Voltage FX5900

Yesterday I tried to install my new GeforceFX 5900XT, but nothing happened, only a black monitor. And when i try to start again the PC gives a beeeep when it starts, but still only black screen.
Then I tried to install the old VGA card and same thing happens.
Can the FX card have destroyed something on the motherboard. Maybe my new FX card runs on 3,3 voltage, I can't see this anywhere.
Anyone who knows which voltage this card uses.
Thanx
Michael

try reinstalling the older card or the new one again, but make sure you take it out of the slot  and gently but firmly apply good pressure while inserting it into the slot. and try again.    I had this problem on a older motherboard with a tight agp slot, if the card was not in just perfect. you would get no video. even with multiple cards.  took awhile to figure that out.   not sure if this solves your problem.  but worth a try.

  • FX5900-VTD128 hates white-backgrounds!!!

    Greetings-
I have an MSI FX5900-VTD128(602-8929-020) VGA card which really doesn’t like white backgrounds!!! I mean whenever I open an app. that has a white background, like winXP’s ‘My Computer’, the common ‘File Save as…’ dialog box or even in a game’s static config. screen which has areas with intense white colour, my monitor suddenly displays a blinking colorful image (like the VGA test screens of those emulation(MAME) arcade games!) for a few seconds and then it switches to power-save mode. If I press the reset-button, the system restarts but the monitor
still blinks. To fix it I have to either turn-off the system or press the key
a few times till it restarts.
In the latter case, windows reboots and reports a system-crash with the following message:

Driver is not WHQL-certified) which seems to be OK overall. If I disable the ‘window transparency’ on dragging, in the ‘nView’ properties util., the problem doesn’t occur so frequently!
Apart from the aforementioned situation, the card works just fine with any 3D game…

Also, do you know for sure that your pc3200 memory is running at full speed (ie. 400MHz) and is not using some other fsb:mem ratio of 4:3 or 5:4?
The given score is with every non-essential background process and service diasbled (though it makes very little difference). DRAM is running at 1:1 (ie 400). Tried 5:4 with FSB=230 (max stable at stock voltage). Gains a little (CPU), loses a little (RAM), doesn't make much difference in the end. IOW, everything is running at specs now.
Also, (to ToxicTaz) it's not a SP.
I noticed a peculiar thing, though. When I ran Aida and checked video mem speed, it reported, as "actual speed", some odd number quite a bit lower than 850 (something like 736). This is in 2D mode of course (but memory speed should be the same). Anyway, now I cannot duplicate it. Could it be that the memory is stepping down on its own accord? GPU, yes, but I didn't think memory could do that. GPU doesn't get too hot either (~48 deg right after 3dmark3). Is there a way I can check "actual" memory speed during 3D testing, if there is even such a thing?
Mind you I can OC memory upto 930 OC and it passes nVidia test and seems to be running fine at that. But if it's lowering down behind my back, that would explain it.

  • Need to a voltage converter to run US-bought 110v HP Printers in 220v Pakistan any recommendations?

    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Before go out to buy a converter/transformer  (you need over 2KW for all 3 of them), please check the switches at the back, they may have switches to switch from 110V to 220V. I don't know your market, my suggestion: talk with an electrician who knows the real world much better.
    Regards.

  • Voltage question for Inspire 5200 5.1 Speakers

Hi, I'm new to the forum, so I'm not sure if this question has been answered in the past, but...
I just moved back States-side after living in Pakistan for about 6 months, and I brought my Pakistan-bought Inspire 5200 speakers. I don't know if I should buy a voltage converter or whatever.
On the AC adaptor, it says "PRL. :230V~50Hz 320 mA... SEC. : 2V ~ 4.2A". I read up a little on this stuff, and, unless I'm mistaken, in Pakistan, the voltage is 220V and 50Hz, while in the US, its 110V and 60Hz.
Is it safe to use the speakers here WITHOUT a voltage converter or a step-down transformer?
If it isn't safe, then what specific things do I need to pick up from Radioshack to make sure my speakers work and don't short-circuit or fry?
    Thanks.

If you use the right step down transformer than it's perfectly safe. The problem is, step down transformer worsen the sound a lot unless you use the very expensi've one. But if you can't hear the different than it's good then, trust your own ear anyway. I think the best way is to change the adaptor.

  • In Brazil. . . Do I need an adapter to plug in my HP Mini 110 into a 220 Voltage plug?

Hi! I'm living in Brazil for a while and just got here. I have an HP Mini 110 and the plugs here say 220V. Is it safe to plug in my computer or do I need some kind of converter? If so what kind?
My power is about to run out!!!!!
    Thanks in advance,
    Sasha

No. The power brick for the iPod senses the voltage and adjusts for the different ones.
You will need an adapter to switch form flat us pins tot the round pins used on their plugs.

  • Guys, I'll be receiving a MacBook Pro bought in the US as a gift. I'm from UK, will the voltage difference (110v to 220v) and warranty/insurance coverage be an issue? Any other issues to face?

    Thanks guys...

Normally the voltage difference is not a problem because the charger can handle both.
I am not sure about the adapter plug: the wall sockets in UK and USA may be different, use a simple (earthed!) adapter for that if necessary.
The rest should be the same, although two keys on the keyboard might be different (@ is shift-2, try to find the other...).
    gratulations with your gift,
    Lex

  • I have a Macbook Air purchased in 2011 in the US.  I am traveling in South Africa and am unsure if I need a step down voltage converter before I plug my laptop into the wall to charge it (using an outlet adapter).  Am I ok to just plug in?

