Voice memo volume very low, it played normally then today very low even with volume set full blast.

I played my voice memos yesterday and the volume was fine.  Today I can bearly hear them.  I have the volume set to the highest with the buttons on the side.  Any thoughts?

I'd like you to take a look a the follow support article, specifically starting at step 5:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.

    One thing can help is the following.  Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.  Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.  Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.  Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows and see if this has helped at all.

    Found this solution in another thread, what you want to do is go into the Nike Fitness thing, go to run, go to Spoken Feedback and set it to off. This should fix your problems.

    As others have stated, I lost ALL my voice memos after upgrading my iPhone 5c (don't judge) to iOS 8. Simple enough, restore right? Wrong. Restored the iCloud backup from a few days ago, pre iOS 8 update. "Got" the data back, at least everything looked right....except the OS is still iOS 8, not 7 (fine), but when I open Voice Memos I now SEE my recordings, but they are all greyed out and I can't play them or send them to myself to save them. I'm a songwriter and I have valuable demo material here I really don't want to lose. Any help appreciated!!

    Well, nevermind! I guess the restore just hadn't finished because now all is back to normal!

    I have recently upgraded to a EE harrier and a Harrier mini for my wife.On both phones the ringtones are very quiet even with the volume settings set on maximum.This is causing us to miss calls and messages as the ringtones are just too quiet.Ive tried ringtone booster apps but have yet to find one that works.Any suggestions ?

    It might sound daft but have you tried a few of the different ringtones to see if any are louder?

    Oh, and I might have left it out in the sun (I don't know if that does anything) and it was acting funny before that but then got worse affter I left it out in the sun.

    Everyone you are way over thinking this as did i at first. My wife had the same issue. there is i switch right above the volume button as demonstrated  on this link. its designed for lets say you into a class or meeting you can switch the phone to silent quck and easy.

    I just got my iphone 3GS 16GB last week. I noticed this right away. I can't hear my voicemail. Even when the volume is turned ALL the way up and on Speaker, I can barely hear the messages.
    What's up with this? Should I return it for repair/another??

    Are you sure the speaker is on and not off...
    toggle between the two just to make sure...
    If it's truly defective only an Apple Genius apt will help...
    Before that though...since they will ask...you will want to perform a full restore using " set up as new iPhone"
    just to make sure it's not OS related

  • Can no longer play certain voice memos

    I have two voice memos that will no longer play. One is from dec '09 and the other is from nov '09. They both have the duration of the memos, but when I press the play button, it does nothing but stop. I tried to sync all of my memos on itunes, but it won't sync the two memos that won't play. I tried to email the memos, but it won't let me do that either. It's as if they aren't even there, but they are. How do I play my voice memos that won't let me play them?

    Can you record and play new VMs?
    Can you sync them to your computer?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost       
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings      
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • How to get my 8bit voice memos (iOS 6.1.4)to play in iTunes on my iPhone 5?

    I synced some songs I made in voice memo to itunes on my macbook.  then i tried to sync them to itunes on my iphone 5 iOS 6.1.4 and it says that it can't sync cause its 8-bit.  Is there a good converter that anyone has used before?

    iDevices are not backup devices, never have been.
    If there is no backup, there is a good chance that data will be lost.
    iTunes purchases can be transfered from the device.
    Connect the device, stop the sync if it starts.
    Select File > Transfer purchases.  This will only transfer purchases made via the iTunes store.
    Once complete, right click on the device and choose Backup... this should change the library association.
    There are 3rd party applications that can extract media not purchased via iTunes and pictures previously synced from the old computer, search google or these forums and you'll find them.
    Whatever happens, once the media is recovered, make a backup!!!!

  • Poss. bug in Voice Memos tool -- how do you report to Apple?

    Hello all,
    I suspect that I have found a bug in the Voice Memos tool that comes with iPhone. Does anyone know how to report this to Apple? I'm not a developer, so I can't go through the Apple Developer Connection, and the www.cqf.apple.com URL that they want non-developers to use doesn't work.
    The problem seems to occur when I have been recording a long, one-hour lecture, and accidentally tap the pause button instead of stop. If I then tap the record button to get the stop button to display again and then tap the stop button as soon as it redisplays, the resulting file does not work. I'm unable to sync it down to my computer, and it won't play back in Voice Memos, even though it shows the recording length (hour, minutes, seconds) for the listed file. If I tap play in Voice Memos, it simply doesn't play; the playback bar shows it as being zero minutes. I'm also unable to trim the recording.
    This has happened twice in the past ten days since I started using the tool, and I suspect that the actions of tapping pause, then play, then stop is occurring too quickly, even though these buttons are available. Perhaps with a large file like this (one-hour recordings are about 10 MB), one needs to allow the tool to get the file back into "record" mode after tapping play, but before tapping stop. Unfortunately, with the stop button available right away, it's very easy to tap it before the tool may be ready for you to stop the recording. I hope this makes sense.
    I'd like Apple to look into this and perhaps consider making the stop button unavailable until the file is truly ready to be stopped. Does anyone know how to report this to them? They seem to make it so difficult.... Of course, if anyone has any thoughts on this or has had the problem too (surely I'm not crazy?), I appreciate knowing more, although I doubt there's anything I can do to fix the problem, except to avoid tapping the pause button in the first place, and if I do, go slowly and allow the tool to actually continue recording before tapping stop.

