Voice Overs in Adobe Captivate

I am trying to record two different audio voice overs on two different objects that are both on the same slide on my quiz. Basically, I have a voiceover that reads the question to the user, and then when the user submits there answer another voiceover that tells them they are correct. What i am looking to do is have the first voice over stop when the second voice over begins. Is there anyway of doing this?

Use rollover captions. Have an icon graphic on screen that you tell the user to mouseover in order to hear the instructions.  Place a rollover caption on top of this icon. Add your voiceover that explains the question into the rollover caption (not the rollover area).
The advantage of doing things this way is that the learner can listen to the instructions as many times as they want.  As soon as they mouse off the rollover caption the voiceover will cease.
Then add your Success or Failure audio to the Success or Failure captions for this question.

  • Indian voice accent in Adobe Captivate 6.0 ?

We need to incorporate an Indian Voice accent in Adobe Captivate 6.0 training. We came across a few Indian voices (AT&T Natural Voices and Nuance Real Speak) - can any of these be directly used within Captivate? If not, are there any other which can be used directly? And if no external voice can be incorporated directly within Captivate, is there an external text to speech converter which we can use to export mp3 files and import them in Captivate slide by slide?
    Any help is greatly apprecaited!

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Support.
You can use any external Text to Speech Converter from Neo Speech or Loquendo, once you have .mp3, you can import those file in Adobe Captivate 6.0
    Thanks,

  • Recomendations for Recording Quality Voice Over in Captivate

We have been working with Captivate to create training
materials for about six months and like it a lot. We are using a
lot of voice overs in our trainings. At the moment I'm using a mid
to low range headset to record the voice over. It is a step up from
your cheap VOIP headset but still isn't a high end model. It cost
about 30 euros. The quality is acceptable but could be improved
    upon.
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations about
headsets/microphone recording equipment to optimize the quality
when recording voice in Captivate. Are there also any
recommendations about what sort of software is optimal? Are some
sound cards better than others etc? I've tried to find this info in
the Captivate documentation but haven't found any recommendations.
If anyone could give me your own experience or point me in
the right direction for any Adobe recommendations I'd appreciate
    it.
    Many thanks,
    Aimee

Don't use Captivate 2 or 3 built in audio recorder, it
introduces the degradations you experience. We use Adobe Audition
(now Soundbooth) to record and then simply import to the library.
You could of course use any external recording program, just don't
use the Captivate internal recorder and you will get pristine sound
    everytime.
To rerecord or add more to the recording simply right mouse
click from the library and it will launch Audition. Mono 44.1khz,
700 or better kbps for voice recording will result in an excellent
hiss free, no start or end click sound when you play. You must then
find the recording after you have saved your edit in Audition and
right click to update the new changes. It will update the file in
the library and the slide together.
When saving your recording use a naming convention such as
    module 1,chapter 1,slide1 (M1_C1_S1) that way multiple slide 1
recordings will not confuse you in the library when there are
multiple slide 1's from different chapters.

  • Adobe Captivate 5.5 and Neo Speech: issue to use Paul voice

    Hello,
I have installed succesfully Adobe Captivate 5.5 and then Neo speech Add-on. But unfortunately, when using Speech management function, I can't find Paul and Kate voice. These voices are not proposed in the voice list while the installation has suceeded.
A Kate and Paul directories have been install under Adobe Captivate 5.5 but I don't know why these voices seems to be not installed.
My PC uses Windows XP, default language = french. Adobe Captivate has been installed in English.
    Thanks for your support,
    Odile

    Hi,
First I have installed Adobe Captivate 5.5.
Then I have installed Neo spech.
I have restarted my PC, then launch Captivate: Paul and Kate voices are not present in Speech Manager. And I have no special error message, only voices missing.
After that I have installed Loquendo speechs.
Launch again Captivate and see that Loquendo voices are pesent in Speech Manager.
Now I will show you Neo Speech install report, installation done after an Captivate application stop:
The installation has succeeded in the good directory.
When installing Loquendo the report is not really the same, it seems that some additional execution are done:
Following other discussions on the forum, I have looked at my Windows Control Panel Voice and see that 3 voices are proposed. I assume that these are Windows voice. I didn't find Stefan, Simon, Kate or Paul voices and I'm not ablle to add or configure something.
If someone has an idea of the issue

  • My new voice-over software won't read Adobe PDF files

I am using Adobe Reader X 10.1.10 and the Latest Voice Over software on my new Mac Mini!  I use Voice-Voice-over software to help me read faster and the earlier adobe and voice-voice-over software worked great.  The voice-over software is working with every software program I have except Adobe Reader.  Help, please!

Sounds like something you should ask the makers of that software...

  • Captivate 7 and adding Closed Captioning to my training *No Video just Voice Overs*

    Afternoon Adobe Community,
I want to pose a question to all you experts out there on an easy way to display text from the slide notes as a form of closed captioning for my Voice Overs... I am aware that with video it has the functionality to add closed captioning but was hoping for a viable option to do this for pre-recorded audio that I have the transcript in the slide notes.
This may not be possible but figured I would give it a shot.
    Thanks!

    Hi there,
To convert Slide notes as closed captions, Please check the 'Audio CC' checkbox present in the slide notes panel (Audio should be present in the slide )
This will convert all the marked Slide notes as closed captions automatically. You can synch the converted closed captions with audio from the Edit>Audio>Closed captions dialog.
    Thanks,
    Nimmy Sukumaran.

