hello, i have iphone 5s with software virsion 7.0.6
i plugged the iphone into itunes latest virsion (11.1.5) on my laptop to get to voice memos and transferre them to my desktop, i syncronized the iphone many times and i could see the voice memos and play them on itunes, but i couldnt copy them or export them. in the last syncronization i plugged off the iphone in the middle of sync proccess as a result i can see my voice memos on the iphone now but it doesnt play, the voice memos list is all in gray and doesnt play at all!
notice that with another iphone 5s and different computer i could see the voice memos, play them AND COPY THEM to the desktop without syncronization!
now, the question is if i plugged in the iphone to the itunes again, will the voice memos be back to the iphone?
if you have any suggestions please provide me with.

You should never try to sync your phone with more than one computer or you will lose your data.  The pictures were not deleted because the sync process does not touch Camera Roll pictures (it only includes them during the backup step of the sync process).
If you had these voice memos on your phone when you last synced it to your first computer, and if you haven't synced to this computer since then, you could restore from the backup created during your last sync.  This will replace the data on your phone with the data from this older backup so anything new will be lost.  If you think that is the case, do not sync your phone again to the first computer prior to restoring from this backup or you will overwrite it and the backup will be lost.  Instead, prior to connecting your phone to your first computer, open iTunes and disable automatic syncing by going to iTunes Preferences and on the Devices tab checking "Prevent...from syncing automatically".  Then connect your phone and when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on its name and select Restore From Backup and choose your last backup (containing your voice memos).
If you didn't have these voice memos on your phone when you last synced to your first computer, or if you have synced again to your first computer since losing your data, then your voice memos and other data are lost.

  • I updated to iOS 7 beta 1, and Voice Memos is gone - how to get it back?!

It is still appearing on the Settings> General > Usage page as 'com.apple.VoiceMemos' with no icon and 36.4MB used - but I need to access the voice memos I have saved. They were not synced to iTunes previously. Help?!

iOS7 was only released for developers as a BETA it is not ready for Pubic usage and can have several issues yet to be ironed out. As such there is nothng we can do to help.
If you are a developer, you should have backuped up the Phone prior to installing Beta software. Though why you are installing beta software on a phone that's in current use is beyond me.  If you are not, then there's no reason you should be nor be able to install the Beta software at this time.

  • HT4859 When I tried to restore my new iPhone all I got was my contacts, all of my images and voice memos are gone.  I was backing up via wi-fi at home to the iCloud.  How can I retrieve the images and voice memos?

The voice memos, in particular, are important as they contain several conversations I had with my, now decieced, grandmother.  I was under the mistaken impression that everything was being backed up nightly when I was connected to wi-fi at home and plugged in to a charger.

You could try restoring the backup again.  Sometimes people have more success the second time.

  • Voice memos icon gone

How do I get it back? I know I can restore, but since I've never done that before, I am not sure what gets "lost" during that process so I haven't done it.

Is the icon not on another page?

  • Update to IOS 6 and Voice Memos are now gone.

My daughter has an old iPhone 3GS without a phone plan that she uses as an iPod.  Tonight, she updated it to IOS 6 without telling me, which means it wasn't backed up prior to the update.  Now, all her Voice Memos are gone, and she hasn't synced it with iTunes since last summer - assuming that the Voice Memos were going to iCloud.
A quick Google search tells me that Voice Memos aren't backed up to iCloud.  Is it possible that these Voice Memos exist somewhere on the phone that we can recover?
If not, she has learned a hard lesson about doing major updates like this.  I haven't updated my phone yet because I want to be sure everything is backed up first.
    Thanks,
    Marie

I am having the same issue. Updated to ios6 via the phone (iphone 4) and now all of my voice memos are missing. I have the majority backed up somewhat recently to itunes, but I'm baffled as to why all of them would go away on the phone after the update?

  • IPhone 5s deleted voice memo

I use voice memos a lot and in the new IOS 7, it asks you to name them before saving them. I had a 2 hour long voice memo and while I was naming it, I got a call and left that screen, when I went back to it the voice memo was gone. Can't seem to find it anywhere. Any ideas on how to get it back? Seems strange that it would be deleted

It's a problem on the carrier's end - there have been many threads posted here about this issue.

  • How do I save Voice Memos from iTunes to Macbook? When I updated.....

When updated my software today to 6.1.3 the voice memos were GONE off of my iPod but they were recognized when I synced it when plugged back in. They imported into the voice memos folder in iTunes but they are no longer visible on the iPod. They are extremely important and captured some special moments from my son's childhood, so I desparately need to either get them back onto the iPod so that I can email them to myself or somehow create a hard copy on my computer somewhere. I'm not sure if the files are ONLY stored in iTunes or if they are lurking somewhere on my computer that I'm unable to locate. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

The are only stored in iTunes now (since they do not appear on your iPod) and can't be imported back into the Voice Memo's app on the iPod. Go to the voice memos in your iTunes libary and righ click on one and select Get Info. The bottom of the Summary tab gives the location of the file.Go thee and do what y want with it.