So standard electrical output from wall outlets in the US is 110V - 120V, and standard output from wall outlets in South Africa is 220V - 240V.  In SA I know I can plug in an iPhone using the iPhone charging cable and it will automatically step down the voltage, thus preventing my phone from overheating.  I cannot plug in a hairdryer or flat iron without step down voltage converter in SA.  Can I use the charger that came with my US 2011 Macbook Air and plug into a wall outlet in South Africa or do I need to purchase a step down voltage converter in order to charge my laptop while in SA?

You only need a plug adaptor as long as the voltage is between 100 and 240 volts.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR voltage regulators BURNING!!!

I had to test this motherboard because it was giving boot problems and it never lasted more than 2 minutes.
I set stock clocks for the CPU and also stock voltages.  I set downgraded clocks and even voltages, stability was improved but no more than 5 minutes.
After checking the board looking for something abnormal, I found the voltage regulator heatsinks too hot!!!.
Has someone got a similar problem??? Because I want to know before I try RMA, here in Argentina everyone with this mobo has some sort of problem. I think this mobo s---s but
I have to fix the problem in some way.

The hardware I´m running is the signature´s hardware except, obviously, for the motherboard.
I tested this mobo with my hardware, beacuse I´m sure it works correctly.
I don´t have my PSU specs because I changed the cover and it doesn´t have the sticker where it shows the currents.
It´s a 350 W Sunshine PSU, the one that is listed in my signature.
But I don´t think it´s a PSU problem, because I´ve already tested it with another PSU, a
Thermaltake one, and the problem persists.
I had the idea to add a fan to the heatsinks, I did this and stability was improved, so I´m almost sure that the problem is on the mobo and I´ll have to send it to RMA, but still any suggestions wil be apreciated

  • G4Ti4200-VTD64 voltage incompatibility with MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR??

    Hello,
I have the MSI G4Ti4200-VTD64 (4X) video card..  I want to upgrade my motherboard to K7N2 Delta-ILSR. Is there any voltage incompatibility?? I heard that new mother boards will support only AGP 1.5V. Is the AGP voltage of K7N2 Delta-ILSR 1.5volts??  Is my video card compatible with this voltage?? I really want to retain my current video card as I am quite satisfied with it and I'm not willing to invest on a new one at the moment. If there is an incompatibility could you suggest another Socket A MB with good performance and SATA RAID support.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Joseph

    Joseph,
All 4X Vid Cards work on all 4X and 8X mobos. All 4X mobos work with all 4X and 8X Vid Cards.

  • Can I play HL2 with FX5900 128MB ??

    Hi!
I´ve heard that there might be som problems running the new HL2 with Nvidias FX cards!
    Look at:
    http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/display/20030718155730.html
    http://www.anandtech.com/#20106
What should we think about this....I really like Nvidia and was planing to build a new one using FX 5900 128MB.
    My future unbuilt system:
    * Chieftec Miditower ATX 360W 4 x 5,25",2/4 x 3,5" Silver
    * MSI 865PE Neo2-FIS2R   (MS-6728) + BIOS 1.3(2003-6-26 )
    * Kingston KVR400X64C25/256    ( 2x)
    * Maxtor Diamondmax9 80GB 7200RPM ATA133 8MB
    * MSI FX5900-TD128(MS-8929) with nvidia driver 44.03
or Sapphire Radeon 9800 Atlantis PRO 128MB with driver 3.5
    * MS Windows XP Home Edition
    * Logitech Cordless Navigator trådlöst tb & mouse
What should I buy, Sapphire or MSI regarding the grafic card?
Any other suggestions or tips regarding my choice of components?
I want to be able to play HL2 and other games with nice performance.
    Regards
    WiGGoW

It's been posted here a page or two back, so if you must play HL2 now, I would consider the other alternative. It doesn't look good at the moment for nVidia but who's to say what will happen.

  • Memory Voltage X58 Platinum

    Hi,
I recently bought 2 GTX 460's to SLI with my X58 Platinum. I have been having lock ups while gaming that sometimes include white blocks all over the screen. EVGA tech support has told me to ensure my ram timings and voltages are set correctly for the RAM I use to ensure stability. The memory model I use is OCZ3G1333LV6GK. I changed the timings to 9-9-9-20, but I was unable to change the voltage from 1.5 to the recommended 1.65. The option was greyed out and the BIOS stated that changing the voltage to 1.65 could potentially damage the cpu.
Can I/Should I find a way to force the voltage up? Is this the incorrect RAM/Mobo Combination? What do you all think?

Use the +/- keys of your keyboard's numpad.

1.65V is the absolute maximum Intel has defined for DRAM voltage.  Ignore the warning.

  • KT3 Ultra ARU - Restricted Voltages?

I'm running a MSI KT3 Ultra ARU with an Athlon 1700+ tbred. I was trying to adjust the voltage, but the max I can put it at is 1.6V (the default voltage for my chip is 1.5V). Now, I know the board can go higher for sure, because prior to this tbred, I was running a Palomino, and I had the voltage at 1.85V. But now, the max it allows me to select is 1.6V. Is there a way to "unlock" the voltage so I can bump it up past 1.6V?

This seems to be the #1 complaint for the kt3-ultra series. I'd too like to find a way(without mods) to get the voltage past 1.6 on my tbredA. I heard they may be releasing a new bios(at least for my ultra2) but I doubt it'll affect the voltage adjustments. It'll Probably just have a few bug fixes and barton support.

I have the K9N Platinum motherboard aswell, and the standard DDR voltage is 1.80
OK, let me make it clear. there is no standard voltage on the mobos. the default voltage depends on the memory you are using. different memory modules will default at different voltages, as per the data that the manufacturer placed in their SPDs.
if you are talking about JEDEC default voltage for DDR2, then yes, it is 1.8V, with a maximum of 2.3V. you can read about timings and voltages for the JEDEC standard here:
