Voice solution for 2 directly connected LANs

hi,
we have 2 offices connected using microwave link p2p(using cisco routers at both ends). And we are about to deploy voice solution that will enable staff at both offices to make calls between the 2 offices using softphone technology. i need someone who have deployed this kind of solution before or have an idea of what it takes to help me with the tips of how to go about it.i wouldnt mind if diagram is attached.
thanks

You can download CME 4.0 by downloading the right IOS image. (I am not sure of licensing, if you do this).
The IOS version for CME 4.0 that I have seen is 12.4(9)T, although later versions may have for example CME 4.01 (??)
For configuring CIPC,
ephone 10
description CIPC softphone
mac-address 0000.0000.7A6A
type CIPC
button 1:5
(Obviously, you have to define ephone-dn 5)
Hope this helps.

If they are on the same LAN, registered to the same CCM, the only thing you need to do is to configure the Cisco routers correctly for voice. RSVP works well now (not in the past) Setup some voice prirotization and you should be set. Usually the microwave boxes have low ms roundtrip times, do you should be ok for voice quality.

  • Cheaper solution for a 5508 wireless lan based

Hello, our wireless lan is based on a single 5508 (It's not HA). We would like to use a cheaper solution as a backup if this 5508 falls. Could 2504 works?
In short words, we have two RAP's that are connected in a hp switch and all ap's are connected to these rap's. Same for wlc, it's connected to switch

Have you checked Radio Shack? The staff are pretty knowledgeable about what you need to connect MBPs to TVs. Their cables are way less than $300.

  • A Solution for freeze at Connect to iTunes & iPhone not being recognized:-)

Had a nightmare last night whilst updating my 3GS to IOS 4 on a vista PC, really thought I'd broken my phone, which refused to talk to iTunes or reboot. It just constantly displayed a USB plug with Connect to iTunes, Here's how I finally resolved it.
    DFU MODE:
    Step-by-Step
    1. Turn the iPhone ON
    2. CONNECT it to the computer with a DIRECT USB connection.
    3. Make sure iTunes is open so you'll know when it enters DFU mode.
    4. HOLD the Power/Sleep-Wake button AND the Home button for 10 seconds.
    5. RELEASE only the Power/Sleep-Wake button and continue to hold the Home button.
    6. WAIT until iTunes recognizes the phone in DFU Restore mode (in Windows a bubble pops up saying it recognized new hardware "DFU Mode" or something to that effect)
The last step may take SOME TIME, 60 seconds or so.
The screen should be OFF (black), if you see the "Connect to iTunes" logo, START OVER.
It may take a few attempts to do the steps just right but it worked for me.
Failing that completely and I mean completely remove itunes and re-install then carry out the above. Details on how to completely remove iTunes here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Took a while but all's well now

P.S I didn't lose any iPhone content but had to restore my phone then update from iTunes which even after you have completely uninstalled and reinstalled it should find all your music etc again.

Have you attempted to connect iPhone to other USB Ports on your Mac?
Make sure you are not connecting the iPhone via a USB Hub, Mac keyboard, or using a USB extension cable.

  • Found a NEW solution for "isn't connected&qu

    Hi guys, first time poster.
So I was having troubles with my ZenV not connecting to the media organizer. Was getting the ever-so-popular "ZenV not connected." So I come here, look through the hundreds of posts trying to find out why it isn't connecting or being recognized by the ZenV media explorer. Spent at least 8 hours rolling back Windows media player, tweaking registries, uninstalling and reinstalling, all to no avail.
So, right before I throw my ZenV through the wall, I tell my girlfriend (who happened to give me the ZenV for Christmas). She tells me to leave the ZenV home today instead of bringing it to work, so she can try to figure out what's wrong.
I come home today, and she has this triumphant smirk on her face as if she has found the cure for cancer. She figured out a VERY simple and easy way to fix the problem!
All she did was do a system restore. That's it! She restored back to December st, just to make sure that I wouldn't have any problems, since it worked fine Christmas day. All I did was reinstall ZenV media explorer and VOILA, I added like 40 more songs to my ever growing list of musical joy!
So basically, all you do is:
Go to your START button on the windows toolbar, and go to RUN.
Type in "msconfig" and there will be an option to do the system restore. It also gives you the option to restore back to any date you want.
And that's it! I'm pretty sure some people will not want to do a system restore, but we had nothing to lose since our computer is mainly for entertainment purposes. However, for most people, I really think this might work for you as well.
I really think what messed up my ZenV in the first place was doing a registry sweep. After my girlfreind did a registry sweep, I was not able to connect to the ZenV Media Explorer. This might be a heads up for you guys in the future.
    Anyways, I hope this helps!!!

