'Voice Over' Keeps Listing Audiobooks?

Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem. The Voice Over will keep listing my audiobooks if I do the following:
1. Pause the book I was listening to
2. Let it turn itself off
3. Turn the device back on using the center button
By "keep listing", I mean it will continually say the book title and author then the next and it will repeat until I restart.
I love my pod, its just the Voice Over is too annoying to justify being left on. When and if Apple fixes this, I might turn it back on.
So, does anyone else's Nano have this problem?

I just try the log out and log back in thing and it did not turn back on. I then tried restarting all together and it did not turn back on. So i guess it is fixed. I wish i knew what happened to have it turn back on though. I'm really sure how i could have accidentally hit cmd & F5 to turn it on but i guess i must have. I was probably adjusting the volume and some how had my finger on the cmd button instead of 'fn'. Another I D 10 T error lol.
Thanks for the help. I'll prob be back if it comes back on though. I'll make sure i dont hit the cmd and f5 key together.

  • Voice Over Keeps turning on.

First of before you guys start in I already know how to turn of the voice over in sys prefs and using the F5 method. I have also checked my log on items and there are only two things there. One is disabled and the other is ICAL.
Problem: Voice over turns back on every time I restart my computer and I hate it. It is getting really annoying to have to turn it off every time I start my computer. the only thing I can think of is to maybe create some sort of script to automatically turn it off, but there has to be a better way. Feel free to ask me the stupid questions, apart from the things that I already tried.
Btw, my computer is a mac book pro with os x leopard and is fully updated according to the update thing.

  • Voice over keeps switching on automatically

I kept having issue with my voice over switching on automatically on my Ipod nano during exercise. After about 20min of exercise it would automatically start announcing song title and playlists continually. After restoring settings and ensuring voice over was off in settings it would be ok for ~20min before frustratingly happening again during next work out. Read an online chat with other users having similar issues with high end earphones and sweat somehow getting into the controls on the earphone cord and switching on voice over. Switched to low end earphones and problem now fixed but missing sound quality. Is there anyway to fix permanently ?

  • Voice Over keeps saying things!

At first I thought it was just a programs setting. I have it so this program, weather snitch, would open each time I logged in and it shows a weather icon (sun, cloud, etc) and the temp. Every now and then my computer's voice over (which is set to off) would say the city and the temperature. So, I turned that program off. Then, when using FireFox, it said there was an update for something. It just said something now about Safari now. How do I stop this? It is very annoying!

The voice overs have stopped for some reason, maybe because I checked and then unchecked the voice over box. I don't know, but thanks anyways!
That often happens; changing a setting seems to force the program to take it into account properly.

  • IPhone4 HomeButton Not Working & Voice Cntrl Keeps Popping Up

Yesterday my home button stopped working & the Voice Control (not voice over) keeps popping up.  This happened 3 other times this year.  I've backed it up in iTunes, and every time I try to restore it, it just keeps telling me it see's a phone in recovery mode.  This is the most frustrating thing in the world to deal with right now.
Does anyone have any advice before I just throw it against a wall?  Seriously I would if I weren't expecting an important call.
In the meantime, I went to Settings/General/Accessibility and turned on the Assistive Touch so I now have a stupid little make believe home button floating around on my screen to atleast help me temporarily with the Home Button not working issue...
    Help!

A little late here but if you're still facing the issue there are a couple of things you can try.
From what you've said about Voice Control popping up, it looks like yours is a completely hardware issue. So all those gimmicks about software recalibration might not work. You should check out http://www.igeeksblog.com/iphone-home-button-not-working/ where there are some fixes for an unresponsive home button.
Alternatively, you can try whacking the back of the phone (right behind the home button, with your knuckle) and check if that fixes the thing temporarily.
The best thing would be to get to the Apple Store and let the guys fix it. Even if it costs money... because that way, you get the issue sorted or at least know where you stand.

  • I have been trying to export a keynote powerpoint with voice over to quick time. It keeps crashing. Can anything be done?

I have been trying to export a keynote powerpoint with voice over to quick time. It keeps crashing. Can anything be done?

