Voice memos folder syncing issues

(I'm on Windows 7 64-bit, iTunes 11, iPhone 4S)
I deleted all the voice memos from my iTunes library by mistake but did not delete the files from my computer. Now, trying to restore them to the library this is what happened:
- I dragged and dropped the files from the iTunes>iTunes Media>Voice Memos folder into iTunes library. iTunes started treating them as music files (i.e removed them from the Voice Memos folder and put them in an Unknown Album folder under Music>Unknown Artist and forgot any associated tag info)
- I synced my iPhone, but it no longer synced those voice memos
I renamed the Unknown Album to Voice Memos, moved it back to iTunes Media folder (from under Music folder) and tried syncing but did not make a difference.
Any suggestions?

  • IPhone (4) Voice Memos not Syncing to New iTunes 10.0

I'm currently on an iPhone 4 (4.0.1 firmware) and I've been experiencing issues getting my voice memos to sync to my iTunes library.
The last time this worked was August 27, 2010 which added 3 voice memos to my iTunes library successfully. Since then, I have not yet updated my firmware but have installed the new iTunes 10.0. I have 8 new voice memo recordings on my phone since the last successful sync, and I've tried syncing my phone four times today, Sept. 4, (restarting iTunes and my iPhone) with no luck. I tried recording a new voice memo to see if iTunes 10 would recognize any memos recorded after the installation but that failed as well.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I've always had the "Include Voice Memos" option selected. I think that only pertains to syncing voice memos from iTunes to the iPhone after it has been copied to iTunes. It has to be the new OS/iTunes not communicating that new memos have been recorded. For some reason they won't sync when I want them to, and then a few syncs later they magically appear.
By the way, I'm VERY comfortable with the iTunes and iPhone systems. I've been using iTunes for 5 years, and I've been recording class lectures with the iPhone voice memo app (and another app) for a couple years. It's not an error of not seeing that the memos were added; they don't exist in my library or music folders.

  • IOS 7.1.1 Voice Memos not syncing

I have selected "include voice memos" under "Sync Music" in iphone.
Since updating to 7.1.1 my voice memos are not downloading to my computer.
I have logged-out of iTunes store and shut down iTune multiple time and disconnected phone from computer, ensured that my phone is unlocked prior to sync and transfer.  All to no avail.
Of course its only two files that I am trying to get off of my phone, but still...
    What am I doing wrong?

  • Where are Voice Memos after syncing?

I've recorded a heap of Voice Memos, ticked "Sync Music" also ticked "Include voice memos" - so how do I now access those Memos in iTunes, and where do they go on my Mac hard drive (they're not in Unknown Artists). It seems to me the Memos don't get synced at all. The Ipod refuses to email any more than 8 minutes long, tells me they're too big and offers to "Trim" them, to 8 min for each send - that will take hours since most of them are about an hour each!

lllaass, this may have been the solution in January, but it no longer seems to be the case.  I recorded some memos on my phone in mid-February and I've never noticed them show up in iTunes nor have I seen a Voice Memos playlist get created.
"Include voice memos" is checked under Music on the iPhone.
Creating a Voice Memos playlist in iTunes and then syncing does pull down the audio as some posts have suggested.

I can’t seem to get my voice memos to sync back to my iphone 5 from the computer.  I have all the voice memo boxes checked.  The “voice memo” playlist is not showing up at all. • Iphone 4s voice memos not syncing to itunes?

    hi all,
i have an iphone 4s, purchased in october 2011. all the software is up to date, as is the software on my macbook pro (running 10.5.8). the itunes version i use is 10.5.3.
i used the voice memos function for the first time recently, have two recordings of workshops, one is 45 mins long, the other about 1 hour 15 mins long. when i came home, i connected my iphone to the macbook, launched itunes, checked the box under the music tab that said "include voice memos" and hit sync. when done syncing, i saw that under all the playlists was a section for voice memos, but nothing in it. my phone has the two voice memos, but the itunes, after syncing everything, does not. i repeat, this is despite having checked the "include voice memos" box.
has anyone faced this issue before? is there any way for me to transfer these memos to my computer? any way to get the syncing to work?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
hope the new year is treating everyone well so far. cheers!...r

  • IPhone 5 long voice memos not synced in iTunes

    Hi,
Today, I've recorded 3 voice memo longer than 3 hours long on my iPhone 5, iOS8.
I've checked "sync Voice Memos" in the Music tab of iTunes 11.4 sync, but those new memo don't get synced.
By the way, looking into the "on my iPhone" tab, I can't see the recordings. I can see older recordings, though.
I can play all the voice memos on the iPhone, including the 3 recordings of today.
I've tried to send them via email but they don't get through, probably because they are too big.
AirDrop on iOS8 doesn't seem to be able to "speak" with Mac Os X 10.9.4's AirDrop.
Any way I can get those big recordings transferred ?

    Hi,
    I found a solution.
Maybe it helps, if anybody has the asme issue.
Download iBrowse (http://www.ibrowseapp.com), and the recordings will be accessible, even those hidden by iTunes.
I could export my recordings with that software.
This is definitely a bug of iTunes or IOS, and if Apple reads this, they might want to fix it.

  • Broken voice memos after sync -- any hope for recovery?

