Voice mail from PSTN
Hello,
I have unity connection 8.6 .2 and our corporate users need to access their voice mail when they are not in the office (from PSTN) so how i can achieve that.
I know only 2 steps please correct me if the below 2 steps are wrong and complete the rest of the steps
I will create a hunt pilot DN (DID) with unity connection answering ports.
call will reach to unity connection by direct routing rule configured for dialed in number (DID )
thanks
Dear's
you"ll are experts i may not understanding what actually you'll are trying to explain.Please bare with me to get success.
I will write in bullets my understanding please correct and also
when a pstn user dial a number 23232980
VG (MGCP) receives the calls and the call is send to CUCM to DN 980
In my case 980 is Hunt pilot the call will hit to Unity connection
By creating forwarding rule " sends call to" conversation sign in with equal operator & dialled in 980 routing rule conditions.
user will be prompted for the username and password.
Please write in Bullets for the below comment.
And, as Terry mentioned, you need to add appropriate translations to convert your DID to the Hunt Pilot number.
I didn't understood below paragraph.
An alternate option is to add 'Alternate extensions' for the user. In this case, apart from adding the alternate extensions, you do not have to do any other changes on Unity Connection. Callers can still dial the existing hunt pilot to reach unity connection. no need to create a new hunt pilot. just ensure you have appropriate translation patterns to convert your DID to the existing hunt pilot number.
Thanks

Hi All,
We have a UC520 and the system is giving us an engaged tone when ever we dial voice mail from both our external and internal numbers. I have been going over and over the config and can not understand why we are getting an engaged signal when ever we ring voice mail. Below is the show run off the UC520, hopefully someone can spot some errors in it to suggest why it does not work as im close to hitting it with a large hammer

Cisco Unity 7: Voice mail cann't get the name or Number phone of the caller
Hi,
I have installed Cisco Unity Messaging Unified version 7 and integrated with Exchange 2010.
I have two scenario, and I want to know if are normal or not:
1. If the 2 IP phones are subscribed with Cisco Unity: the first IP phone call the other IP phone and let a voice mail. When the second IP phone check his message vocal it can get the name of the caller or his number phone (the message is: You have One message from XXXX) and he get e-mail as objet: Voice Mail from XXXX.
2. If one IP phone is not subscriber with cisco unity call other Ip phone subscribed with cisco unity and let him a voice mail. The second IP phone when check his message vocal it can’t get the name of the caller or his number phone: The message is: You have one voice mail xxxx; without indicate from!! and he get a e-mail as object: Voice mail from Unknown.
Please, I want to know if the second scenario is normal ? if not, who to resolve this problem? I want that he indicate the number of caller same he isn't subscriber with cisco unity?
Thanks a lot,
Best regards,
Omar YUNSISo for the 2nd scenerio you would want to check what your Message Subjects were set to. For Unity 7 open Web SA, click Configuration and then Message Subjects. Make sure that the Outside Caller Message has %CALLERID% in it somewhere. The value %CALLERNAME% will return unknown if we do not receive a name from the PSTN.
Try setting the Outside Caller Message to:
%U% %P% Voice Message from %CALLERID%
and that should get you your desired results.
The default Message subject is:
%U% %P% Voice Message from %CALLERNAME% (%CALLERID%). So with that it would say Voice Message fom Unknown (xxxx) if it was not able to determine the name of the user which is usually normal from a PSTN call.
Just to note, the From address is always going to say from Unity Messaging System, it will only be the subject that has the extension in it.

Hello,
i have configured unity connection with exchange 2013 for single Inbox and internal corporate voice mail are been received in Exchnage Inbox and phones.
I have entered a smart host ip of exchange in unity connection,when i try to send a voice mail from outlook (view mail) to my gmail or yahoo the exchange 2013 server return back the voice mail
I just want to confirm from experts is it the correct approach i am doing by sending it to Gmail or Yahoo
OR
Voice mail are only for Internal within the corporate.
ThanksHello,
The send connectors are configured on Exchange not Unity Connection. That is something that needs to be worked out with the MS team. You can google it and find plenty of resource.
Also make sure that you can forward voicemails to internal users. If not make sure you have Relay emails to unknown address to Yes under General Settings in Unity Connection. -
I want to turn off my voice mail
could someone give me a hint how to do this?
You can call Customer service and see if you can remove voice mail from your account.
You can also use conditional call forwarding to forward the call to another number, say your home phone, that does not have a voice mail system set up. -
Can I transfer voice mail to a new device?
Can I transfer voice mail to a new device? My father recently passed away and I don't want to lose them.
To your PC is probably a good way to do it. And you can get the male/male cords anywhere.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Link-Depot-AUDIO-6-35MM-Link-Depot-3.5mm-Male-to-Male- Audio-Cable-6/15779608
one from walmart just as an example. The reason I say not to trust your device or the phone service, a friend of mine had voice mails from his mother, who passed on, he thought they were out there, that he'd saved them, but the phone company deleted them after a while. I can only presume their thought is 'this mail is X months old, surely they don't need it' and it gets purged. They have no idea how important it is. Getting them somewhere else gives you the control over them
To your PC you should be able to plug into the phone earphone jack, then your PC's mic input jack, hit record on your PC, play on your phone and it should record. -
I have deleted voice mails yet usage remains 100%. Any ideas?

