Voip settings disturbing gsm call.

Hello !
I've installed voip settings application on my n85 and set up a sip profile and it's working pretty good.
I activate this profile whenever i need it via the contacts application.
But everytime i'm having a phone call via the gsm network, the phone connects to the internet (arrows below 3G) even if my sip profile is not activated.
It stops doing this if i delete the sip profile.
So what data are being exchanged when i'm having a simple gsm call ?
And is it possible to stop this (other than using fring...)

Conference bridging between VoIP and GSM calls

I tried to connect the GSM call to VOIP call on E72, but it has not happened.
I presume this may be the case, also there may be a solution for this.
VOIP Connection:
For VOIP calls the network uses an existing external IP address to transfer the information from the a server. The information received vide VOIP shall be transformed into voice which enables us to here the data conveyed by the server.
GSM Connection:
For GSM calls the network uses the intermediate service provider slot to convey the information as a signal throught the network. The signals are the direct output we hear as sound.
By my observation, in my mobile, the two network actions (VOIP and GSM) can be performed instantaneously or simultaneously.
The mobile needs a medium to convert either the GSM output signal (audio) to Internet packet data (bytes) and the VOIP software installed in mobile should recognize the same audio as an input and allow for a conference call.

I have Nokia E52 with firmware 091.003, with installed VoIP advanced settings 3.x version 2.0.
My problem is that I have unavailable Profile settings in VoIP services menu ( with SIP profile defined)
to set WMCMDA(?) ON to use 3G.
Factory reset of settings neither reflashing of FW by Nokia OVI suite did not help.
My previous E52 ( stolen from me ) with FW 07x.nnn or older had it available......
Do anybody know, or has clue, about the reason and solution ?
I use Nimbuzz 3rd party VoIP, that works great on wifi/ 3g and even Edge,
but for some reasons is cancelling voice after 65 s of the call....

BTW, I would not believe how deletion of extra VoIP service can ruin Nokia Connection destination/target (?) groups, so Nokia is not easily able to access internet.
E.g. Opera mini, instead of list of variable APs starts t offer just

Jabber and Gsm Call status

Is it possible to automatically update presence status to busy in jabber mobile when the user is attending a gsm call?
I've been testing with jabber for iPhone and it doesn't work...

Has anyone experienced on and off augmented background noise disturbances during calls?

ever since I bought my iPhone 5 I've experienced background disturbances during calls which sometimes gets too disturbing that I have to pull my ear away from the phone. i've noticed these noises normally comes on and off and mostly when im in areas which has loud noises. for eg. in my car (i'd be able to hear my car engine in the backgroud when talking to someone) or in a mall (i'll be able to hear noises of people talking in the mall). so im wondering is this a device problem or carrier related problem? and has anyone had this problem before? what should I do to fix this problem?

Tried both approaches with no success. However, yesterday out of the blue I heard a strange electrical shorting noise from the iPhone, and the volume appears to be back to normal and the vibrate mode is working again (for how long who knows). Strangeness...

SIP VoIP Settings energy consumption under 3G Vs W...

Hi everybody.
I'm suffering big pain with "SIP VoIP Settings" (SIP_VoIP_3_x_Settings_v2_0_en) because eats my E52 battery in a while (few hours).
The fact:
E52-1: 054.003.280.1 RM-469
Stand by mode under my 3G: 20 mWatt (5 mA). Figures are averages of one hour took with: Nokia_Energy_Profiler_v1_2_en.
Connection with my VoIP provider using "SIP VoIP Settings" under my WiFi: 41 mW (10 mA)
Connection with my VoIP provider using "SIP VoIP Settings" under my 3G: 297 mW (107 mA).
The ratio between 3G and WiFi is 8-10 times!
Nokia is aware of this issue (cfr. http://www.google.it/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=3&ved=0CEUQFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fr...) and I wonder if 5 years later there is a solution to it.
Anybody has an idea about obtimal configuration of "SIP VoIP Settings"?

Problem transferring calls between Voip phones when the call is originated

Hi,
I have configured a gateway h323 (3640- 12.3) to communicate with Cisco Callmanager 3.3(4).
On the H323 gateway I have installed one BRI interface and one FXS interface.
Inside my network I am using VoIP telephones 7910.
Originating calls in the Voip telephones which destination is the PSTN is working fine;
Receiving calls from PSTN that destination is VoIP telephones is OK also;
Redirecting or doing Hold on calls between VoiP telephones works but..
When redirecting or doing Hold on calls between a VoiP telephone and a call from PSTN I loose the voice stream.
Apparently, all signalling is working fine because when redirecting the call originated in the PSTN from one VoIP telephone to another VoIP telephone, I can see the Calling number ID. Even if I use the telephone keyboard, I can listen the tones, but I have no voice stream.
Please any help will be welcome.

I have tried different configurations and now it is working. The problem is that I couldnt identify were the miss configuration was.
Another question is: Can I use a codec with compression between voip interface of h323 gateway and the Callmanager or Voip phones to pass music on hold?
Now I only pass music on hold if I configure G.711 on the voip interface of h323 gateway.

Z10 - disturbance in call and others cannot listen my voice

All new Z10 has problem of lots of disturbance during call and the other person cnnot listen my voice. I have tried evrything possible reading from self help but nothing worked.
After searching the internet I have read several persons have this problem. After reading from their posts I tried using speaker and handsfree and that worked to some extend, but through headset nothing can be heard.

