Voice memos and a first sync
I have voice memos on my phone, but it was replaced and had not been synced yet. It says it needs to erase and re-sync. If I do this, will it erase my voice memos, or will it sync them over to itunes?
If it will erase them, does anyone know of a way to get them off before erasing.

After spending 2.5 hours on the phone with Apple, the solution was to edit it, trim a second or 2 off one end, save it as new and the computer would recognize the new file. Great. Thanks. John

I have an iPhone 4 ISO 7and an iMac with Mavericks. During a sync with my phone there was a glitch and VM's did't get onto the computer. They are still on the phone. Is there a way of getting them onto the computer? Further attempts at sync were no solution. the computer will not read them it seems.

How do you sync voice memos and make CD's of them?
When you sync the phone with your computer voice memos are copied to your iTunes library with the Genre "Voice memo".
To burn to CD you do it the same way you would any music; create a playlist of the memo(s), the right click on the playlist and choose "burn to CD". -

I don't care if the iPhone syncs with the laptop (and the music is lost), I just cannot afford to lose the Voice Memos too as they are very important. Any suggestions?To follow this user tip using iTunes 11, fist go to View>Show Sidebar. Also, Transfer Purchases (step 5) is now in File>Devices.
If they're too large to email and you don't want to sync, the only other option is to use 3rd party software to transfer them using usb, such as PhoneView (Mac only) or Touch Copy (PC or Mac). -
Im now usin ipod touch, i dunt know why the old voice memo cannot be synced from ipod touch to itunes???
I hv trimmed the old voice memo by 2 seconds, bt it stills doesnt work, can anyone teach me how to take the memo out????
THZAre you follwoing the instructions for the Users Guide:
Sync voice memos with iTunes: Connect iPod touch to your computer and select iPod touch in the iTunes device list. Select Music at the top of the screen (between Apps and Movies), select Sync Music, select “Include voice memos,” and click Apply.
The voice memos from iPod touch appear in the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes.

I recorded a long voice memo and can't listen to it or send it to my email. It keeps saying "preparing failed and "is being optimized for sharing at this time" help!!

It seems since I got my iPhone 5, my voice memos get duplicated every time it syncs with iTunes. There was only a few memos but a couple of them were rather large. I have found this out by looking at my iTunes backup and find them in /media/recordings. I have stopped them from duplicating by de-selecting them from iTunes, but now how can I delete these items from my phone to free up the space? The best way I could think of is somehow remove them from my backup, then restore. I use iCloud normally for backup so I am almost out of space.
I am using OS 10.8.2 with iTunes 11 and iOS 6.0.1Update: iExplorer does support deleting voice memos. Received helpful product support email detailing how, even before I registered the product.
while you can delete voice memos where the actual files are stored in Media/Recordings (which is where you should see those missing voice memos), iExplorer 3 isn’t designed to delete them from your device since deleting them iniExplorer 3 won’t update the voice memo database on the device
It's still quite slow and crashes if you try to delete the entire list (I do 10 at a time now), but it works to delete memos that are not refered to any more within the Voice Memos app.
Still doesn't solve the Apple iTunes problem of duplicating SW, which appears to still be happening on a small scale, but I am recovering the Other data back to Free slowly. -
How do I sync voice memos and notes?
I use windows and will never use a MAC as I hate them and only like apples Iphone. I have an Iphone 5 and use version 11.0.2.26 of itunes. I had an older Iphone 4g with lots of voice memos on it and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get itunes to sync the voice memos onto it and then put them onto my new phone. Voice Memos Disappear After iTunes Sync
Anyone else experiencing this? My wife had 6 lectures recorded today on the iPhone before we synced it tonight. All of them had been recorded today. When she returned home she showed me the files on the iPhone so I can verify they were there.
However, once the first sync tonight completed, the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes only contained 3 of the lectures. What is worse is the iPhone now only contains these 3 lectures as well. Searched through the iTunes library and these are the only Voice memos to be found.
I performed a Restore (3.0) and then restored from the backup that was performed during that last sync and only recovered a short test memo we recorded that day before.
I will be filing an iPhone Feedback report, but wanted to know if this has occurred with anyone else. Cheers!Jenny-did you ever get an answer to this?