Can you explain this better, there appears to be a strange work flow going on,  have you imported PowerPoint into Keynote or you are trying to export to PowerPoint?
There are many users who have trouble with a recorded voice over going to Quicktime.
Try this repair, its sorted out many similar problems in the past.
Complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1  delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote by using Appcleaner from Mac Update to           do this, its freeware
2  restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3  immediately after the start chime,  press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
let it fully boot up,  it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4  when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive  then First Aid tab and           click  repair disc permissions
5  when complete, restart the Mac normally
6  install Keynote from the Mac App Store
Please report back to let us know if this helped.

  • TS3274 My Air Ipad keeps switching to voice-over, it will not allow me to enter my password. It keeps saying that I've entered the wrong password.  It's asking for a password of zero value. How can I correct this.

My Air Ipad keeps switching to voice-over, and it will not allow me to enter my password. It keeps saying that I've entered the wrong password.  It's asking for a password of zero value. When I enter my personal password that I created, it say it the wrong password, then it say try again in 5 minutes and shuts itself down.  Is anyone else having this issue and how can I fix it?

    Hello SharonLo
Your best bet would be to restore your iPad if it is not accepting your passcode. Check out the article below to walk you putting your iPad into recovery mode and using iTunes to restore it.
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

  • I use Garageband 09 to record voice overs via podcasting, female narrator noisy, but keep getting an intermittent clicking sound. It's not the metronome. I have a good quality external USB mic plugged in. Any ideas?

I use GarageBand 09 to record voice overs via the Podcasting then Female Narrator Noisy utility. I have a good quality external mic plugged in. I keep getting an intermittent clicking sound on the audio track. It's not the metronome as that is turned off. I have to edit out the clicking after recording. I can see the spikes on the waveline. Any ideas how I can prevent this happening?

Hi again and thanks so much for replying.
The 'mic jack' on the old mic is both wide and large, measuring about an inch and a quarter from the base (where it comes out of the black encasing) to the edge of the tip (sort of cone shaped). As I can't plug this in directly to any port in the back of the Mac, I thought it might be possible to to buy some sort of adapter so that I could plug in the jack at one end, with a USB connector at the other end to go straight into the Mac. But I see from your comment that you are suggesting a smaller jack itself (i.e., large size jack to small size jack and then plug in to the small round port, instead of jack to USB port)?
At the Mac shop I bought a USB adapter to connect up a second monitor (screen). I've just dug out the package and it's called a mini display port to VGA adapter. But back to the mic issue, I don't want to use the old mic really, I'm just trying to eliminate whether or not my usual mic, or its USB cable, is at fault and causing the clicking.
I looked on Amazon for a suitable adapter but there was mention of these little gadgets having a sound card. As the Mac obviously has its own internal sound card, I couldn't see the point of another (exernal) one, unless it was actually required to convert the sound from input to output (playback) or something. One review said sound quality was lost but the person had a problem with his speakers, not a ticking sound while playing back recordings - which is obviously my problem.
I do have a headset that I used to use for Skype. It has a pink and a green jack. I could plug one into the "headphones symbol' port and try recording again with Garageband. At least the jack is the right size. Again, this is just for the purpose of eliminating whether my good mic on a stand with the anti-popping sheild is at fault.
While my Mac does have both inbuilt speakers (I don't need external ones) and an inbuilt microphone, the latter is not of a high enough quality for voice overs, hence buying an external mic etc. But whatever is causing the clicking or ticking is obviously affecting the quality of my recordings. As you can imagine, it is very time-consuming to edit out the ticking spikes and if the noise appears during speech, you can't edit it out at all.
Please keep the suggestions coming. I am determined to get to the bottom of this for my sake and everyone else who is suffering from the same problem!

QUESTION: How do I access my podcasts when voice over is turned on?

