize to my coworkers while I tried to figure out how to make it stop.  Just now it happened again, sitting on my kitchen counter while I was on the other side of the room.  It has happened about four more times while I was sitting here at the computer researching the problem.  I even checked to make sure the case (Otterbox) wasn't pressing on the Home button, and it's not.
I HATE IT!!!!!!  It makes me so angry!  If I can't figure out a way to make it stop, I'm going to have to stop using it altogether.  Is that what you want, Apple?  And no, I won't upgrade and buy a newer model; I'll get an Android version.

  • Possible fix to iPod voice control flakiness

If your 3GS iPod Voice Control is always matching whatever you say to the same incorrect artists or albums (probably the first few in the alphabet, and just the albums by them.) or is giving you "No Match Found" for everything, do this:
On the computer you sync your iPhone with:
    - Close iTunes
    - find the folder containing your iTunes library file.
    - Move or delete the *iTunes Library Extras* (.itdb) file, +not your actual library+
    - launch iTunes
    - go to Store -> Update Genius. (or turn Genius on if it's off.)
    - Wait until it's done (will take a while if you have a large library) and then sync your iPhone.
    - After syncing, power the phone off and on again.

Same here. Voice control works fine for requesting it to call people and dial numbers. It used to work fine for the ipod but one day just stopped. I went to my apple centre and they suggested it's a software issue (which would make sense) and to wait for the 3.1 release and hope this fixes it. If not go back in to see them. So here's hoping. Roll on September.

  • IPod Touch Voice Control?

Does the iPod Touch OS 3.0 support voice control (an app that comes with iPhone OS 3.0)?

Yes, but you need to buy a compatible headphones, such as the "Apple Headphones" in the Apple Store. They are $30, but also come with a built-in controller. I bought them, and love them, but unfortunately they are lost in the blackhole known as my room.
EDIT: Oh happy day, oh happy day! I just found my headphones behind my giant shelf! Hooray!

  • Why does voice control keep coming on when i use my ipod

When I'm using my ipod (on the iphone 3 GS), the music will play and then all of a sudden the voice control comes on and interupts the song. I can't get it it stop. I'll click to cancel but then a few seconds later it comes on again and again.  I'm using the headphones that came with the phone (white ones). Sometimes I put the phone in a case and strap it to my arm. Other times the phone will just be sitting on the excercise machine but the voice control keeps coming on even though the button isn't being pressed. Any ideas what to do??
    Thanks!

This same thing is happening to my iPod Touch. Every 2 seconds, Voice control comes on, I am wondering if my iPod is Broken?
    Please Help.