How to get voice memo to computer, without sync u Iphone with pc library
okay, what i want to find is how ( and there better be a way, couse i am ****** ), how can i get my voice memo from iphone to computer. I have a very important lecture recorded, the issue is that now i am using a different laptop and my iphone is not sync with my new laptop's itunes library.
I was using itunes 9.1 or smth, and when i first connected my iphone, after recording memo ( to my new laptop ) it wrote a new voice memo is detected or something do you want to copy it, i pressed yes, and it copied the voice memo, i listened to it and then i deleted it, because i thought that the sound quality was better listening on iphone through the headphones then on laptop, but now i need to mail, that voice memo to my friend. That lecture is an hour long so i can't mail through iphone or mms, and when i connect my iphone to itunes the lecture does not appear as new and it doesn't offer to copy it to pc. So is there anyway to get the voice memo to my pc. ( i tried deleting itunes and reinstalling, because i thought, that maybe the reinstalled itunes would detect the voice memo as new, but it didn;t ( **** you apple with your leftovers ... )
Anyway, i really need help with this, hope apple technical staff will be able to answer it, though i doubt they will ...
Anyway, any help is appreciated, thank you in advance guys.
p.s. i can't sync my iphone with new laptop's itunes library because voice memo would be deleted then.

Message was edited by: KiprasYou'll need to use third party software to extract the voice memo from your phone. You are correct in that since you deleted the memo from your itunes library, it will be deleted from your phone if you do sync:

Voice memos lost in iTunes sync
I use voice memos on my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.2) to record my lectures for university. I synced my voice memos today to iTunes (11.1.1) and some, but not all, of the lectures were lost. Those which were lost had a similar title and were for the same class. Their titles in voice memos on the iPhone still exist, but their time of recording has been reduced from ~1:15:00 they were at to 0:00, as if I had never recored them at all. They were present before the wireless sync and are now absent. Some of the syncing went on without issue, but those for the same class did not. I am a disabled student and use these lectures for revision. Is there any way I can locate them?

Bug Voice Memo and Smart Play lists
Hi all,
I have an iPod Touch 3rd with firmware version 3.2.1 and ITunes 9.0.2
I´ve just found a weird bug related to smart play lists and Voice Memos.
If you create a smart play list with the rules 1 and 2 or rules 3 and 4 (described bellow) this list will not sync with your Ipod.
1-Media kind is not Music
2-Media kind is Voice Memo
or:
3-Media kind is not Voice Memo
4-Media kind is Music
For instance, If you create a smart play list with rules 3 and 4 (if you want to listen only to music) the smart play list will not sync with your Ipod.
It sounds to be an ITunes' bug...
Does anyone know a work around to this issue?

It sounds to be a bug in Itunes...
It is very annoying as you can't create a smart play list only with music (excluding Voice memos). For instance, every new voice memo included is automatically added into "Recently added" play list, and it is not possible to include a filter to exclude voice memos within it.

I need help with voice memo and volume control
I really dislike to update my iphone's software. I have Iphone 4S and I have been using voice memo to record lectures for sometime.
It was working well till updated my Iphone's software (IOS or whatever that is). Now I can't transfer my voice memo to my computer
and I have tried so many things people have suggested online which are 1. restart my mac book, 2. turn off and on my Iphone 3.
check voice memo when syncing my iphone with macbook. It is not working. Also, I totally messed my volume control. I went to
Genuis bar and the lady who helped told me that my Iphone has some issues before which is making my Iphone go nuts.

Voice memos do not consistently sync to itunes.
I have voice memos on my phone, dating back to 2010. In Itunes, I have "sync voice memos" checked, and it transfers songs randomly. I only have about a dozen memos on my computer, when there are about 100 on my phone. I've noticed that none of the memos that I have not renamed, and are labeled "unamed recording" never sync, but even the ones i do rename sometimes don't sync as well. Super frustrating.

No voice memos after iPhone 6 sync
I just backed up my iPhone 4 and set up my iPhone 6, and none of my voice memos are appearing on the iPhone 6. Any suggestions?
It will happen automatically. iTunes always syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer. All you can do is delete them or ignore them.
Keep in mind that if you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.
The "Include voice memos" button in the iTunes Music pane for your phone is only for syncing your voice memos playlist back to the phone.
