Voiceover with PDF files
Has anyone yet figured out a way to get Voiceover to read PDF files properly? When I open a PDF in preview, it starts reading, but as soon as I use any of the detailed reading commands -- read all, read a sentence etc -- VoiceOver starts chopping off the first letter of every sentence. ANy suggestions?
This issue can be caused by an AVG extension (tavgp) that isn't working properly.

Hello Experts,
I am having trouble with PDF files corrupting the folder in
which they are contained. If this sounds familiar, and you might be
able to help, please see if the following steps give you an idea of
the problem and the fix.
I want to link to PDF files from a web page. The copy,
consisting of several files, was provided by my client as Word
documents, and converted to PDF by me from within Microsoft Word.
I copied the PDF files into their own folder in my site, and
found later, after leaving, then reopening Dreamweaver, that the
folder was corrupted and unreadable. I got a message to run chkdsk.
I tried working around the folder by repeating the process
above in a new file, with the intention of ignoring the corrupted
one. The second folder also became corrupted.
I don't know if chkdsk is a Dreamweaver utility, or a Windows
utility, or if this is a Windows, Acrobat or Dreamweaver problem.
Does anyone know how to run chkdsk?
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas?
Thanks so much in advance for the urgently needed support.
Richardchkdsk used to be a DOS utility, now Windows. Depending on
the OS you have
and whether it's Mac or PC, you can run it several ways.
If XP > Start > Help and Support, type chkdsk in the
search
Other OSs, search for chkdsk.

Adobe Reader does not automatically associate with PDF files in Xp Sp3
I have reinstalled Reader (twice) and it does not automatically associate with PDF files.
How do I fix this problem?
Cheers, JHThe thing is, when I right click a pdf file, and then go to properties, change default program to open with, select browse, I select it in the correct folder, when I click open, it doesnt open and the programs stay blank, so I cant select anything. There is nothing to select. And I have re-installed. But at the end of the install there are no options what file types to associate with. Any way to do it inside Reader?
I have reader 9.2.0. and Win7 up to date. When I'm opening and closing allot of files the whole time, I don't want to do inside reader. Help please? -

Merging word document with pdf file how do you renumber pages?
After merging a word document with pdf file, how do you renumber pages? The pdf has more pages than the word document. I first converted the word document to a pdf, using Acrobat Standard 9.
Hi Petek ,
After you merge the files or combine files ,click on the Page Thumbnails panel on the left hand side.
In the Page Thumbnail panel ,right click and you will get a drop down list .Select the option "Number Pages".
You will see a dialog box with several options .You can renumber the pages from there as per your requirement.

we have a mac laptop and dont have any problems with pdf files but our imac will not open them. any suggestions?
Back up all data.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again. -

I have configured PDF Genrataor in LiveCycle 2.5. I have configured my watchedfolder endpoints.
When I place a folder (which has doc file in it) in the IN folder..I expect the OUT to contain same folder (with pdf file in it), But it does not happen. What I see in in the OUT folder I see a pdf file with the foldername and pdf extension....
Can anyone suggest.......Why do we have to install 2 add ins for something that should be built in? Please add this to the next version or an update to this one even. We should see the full path of a bookmark when we search for it. Show Parent Folder alone isn't enough if you have sub folders, so I installed Go Parent Folder as well in case of sub folders.

Vel ThavasiHello,
Did you check the fulltext log files for more details about the errors. If the filter isn’t working, there should be errors in the error log file.
The following thread is about similar issue, please refer to:

How to resolve Content not allowed in prolog with PDF files
We are using PI 7.1 to read a file and using ASMA get the file name and pass it to a target mapping and call a web service with the file name.
We have a scenario that reads a PDF file as Binary form a folder. Our mapper uses ASMA to get the file name and folder of the
file to map to the target.
Testing in mapper works fine except for the ASMA does not function (known issue).
At runtime we drop a file and it is picked up as expected BUT from SXMB_MONI we see the following:
Runtime exception occurred during application mapping com/sap/xi/tf/_MM_FileNotification_; com.sap.aii.utilxi.misc.api.BaseRuntimeException:Content is not allowed in prolog.
This error does not happen all the time either. When it appears it is typically only the first time a file is mapped and on subsequent retries it processes normally. In dev we have shown that PI seems to get stuck on a few initial files u2013 process properly on the first retry and then at some point has no issues and will process files very fast.
u201CContent not allowed in prologu201D at least from an XML perspective is related to characters appearing before the xml file declaration:
<?xml version="1.0".encoding="UTF-8"?>
If chars appear before this you get this error in Java parsers. This could be related but we do not have control over how PI parsed the file content and puts into XML messages inside the mapper as we do nothing with the file content.
The same file will go through randomly with this exception on multiple drops. Sometimes it gets processed properly and sometime it doesnu2019t u2013 but in dev it u201Calwaysu201D gets processed properly on the automatic retry. It does not seem to matter what PDF we drop in there either.
Our tyoes look something like this:
Source:
DT_FILE - xsd:hexBinary
Target:
FilePath - xsd:String
I have tried with DT_FILE as xsd:base64Binary with the same results...
We use a UDF to get the file name from ASMA as follows:
DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
DynamicConfigurationKey key1 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
DynamicConfigurationKey key2 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","Directory");
String ourSourceFileName = conf.get(key1);
String ourSourceDirName = conf.get(key2);
//conf.put(key1, ourSourceDirName + "/" + ourSourceFileName);
return ourSourceDirName + "
ToProcess
" + ourSourceFileName;

The questio is. What do you want to do with this information?
Here is a sample code written for a specific purpose, you can adapt this to your needs:

Problem with pdf files from ABBYY FineReader 11
I am using htc desire with Android 2.2 with latest update for PDF Viewer.
Recently I scaned book on FineReader 11 with recognition and save it on pdf format with setting to show page pictuire above recognized text. On desktop this file opening normaly, but on PDF Viewer for Android Version 1.00.1045 on my Android device it opening very very slowly and the following pages don't want to open at all. At the same time other pdf files downloaded from Net is opening normaly.
What is the matter of problem, on perfomance (1 Ghz), RAM capacity (512)?
How can I improve pdf files that I can read it on Android? Its imperative to have page picture above (with recognized text above its working very fast).Please try it on Adobe Reader version 10.1.0 , Please note that this forum is for Adobe Reader on android and not for PDF Viewer.

HP Officejet100 Mobile L411a intermittent Bluetooth printing problems with PDF files
Hello,
Our company provides computer-hosted medical devices controlled by an application running on Windows7 computers we supply. We are currently using the HP Officejet 100 as a Bluetooth printer. In some of our customer offices, we experience printing problems using the printer in Bluetooth mode (there are never problems if the printer is connected by a USB cable.)
The printing problems typically affect PDF files printed through Adobe Reader 10, and the symptom is one of the following:
Send a print job to the printer. It doesn't print and eventually the print queue shows an "Error Printing" message. If any print jobs are removed and the printer is power-cycled, the problem goes away for the time being.
2. Same as above but power-cycling does not cure the problem and nothing will print, even a test page.
In either of these cases there are no problems if a USB cable is used.
The PDF files we are trying to print are typically 5 pages with 3 of the pages having a lot of graphics and the remainder being text only.
Has anyone seen this behavior and is there anything we can do about it?
Thanks.I don't anything about this printer, but I do know that bluetooth is really flaky with large files since it's got a crappy transfer rate, could be that the transfer is dropping and freezing the printer up. Does it have encryption turned on?