  • My solution for ipod wont connect to wifi

my ipod touch wouldnt connect, took back to store received new one ,still wouldnt, went to apple store it connected to apple wifi, called router mfg up,i had to go into settins an change the channel it was using i was on channel 10 was advised to either us channel 6 or 11,i hav muliply devices using home wifi, they all worked except my ipod,i was told problem was probably some kind of interference ,everything working fine now,try this hope it works for you too

do this http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398. if for some reason it does not work try another connection. if the other connection is fine nothing is wrong with ipod (it is the router) but if your ipod does not connect to any wifi then you have to try restore as new (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414) but dont forgot to backup (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766). if your ipod still cant connect to ANY wifi then you need a repair and contact apple or an repair shop.

  • One Solution for Fixing Slow Wireless Connection

Quick and easy solution for slow wireless connection.
My hardwired PC connection was working fine over FIOS, but my wireless connection through my Macbook Pro was soooo slowwww, although the machine itself was fine. Pages would take forever to appear, then finally sort of pop up. Didn't really seem to be a Mac problem, just a connection problem.
After searching forever to find a fix, I found a quick & easy solution that works at least for now: change your DNS address.
I'm not a techie so I don't know ALL of the implications of doing this, but in desperation, it has worked for me and I think at no risk to your network or machine. Changing my DNS address has made my connection blazing fast and relieved many weeks of frustration.
HOW: I can only share how to change on a Mac. (Please chime in if you can give directions for PC. ) Just go to this Apple support page, which will outline exactly how to do it. I used 4.2.2.2, I think you can also use 4.2.2.1 as the DNS address. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2002
    Other resources I've found follow:
    (specific to FIOS):  http://www.stationstops.com/2008/04/16/high-speed-internet-3-tips-to-optimize-your-verizon-fios-broa...
    (Specific for Mac): http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=358919
Maybe this is a commonly-known fix but it wasn't for me, so hopefully it will help some of the other less-than-technical people out there. Good luck!

Actually this is a common problem with Mac OSX (http://rubyisbeautiful.com/2008/2/8/osx-dns-fix-update) and how it does DNS lookups and pertains to routers that provide the internal gateway (i.e. 192.168.1.1) as the DNS address which is what the ActionTec does by default.
You can change that at the router level to either push out Verizon's dns that the router then uses or any other open dns server.  I had to do this a long time ago for some of the OS X boxes on my network.

  • Traceroute issue- MPLS VPN on directly connected interfaces

I have 2 Catalyst 6509 Switches that Im trying to bring up and MPLS VPN connection between.  The loopbacks can ping each other, as well as the directly connected interfaces (the interfaces travel through 2 switches, but no routing etc in between).  An OSPF neighbor relationship DOES come up, and the routing tables appear normal.  However, the MPLS VPN does NOT come up.
After further review, I found that the routing tables are correct on either side for the loopbacks (public addresses X’d out on first 3 octets):
    SWITCH A:
    Bryan-26th-CAT-2#sh ip route 10.255.2.2
    Routing entry for 10.255.2.2/32
Known via "ospf 23532", distance 110, metric 2, type intra area
Last update from X.X.X.70 on Vlan65, 00:10:25 ago
      Routing Descriptor Blocks:
      * X.X.X.70, from 10.255.2.2, 00:10:25 ago, via Vlan65
Route metric is 2, traffic share count is 1
    SWITCH B:
    DAL-COLO-6509-1#sh ip route 10.255.2.3
    Routing entry for 10.255.2.3/32
Known via "ospf 23532", distance 110, metric 2, type intra area
Last update from X.X.X.69 on Vlan65, 02:26:50 ago
      Routing Descriptor Blocks:
      * X.X.X.69, from 10.255.2.3, 02:26:50 ago, via Vlan65
Route metric is 2, traffic share count is 1
This is exactly the same for the directly connected interfaces on VLAN65.  (X.X.X.69 and X.X.X.70).  The ARP cache also shows to be correct:
    SWITCH A:
    Bryan-26th-CAT-2#sh arp
Protocol  Address          Age (min)  Hardware Addr   Type   Interface
    Internet  X.X.X.70           147   0009.b6a4.b800  ARPA   Vlan65
    Internet  X.X.X.69             -   001c.b144.5800  ARPA   Vlan65
    SWITCH B:
    DAL-COLO-6509-1#sh arp
Protocol  Address          Age (min)  Hardware Addr   Type   Interface
    Internet  X.X.X.70             -   0009.b6a4.b800  ARPA   Vlan65
    Internet  X.X.X.69           141   001c.b144.5800  ARPA   Vlan65
And once again, the OSPF Neighbor relationship does come up:
    SWITCH A:
    Bryan-26th-CAT-2# sh ip ospf neigh
Neighbor ID     Pri   State           Dead Time   Address         Interface
    10.255.2.2        1   FULL/BDR        00:00:30    X.X.X.70     Vlan65
    SWITCH B:
    DAL-COLO-6509-1#sh ip ospf neig
Neighbor ID     Pri   State           Dead Time   Address         Interface
    10.255.2.3        1   FULL/DR         00:00:33    X.X.X.69     Vlan65
In the Troubleshooting MPLS VPN manuals- it shows to test trace routes.  All of our other connections like this the trace routes work fine.  In this case though, I cannot trace route not only between the loopback interfaces, but between the DIRECTLY CONNECTED interfaces.  I don’t know what this is.  It should simply be a one hop trace route.  I believe this is what is keeping the MPLS VPN from coming up.  Any ideas?  Here are the relevant OSPF configs and interface configs as well:
    SWITCH A:
    interface Vlan65
     description Connection to DAL-COLO-6509-2
     mtu 1580

    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Greg,
Can you explain more about your issue?. When you say MPLS VPN is not coming up, do you mean the ping (or traffic) from CE connected to one 6509 is not traversing the MPLS cloud to otehr CE connected to remote 6509?.
Do you have VRF enabled with respective RT import/export?. Do you have MP-BGP with VPNv4 AF enabled?.
To confirm if basic MPLS is working fine, Can you check if you have LDP neighborship up and running?. Use "show mpls ldp neighbor" to see the session.
Also do a "ping mpls ipv4 <remote-loopback> <mask>" and see if it works?.

I can't follow your meaning. What does connect directly to your ISP mean?
Did you mean turning off WiFi but turning on Cellular Data on your iPhone?

    hi  Maximilian Schojohann..
First i would like to Thank you for showing  interest in solving my issue...After some research i found that desabling the " IP CEF" will solve the issue...when i desable i was able to communicate success fully with the router lan..But when i desable " IP CEF "  Router cpu processer goes to 99% and hangs...
In the output of " sh process cpu" it shows 65% of utilization from "IP INPUT"
so plz give me an alternate solution ....thanks in advance....

  • I have a time capsule connected directly to fiber connection. I have connected a windows server directly to TC and configured it for remote desktop connection. From my interanet I can access srvr but not from my home. What config I need on TC?

