Hi,
I have the same issue on my HP Win8 desktop. My voice is disguised as chipmunk to the other party. I can hear everybody fine. I followed the exact instruction and  tried search for the folder named "Skype" through writing %appdata% in the Search /Run box as I've read in the previous post, but it did not find a such folder. I don't have a problem using Skype on my laptop supported by Win 7. Anybody out there knows how to fix this? I reinstalled Skype and still the same.
What is the version of Skype program installed on your computer? In Skype go to Help -> About Skype.

  • Converting cassette to cd using garageband.  Voice on cassette sounds like chipmunk.  Is there a way to fix the speed during recording on garageband, so the voice sounds normal?

Librarian Asst. needs your help!  Trying to preserve WWII veteran's interviews presently on cassette.  However, on one cassette the voices sound like chipmunks (speed too fast during recording).  I know how to transfer the cassette recording onto garageband.  I just don't know how to transfer the recording at a slower speed, so that the voices will sound normal.  Is there a way?  Please help.  Thanks.

You could try two things (sorry, I can only point you to the current settings in GB'11, since I no longer have GB '09) but it should be very similar.
The easiest thing would be, if the vocal transformers do work. You can change the pitch of a voice using a "Vocal Transformer" effect. Click the "Edit" tab in the "Info" panel and click an empty brick to add a filter:
If that does not work, try to change the timing of the track. Enable "Follow Tempo&Pitch". If GB '09 does not have "follow tempo & pitch", record your tape directly into a Real Instrument track in GB to record a purple region.
Use the tempo slider in the LED display to lower the tempo, till the recording does sound more natural.
    Good Luck,

  • Audio output using Logitech Clearchat Pro USB headset sounds like chipmunks

I use a Logitech Clearchat USB headset for online meetings daily. On my previous machine (Black MacBook 2GHz) the headphones and mic worked fine. I just upgraded to a new 2.66 Unibody MacBook Pro and while the microphone works fine but the audio in the headphones sounds like chipmunks. If I switch the audio output to the speakers, the audio sounds fine.
Logitech claims that since the drivers the headphones use are built-in, it's not their issue. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this problem and how I might be able to get it resolved.
    Thanks.

' orangehat I sincerely hope you (we?) get an answer on this one! I ordered exactly the same headset the same time I did my 17-inch MBP. Still waiting for everything to be delivered - so can't say as yet whether I have the problem too. Hoping not.
' Hoping there's an answer to your question anyways so I can get an idea of things before my kit lands (IF that EVER actually HAPPENS!!!)

  • My voice sounds like helium

Hi, everyone. To compensate for my Mac microphone troubles, I hooked up my mic to a wheezing Linux laptop and recorded a WAV of my voice. I imported it to Garage Band, but when I played the track my voice sounded as if I had just inhaled a large quantity of helium. Evidently, while trying to get my microphone to work a few nights ago, I modified some setting which caused this, without knowing I'd done it.
Any ideas as to how I might be able to fix this?

I don't have an answer for your question but I just had to tell you the title made me laugh for an hour. Usually it's me saying my voice sounds like something other than helium! I want you to know, you made my day. Music is awesome!

  • SB Audigy2 ZS PCI+Logitech Headset= Voice sounds like its under water

I tried using my Logitech Headset this evening on my desktop to communicate with my buds over mumble while playing BF3 and no matter how many settings I messed around with in both Win7 x64 or the mumble software my voice was crackled and distorted. Now I know for a fact my headset is not the problem, since I use it daily on my laptop at work to talk to people over Skype & GoToMeeting and I'm crystal clear and I even plugged it back into my lappy afterwards and listened to myself speak, and it was fine. The problem must be with the Sound Card. Is this something to do with the settings or is this a sign my card/drivers are bad?

    Hi,
Disconnect your headset and just plug in a microphone and do a microphone recording. Playback what you have recorded, do you sound like you are underwater? That will narrow down if it's the sound card that's causing the problem. Also try running other games to see if same problem is happening.

  • Make stereo voice sound like analog from 70's movies

Hi, I have a voice over that is recorded in a high quality, normal voice and I would like to make it sound like a voice from 70's movies. Sort of gritty, analog sound. What should I tweak in Soundtrack Pro?
Here are the examples of the sound I'd like to achieve:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K5IEqmrUio
    or
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nP_7ZopT6oM
    or

    Many thanks

If I only had stock STP effects to use, I would attempt this with a combination of EQ, Compression/Limiting, and a tiny bit of Overdrive or distortion.
Use the EQ to roll off the high frequencies a bit, experiment with compression to get the right punch, and very subtle Overdrive to try to imitate the tape grit.
    Have fun!

  • What sound filter to use to make a mans voice sound like he's outside.

Hello, I have several ADR files of people talking. I need to add a filter to make it sound like they are talking outside. Any specific suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try something like this, adjust to taste:
Note that this will drop the volume of the track substantially, you will need to adjust the clip level after you've applied the effects.

  • VO sounds like chipmunks in viewer

When I play a VO in the viewer it sounds like it's sped up big time. When I bring it to the timeline it sounds fine. It's an aiff file. I've tried a couple of different VO's and the all do this. Any reason why?

Maybe you could post a sample for someone to have a look at .... as for the why, the Viewer and Timeline windows treat clips very much differently. The Viewer is playing the clip back according to its source settings whereas the Canvas/Timeline is playing it back according to the sequence settings as applied to that source.

  • Changing voice pitch to sound like chipmunk

I understand one has to go to the timeline view and then it is easier but i cannot seem to find how to do this in IMOVIE 08. I just want to make a video where my voice is really high pitched

The movie sound track behaves slightly different from normal tracks.
For me the following did work:
Silence your movie track by clicking the speaker icon in the track head
Create a new basic  real instruments track.
Copy the regions from the movie track to this new track.
On this new track you can set all filters as you like.
    To set a chipmunk voice:
    select the new track
    open the Inspector (cmd-I)
click the edit-tab, and click a free field to add an effect, select "vocal transformer" and set it to "Chipmunk"
To be able to answer your question why your helium breath sounds "echoy", it would help to know what kind of sound your movie has (music, vocals?) and what kind of real instrument track you used for the audio movie track.

  • Incoming calls sound like chipmunk voice/ outgoing my voice is very deep

I am new to this forum in real need of help.  I guess this occured because my son played with my phone, but now about 90% of the time the incoming calls sound very high pitched (even the ringtone and voicemail messages) and when I answer the phone people think it is someone else (a man).  I have not been able to figure out how to fix it and when I called AT &T they could not help.  I do appreciate any advise on how to fix this without redoing all my settings (if possible).  Thanks in advance!

Another option could be trying to reinstall the device OS. Click here to know how to upgrade device OS.
