Voice over feature

hi im kinda new here os idk if this is right section or not but anyway-
my iphone 3gs is stuck at the unlock screen and i cant unlock it because the voice over feature is enabled, i was jsut messing about with it and it locked before i turned it off and now it wont let me unlock even tho i, double tap,flick 3 fingers and all that other stuff, idk what to do. thanks in advance if some1 could help.

Connect the iPhone to your computer, select it in iTunes, click "Configure Universal Access", and turn off "VoiceOver".

All that I saw was the black bar saying authentication busy. I was not able to restart, I was not able to switch users, I was not able to shut down. I decided to manually shut down my Mac. when it booted back up I was looking at the disk utility screen. When I clicked on repair or race it indicated that my hard drive had already been arranged. I was looking at completely formatted drive and I was having to either restore from Time Machine or reinstall lion. I had a back up but why did this happen?

A possible workaround could be to have the horizontal scroll bar visible all the time.

I am visually impared and use the voice over feature. Somehow the screen curtain" has been turned ON and I cannot find out how to disable it withouut turning voice over OFF. I'm really in the dark now.

We are aware if the 'black box' issue with the shim installer (downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer), however, this should not be the case with the full installer. OKAY. WHILE I HAVE HAD MUCH SUCCESS WITH KEYNOTE THERE ARE STILL SOMETHINGS THAT I EITHER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OR JUST NEED TO BE TAUGHT HOW TO DO IT. FIRST WHEN I EXPORT TO A QUICKTIME FILE IT ALLOWS YOU TO SET THE TIMING PER SLIDE FOR THE WHOLE .MOV. THE TIMING IS NOT INDIVIDUAL FOR THE SLIDE BUT FOR ALL SLIDES IN THE MOVIE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE INDIVIDUAL TIMING FOR EACH SLIDE IN THIS EXPORT FEATURE!

When I need to take a Keynote presentation and add audio or vary the length of slides I export the presentation as a Quicktime movie and do the voiceover in iMovie where I can easily edit the presentation

Extract Audio Narration Track from Keynote with Voice Over

I just found a way to extract the audio narration track from a keynote I recorded using the voice over feature.
I used BetterZip.
I right-clicked on my keynote to show the "Open With..." contextual menu. I had the keynote open with BetterZip instead of Keynote and it extracted all the elements of the presentation into a folder. I saw in there several audio tracks.
Now, Keynote did not split the audio tracks into individual slide snippets but that's better than any other technique I have read on this forum so far.
I hope this helps someone in the future.

If you save your Keynotes as a package, then you can right click and +Show Package Content+ and see all the files that make up your Keynote as well. To save your Keynotes as a package go to Preferences and click +Save new documents as packages.+

Can I setup my new macbook air without the voice over?

I was given a new macbook air as a gift and if it cannot be setup or used without the voice over feature I will have to return it. I cannot imagine why anyone would think this is a good idea. I just want to use it like a laptop.... is that too much to ask?

I'm having the same exact issue. Got it as a gift, and can't get past the set up. I would try the fix dominic suggested, IF I could just get past the "What country do you live in" question. It won't let me select a country, and so far, can't access anything else on this thing until I get past that part... which I can't, after trying for 3 hours now.
The steps given in the 'voiceover' tutorial don't seem to do anything, but cause system error beeps.
I can't select a country via the 'mouse pad' either.

Voice over comes on indiscriminately

New ipod nano worked fine for a few months, now the voice over comes on indiscriminately while listening to music and sometimes will read every platlist, it will sometimes skip to the next song in the middle of the first song. The voice over feature is always turned off when I check it

First, make sure voiceover is off.
Connect to your computer and view the nano in iTunes.
On the summary screen there should be a button titled "Configure Universal Access". If there is no button of this kind, install the 1.1 update for the Nano. At the summary screen, the update button should indicate that the 1.1 update is available for you.
After you update to 1.1, find the button mentioned above. Click it and make sure all the check boxes are NOT checked. Then sync.
Now see if everything works for you.
If this does not work, restore the ipod.
If none of that solves it, it sounds like the sweat you are generating from your run is causing the problem. If you have a headset with controls on it, your sweat can get into the controls and simulate a press and hold of the button which would cause the nano to speak the current track.

Voice Over Help-How do I stop unwanted scrolling?

Okay so I've just discovered the voice over feature a few days ago and I've already learned the controls and have been using it for reading fanfiction on Safari because I'm too lazy to read it myself. My problem is that everytime I lock my screen or my battery runs low and it gives me a warning, **** even if I go to another tab or try to have a word defined for me, after I'm done the screen will annoyingly scroll to the top of the **** page! Leaving me to do that annoying three finger scroll thing to get all the way back to where I was. I've checked my setting to see if there was a way to make it stop but I couldn't find anything. I already searched it on the internet but most-**** if not all of the questions regarding the voice over is how to turn it off.
So can somebody please tell me there is a way to make it stop scrolling to top of the screen everytime I divert from the page I was originally on? I fear that there isn't and I'm going to but stuck with this annoying feature forever. Seriously why would the programmers program for that to happen? It has no usefulness that I can think of, if I wanted to scroll to the top of the page I would do so by using the two finger flick up.

Well that's good enough for me, I'm not as agitated as I was before about it. I actually found a way to stop it from scrolling up by quickly tapping the screen before it's to late. It's worked for everything except when I go to a new page and come back. I assume voice over was meant for a blind person and not a lazy person like me.

I came across the voice over feature on my iPhone and was wondering if there was any way I could record it saying something with my voice memo feature?

If you simply want to change the command used, or add an extra command that does the same thing, you just need to know that the file names are used as the name of the commands for Speakable Items.
If you open system preferences, the speech pane, select "Speech Recognition" at the top and then "Commands" on the next line there's a button there - it's labeled "Open Speakable Items Folder". Click on that and it shows you a folder containing all the global commands. If you want to change one of these, you can edit the file name. It's probably safer if you duplicate the file ("duplicate" from the context menu) and then change the name of the copy, so the original is still there in case of mishaps! I'm not sure if a comma in the file name would work but I suspect it wouldn't - none of the commands there have commas in them.
If you want to change a command in a specific application then open the "Application Speakable Items" folder and explore from there.
Another thing which might help is to go back to System Preferences and click on the "Global Speakable Items" in the command set list and then click the "Configure" button. There's an option there which will make more variations on the commands work.
The most complicated way is to write your own new speakable items. This gives you the most flexibility but also you need to learn some AppleScript to enable you to do it. If you want to learn AppleScript, check out the AppleScript resources - it does lots more than just speakable commands and the general resources should help you most.

How can I remove accessibility text and voice over from the logon screen?

Before I log on to my Mac, in the logon screen I get accessibility text and voice over features enabled all the time. I can remove them by pressing cmd + f5 several times until they're gone (while I'm still in the logon screen). I would like to remove them permanently so that they never appear in the logon screen.

Can you provide an example? I've been trying (for
example) "select translate(' test one', ascii(' '),
'X') from dual" with no luck.

when i use the voice over feature.......they announce my chinese playlist using mandarin when i want them to use cantonese....anyone knows how to change it??? i know how to use specific language for individual song...but im talking about the playlist....

Not sure as to what you want here, but I'll give it my best shot. So you want to know how to change the language for a playlist instead am I correct? If so, I'm not entirely positive that is possible for just playlists, but one way you could do it is to change the VoiceOver language for your iPod as a whole to Chinese (Cantonese).
Perhaps you could make this suggestion to Apple through this feedback form.