  • Voice memos are never erased from the phone?

    I use voice memos frequently, and I think I understand the basics of managing them with iTunes. What I've noticed is that the Voice Memos list that appears in iTunes, under Devices / ~ iPhone includes hundreds of memos that go back two years or more. These memos have been deleted in iTunes, and some of them have been deleted on the phone, in the Voice Memos app itself. After syncing they do not appear in the Mac, but they're still in the phone! They persist in the Voice Memos list... They're in grey (because they're in the phone) so I can't delete them in iTunes. But I can play them - they exist within the phone. On the phone itself I can't find them, view them or play them.
    How to I delete these old outdated files?

    As posted elsewhere, one solution to this bug is iFunBox, a free app that allows access to the iPhone's file structure. The voice memos are there to be copied (if you want to back 'em up elsewhere) and deleted.  A couple of clicks and the job's done. Freed up memory on my phone and got rid of years' worth of useless recordings.

    By default, if Voice Memos is playing a recording and I press the Home button to get to another app, playback immediately ceases.

  • Voice memos aren't seen by computer, can't sync

    I am trying to sync voice memos from my iphone (ios8) to itunes (12.something) on my mac.
    The voice memos are on the phone.
    iTunes doesn't show them.
    Thus, 2 questions about syncing - 1 (obviously) - how can I get itunes to recognize that they're there.
    And 2 - how do I sync them MANUALLY? I see lots of suggestions to sync music clicking voice memos but I can't do that when I want to deal with my data manually. If I turn off manually then I get a scary message something like "we're going to completely empty out your phone, do you really want to do this?".
    Unfortunately, I'm trying to keep things simple and under my control, which Apple no longer seems to allow with each upgrade....

    I have looked everywhere.  Everyone is having this problem.  And Apple has not taken the time to explain what is going on with Voice Memos, to help us.  I usually don't complain but I have been trying for weeks to figure out how to access my Voice Memos on my Mac, which has caused me to lose much valuable time, and I feel I am at least somewhat intelligent and can usually figure any problem out, with enough time and investigation.  Apple should help its users understand what to do with larger files, and WARN us not to record long, important files when they freeze up as they seem to often do.  Also to explain what is going on when the files WILL NOT sync to iTunes- or rather, can't be SEEN in iTunes, and if they don't want us to see them, or organize them, to explain WHY.  If Apple wants the Voice Memo app to ONLY be used for very short recordings that can be e-mailed or messaged out, they should make this clearer by setting a LIMIT on the actual recording time, having it stop automatically, etc.  And the Memos "seem" to be backed up on either iTunes or iCloud because I lost my iPhone, purchased a new one and all my former Voice Memos were synced back onto the new phone, but I still can't see them in iTunes.  I am so frustrated with Apple, and, not that it matters, but I have been a dedicated Apple user (including a member of Mobile Me AND .Mac), all the way back to OS 6 and I still have the "floppies" to prove it.

    I was using itunes 9.1 or smth, and when i first connected my iphone, after recording memo ( to my new laptop ) it wrote a new voice memo is detected or something do you want to copy it, i pressed yes, and it copied the voice memo, i listened to it and then i deleted it, because i thought that the sound quality was better listening on iphone through the headphones then on laptop, but now i need to mail, that voice memo to my friend. That lecture is an hour long so i can't mail through iphone or mms, and when i connect my iphone to itunes the lecture does not appear as new and it doesn't offer to copy it to pc. So is there anyway to get the voice memo to my pc. ( i tried deleting itunes and reinstalling, because i thought, that maybe the reinstalled itunes would detect the voice memo as new, but it didn;t ( **** you apple with your leftovers ... )
    Anyway, i really need help with this, hope apple technical staff will be able to answer it, though i doubt they will ...
    Anyway, any help is appreciated, thank you in advance guys.
    p.s. i can't sync my iphone with new laptop's itunes library because voice memo would be deleted then.

    You'll need to use third party software to extract the voice memo from your phone. You are correct in that since you deleted the memo from your itunes library, it will be deleted from your phone if you do sync:
