Voip in Nokia C7 00

Did Nokia C7-00 support outgoing internet calls?

I’ve just bought C7, but I think it’s the same matter of N8. and I have tried to use Voip with Skype, Fring, Mobilevoip.
All these 3 applications crash down when trying to make calls. Wifi network is correctly configured.
Skype logs in correctly, you can chat and send sms, but not make a phone or Skype call. Latest version was released last december.
Fring logs in correctly, you can chat but not make Fring calls. I have configured the Sip client but nothing to, finally crashes the same. I have recently updated Fring with latest version.
MobileVoip is a specific program for sip calls (eg voipstunt, smsdiscount, justvoip, smartvoip, voipalot, etc). The service is provided from Betamax. It is very simple and smart, there is no need of any configuration, only username and password are needed. It cannot log in, the phone freezes for about one minute, then application crashes.
I have read something about the problem on various forums, and as I can understand voip calls cannot be actually performed on Symbian ^3. I have installed a firmware update after purchase (from 012.004 to 014.002). So all is updated.
All such 3 applications run perfectly on Symbian 5th, I had a 5800XM before, and all is still all ok.
I have not understood if this is a Nokia Symbian ^3 problem, so we have to wait an update patch from Nokia, or if it is a problem concerning each voip application (Skype, Fring, etc.) so we have to wait updates from them.
Can anyone explain me more about this please?
To tell the truth if I knew this problem I would have not bought C7, or at least I would have waited to purchase. Sometimes I travel abroad and these voip services are very useful on Wifi. I have to bring my old 5800 if want to make voip calls, and left my new C7 in a drawer awaiting future updates.
I tried to install Nokia voip frame work (downloaded here: http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Settin... and configuring Sip Voip settings. I successfully used this feature in a N85 two years ago. I put the same parameters, but it seems not to run, there is an error in registration. Maybe parameters are different in Symbian ^3, can anyone help me please? Or is there a site where all parameters are indicated? The latest Pdf userguide is dated 2008, but parameters seem to be the same.
I disappoint all this, it would be a good device.
Besides, just to notice, the maps provided with Ovi Maps are not updated, I have some examples of new crossroads in my city that permit me do deduce that maps are 4 or 5 years old!!! It’s a pity, the platform would be very good.
Another thing: I tried to register a new account at https://email.nokia.com, but you can only log existing users. Really, I cannot found where to register new users. Can anyone help please?
Incredible, c’mon Nokia, what are you doing?? Before you offer some services and features, and then there is an impossibility to use them!!! We are talking about smartphone. What do we buy them for? Obviously to install and use applications. Now I cannot see why I have to renounce to use what I used before in the past. And now I’m loosing a lot of time trying to use these applications and services.
They say that a good service and consumer’s satisfaction is the best advertisement. I think that the opposite is true too.
What’s happening?
If this is not the correct place where to post all these things please tell me where to post.
Thanks a lot in advance

  • VoiP on Nokia E51 - Help Needed Urgently !!!

I am located in Copenhagen Denmark and I use a wireless network to connect to the internet. My Nokia E51 is also able to detect the same network when I scan for WLAN. However when I try to use it to make a net call it says ''NO WLAN COVERAGE FOUND''.
Probably a step by step guidance to configure the following would be useful -
    - Wireless LAN
    - SIP Settings
    - Internet Tel

Thanks to bife71 for the reply. The phone was able to detect the wireless network and I was able to use the Gizmo feature to make calls. The network name I was using was ''Netgear''. But since one month I shifted to a new apartment and there the network name is ''NETWORK'', and when I tried to connect using my E51, the WLAN scan is not able to pick up the wireless network at all. I use the same connection to browse the net and the connection is good. But the phone is not able to detect this connection and I am not able to make calls.

  • VoIP problem Nokia E52

    Hi!
I have a problem trying to setup JustVoIP service on my Nokia E52. I installed the VoIP Settings Manager and set up everything as below:
    Profile Name: justvoip
    Service Profile: IETF
Default Destination: Internet (I am using VoIP via my Home-WLAN)
    Default Access Point:  none
Public Username: sip:[email protected] (Note: “sip:” will always be added automatically)
    Use compression: No
Registration: When needed or always on (choose your preference)
    Use Security: No
Proxy & Registration Server have identical(!) values:
    Server Address: sip:sip.justvoip.com
    Realm: justvoip.com
    User name: YOURJUSTVOIPUSERNAME
    Password: YOURJUSTVOIPPASSWORD
    Allow loose routing: Yes
    Transport type: UDP
    Port: 5060
I see the service but I cannot enable it. Whan I try to activate, the message "Invalid settings" appeares. The most funny thing is, that at the beginnig it worked fine! With the same settings! Anybody know, what is going on here?
    Thank you for your help!

Same issue on E72 and XM 5630 here. Other people experienced it also with N97.
you can read this info in http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=192607
VoIP3.x registers a user, it writes a randomly translated username in the contact URI, i.e. aweofj293j2c0239jdwiofje0@nataddress instead of username@nataddress
Ougoing calls are not an issue (when the client succeeds to register) howevver for incoming calls the server has to put this translatedusername in the request-URI of his INVITE. Some Registars do that, but yours and mine don't.
This interpretation of how SIP should work by Nokia was not implemented in prior versions of Nokia VoIP settings (v 2. and v 1 used on FP1 models such as E61, N95, etc) thus enabling incoming calls to work for all.
Now however it seems this is the new standard Nokia has chosen to go for with all new models thus leaving us with a choice to either :
1- have our service providers patch their registrars to make them work with this new Nokia implementation or
2- use alternative third party VoIP apps for our devices instead of the native/integrated Nokia SIP client. or
3- change SIP service provider to use ones that run Registrars compatible with this new implementation...

  • Nokia 700 belle fp2 voip

I configured Voip on Nokia 700 belle fp2 with the guide from this page. I prefer 3G connection so I set packet data connection over 3G and enabled AWCDMA setting in VoIP service settings. Like in the guide. I can make calls. Sound quality is excellent on booth sides. But I'm not reachable over VOIP. My phone doesn't make any signs when I try to call it. I quadruple check to be sure that every profile entry has been made correctly. I reconfigure settings for wifi connection and trying to establish connection over wifi bat the problem resist. My voip provider doesn't make any restrictions. Is there any explanation or better solution for this problem.

I find this document  from year 2002. I capture the registering data and incoming call data with wireshark. I find out that my voip provider has problem with Call-ID header. While registering they answer with right Call-ID header. When I get incoming call the Call-ID header is not the same. There is no malfunction. The call is dropped with 404 not found.

  • Can I install VOIP or 3rd party softwares in Nok...

I am usnig Voip softwares like Action Voip in Nokia E63.  I like to buy Nokia C3 because it  is very friendly for Social Network and messaging. But I worry about using Voip software and other 3rd party program installation because C3 doesn't have a file manager. Is it support usage of Voip software? How can I install  VOIP or 3rd party softwares  in Nokia C3. Please help me.

To get VoIP on S40, you need to have compatible phone that has built in SIP VoIP support, http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/VoIP_support_in_Nokia_devices#Support_in_Series_40_devices
There does not exists any VoIP Java apps for S40 with which you could get FREE calls.

  • VOIP with N86 only wifi?

I set Voipstunt as Voip service
then I download the program to activate voip from nokia site
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Settin...
I tested at home with wifi and looked to work fine.
Now I'm in office without wifi but i want to use internet service.
But when I try to use Voip the phone says: No avalaible connection (but is connected with 3g)
On Sip Setting now I have  "Stunt" Registered (I do not know the english menu, i'm translating from italian)
When My N81 was "Registered" I could phone from internet
So I go in net setting
    Stunt setting: Internet
then I go in Name list try to call but says no connection
    because want WIFI!
    I'm very sad

You're using a lot of terms (or abbreviations?) like "Wind" "internet.wind" "Inpost.net" "setting.net" etc which I have never heard of before and make it difficult to understand what exactly you're doing and where things might be going wrong.
If I was to suggest one last thing, it would be to set up the SIP client to use the service that includes the 3G provider that you want, and then set the SIP profile to be always active.  That way you would know if the SIP profile can be active over 3G, independent of the VOIP client software. If that works, then you can try the VOIP client.  If the SIP service works, but the VOIP client doesn't work over 3G then you know where the limitation is.
Have you written to Nokia Support to find out if VOIP over 3G is supported with the phone/firmware/VOIP settings software version that you have?  That might clarify things up immediately.
BTW, this forum is not an official support channel, so if you expect that someone from the N86 team is going to answer your question, you may be in for disappointment.  Peer support is the best you can expect.

  • Internet Call From Mobile

i just want to know on which model we can me internet call & how to make internet call?
is that require wifi only or wifi with VOIP?
    Please help me....
    Thank You.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Almost all S60 nokia's can make internet calls when using apps like fring or nimbuzz.  It can be done over wi-fi or over 3G (if your network allows it).
The E series models, and most older FP1 models can directly connect to VoIP servers.  Many newer FP2 and S60v5 models cannot (but can still use apps like fring).
Read more about fring and nimbuzz here (and see compatible phones):

  • Nokia X6 voip support

Hi guys, does anyone know if Nokia X6 can support voip or sip? I have searched in forum and Google but to no avail. Its not clear whether it can support voip. I am looking to buy X6. If it doesn't have voip, I might have to go for Nokia E71 which can support voip. Can anyone confirm whether X6 has voip?
    Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I heard with fring there is a long lag as the traffic is diverted through their server before your voip provider. It doesn't directly connect to your voip provider and it might not use the desired voice codec. There is sip voip setting available for download for S60 v 5.x which is what Nokia X6 using.

Does anyone know if this will work? Although Nokia X6 is not listed in voip supported mobiles. Maybe someone with X6 mobile can shed some light on this?! Much appreciated.

  • 5800 Nokia mobile XpressMusic and SIP for VoIP

    Hello;
Anyone can advise for the needed file to be downloaded for the 5800 Nokia mobile XpressMusic to be supported for SIP so I can place voice over IP calls.

Please search this forum for detailed answers to your questions.  Summary: there is no Nokia VOIP application for the 5800.  You can download Fring and Nimbuzz and connect to your VOIP provider through them.

  • VOIP codec VS consumed data on Nokia N8

    Hi,
I am using voip calling with my Nokia N8 SIP client. Both Wifi and 3G work well.
Only thing is the data consumed. I did couple test calls and noticed that 1 minute voip call used 605 kB for download and 595 kB for upload.
Then I configured SIP on Fring and measured 70 kB down and 70 kB up for 1 minute call.
That is almost 10 times less!
I'm on a limited 250 MB data plan so would like to get the best possible value out of it.
Nokia SIP client supports following codecs in this priority order:
    1. AMR-WB
    2. AMR
    3. PCMU
    4. PCMA
    5. iLBC
    6. G729
    7. CN
Codecs can be deleted and the priority order changed.
    My questions are:
    1. Which codec is used by Fring?
    2. Which codec on Nokia would give me the least data consumption?
    Thanks in advance.

You can find some discussion of the different codecs e.g. at http://www.voip-sip.org/voip-codecs/.
AMR is probably the least consuming codec but you must remember that the used codec will be negotiated between the two sides and the codec on the top in your settings doesn't necessarily get selected if the other side doesn't support it or if the priorities differ. Another choice could then be e.g. G.729, it's quite efficient and provides rather good quality, so you could try to place it a bit higher in your list.

  • Why nokia is not implementing VOIP in Nseries..?

    hi,
i think nseries is a very good option for all mob lovers and users.
but stil nokia is doing the old and tricky marketing.
they anounced only a few phones with camera wit above 3 mp.
and they did nt release any Nseries wit VOIP.
    Whats your opinion....?
nokia should implement business features into atleast some of the Nseries phns.
    like N73, N80 and N95...

AFAIK, Nokia is supporting Gizmo Project. The latest version of S60 devices is available at Nokia Beta Labs (http://www.nokia.com/A4403822).

  • E52 - Nokia SIP VoIP application - help needed

    Hi there,
I am pretty new here.  I need the Nokia SIP VoIP application for my E52, something like SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_S60_3.... .sis
    Where can I get it?
My problem is, that I can set up easily an VoIP service with my phone and it connects perfectly.  However, I can't use it with my E52 since I can't activitate it on my phone.  I would need the option:  > connection > Internet Tel. Settings   which is not there.
I guess I need the Nokia SIP VoIP application, however I can't find a compatible version, and the SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_S60_5_x_v1_0_en.sis does not work.
    Thanx
    Caristeo

Although I've never used it, I was able to install the SIP Settings program for my E73 (same OS and Feature Pack as your phone) from http://www.developer.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Se... .  (You need to make an account if you don't have one already.)  Download the "SIP VOIP 3.x" version.  I do have a Settings -> Connection -> SIP Settings option on my phone, as well as Control Panel -> Net Settings -> Advanced VOIP Settings.  Hope that helps.

  • Nokia 1020 - VOIP options?

I wonder if anybody has done this.
On the 808 I use the built-in SIP function and I use DIDlogic, and it works great (for outgoing calls which is all I want - see separate thread in the 808 section).
The 1020 may or may not have SIP support - I can't find anything clear on google. I found the Linphone app
Generic VOIP sip client finally on WP - Windows Central Forums
which looks OK but it doesn't work on WP 8.1 (it will not save any config, so it is completely useless).
Also, what sort of phonebook integration does one get on the 1020?
My experience of VOIP apps on the 808 is that none of them work really well. Skype was so slow as to be virtually useless, DiscountVOIP wasn't much better (and the SIP provider did not work for some countries in Europe - useless really), and none integrated into the phone. What they did was to import the phonebook at startup (which would take ages) and then everything was duplicated.
Whereas the 808's native SIP integration is perfect, with every phonebook entry acquiring a VOIP option. Does the 1020 have anything like that, where you just set up the username, password, proxy server, reg server, etc, and you get SIP VOIP?

That does not only reset but makes sure all software components are where they should be. Furthermore, please, post your Nokia Product Code (visible in that tool) – perhaps you have a firmware variant which is not the correct one.
