  • Voice solution for 2 directly connected LANs

    hi,
we have 2 offices connected using microwave link p2p(using cisco routers at both ends). And we are about to deploy voice solution that will enable staff at both offices to make calls between the 2 offices using softphone technology. i need someone who have deployed this kind of solution before or have an idea of what it takes to help me with the tips of how to go about it.i wouldnt mind if diagram is attached.
    thanks

You can download CME 4.0 by downloading the right IOS image. (I am not sure of licensing, if you do this).
The IOS version for CME 4.0 that I have seen is 12.4(9)T, although later versions may have for example CME 4.01 (??)
    For configuring CIPC,
    ephone 10
    description CIPC softphone
    mac-address 0000.0000.7A6A
    type CIPC
    button 1:5
(Obviously, you have to define ephone-dn 5)
    Hope this helps.

  • Hosted Voice Solution

    Hi Guys,
Any one of you have worked on hosted voice solution? Can you please let me know what kind of hosted solution is available and it positive and negetive aspect?

Cisco's formal HCS offering, supplied by approved partners*, is the only official one these days. There used to be partners offering other options where multiple customers would co-exist on one CUCM cluster but the CSS/partitions would keep them separated. To my knowledge, these are all deprecated since the HCS announcement. Of course, there are non-Cisco offerings out there too.
The HCS offering is actually pretty decent, mostly because it's the same CUCM/CUC/IM&P/etc. products that customers can install on-premise. There are essentially two differences:
The required infrastructure to setup an HCS pod is prohibitively expensive for anyone except the big players. It's mostly carrier-grade equipment that an end customer would never buy.
The products are abstracted behind a provisioning/billing application (telecom parlance calls this Operations Support System or OSS). Last I checked this was Voss product that Cisco was OEMing. This is the only difference that really matters to you because it sets up the dial plan and such with some assumptions that you wouldn't otherwise be confined to if programming CUCM directly.
Editorial comment: Whether this is good or bad depends on the customer. CUCM is very flexible because it has such a huge install base across so many market sizes/verticals. It can be shaped to fit most custom requirements; however, the OSS toolset takes a far more cookie-cutter approach.
Other than the OSS toolset, it's essentially a normal Cisco UC deployment: they simply connect the VRF instance for you as a tenant in HCS into your WAN. After that it's effectively a Centralized Call Processing model. Normal voice gateway/SRST options at the offices and IP phones or Jabber for users.
*Full disclosure: my employer is one of those partners.

  • Voice solution between 2 directly connected LAN

If they are on the same LAN, registered to the same CCM, the only thing you need to do is to configure the Cisco routers correctly for voice. RSVP works well now (not in the past) Setup some voice prirotization and you should be set. Usually the microwave boxes have low ms roundtrip times, do you should be ok for voice quality.

  • Cisco VS 3com in voice solution

what is the main difference between 3com and Cisco in ip telephony solution?

Tell us more about your network, goals, and requirements. How many phones? How many sites? How many voice mail boxes will you need? Do you have a separate voice mail system already that you'd like to keep?
What sort of connections to your voice provider do you require, e.g. PRI, analog trunks, etc.? Do you need to connect to PBXs from other vendors?
What Cisco solution was suggested, CallManager or CallManager Express?
We need more information in order to make an informed recommendation.

    Thanks for your question.
WebEx Social combines the power of social networking, content creation, and real-time communications. Employees can quickly connect with people, communities and information they need to get work done.
The product tour video (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/ps10680/vds_cQuad_prodTour.html) featured at http://www.cisco.com/web/products/quad/index.html gives a really good overview of the product.

  • Voice over Wireless Outdoors?

    Has anyone deployed outdoor VoWiFi?
I am charged with studying the feasability of an outdoor wireless voice solution for a large outdoor courtyard between several buildings.
The layout of the campus would require a mesh network. I would most likely use the new 1532I outdoor access points.
I am of the assumption that the phones would opperate on 2.4 Ghz and the APs would backhaul the data on 5Ghz?
In all likelihood, I could probably get it to work, but how well?
Would a deployment scenario such as this even be advisable to attempt?

    Hey Philip,
VoWLAN  for MESH is not recomeneded by Cisco for the following reasons:
    - Mesh is less stable than the other AP modes like local
    - Mesh will force the clients to use 2.4 GHz (unless for some very rare situations)
    - Voice is not recommended for 2.4 GHz and all Cisco guides asks to use 5 GHz
    - This scenario is not supported by the Cisco TAC
    Cheers,
    Nour

  • Adobe Connect 8 - Recordings

    Hello,
I need help understanding the Universal Voice Solution or a comparable substitute for a situation I am in with adobe connect 8.  I am trying to basically learn how I can sync up an audio recording from a teleconference with a web cast recording from Adobe Connect.  Can you advise on how this might be done?  Below is a link I found on recording meetings.
From a business perspective, I am hosting a conference with my company’s teleconference subscription, while presenting a PowerPoint through adobe connect.  What is the best way to record this event?

The Universal Voice option would probably be the best way to do it. How it works, is you give Connect the information on dialing into your phone bridge and it calls in and is a participant on your phone bridge. It then can record anything it hears.
To set it up star in your My Profile link available at the top right hand side of any page on the server. Then you will need to set up a new audio provider under My Audio Providers, then associate it with your account in the My Audio Profiles. You can then associate the UV set up with a meeting room at the bottom of the Edit Information tool. This walks throuhg the steps of setting up the UV for your account. Not that the admin setup is the same as the My Audio Providers setup, the difference being that only you see the profile in your setup, while everyone can see and use the one setup on the Admin side. http://www.connectusers.com/tutorials/2009/11/uv_admin_setup/

  • IOS gatekeeper Load Balancing?

    To the experts
I have 3662 running IOS 12.3T with GK enabled.
I wonder if I can load balanced outgoing calls via different 02 GKs? (weighted or fair balanced 1-1)
    Call1: MyGK (local zone) --> GK1 (remote zone1)
Call2: MyGK (local zone) --> GK2 (remote zone1, same zone)
    Call3: MyGk (local zone)--> GK1 (remote zone1)
    ... so on ...
I think sequencial and blast does not help here. Also, GK1 and GK2 is not Cisco Based (3rd party GK)
Question: Is there any way for this scenario? DNS round-robin will help if I declare only one remote zone with DNS and I configure my BIND DNS Server to return multiple IP address to MyGk for load balancing?

The Cisco High-Performance Gatekeeper feature introduces new gatekeeper functionality and modifications for facilitating carrier class reliability, security, and performance into Cisco's Voice Network solution portfolio. These H.323 standard-based features have carrier grade reliability and performance characteristics with a robust open application protocol interface to enable development of enhanced applications like voice VPNs and wholesale voice solutions.
The new gatekeeper is characterized by the following:
"Increased support for back end applications.
"Increased performance on a single gatekeeper.
"Alternate gatekeeper support to the gatekeeper. Each alternate gatekeeper, or GK node, shares its local zone information so that the cluster can effectively manage all local zones within the cluster. Each alternate gatekeeper has a unique local zone. Clusters provide a mechanism for distributing call processing seamlessly across a converged IP network infrastructure to support IP telephony, facilitate redundancy, and provide feature transparency and scalability.

  • Standard IDocs for Transfer Order Details

I am integrating SAP WM with an external System. I want to send the Transfer Order details to the external system using Idocs. Please let me know what are the standard IDocs available for Transfer Order and TRM Task.

    Hi,
There's no std idoc for TRM tasks to be send to an external system. I am busy developing one for our business process requires TRM tasks to be send down to a voice solution via bapi and then the confirmation thereof back to SAP via idoc.
