Voice memos don't sync on iTunes 10.5.3.

After updating my MacMini to iTunes 10.5.3, voice memos recorded on my iPod Touch 4G do not sync anymore. Anyone else having this problem?

Please disregard my question - I was confused by the voice memos not being listed as being on the device when the iPod is docked. But they are found and copied when I sync, and are listed as being on the device then as well.

  • My voice memos don't sync from my phone to iTunes

I Am having trouble syncing my voice memos from my iPhone to my PC. I have flagged the "sync voice memos" in the "sync music" module and that always used to allow my memo recording to come into iTunes on my PC.
Interestingly, when my iPhone is connected to my PC, iTunes doesn't even recognise that there are voice memos on the iPhone.
I Have reinstalled iTunes, and I have the latest update on my phone.
Any suggestions would help as I would really like to bring some lectures I heard and recorded into itunes

First of all what PC type do you have, then what IOS are you running and finally what  Itunes are you running.
Oh and if this helps, check it out how to upload voice memos from iphone to iMac.

  • Voice Memos won't sync to iTunes anymore

So for some reason when I sync my iPhone 3G, the voice memos won't sync to my iTunes library.
The "Sync voice memos" box is checked and older voice memos from April and before synced in the past.
Now there's just a Voice Memos folder under my iPhone Tab and the new voice memos won't appear in my iTunes Library at all.
I want to convert them to Mp3 but that option is grayed out under the iPhone Voice Memos folder.
Is this just a bug? I recently bought a new computer running Windows 7, so I'm wondering if this is a common issue with iTunes?
    Any suggestions?

Even though this topic is considered answered, my Voice Memos weren't syncing and the software update didn't fix it. So, I did this:
    1) I backed up and synced my ipod
    2) deleted the voice memos playlist in iTunes (my playlist was empty already)
    3) deselected "include voice memos" under the Music tab
    4) clicked "Apply"
    5) when sync was done, shut down iTunes
    6) disconnected and reconnected iPhone and restarted iTunes
    7) reselected "include voice memos" under the Music tab
    8) clicked "Apply"
A new Voice Memo playlist was created with my voice memos in iTunes.
It's possible you can skip the step of deleting the playlist. I was just trying everything I could think of to get it going again. Maybe you can skip the whole first half and just shut down iTunes and reconnect device and sync again! So try and let us all know.
I think what was happening - and why it will work for some to upgrade their software - was because I had an iPod Touch with 3.1 syncing memos to iTunes before. Maybe the iPhone with ios 4 couldn't sync to the folder already created?

  • Voice memos do not sync into itunes but ARE on iphone. How do I get them to sync into itunes?

You don't need to delete anything from your phone or you old computer.
Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer or backup to /Music/ on new computer.
If you cannot use the old computer or don't have a backup...
-> Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Then immediately make a backup of your new computer.
Get an external drive and plug it in and use -> Time Machine

  • One of my voice memos won't sync to iTunes

I sync my voice memos and one will not transfer. it is 1:10 minutes long, but I've synced longer ones. It is very important to be able to share with others in my group.

  • Voice Memos no longer syncing with iTunes

My voice memos used to automatically show in itunes.  Now I can't see them or sync them.  Has something changed?  I have backed up my phone, but I a reluctant to go past the sync step where it says all information on this computer will replace what is on the phone.  If the voice memos are not in iTunes does this mean the voice memos will be removed from the phone?

Okay, I somehow fixed it, but I don't know how or why, really. I think this is what happened:
Used a 3rd party program, iExplorer, to view my files. I copied them to my harddrive via the program.
I re-synced with itunes, and magically it found all of the memos it didn't recognize three minutes prior.

  • Voice memo won't sync to iTunes, won't play on ipod!

After successfully recording several lessons and syncing them to my laptop, my most recent voice memo did not get copied over to iTunes as usual when syncing. On closer examination, the particular voice memo will not play on the iPod, although in the iPod list of voice memos it appears as a normal voice memo, i.e., with the right time stamp and of appropriate length.
    Any ideas?
    thanks

I had same problem with my ipodtouch 5g on ios 6. i synced all of the voice memos but two of them wont sync for some reason.i called apple and was on phone for hour and half but they cound solv it. i used and idea and recorded the memos on my laptop with an aux cable and it worked out fine. it is also very easy for windows and mac.
*************************** I THINK APPLE NEEDS TO REMOVE RESTRICTION OF THEIR SOFTWARE OR THEY NEED TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO HELP THEIR COUSTMER. FROM NOW ON I WILL USE MY ANDROID PHONE TO RECORD AUDIO SO IT EASY FOR ME TO TRANSFER IN MY COMPUTER. SORRY APPLE U DON'T OFFER FREEDOM TO YOUR COUSTMER.**************************************

