VOIP codec VS consumed data on Nokia N8

Hi,
I am using voip calling with my Nokia N8 SIP client. Both Wifi and 3G work well.
Only thing is the data consumed. I did couple test calls and noticed that 1 minute voip call used 605 kB for download and 595 kB for upload.
Then I configured SIP on Fring and measured 70 kB down and 70 kB up for 1 minute call.
That is almost 10 times less!
I'm on a limited 250 MB data plan so would like to get the best possible value out of it.
Nokia SIP client supports following codecs in this priority order:
1. AMR-WB
2. AMR
3. PCMU
4. PCMA
5. iLBC
6. G729
7. CN
Codecs can be deleted and the priority order changed.
My questions are:
1. Which codec is used by Fring?
2. Which codec on Nokia would give me the least data consumption?

You can find some discussion of the different codecs e.g. at http://www.voip-sip.org/voip-codecs/.
AMR is probably the least consuming codec but you must remember that the used codec will be negotiated between the two sides and the codec on the top in your settings doesn't necessarily get selected if the other side doesn't support it or if the priorities differ. Another choice could then be e.g. G.729, it's quite efficient and provides rather good quality, so you could try to place it a bit higher in your list.

to receive the latest data,
If we use the EventHubHost to consume data, can we also to filter data? If yes, how to do?

Yes right,
AFAIK there isn't a filter feature for Event Hub. The only way to have now is to put a specific property inside your EventData that consumer group can check to filter if it is interested in the data or not.

I have a scenario where my client doesn't wish to flow consumers data into R/3 which are created in CRM's B2C shop.He wants to map consumer data with R/3 One time customers so that further process such as Delivery and all take place and this status gets updated in B2C shop via CRM

See my scenario is i have set up the B2C SHOP in CRM not in ECC as and when consumer gets register in B2C SHOP he creates an Order, so standard functionality is that CRM Order needs to flow into R/3 along with consumer data such as (sold_to,ship_to_bill_to---) for further process like delivery and billing.
Now my requirement is client does not wish consumer data should be flown into R/3 for which he wants to map consumer data which is created in CRM to R/3 with One Time customer for delivery, so that when ever consumer gets created in B2C SHOP it should map with the same R/3 One time customers
which means that very time one time customer data should be replaced with consumer data which are created in B2C shop.and delivery should take place
so could you please help me is there any way to resolve my issue

Trouble running "Universal Windows app that consumes data from the Azure Marketplace" sample

I am trying to run the sample titled "Universal Windows app that consumes data from the Azure Marketplace". I am not sure how to enter the credentials for the Zillow APIs. I obtained a key from Zillow, but when I enter it per the instructions
in the sample, I still get an unauthorized (401) error.
The instructions say Insert that key into the SampleDataSource file of your project in place of the string "Your account key goes here".
So I replaced my key in this line of code:

Am I missing something else?

That means that if you use online maps, it will consume data. If you're on WiFi, no worries. If you are on cellular data, then it will eat into your cellular data plan.

Since I did the upgrade to the iOS 5.0 I have noticed a tremendous data usage. Can anyone tell me if I message consumes data?

I'm on a 1GB data monthly plan for my iPhone 4 32GB and I rarely use more than 200MBs. Imagine my surprise when, two days after installing IOS5, my ISP (Telstra Australia) texted me to say 80% of my 1GB plan had been used! So, I immediately upgraded to a 2GB plan and relaxed. Two more days later and another text from my ISP to say 80% of my new 2GB plan had been used. It was then I turned to the Apple forums and discovered that the unaccountable high data usage issue after installing IOS5 was a common one.
My current position is that, 3 more days later, I now await yet another text from my ISP to inform me that I have used 80% of my new 5GB plan (this is getting expensive).
I have taken precautions to reduce data usage. I have turned off Cellular Data and so my smartphone has become rather dumb.
There is something else that worries me. I have always had 'Don't Send' enabled in Settings>General>Diagnostics & Usage. The message there reads 'data will not be sent to Apple.' However, when I checked this out I found that two transmissions had been made on two consecutive days before I turned off the Cellular Data. I checked this out with a work colleague and they too found that their iPhone with IOS5 had been transmitting data despite 'Don't Send' being enabled.
Even stranger now, when I checked my iPhone this morning, the records of those two data transmissions were no longer there; they had been removed but not by me as this is not possible ... Twilight Zone stuff, maybe?
Lastly, the iPhone data counter during all of this zany data usage period has never risen above 500mb and yet when I talked to my ISP they were adamant that I had used copious GBs as recorded by them. I have no reason to doubt my ISP especially as unaccountable high data usage is being reported by thousands more iPhone users even as you read this message. So, is there a hidden program embedded in IOS5 that leaks information from the iPhone to Apple or some other organization without registering on the iPhone meter even? Twilight Zone again?
Interestingly, another friend uses an iPhone 4 16GB and his is unaffected by all this unaccountable high data usage.
More worryingly, Apple seems not to recognise the problem and because of that, there can be no solution other than turning the iPhone off. This is not a satisfactory performance from an expensive piece of technology made and sold by a company that claims to be leading innovation.
I believe Steve Jobs's biographer implied that Steve was the solo driver of Apple ... after he, the wheels shall start to come off ... it has begun.

