Voice Over/ itunes 11.1.2./ Error 1701

Hi,
I've tried for a few days to download voice over for itunes 11.1.2 without success after having upgraded to Mavericks.
All I get is an "error 1701"
Does anyone have experienced that?

For Mac OS X:
Quit iTunes.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder.
Enter /Library/Application Support/iTunes and click Go.
Drag the "iPodVoiceOver.framework" folder to the Trash.
Open iTunes.
Sync your iPod  to iTunes.
heres the solution that will work for most.
unfortunely it hasnt worked for me as of yet on mavericks and im still getting the 1701 error code.

  • Cant enable voice over [itunes 9.0 win vista]

i cant enable voice over on my shuffle.it says itunes was unable to install voice over kit. an unknown error occurred [32]. what should i do?

I just encountered the same problem with a Shuffle 4th gen on Win7 64bit. Apple tech support was clueless. I figured out how to deal with it. Here's how to get it installed.
    1) Open iTunes and allow it to download the Voice kit; leave iTunes running.
    2) Browse to C:\users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Temp (remember iTunes must still be running and you must have just downloaded the voice kit).
    3) Copy the file IpodVoiceOverSetup.exe to some other directory on your computer.
    4) Close iTunes
    5) Go to the directory where you copied the file; click it. If it asks to Repair or Uninstall, tell it to Uninstall. Then click the file again and install it.
    6) Open iTunes; the feature should now be enabled.
If for some reason it doesn't work, then close iTunes, go back to the file, right click on it and "Run as Administrator."

  • Error 1701 voice over kit?

I cant download voice kit either - keep getting the 1701 error message!!!!!

  • Voice over gets error measage 1701

    New iPod shuffle
    Won't load voice over
Also I noticed it won't let me choose a language after enable voice over

I managed to reinstall VoiceOver by activating it from Itunes on the Windows machine. In my case it was a Win8 trial one on VMWare Fusion, but seems that any can work. Since the problem appears only on Mavericks, it's likely that Itunes on MacOS 10.8 or earlier will work too.

Hello user i had the same problem, it is actually very easy to resolve the problem. The problem is that a problem with the installation occurs with iTunes and the file "iPodVoiceOver.dll" when installed in any way forgotten. To do this you must restore the file ( "iPodVoiceOver.dll"), download and add to the program folder of iTunes: - "+C: / program / iTunes+" -. Here's the download link for the missing file. Here you can download the missing file.
    iPodVoiceOver.dll : http://ul.to/8qqbhx
I hope it has solved your problem. With friendly greetings James I.

When setting up Voice over an unknown error occured (1703)? What is wrong? This happens to me on my shuffle and Nano, how can I fix it?

Sounds like the VoiceOver dll wasn't installed properly or is missing.  Try installing the latest version of iTunes over your existing installation on your Mac.

  • Itunes unknown error 1701

I know this topic has been raised before but I cannot find a resolution.  Opening iTunes prompts me to download a new VoiceOver kit.  It downloads but won't install.  I get an unknown error 1701.  This is latest Mac OS (10.8.3) and iTunes (11.0.4).

Good question! In order to install the VoiceOver Kit, iTunes writes a version.plist into /Library/Application Support/iTunes/iPodVoiceOver.framework/Versions/A/Resources/ which specifies that Apple Software Update should make the VoiceOver Kit available to install on your machine. But if there's an error, iTunes deletes that plist. The commands basically do the same thing iTunes does; it writes that plist back where iTunes had it. Then, when you run softwareupdate --list, we can check which updates are available for your machine, and the VoiceOver Kit should be listed. If it's not listed, that's why you're getting the 1701 error.
One command at a time, the "set +H" temporarily disables the "!-style history expansion" of the BASH shell. We need this because the third command has an exclamation point in it. When you open a new Terminal window, this setting will be back to your default.
The second command creates the directory we're going to write the version.plist into.
The third command writes the version.plist into the directory we created. The contents of this plist are the same as what iTunes writes when you first go to install the VoiceOver Kit.
If you're fast, you can actually see iTunes create that version.plist in /Library/Application Support/iTunes/iPodVoiceOver.framework/Versions/A/Resources/ when you click Enable VoiceOver in the iPod settings and Apply. And then when you get the 1701 error, you'll see that iTunes deletes that version.plist.
Finally, softwareupdate --list just lists the available software updates for your machine; it doesn't actually install any. We want to examine that list!

Try assigning the VO to a track other than an existing one. This can be done when the VO window first opens.

  • ITunes Voice Over on iCloud and iPhone?

I used to have an iPod mini that supported voice over... introducing the songs/artist of my playlist... I found this really useful as I 5000+ songs in my favourites list and a s**t memory...
I now use iCloud for the management/delivery on songs to my iPhone and the voice over function would be really useful...
Is it still available and if so how do I set it up?
    Many Thanks...
