Voice over and singing...maybe inst. recording

I'm looking for the best bang for my buck on something that would firewire/USB into my Macs to record...well, anything. I have some nice mics and would also like to be able to record inst. tracks. This is for my students and I'd really like to hear what everyone things is the best way to go.

I could get away with a 2 if need be or would use up
to 6 to record our school choir if I had them.
There's a big price difference between 2 and 4 or more, however if you'd be willing to push your budget just a few dollars more, I see that zzounds has the firePod for $520 (and I would search around to see if anyone else had better deals, though that's nearly a $100 price drop since the last time I checked on it). The FirePod will allow you to record up to 8 channels at the same time, and is a fantastic interface. I use one and am amazed at the quality of the noise free recordings.

It also requires no drivers. Plug it in, turn on your Mac (or wake it from sleep) and it's ready to go

I personally would recommend a FireWire interface over USB, and of course that short list is just a starting point. Searches at zzounds, sweetwater, and musiciansfriend for "Firewire interface" will turn up dozens more.

Voice Over and Touchtype on Numpad

I am using numpad keyboard for entering amounts. When I am using Voice Over and Touchtype I have to double tap to enter the value but on the standard keyboard I can do the one tap. Is there a work around for this, any help would be appreciated? I don't want my customers having a problem switching how they use different keyboards.

VoiceOver is an Accessibility feature while Voice Control allows you to control the Music app via voice.
To turn off VoiceOver triple click the Home button and go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn it off. Use three fingers to scroll if necessary.

Unable to turn off voice over and all of a sudden the touch screen is extremely slow to respond.

I am unable to turn off Siri/voice over and the touch screen is nearly unresponsive. Brought it to Best Buy to have the geeks look at it and and weren't really receptive unless I ponied up some cash for a service plan. Was hoping someone could help me out. Thanks!

The screen is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. You may have to also place the iPod in recovery mode in ordrer to allow a restore. For recovry mode:

Screen locked with voice over and zero value

My ipad screen is locked with voice over and every time I put in my pass code it just repeats and says zero value. How do I get into my ipad without having to loose all my data. Have icloud backup but not sure if that is working properly.Frustrated!

Try triple-clicking the home button and see if that turns it off, and if it does you can then change what a triple-click does via Settings > General > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut (or Triple-Click Home depending upon the iOS version).
If that doesn't turn it off then you can either turn it off directly on the iPad to go into Settings > General > Accessibility and turn VoiceOver 'off'. You need to use a tap-to-select and then double-tap to activate/type process and 3 fingered scrolling e.g. to type a digit of your passcode tap the digit so that it gets a box around it, and then double-tap the digit to type it.
Or you can do it by connecting to your computer's iTunes (after typing in your passcode via the tap/double-tap process) : select the iPad in iTunes, select its Summary tab, scroll to the bottom of that and click the 'configure accessibility' button :
And on the popup select 'none' for the 'seeing' option :
Clicking 'ok' should turn it 'off' on your iPad

Voice Over doesn't need someone to type in the text first. Voice Over works with specific screen displayed information so that a blind person can know where his/her cursor is or what is being displayed. Although it is an application of text to talk it's more than the text to talk feature.

How can I record a voice over and save as MP3?

Good morning! I do voice overs. In my studio I STILL have a PC and use adobe audition. For my day to day business I know have a MAC BOOK PRO. I am going on vacation and need to record on my MacBook Pro with Garage Band.
I have successfully set up my Mic(studio Projects C1) and my travel PreAmp (MAudioDuo) to record in Garage Band. All I need is dry voice. I have recorded a track but need to save is as an MP3. The test track I recorded is about 15 seconds long but yet plays for 30 seconds...I have deleted everything after the voice but it still seems like the track is longer. I have to put in MP3 format. How do I do this? This is a nice program but looks like it is too much for what I need it to do. So, any other recommendations on more appropriate software is appreciated if needed.