  • Lost voice memos after ios 7

I just realized my voice memos were gone.
    I'm using cloud for backup.
    Memos definitely aren't in iTunes.
Tried several free trials of 79 dollar programs and am not seeing memos.
I'd do almost anything to get these back. And suggestions or gurus I could pay?
    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

Try Dr.Fone to scan your iPhone for the voice memos.

  • How to restore voice memo

Hi I connected my iPhone 4s to iTUnes and did a backup. After this one all my voice memo were gone from iPhone. My memos are not there, the list is empty. How can I retrieve the voice memos?
Where are they stored on iTunes please?

Try restoring the backup.  It should include voice memos.

  • Voice memos lost after restore. I've tried everything.

When I plugged my iPhone 5 in a few weeks ago it said it needed to update the software. I clicked OK. It froze hard while doing this. I had to do a restore. That's when I "lost" my voice memos. For voice memos I use the app "Recorder" by Bear-Software (I asked them for help but got no answer). After the restore all of my voice memos are gone, sort of. The folders and times of the individual voice memos were all put back on my iPhone, but if I try to play any of them I get the message "Warningw (sic) There was an error loading the sound file." I looked at my time machine backups. It appears that my voice memos stopped backing up about one year ago. Why, I don't know (I have Voice Memos checked in iTunes). I tried iExplorer and Wondershare Dr.Fone. All they find are those 17 old voice memos from a year or two ago. Ditto for PhoneView. Nothing from the past 12 months. Hundreds of voice memos are gone, but if they are really gone how were the "titles" of each voice memo (the day/month/time), and even the exact number of seconds for each one, put back on the iPhone without the actual associated audio file? Am I looking in the wrong place for these backups?
User --> Library --> Application Support --> MobileSync --> Backup
This MobileSync Backup file has every item in it listed as a "document."
Any help will be much appreciated!

This support document tells you about the location of your backups http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
The backup file is not intended to be looked at as if it were just a compilation of data, it is somewhat encrypted.
Did this app supposed to have saved the voicememo in such a way that when you sync the phone it was located as music? I don't think an application has the access to the iOS to be able to do this. I would think they are located within the app itself as app data like may other apps are. If that is the case, the app data should be saved as part of the backup, but should only be accessed via the app itself.
My thought is that the only place for you to get support on this would be the app developer, as they should be able to tell you how you might be able to find where data is stored.

  • IPhone 6 voice memo won't work

    Hi,
Just bought and sync'd my new iPhone 6 and everything has worked so far except my voice memo app. Two issues:
    1) When I open the app all of my memos start loading, then the app closes on it's own.
    2) When I reopen the app, voice memos are gone and when I push the red record button, it wiggles a couple of times and then...nothing.
Thoughts or suggestions. And yes, I've done a power cycle.
    Thanks

    Potential solutions:
Try going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings and see if that makes a difference. You will need to set up some bits and pieces again after, but it won’t delete any files or photos.
Some owners found it was caused by an old backup. If you are restoring from a backup you made with an older iPhone, that could be the problem. Try setting the iPhone 6 up as new, factory reset it, and then put everything on it manually, and you might find that the problem is gone.
If it persists, then you may have a hardware fault and you should contact Apple or head into an Apple Store to get it looked at. They should replace it for free if there’s a problem.

  • Lost voice memos

I had a bunch of voice memos on my iphone that wouldn't sync with itunes. I didn't think anything about it and figured it was a glitch that would get fixed. Well, after installing 6.0 OS, all of my voice memos are gone. Is there a way to retrieve these? I need them back, bad!!!!!

I was horrified to open my Voice Memos app earlier this evening and discover a distinct absence of recordings, as well. I downloaded iExplorer and, without purchasing or registering the software, was able to recover my memos from a backup.
    Download here: http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/
Upon opening iExplorer, chose "Continue with Demo" in the bottom right corner. Chose "Backups" on the right, under "Explore." A dialog box will prompt you to "Use Last Backup" or "Refresh." Click "Use Last Backup."
From the list of folders you now see, open "MediaDomain>Media>Recordings." Your voice memos are the files of type M4A. Simply select those files and drag them into a new folder on your desktop. You can then add the files from the folder on your desktop to iTunes and make a playlist or whatever else your heart desires. The dates and times of the memos seem to be lost, but at least the recordings themselves were salvagable. Hopefully this process resolves your issue. Good luck!
Also, I think it would be in our best interest to take a lesson from this, and manually backup our recordings on a regular basis from this point forward.