Is there a way to download or save a voice mail from my phone to my computor
I presume, even though "it's not a feature" of the iPhone, there is another way to do it, beyond the iPhone. Does anyone know of the way(s) to do that?

Problem with answering machines and PSTN voice mails
Hi,
We are experiencing issues when we place a call to the PSTN and it is redirected to a answering machine, for example if I place a call to my cell phone and it is powered off normally it will be answered by the voice mail of my celular company, but in this case whe have two strange behaviors:
1.- the call keeps ringing like my cell phone were available.
2.- the call is connected but we are experiencing something like one way audio, we cannot hear audio from the voicemail, but checking my voice mail on my cell phone I realized that I am able to leave a message.
This two issues occours randomly and for both home answering machines and cell phones voicemails, with regular calls we have no problems.
we have:
CUCM 9.1
GW 3900 - 15.1 (4) M7
The GW is connected with the CUCM via SIP, and with the PSTN with E1 R2.
Here is part of the configuration that I think could be relevant:

How do I create MP3 files on my new iphone from old tmobil voice mail msgs?
Hello! >>> iPhone master techies......... help~!~ I'm an "X" TMobil customer who recently switched to ATT and purchased an iPhone 3G. I forwarded 20 voice mail messages from my old TMobil phone to my husbands TMobil phone before having it disconnected and switching the sim card over, as salesman I bought phone from at ATT store said I'd lose them all if I didn't do this. They're ''THAT'' important to me to save, my grandbaby's messages, too dear to ever lose.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Question: I was told by a manager at an APPLE store "to turn the voice mail messages now on husbands tmobil phone into mp3 files", which could then be downloaded to my iphone [as sound bites??]. Does anyone know how this is done and if so, can you PLEASE tell me how to do this? If you need more of what the manager at Apple said to me, I'll continue with that, just ask.it's an iPhone specific question to me > regarding _my new_ iPhone.
sorry if this wasn't the right place to put the inquiry but for a new person trying to figure this phone out, it's pretty confusing. I'd invite anyone to try to get info [from any number of sources] with any luck or help.
having said all that, I thank you for this post, if nothing else, I can call them and see how much to have them do it. doesn't seem an unusual request should be pretty straight forward and easy to do if you're in the know, I am not. -
I've been having this problem for about 6-months:
I get a call that I can't take from someone important, so I let it go to voice mail. Then I check the phone often because I need to get the message; and there is no message. So I check my phone for cellular/internet connectivity and everything works fine. The message will finally come in after a half-hour and sometimes 3-4 hours later! I even restart the phone just to make sure.
Advice?I Also have this problem!!
In my situation, the screen simply started exhibiting the same symptoms a few weeks ago (early February) for no apparent reason. At first I thought the screen was dead, but discovered the heat solution by accident. Now I turn it on and keep it from going to sleep until I go to bed. Thank goodness the battery is still awesome on this thing.
I bought it new and still has the original screen, I keep it at home (never below 62 degrees). Coincidentally, this happened a day or two after the expiration of the warranty!! Any help figuring this one out would be eternally appreciated.
How do I record a voice mail message from our iphone onto my MacBook Pro?
My wife has a few voice mail messages on her iphone from her brother(who passed away). She would like to save these in a safe place where she can listen in the future. Recording these messages on an MP3 player as other have suggested, doesn't give us that permanence, security, easy accessability we are looking for.
I had exported an address book backup: abbu
so since i wrote, i have found my way into the cloud: selected all entries - deleted them all from the cloud.
This wiped out contacts on my iphone and i pad, and MBP, as well as on the cloud. I then imported the abbu back into my now empty address book.
To repopulate the crowd, i selected all in my address book and created a single card vCard for export to my desktop. I then dragged that vcard into my empty cloud. Now my cloud has the same clean contacts as my MBP addressbook. The cloud then pushed the clean contacts into my empty ipad and iphone contacts.
I had to go back to Address Book>preferences>Accounts and Add an I cloud account - but if you accidentally create a second i cloud account - all of a sudden your address book will duplicate itself. I quickly reversed it by deleting one of the icloud accounts in my Address Book>preferences>Accounts.
I created a new entry on my MBP and it is now on all devices and in cloud
I also created a new entry on my iPhone and it is now in the address book on my MBP.
I feel empowered!!
Have i missed anything??