  • Voice over cut-offs on Captivate 5.5

Has anyone else had problems with voice overs cutting off in Captivate 5.5? I have kept most projects as small as possible, but even so am getting cut-offs between 2 -5 times within one project (I am recording audio to slides and leaving a gap at the beginning and end on the timeline)

    Hi Emily,
You can record audio to 3 slides in different ways.
    Option1 :
You can record audio individually on all the three slides by invoking the Slide audio dialog for every slide.
    1. On every slide you wish to record audio invoke the slide audio dialog ( from Audio >> Record to >> Slide ) and record for the single slide. Saving the recorded audio will add it to the slide you recorded.
    2. You can follow step 1 for all the three slides you wish to record.
    Option 2:
You can record audio to all the three slides continuously in one go. You can do this in the SLIDES audio dialog
For ex if you want to record audio for slides 1,2 and 3, then select slide 1 and invoke the slides audio dialog from Audio >> Record to >> Slides
You get a "Record from Slide" dialog. Enter the Slide numbers for which you wish to record audio and click ok.
This will open the slides audio dialog.
Slides audio dialog shows up the slides selected in the "Record from slide" dialog. Enable "Continuous play" and "SWF Preview" and Click on the recording button. This will record audio over the three slides as you narrate. Audio will be added to all the three slides. You can see the Movie (SWF) preview or the Slide number mentioned in the top right of the preview pane to know the slide number you are recording to.
If some portions of the audio spills over the next slide then you can arrange the markers in the EDIT tab. Here you can play the audio and pause at the point where you want your next slide to start and click on the button highlighted by Lilybiri. Its called the "Start Next slide here" button.
After all the recording is done click on SAVE to add audio to all the three slides.
Try out these and let me know if it works.

  • Powerpoint custom animations to adobe captivate 5.5

I have Adobe captivate 5.5 on my Mac. I started a captivate presentation from a Powerpoint slide show (2008) in which there were some custom animations on the slides. I requested that the slides auto advance during the import and did not link the presentation.
When I run the show in captivate the custom animations pause and I have to click each time to advance through the animations. Then the slide show continues in automatic mode.
Is there any way to control this or do I have to pull apart the slides in ppt to be able to voice over the slides at the appropriate time and have them auto advance?
Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi there
The first thing you will need to do is to publish your Captivate projects as a video format. This means F4V or FLV. You then upload the resulting file to YouTube. However, please note that if you take this approach, you lose any ability for interactivity, such as clicking links to open other resources, simulating an application or quizzing your viewer.

  • MAC Voice Over: Why does the screen view lag behind the voice over audio?

    MAC Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
When using voice over on a MAC with DE 1.8 - most times when paging thru a pdf file/book the voice and the view are inconsistent.  When using VO -  moving to the next page with the right arrow key - the audio starts to read the next page (correct), but the display is one page behind (not correct).  For readers - especially those that have significant visual impairment  - this will not work for them.  Is this a defect - and if so - I would be very happy to re-test this feature if a new revision of DE 1.8 is provided.
I am unsure this is the correct forum to raise issues such as this one.  I am in the process of evaluating Adobe DE 1.8 - my sister is blind and I am trying to move her to a MAC with VO.  I really appreciate Adobe's effort in supporting JAWS and MAC VO - thank you on behalf of all disabled folks out there.
Below is a detailed list of steps to re-produce this audio/screen inconsistency issue.
    - Install DE 1.8 and add to the dock
    - Add a pdf file/book to DE 1.8.  For my issue, I am adding the "Voice Over Getting Started" guide.
    - Turn on Voice Over - Cmd+F5
    - Using VO - Go to the dock and select DE and start it.  The "Last Read Book" typically is the focus for the VO cursor.  Then using VO next item (VO+right arrow) - move the VO cursor to "Library Content Table".  This is the list of books that are displayed in DE.
    - Using the up/down keyboard arrows - move up and down thru the books in the content list.  At this point - you should already see that the VO audio announcing the title of a book is not synchronized with the row in the table that is displayed.  The voice is announcing a book that you selected, but the display is showing the previous book.
    - Once you hear (not see) the book you want to test with, hit <enter>.  DE will open the book and start to read using VO.  At this point the screen and audio for the first page in the book are the same.
    - Once the book has been opened by DE - Using the right arrow key navigate to the next page in the pdf/book.  Normally the right arrow key is the short cut to allow a user to move forward or backwards thru a book, one page at a time.
    - With DE and VO - what happens is that VO responds to the right arrow key and starts to read the next page.  But the screen is still showing the previous page.  Hence the screen and the VO audio are out of sync.
    - For anyone that uses MAC VO - this will prevent them from using Adobe DE 1.8.
If I am doing something incorrect - please let me know. If you need any assistance or further information regarding this issue - please email me.
    Best Regards
    Mike R

    hi, Mike R:
Thanks for your information. We have tested several Mac machines, iMac and MBP (use the same version as yours). But we can't reproduce the issue. Actually working with VoiceOver is a fundamental request for our application, we did test them before releasing the build.
We suggest you test other applications, e.g. Finder, Preview and iTunes, to make sure if VoiceOver works fine with them. Or can you please check if your VoiceOver settings are correct?