    Dear all,
I finally found where all my memos that I did not find in the Voice Memos playlist went. They were in the Unknown Album folder of Unknown Artist, being m4a files that iTunes could not analyze. These files appear to be really corrupted, as not even QuickTime opens them. This is bad, as I really would need all (these are all lectures from my last semester in school). Have you had any experience with files getting corrupted during sync, and do you have any tips to recover these?
In a bit more detail, I noticed some files missing, but as my mic had a flaky connection (Blue Mikey is said to have problems with a few iPods having unusual dock connectors), I cursed myself for not paying more attention. But now I see many more files, and I think the syncing processes during the semester sometimes went awry (the analysis of the files always takes very long, and sometimes updates disrupted the process, or I mistakenly put my MacBook to sleep).
Is there any way to recover the raw files from the iPod, or nothing else is available than the garbled sound files? If so, do you have any guess how I might still be able to open them? (Say, these are really mp3s, not m4as, so if I correct the file format... etc.)
Thank you very much, this would be really important!
    Laszlo

And backing them up by email is not an option, since some of the files are over 30 minutes long.

  • Voice Memos not syncing from my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook Pro. Sync music is ticked in iTunes along with include Voice Memos box

Hi, I am trying to get my voice memos from my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook Pro via iTunes and it is not working. I have ticked sync music in the music tab of the iPhone device and the include voice memos box is also ticked. So, apparently this should work, but there is no sign of the voice memos in iTunes or in the iTunes folder in the finder window. Any ideas much appreciated! :-) Thank you.

  • HT1386 Voice Memos not syncing with iTunes iOS 8.1 (12B411) iTunes 11.4 (18)

My phone is an iPhone 5.
I have tried everything I can think of.
Any voice memo older than last week will not transfer to my itunes on my mac.
I just recorded 2 new ones and they transferred fine.
When I open up itunes on my macbook pro and click on "On This iPhone" all my voice memos don't show up even though I have over 30 of them in the phone.
Only the last 2 show. And when I go to itunes music library only one shows up which is the one I just recorded as a test.
    Any sugestions?

  • Voice memos not syncing

I'm trying to just transfer voice memos from the IOS voice memo app to my laptop.
Selected the device, then "Music" tab, then "Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres," then checked "Include voice memos."
    Then clicked "Sync"
Nothing happens. The voice memos are on the iPhone, I can see them in iTunes and on my iPhone. They do not transfer. It would be great to just select them and drag them into my Library but I guess we're not allowed to do that, we have to do it some really complicated other way.
I have transferred voice memos in the past, but every time it's like reinventing the wheel over and over again. Definitely not a straightforward set of steps. I find this baffling.
Another baffling issue, all voice memos show up under Device > Music (iPhone device in left column), but only some show up under Device > Voice Memos (again, left column).
Don't know what else to say, it just doesn't seem to transfer. What am I missing. iTunes 11, iphone 4S. Please help.

I rarely use voice memos, today I needed to. I had not checked the sync button previously, and of course my new voice memos didn't sync even after I tried again. By now I hope you've found a solution, but since it's still soon after your post, I found this info on a macrumors forum, which worked like a charm for me, so I hope it can still help you or someone else:
"This is how it was resolved on iphone...not sure if it will work for ipod
I found the solution on another forum  (source is at bottom)...but basically I noticed that if i created a fresh new voice memo and then synced...then it worked.  So the problem then became that older voice memos weren't syncing..
    so the solution is to:-
go to each old memo  and TRIM it  (see the little blue arrow, far right of each memo..click on that arrow and trim by 1 second)..then when you sync ..it sees the voice memo as a new one and syncs it fine

  • Voice Memo not syncing as advertised.

Voice Memos arent working right for me. I have them set to sync, but itunes never did sync them no matter what I did (I thought). So I manually created the Voice Memo playlist it was supposed to make for me, then it finally started automatically putting them in there. It actually was syncing the files over to my main library with just a time and date file name... but no play list and no easy way to find them all or manage them all without searching for each one individually.
Any change I make in iTunes does not change anything on my iPhone in the Voice Memo app. Deleting them from the playlist leaves them in my library, I have to search my library for the date names they are saved as and delete them from there. After deleting them from iTunes, it does not remove them in Voice Memo from my iPhone, they are still there. Syncing my iPhone puts them back as music files onto my iPhone, and they are still in Voice Memo separately... its very confusing because this isnt how Apple said its supposed to work. Maybe the playlist is set up wrong because I had to manually do it and it wont auto create one?

    Matthew Morgan wrote:
Then, I recorded a new Voice Memo on the phone, and synced again. The result in iTunes was another copy of the previous memo and the new memo, for a total of three.
That's interesting. That was not my experience as I played around with Voice Memos.
Interestingly, even though I have the Include Voice Memos checked, voice memos that are in iTunes, but have been deleted from the Voice Memo App do not get synced back to the iPhone. With the box unchecked, Voice Memos don't seem to get synced back to iTunes at all.
I also can't seem to get the Voice Memos playlist to show up in the iPod at all.

    Matt
mines not working like that at all... not even close.... i get multiple copies... also it will NOT create a Voice Memos playlist for me. I've tried over and over. If I manually create one called Voice Memos, it uses it, but I don't think its using it right since it keeps syncing the same memos every time to get multiple copies.