I have received some emails asking about how to get Nokia E-series working with Gizmo (SIP VoIP) over 3G/WCDMA.. So these are the steps that worked for me..
Steps:
1) first ensure that SIP VoIP is working over your wireless connection, ie following these instructions
2) disconnect from your Gizmo account if connected:
Nokia E51: Menu: Connectivity --> Internet tel. --> Options --> Disconnect from service
Nokia E71: Menu: Communications --> Internet tel. --> Options --> Disconnect from service
..then click "Back" and "Exit" until you get exit all the menus..
3) Find your default access point:
E51/E71: Menu: Tools --> Settings --> Connection --> SIP settings --> GIZMO VoIP (Not registered) --> Default access point
4) change you access point from your wireless network to 3G data connection, eg in my network the access point is called "internet".. then click "Back" and "Exit" until you get exit all the menus..
5) go back to the Gizmo account in Internet telephony:
Nokia E51: Menu: Connectivity --> Internet tel. --> Options --> Connect to service
Nokia E71: Menu: Communications --> Internet tel. --> Options --> Connect to service
6) Select your 3G data access point, it should be having a star and 3G label next to it
Notes:
- My wireless network is a simple configuration, basic ZyXEL ADSL box configured with NAT
- I know my operator doesn't block SIP VoIP traffic, additionally I checked this with a PC based SIP VoIP client
- My Nokia E-series device is not an operator variant. If you have an operator variant these features may be disabled in the firmware

Well I have found out that my 3G provider is not blocking ports. However, I have found that the issue only happens on that particular network, not others ..
I wonder if there are any setting I can change on my phone adapter that can help ..

I have created several external contents using SQL Server databases as datasource. The thing is every time I created one, only consume one table and define operations for that table. I would need to create an external content that can contain the
information of two tables. I tried to export the bdc model and type the query using left joins but nothing happens...I did it in that way for sharepoint 2007 and works!!!
I know if a create a view in the database I can have the data that I want and I can create the external content using the view. But the thing is I don't have access to the database for creating anything, just read it.

Timed structure for output in producer consumer data acquisition

Hello LabVIEW community,
I have a bit of a problem. I am writing a program that is primarily for data aquisition but has a few control features as well. I need the program to aquire and write several channels of data at a relitively high speed. The program does this fine ( in the top 3 loops fo the program). I need the program to also send a seires of two output signals in response to a particular condition. When a certain channel registers a value of above a specified number, I need an output channel to write an anologue signal for 225 seconds and then a signal of a differnt value to the same channel untill the condition occurs again (not for several hours).
I put this action in a timed structure inside of a case structure. The case structure and timed structure are inside of a second consumer loop. I have no idea if this is ligitimate. This event takes much longer than any of the other loops which run at 1 or 2 seconds. When I exicute the program with "highlight exexutuion" this longer (case/ timed ) loop never executes. I asssume this has to do with the mismatch in time scales of this loop and the other loops in the program. I also didn't really understand the help information on timed structures, so its possible that I just need better/ different inputs to the timed stuctures.
If anyone can see any obvious problem in the code or suggest a better way to do the output function I would really appreciate the help. My code is attached.