  • Voice memos don't sync properly

I'm very frustrated. I'm trying to sync voice memos from my wife's iPhone. iTunes simply refused to do so, no matter what I did. I synced. I unchecked and re-checked the "Include voice memos" checkbox. I deleted the voice memos playlist from iTunes and tried syncing again. Nothing worked.
Then I stumbled across a suggestion to trim the memos, and that would be enough to get dumb iTunes to finally see the memos. The problem here is two-fold. The recording I'm working on is one of my wife's aunt who just passed away telling stories from her youth. I'm not going to trim a second of that, not when it's iTunes's fault that this isn't working. The second problem is that it's 45 minutes long, and it's physically impossible to trim only a second of that on the iPhone's small screen.
So what I did was to select nothing to trim, and hit the trim button anyway. That seemed to be enough to fool iTunes into thinking it was a new memo.
So what's the problem you ask? Now I have the opposite problem: iTunes is syncing the memo EVERY TIME! I've synced the phone four times now and I have four copies of that voice memo in iTunes. I'm worried that after a year or so I'm going to have hundreds of copies of this voice memo in there.
What's going on? What can I do?
ps-before you mention it, I can't email the memo to myself, because it doesn't like a memo of that size.

It's true, I could do this, but I'd like to figure out what the problem is. Clearly iTunes is not behaving properly (this can't be how it's intended to work), so I'd like to know what I need to do to fix it. I'll test how it works on future memos, but in the process of working on this I searched and found dozens of other people with this problem and no real solution anywhere. I feel it's important to add more voices to a problem until it's heard and fixed.
Thanks for the help, though, I'll do that just to make sure the recording is backed up sufficiently.

  • Voice Memos Don't Sync

I'd like to use my iPhone 4 for dictation. But to do so I need to be able to pull the memos out through the computer because they are too long to email.
I cannot seem to sync them through iTunes. I have read the other posts on this. I have gone to the "music" tab on the iPhone and selected the sync voice memos option. I have then manually synched the iPhone. However, the voice memos are not showing up in iTunes, either as a playlist, an album, etc. I have confirmed this by searching "voice" in the music library.
Any tips/hints/suggestions on how to make this work? I am synching to a 2008 iMac Intel Core 2 Duo.

So, there is a longer thread on this that I didn't see the first time. It suggests some solutions that have worked for some but not all users. This worked for me:
    With the iPhone unplugged:
    File-->Library-->Organize Library
Plugged in iPhone--auto sync--still no memos
    File-->Sync iPhone
Voice memos synched and appeared in Voice Memo playlist.
Thanks for all the helpful posts. I hope everyone else has solved their issues too.

  • Not all Voice Memos transfer on sync w/iTunes

    iPhone 5S, iOS 7.0.4
MacBook Pro 8GB ram, OS X Mavericks
    iTunes 11.1.3 (8)
For some reason, not all of my voice memos are sycing to iTunes.  There is one in particular that I really need to access on my MacBook Pro... but it won't transfer.
    Any suggestions?

ditto. apple engineers don't know how to fix it. did you fix it? and if so....how?

  • My Voice Memos are not Syncing to iTunes

I sync my phone with my PC but my voice memos are no longer syncing and showing up on my computer. I've tried resetting settings, etc. nothing seems to fix it.
    Any suggestions?

I found the answer, at least it worked for me.
    Here ya go:
    1) open the Voice Memos app on your iPhone
    2) on any memo: click the little blue arrow on the right
    3) Click the next arrow in the top most box this will put you in the "Label" screen
    4) From the "Label" screen: click the arrow next to "Custom"
    5) In the Custom screen: give the memo a name (click Done)
    6) Click the left arrow (top left) to go back to your memos.
You'll see that you memo as a name. I changed mine from "4:25 PM" to "Fishcakes".
    7) Sync your iPhone and you are good to go.
NOTE: If for some reason this doesn't work, go back into the same "naming" list on your Iphone voice memos app, and try one of the standard labels instead of a custom one. With one that wouldn't sync, I changed it to "Memo" and then synced it again, and then it worked.

  • Voice memo won't sync with iTunes

Help! I have a 25 minute recording which won't play on my iphone and won't sync and download onto my iTunes! What do I do?

If it won't play on your phone, & itunes won't download it, it may be corrupted. Try & see if phoneview can extract it from your phone:

  • Voice Memos Playlist Not Syncing

I've tried all sorts of things, but I can't seem to get my voice memos playlist to sync to itunes.
My workaround has been to make a new smart playlist, and have it add all files that contain "iPhone" but I would rather have it work as it used to.
    Anyone else having this problem?

I found the answer, at least it worked for me.

  • IPhone syncs Voice Memos after unchecking sync box in iTunes

I do not want to sync my voice memos from my iphone to itunes so i have unchecked the sync voice memos option and they still continue to sync over and itunes creates a playlist for voice memos. I have tried this numerous times and even after a restore it still happens? Anyone have any ideas?

It will happen automatically. iTunes always syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer. All you can do is delete them or ignore them.
Keep in mind that if you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.
The "Include voice memos" button in the iTunes Music pane for your phone is only for syncing your voice memos playlist back to the phone.
