Voice Over won't switch off on my iphone 4

I'm getting a bit annoyed with it now, the **** thing won't stop talking to me, I can't scroll down anything, I've tried triple clicking on the round button but it's not stopping the voice over. Help please? Thank you

I am having the exact same problem. If when the phone is powered off, the flash light stays on. I did a hard reset, and the problem persists.

  • Voice over won't turn off

My iPod nano 6th gen voice over appears to be turned off everywhere I look, yet I still get the screen text read to me intermittently as new songs begin playing. My headphones do have a mic and I'm wondering if that is somehow triggering the voice over to go on. It's very annoying. Anyone else have this issue?

Hey, sid_licious: I, too, have suffered through the maddening torture of The VoiceOver.  Especially maddening is its' apparent randomness in bringing itself to life.  I've wondered if, for example, the movement of my headphone cable jack in the ipod itself could have caused the problem.  I HATE, HATE, HATE the feature: it has no place in my life (or ears) so I looked around the apple website and found these instructions to uninstall VoiceOver completely.  Not sure if this permenant solution is what you're looking for but, I'm going to give it a try later today.  That said, I obviously don't know if it's going to work.  Here it is:
    How to uninstall VoiceOver Kit
By downloading VoiceOver Kit to your computer, your iPod will announce the names of your songs, artists, and playlists. If you no longer wish to use the VoiceOver feature on your iPod and want to remove the VoiceOver Kit from your computer, follow the steps below.
    For Mac OS X:
    Quit iTunes.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder.
Enter /Library/Application Support/iTunes and click Go.
Drag the "iPodVoiceOver.framework" folder to the Trash.
    Open iTunes.
    Sync your iPod to iTunes.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7:
    Quit iTunes.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Under Programs, click Uninstall a program. Alternately, in Classic View of Control Panel, click Programs and Features.
Select VoiceOver Kit and click Uninstall.
After the uninstall is complete, open iTunes.
    Sync your iPod to iTunes.
    For Windows XP:
    Quit iTunes.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Open the Add or Remove Programs control panel.
Select VoiceOver Kit and click Remove.
After the uninstall is complete, open iTunes.
    Sync your iPod to iTunes.
    Good luck!

  • My safari won't switch off - what can i do?

i opened a page which should have allowed me to download a mock TOCFL exam (that's the standardized chinese exam in taiwan), but instead i just got a page of gibberish and since then skype won't let me close it, also while closing tabs there's no longer an x to click, instead i have to right click and then close it that way. anyone know what's going on here? also since safari won't switch off, i have no way of trying to deinstall and then reinstall it...any suggestions?

Select  ▹ Force Quit... from the menu bar, then select Safari and press return. Do the same with Skype.
Run Software Update and install all available updates.
Reinstalling system components is rarely the solution to any problem, and certainly not to this one.

Try a hard reset while connected to power: (adapter, not iTunes on computer): Press and hold both the Home button and Sleep/wake button at the same time for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple Logo appears.
If this doesn't work: try to force restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
NB: the article above will erase all data and content, so make sure you've got a backup
    Good luck

  • Wifi symbol missing plus phone won't switch off

My wifi symbol is missing from my screen, settings say I am connected, checked this by turning cellular data off and I can still access Internet so I must be connected.
Thought by switching off and turning on again might fix the issue but my phone won't switch off.
Can anyone offer any assistance? I'm a bit of a technophobe so need things in laymans terms please.
My iPad and another iPhone are showing as connected to the same wifi network.
    I have an iPhone 5.

    RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

activated voice over and then turned off my ipod, now it wont let me type in my passcode to get back into my ipod. Help?

The screen is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes.  You may have to also place the iPod in recovery mode in ordrer to allow a restore. For recovry mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    For information see:

  • I have a white screen on my iphone 3G since last night.. I tried a holding home and on/off buttons down but it won't switch off - help

I have a white screen on my iphone 3G since last night.. I tried a holding home and on/off buttons down but it won't switch off - help

Apparently, this is caused by a loose connection between the "guts" of the phone and the LCD screen. While it only displays white, the touch screen will still operate correctly - so if you know where to swipe, you can still power it off or unlock the screen, or touch to answer a call or etc.
With my phone, pinching the top right corner near the power button while pushing the home/power button to wake up the phone, seems to tighten the connection enough for it to work. I have not had to maintain the pinch after waking up the phone, but I do have to do it each time I unlock the screen. I have gotten by for about 6 months so far, and hoping the iphone 5's come out soon!!

  • Won't switch off after upgrade

I have upgraded my Macbook Pro to lion - no problems apart from the fact it won't switch off now other than a hard switch off using the power button every time.  Any help wouldbe appreciatted here

Yes, and it is seriously irritating.

  • Won't switch off/on: Rebooting Cycle

The sleep/wake button appears to have stopped working (although can be depressed). The get the iPod to work, one must give it power and then use immediately after unplugging before it goes to sleep. It won't switch off, but after use (and when would normally auto-lock) goes into an apparent rebooting cycle where the screen goes from black (off) to lighting up with Apple logo, and back to black (off) - it will continue in this cycle until the battery dies. Once it is in this cycle, the sleep/wake and home buttons do not function.
    Any ideas?
I've tried holding sleep/wake and home buttons for 10 secs to reset - no change.
I've tried connecting it to the computer and checking for updates - the only one which comes up is an update which requires payment for, and I'm loathed to do this in case the iPod is broken and ends up in the bin! The iPod Touch is only 18 months only.

    2 possibilities:
o Your iPod has a software-based error. Solution: On iTunes, click on the "Restore" button in your iPod's page.
o Your iPod has a physical problem. Solution: Depending on the actual problem, go to an apple store, and they will tell you if they can do anything to it. If they can't, I'm sorry, but your iPod's good for the bin.

My ipad has frozen on me in the middle of watching bbc iplayer and won't switch off either.  Any suggestions.

It does not specifically address this particular issue per se. Rebooting/resetting the iPad is a basic troubleshooting tip that covers a whole multitudes of little issues in iOS devices.

  • My iPod nano won't switch off

I've just bought a nano iPod and for some reason unknown to me it won't switch off. Everytime I hold down the menu button nothing happens, or when something does happen, the apple logo comes on the screen for a few seconds (as it does when you reset the iPod) then it goes back to the 'home' screen on the iPod again. I've tried the '3 R's to sort this out, and since I updated my older iPod as well, that has refused to switch off too. PLEASE help me.

    Everytime I hold

    Hi,