    IT IS!
From Chapter 4, page 23 and 24, of the iPod shuffle (3rd Gen) User Guide:
Chapter 4 Listening to Music 23
    Using the Playlist Menu
When VoiceOver is enabled, you can choose from a spoken menu to listen to any
playlist you’ve synced from iTunes to iPod shuffle. If audiobooks and audio podcasts are
synced to iPod shuffle, their titles are also read as part of the playlist menu. If VoiceOver
is disabled in iTunes, you hear an abbreviated menu of playlists in numbered order, but
not by name (for example, “Playlist 1, Playlist 2,” and so on).
The playlist menu announces items in this order:
Â The current playlist (if applicable)
Â “All Songs” (default playlist of all the songs on iPod shuffle)
Â Any remaining playlists in order
Â “Podcasts” (if you choose this, you go to the first podcast in your list; you can
navigate from there to other podcasts)
Â Audiobooks (each audiobook title is a separate playlist announcement)
To choose an item from the playlist menu:
1 Click and hold the Center button on the remote.
2 Continue holding after you hear the current song announcement, until you hear a tone.
3 Release the Center button at the tone. You hear the names of your playlists.
When you’re listening to the playlist menu, you can click the Volume Up (∂) or Volume
Down (D) button to move forward or backward in the playlist menu.
4 When you hear the name of the playlist you want, click the Center button to select it.
You hear a tone, and then the first item in your playlist plays.
To restart a playlist, follow these steps to select the playlist you want.
To exit from the playlist menu:
m Click and hold the Center button on the remote.

  • MAC Voice Over: Why does the screen view lag behind the voice over audio?

    MAC Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
When using voice over on a MAC with DE 1.8 - most times when paging thru a pdf file/book the voice and the view are inconsistent.  When using VO -  moving to the next page with the right arrow key - the audio starts to read the next page (correct), but the display is one page behind (not correct).  For readers - especially those that have significant visual impairment  - this will not work for them.  Is this a defect - and if so - I would be very happy to re-test this feature if a new revision of DE 1.8 is provided.
I am unsure this is the correct forum to raise issues such as this one.  I am in the process of evaluating Adobe DE 1.8 - my sister is blind and I am trying to move her to a MAC with VO.  I really appreciate Adobe's effort in supporting JAWS and MAC VO - thank you on behalf of all disabled folks out there.
Below is a detailed list of steps to re-produce this audio/screen inconsistency issue.
    - Install DE 1.8 and add to the dock
    - Add a pdf file/book to DE 1.8.  For my issue, I am adding the "Voice Over Getting Started" guide.
    - Turn on Voice Over - Cmd+F5
    - Using VO - Go to the dock and select DE and start it.  The "Last Read Book" typically is the focus for the VO cursor.  Then using VO next item (VO+right arrow) - move the VO cursor to "Library Content Table".  This is the list of books that are displayed in DE.
    - Using the up/down keyboard arrows - move up and down thru the books in the content list.  At this point - you should already see that the VO audio announcing the title of a book is not synchronized with the row in the table that is displayed.  The voice is announcing a book that you selected, but the display is showing the previous book.
    - Once you hear (not see) the book you want to test with, hit <enter>.  DE will open the book and start to read using VO.  At this point the screen and audio for the first page in the book are the same.
    - Once the book has been opened by DE - Using the right arrow key navigate to the next page in the pdf/book.  Normally the right arrow key is the short cut to allow a user to move forward or backwards thru a book, one page at a time.
    - With DE and VO - what happens is that VO responds to the right arrow key and starts to read the next page.  But the screen is still showing the previous page.  Hence the screen and the VO audio are out of sync.
    - For anyone that uses MAC VO - this will prevent them from using Adobe DE 1.8.
If I am doing something incorrect - please let me know. If you need any assistance or further information regarding this issue - please email me.
    Best Regards
    Mike R

    hi, Mike R:
Thanks for your information. We have tested several Mac machines, iMac and MBP (use the same version as yours). But we can't reproduce the issue. Actually working with VoiceOver is a fundamental request for our application, we did test them before releasing the build.
We suggest you test other applications, e.g. Finder, Preview and iTunes, to make sure if VoiceOver works fine with them. Or can you please check if your VoiceOver settings are correct?