I have a time capsule directly connected to fibre optic point out. All pcs and macs are connected wirelessly to the internet. I have connected a windows server pc to TC. When configured for Remote desktop connection, I can access windows server from within interanet but don't know how to access it from internet. I guess I need to change some settings in TC to get some ip adress for the remote desktop connection from my home. Anyone who can help me out? Appreciate it.

I am a little lost now.. I have read again your title and your first post.. and they seem inconsistent.
    In the title you state.
From my interanet I can access srvr but not from my home.
Interanet is not a word I know.. I assumed intranet...are you talking about internet or intranet? And just to be clear say WAN or LAN.. !! Is your home part of the interanet??
In the first post you state,
I can access windows server from within interanet but don't know how to access it from internet.
Now this is more normal.. the issue is not in the home at all, it is accessible from there but fails from internet. If this is correct, then you can do a few obvious things to determine where the problem is.
But first I need to know are you actually testing from a different internet connection to your home lan.. you are not just trying the public IP from inside the LAN as that will fail due to the TC not doing NAT Loopback.
I am also assuming the TC is the only router in the network, and has the public IP on the WAN interface.
And I am also assuming you have turned on the ping responder and you can actually ping your public ip from the internet and get a response. This helps no end in figuring out where there are issues. Strange but I have no idea if there is a ping responder in the TC WAN so you might need to forward that as well. Also if you have a dynamic public ip address are you using dyndns or no-ip or some other service to connect.
    1. Test bypassing the TC.. plug the internet connection straight into the windows server,, and test if you have access. If yes, the TC is the problem.. if not, your setup on the windows server is wrong.. look at firewall in particular.
    2. Assuming from test 1 the TC is the problem, Post the screen shots of the port forwarding setup for us to look at.. that is by far the easiest way to check it out.
There are lots of references to port forwarding in the TC.. eg
    http://must-know-mac.blogspot.com/2008/07/how-to-port-forward-time-capsule.html
The things that generally go wrong are firewall on the computer that is accepting the port.
The ISP doesn't allow connections on a particular port. (not likely in your case)
The router is behind another router.. double NAT will kill any port forward.
Upnp has already allocated a port.. not an issue as TC doesn't use upnp although a reboot of everything after you set port forwards is well worth it.. amazing how things don't stick properly without a reboot.
IP on the receiving device is not static and so changes.
Not enough or right type of ports are opened. This is always messier than it looks as one port is often not enough for two way communications.

  • Solution for 0x80070035 Error When Connecting to Non-Windows Shares

    My situation:
Using Windows 7 64-bit OS I needed to connect to two Haas mills.  Both Haas machines have internal hard drives that have been shared and made available to the network.  Using Windows XP we were able to map drives or create shortcuts that pointed
to these shares.  When we tried connecting to the shares with Windows 7 we received the error "Windows cannot access \\servername\sharename." Looking at the details of the error I found the error number 0x80070035.
The solution was found in another forum:
"On your “file server,” what is the underlying OS?  If it is a Linux based OS that uses Samba or CIFS to share out to Windows clients, you may need to adjust your NTLM authentication properties.
At the Start menu search dialog box, type secpol.msc.  Navigate to Local Policies >> Security Options.
Go down to Network security: LAN Manager authentication level and first read the Explain tab.
Then go ahead and change the authentication level to Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.
If this fails to work, make sure you set your authentication properties back to the default level."
Once I made the registry change, the shared areas were accessible.

    Hi,
This could be an issue if the security software is interfering with the connection.
You may temporarily try to disable the security software and check what happens.
Also change the Windows Firewall settings and check if that is causing the issue.
The error code 0x80070035 indicates that the network path is not found.
This behavior occurs if the NetBIOS over TCP IP is not enabled in Windows Vista. Please follow the steps below.
1.Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
2.Right click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click "Properties".
3.Click Continue button to verify the administrator permission.
4.Click to select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and then click "Properties".
5.Click "Advanced" button in the open window.
On the "WINS" tab, click to select "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP", and then click "OK" to save the setting.
    Thanks.