I can't figure out how to fix your code, but I can point out the things I see wrong with it.
1. You are dequeueing elements from the same queue in the same loop. In one you are not taking the element, and in parallel, you are taking an element. I see that in your bottom two loops. Why? That code won't execute until the queue gets two elements in it. And which dequeue gets it first and which gets it second is an arbitrary race condition. So there is no certainly of order (first 4 vs. last 4 currents in the one loop), or which gets kept and which gets discarded (in the other loop.)
2. You are creating and/or clearing DAQ tasks in every loop iteration. Tasks should be created before a loop, used inside the loop (read or write), then cleared once the loop is done. Anything else is wasteful, time consuming, and could lead you to run out of resources.
3. You are using the STOP function which is pretty much like hitting the abort button on the toolbar. No program should ever stop that way. All loops should exit gracefully.
4. You have a data dependncy between your bottom two loops because of the boolean wire running from one to the other. That bottom loop will only run once (if the value is True), or run forever (if the value is false).
5. Use of the dynamic datatype. You are taking waveforms, converting them to a blue wire, then coercing them into another datatype such as just displaying a scalar in an indicator. A lot of unnecessary conversions there.
6. Your thermometer indicators have a digital display you can make visible. Then you won't need the separate numeric indicator to display the value.
7. For loop that runs only 1 time because of the constant wired to the N terminal. Get rid of the For Loop.
8. Check your spelling. The word "Temperatures" on the graph, and one instance of "distillate" is missing an "l".
Until all of these problems are fixed, it is not worth talking about timing of timed structures. Some of these problems were discussed in your other thread. http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/producer-consumer-missing-channels/m-p/3159757#M911255 But now it seems like you've made things even more complicated without fixing the basic problems.

Packet data for Nokia C3-00

I have the suite and a network adaptor automatically created. Both of that can't access, the c3-00 respond "Subscribe to Packet data first".. But I already have the gprs settings from my network provider.. What should I do?. Please help me.

Can you browse with your phone? If yes, your problem is alrealdy solved. Nokia PC Suite (any version) wont work with S40 phones like C3. You have to download Nokia Ovi Suite for PC. You can google it and download it free. It's about 87.something MB. It works perfectly.

How to consume data model adf library in view project?

I am using Jdev 11.1.1.6.
I have a Jdev workspace containing business component (entity objects, view objects and application module exposing the VOs). This workspace is deployed to an ADF Library. This library is packaged with DB connection details.
I have another Jdev workspace that needs to consume this Data Model ADF Library. This workspace is basically just the view layer (no business components at all).
I have added the Data Model ADF Library to it's view project and it is showing application module and VOs under Data Controls.
My question is : How is this view project going to connect to DB at runtime?
Can it use the connection from packaged Data Model ADF Libabry? If yes, how?
or Do I need to create a business project under this view workspace, just for connection purpose? if yes then what is the use of including connections during ADF Library creation?

Hi,
it will use the connection in the ADF library. I recommend though that you not save database connect information in the ADF library. Instead:
- define the ADF BC model to use JDBC data sources
- In the ADF library, configure it to only contain the data source name
- In the view project (the workspace) configure the database connection exposed by the library
When the library is imported, check Application Resources --> Connections and right click on the imported connection name to configure it

Packet Data settings Nokia N8

Hi,
I have bought Nokia N8 from Vodafone and I use their network as well. I am on contract with them without free internet, therefore any use of internet I will be charged.
I tried to change Packet data sittings to prevent my phone of accessing the internet through internet and WAP access point but I could not because the sittings are protected from modifying or deleting.
Is there any way or program to remove or change these settings? Please help me how I can do that.

Set phone to offline, go to connectivity settings and delete all access points, when the phone asks for a connection reject everything except your wifi connection.I would really be adviseable to get a data allowance as you are missing the vast majority of the functions of the N8 by not using internet connection, it's a very expensive digital camera that can make calls and txt at the moment ! Where do you come from ? In UK VF have cheap 'bolt ons' for PAYG data, and it would really improve your whole expeience !!

What you can do is..
Go to settings>>Data Counter>>
Now select facebook...And scroll down..
Just Check the box...Restrict Background Data..
And its done..
Do it for all app which you dont Use...and save more data..
