Voice Over Navigation Settings

I am having difficulty with the navigation settings in the Voice Over Utility. I would like to use VO to read a newspaper. I can read the heading of each article but not the text. So I want to select the article with my mouse and then let VO take over. I don't seem to be able to find the right combination of choices in the navigation panel of the utility. Could anyone help?
Thanks. Mary

Hi Archie,
I just installed Leopard and see that the VO Utility has changed a bit, but I will wait until I get your advice before I experiment. I would like to use VO to read newspapers online, but I want to be selective and jump around a lot. I am able to see the headings but the content of the articles. So I would like to point to an article using the mouse pointer and cursor and have the reading begin. Then I would like to go to an article on a different page or section of the paper.
In the Tiger VO utility, I was never able to select the right combination in the navigation panel. In Leopard, it appears that I would choose only "Voice Over cursor follows mouse cursor," right? And leave everything else unchecked?
Thanks for your help. . .
Mary

I cant get voice over to turn off completely, only pause with the tapping on the screen when i am in settings, the fields are highlighted, requiring a double tap.  The green button will move to off and then right back on. I have done a hard reboot and a reset. I need to get rid of this highlighting and voice please!!

    Hello ellenp555,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I'd like you to try and turn off the VoiceOver feature using iTunes, that way you can avoid any unecessary extra taps that might be causing the issue.
Connect your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad to your computer and select your device.
    Click the Summary button.
Click Configure Universal Access (below Options).
Select the accessibility features you want to use, and click OK.
    Click Apply.

what did you try and do so we don't offer suggestions of what you already attempted to do.  In the meantime, give this a read and see if it helps: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3577

  • Nano (7th gen) voice over turned off but NOT

I have done 3 things to turn-off Voice Over:
    1)  Settings>General>Accessibility>VoiceOver
    2)  Settings>Reset Settings
    3)  Itunes>Owner's Ipod>Summary>Configure Universal Access
It is not like VoiceOver is turned on for either #1 or #3, so it is a mystery to me why it is turned on.
In fact, it is almost like sometimes it is on and sometimes it is off, but it is on when I don't want it to be.
It happens when I am watching videos (playlist) and not only does VoiceOver turn on but sometimes the
videos just go haywire and go fast forward, reset back to 1st video on playlist even though I want to watch 5th video.
Usually this happens maybe in conjunction with holding onto the Ipod, so I don't know if I am touching something
on the Ipod that is setting it off.
I think it just sounds like I have it exchange...
I even tried to find if there was a Voice Over Kit installed on my computer so I could uninstall it, but I couldn't find it...

I have the same problem. For me it seems to happen because of my headphones causing the voice memo app to appear, even though they don't have a microphone. I only get the weird voice over, pausing, skipping etc. when the voice memo app is visible on the home screen. My earphones don't cause this problem but headphones do, neither have a microphone. Voice memo does not always appear when i plug in my headphones, but when i pause it for a while and come back, it's there. Must be a bug in the software, if only apple cared to fix it. I guess there's still no solution?

Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see:

After updating my iphone 4 last, my triple click to voice over stopped working. I have checked all settings and it just isn't working anymore. Is this an issue with the latest update? Any way to fix this?

    Try resetting your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.
Then, recheck your Settings: Settings>General>Accessibility>Triple-click Home...

  • How to change other Voice Over settings?

I have a MacBook Pro retina (13 inch) and im getting REALLY irritated with my Voice Over settings. I want the thing to say the number name for nubers and not each individual digit. It says "one" and "zero" instead of "ten"!! How in the world do you even change these settings anyway? I couldn't really find anything much, maybe because im kind of new to mac...
Please help me out here guys!
    Thanks,
    Rohan

That's just the way that the computer is going to 'read' numbers - kind of like when you call one of those bank recordings: you read the individual digits of your account number, not "ten-twenty," but rather 1-0-2-0.
No way to change it... unless you just have the number "ten" spelled out as such.

  • Voice Over ... Help lock settings icon

is there an app or a way to protect the settings like have a passcode ...my son has been turning on the voice over. thanks!!!

There is no way to pascode lock the settings app or any of the other built in apps. you can enable some restrictions on the iPad - Safari, YouTube, FaceTime and you can restrict some content, but you can't passcode lock the apps.

  • Channel Strip Settings For Voice Over

Might have screwed something up, or forgot. I record voice overs onlyon Logic Pro. Do I set both channel strips to the left with one circle or the interlocking circles. Or do I set one circle on one and the double circles on the other? I record in mono. I notice when I use the interlocking circles there are two circles near the top. When I use only circle the larger circle near the top disappears. Confused. Just need to know what is the correct settings for VOs. I thank you for your help

If you record in mono, all you need is the single circle. Mono track. Not L, not R, just mono.

A few people have reported problems with the hand gestures since IOS 8. It's not normal, I have don't have the problem on my iPad 4.  I doubt it's a major problem but if it happens regularly I'd have it checked out by the Genius bar at the Apple Store.