Please help if any knows solution of this problem

Voip IP thelephony bad Calling number interpretation

HI folks,
We are using a CUCM 6.x and h323 gw with BRI interfaces. in last days there is a problem with calling number interpretation on the external phone calls. there are missing last 2 digits on the interpreted number.
I have checked the output of the Caling number in the setup message outgoing from the GW and the phone number is in correct format. But on my display I miss last 2 digits of the phone number.
Users are using CIPC
Can be the problem with the numbers in the CUCM or on the provider side?
Not every number is affected with this issue.
I have used the debug ISDN q931 to check the outgoing traffic.

meanwhile we have solved the issue, we have used traditional route patterns..
the problem was in the sending wrong type and plan settings to ISDN provider (External phone number mask didnt matched the translation pattern on the GW and therefore it was sent like unknown/unknown and correct value should be Plan : ISDN and Type: National)

VoIp settings for replacing a Cisco 3550 switch with a SF300-24P

I am adding the SF300-24P to an existing set of switches. My backbone switch is a 3560.
The 3550 I am replacing has this config for each port that supports a Shoretel phone
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk
mls qos trust dscp
global settings include
spaning-tree mode pvst
spanning-tree extend system-id
spanning-tree vlan 1,200 priority 28762
vlan internal allocation policy ascending
all other settings are at default
Any ideas how to replicate this on this new switch? I added the Shoretel mac address range (00-10-49) into the Telephone OUI. The phone gets power, I think it gets a 192.168.6.x address (local subnet), but then it should get an IP 10.6.0.xx on its VLAN - but it doesn't.
Some configs from the backbone are attached. I did not need to configure any of this in the 3550.
Any ideas?

The shoretel phone sounds like it is not attaching to tagged vlan 200 on my switch, the shortel voice vlan as per your screen captures.
The Voice VLAN should be tagged on my switch so that phones attach to a Voice VLAN and PC's connected on the back of the VoIP phones attach to the Data Vlan .
I scoped out, excuse the pun, the shoretel site and have attached a white paper on setting vlans and shoretel.
They mention setting option 156 on the DHCP server, so the phone can get vendor specific information etc... But the phones are not attached to the voice vlan , but the untagged data vlan. You gotta figure how to get the shortel phones to attach to vlan 200, or if you are not daisy chaining PC on the back of the phone, make vlan 200 untagged on these FastEthernet switch ports..
I have attached my SF300-48P version of my configuration and some configuration screen shots i took along the way.
Please review carefully that attached shortel document and my screen shots and a real configuration done on my SF300-48P. The configuration should be almost identical to your configuration.
I added vlan 200. and made sure that all ports were in trunk mode, even the Gigabit uplink ports.
All ports by default are in VLAN1 as you can see below
I then added all ports as tagged ports to vlan 200 as you can see below.
For the sake of Spanning tree, I then made all fast ethernet (phone or PC) ports fastports except for the uplink Gigabit ports.
If you are not sure what portfast does , here's a little tutorial I grabbed from cisco.com
Spanning-tree PortFast causes a port to enter the spanning-tree forwarding state immediately, bypassing the listening and learning states. You can use PortFast on switch ports connected to a single workstation or server to allow those devices to connect to the network immediately, instead of waiting for the port to transition from the listening and learning states to the forwarding state.
Caution PortFast should be used only when connecting a single end station to a switch port. If you enable PortFast on a port connected to another networking device, such as a switch, you can create network loops.
When the switch powers up, or when a device is connected to a port, the port normally enters the spanning-tree listening state. When the forward delay timer expires, the port enters the learning state. When the forward delay timer expires a second time, the port is transitioned to the forwarding or blocking state.
When you enable PortFast on a port, the port is immediately and permanently transitioned to the spanning-tree forwarding state.
Your tasks I guess should be , making sure that vendor specific options for the shoretel phones are included in the DHCP configuration and that you somehow attach the shortel phones (even manually) to vlan 200.
For some reason this site adds a zip extension to the end of my running configuration. I used wordpad to look at the file
I am using firmware version 1.0.0.27 on my unit and the userid=admin password i used was admin

GSM calls not going thru randomly on iPhone4

hi,
my iPhone 4 has started acting up recently. it is not jailbroken, the iOS is 4.1 and i keep my wifi switched on 24x7. i can make calls thru viber / skype, browse the internet, download emails, play games etc. however, at random, i have noticed that when i make a call thru the gsm network, the phone just shows endless calling, the minute counter does not start up at all and there is dead silence on both handset / speaker. the call does not go thru. same is with sms. if i send an sms, the phone just shows endless sending and later on, in messages, it shows sending failed. gsm connection shows the signal but no functionality can be used till i switch the phone off and restart it back up. i have used the phone since august 2010 but nothing like this upto now. this has happened twice in the past ten days.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanx for your reply... i tried reset network connections the first time this happened but it did not help as the problem came up a second time after 2-3 days. i was sure that the carrier is not related as my wife has iPhone 3GS and she has not had any problem during this time but to eliminate any possibility , i called the carrier and they said there are no network problems. the last time i restarted my iPhone was 2 days back and so far the problem has not come up.

IOS 6 do not disturb, repeated calls feature implemented badly

I tested the "do not disturb" feature. Apparently, it hangs up an incoming call almost immediately. This renders the "repeated calls" portion of the "do not disturb" feature almost useless. This is because a caller is most likely to call a second time almost immediately if the first call gets terminated so quickly. Apple should allow the caller to continue to hear the ringing tone while keeping the callee's iPhone silent.
