Voltage in the US?

hello guys
I'm travelling to the US with my UK bought iPod and charger.
Will I need a voltage converter in addition to a plain plug adaptor?

Whatever he's got it's going to end in a USB2. I travel all over the world including your 110v 60HZ Country and the only things that you have to be wary of with voltage are devices that uses motors. That's because the cycles can cause the motor to run too fast or too slow and it will over-heat and blow up. Not always the case I grant you but it can and does happen. For instance hairdryers are not always universal voltage. You tend to have more products in the USA that only run on 110v because your fellow Countrymen do not go abroad as much as much as other people do.
I once worked with some Americans who had bought over their video playback machines. The outcome? Blown machines. I can guarantee that an ipod charger will be safe. It's a travel device after all.

please i need help, im worried that if I connect my ipod here, it will burn or sometihng bad.

Just connect it to a computer's USB port.
Most wall chargers are dual voltage (110- 220 volts) and only require a plug adopter. Check the wall charger to see if yours is.

  • I am trying to use a SC-2024-RTD DAQ board to do 3 things (monitor two sensors (input) and control a small motor (output)) simultaneously. I have not been successful using labview for output. I can't even get it to show a voltage at the output pins.

I have it configured for voltage modulation, channel 0, and I am testing Ix0+ and Ix0-. To run it, I am right-clicking on the function and clicking "test". What's wrong?
    thanks, Alex Millie

Ix0(+/-) are make the excitation current. You can see this in figure 4-1 in the user manual. You can see the output voltage from the MIO card by looking at the voltage from terminal 23 to terminal 20 (channel 0) and terminal 23 to terminal 21 (channel 1). You can see this pinout on page 3-5 of the SC-2042-RTD user manual.

  • Getting low voltage from the Macbook Pro Case

I'm getting low voltage throughout the casing whenever the brick is plugged in my 2011 macbook pro 13".  I can run my fingers across the case and get the 60hz hum from the ac current.  Pretty neat effect, not sure if it's totally safe or not.  I tried plugging it into several outlets and changed the surge protector, with no changes happening.  Anyone else getting this issue?  Thank you for listening!!!

I have exactly the same problem. How did you fix it?
    Is it magsafe adapter issue?

  • How can i measure a voltage with the digital i/o port on my nudrive using labview?

I am using a 4SX-411 nu drive to control my stepper motor. I need to measure an input voltage at the digital I/O port of the nudrive. How can I program LabVIEW to do that?
    Thanks

    Hello Raven24,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments. NUDrive 4SX-411 is a value motion drive and you can connect to it using any of the ValueMotion boards. When using a ValueMotion NUDrive with steppers you have I/O ports 1-4 available for general purpose use, I/O ports 5-8 are reserved for axis inhibit output signals. Refer to section 4-7 of the ValueMotion Hardware User Manual linked below, for information about the jumper settings.
    ValueMotion Hardware User Manual:
    http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/6CF7A54E0BDEA1388625665F0054FFDF?OpenDocument&node=132090_US
Once you have setup the jumpers appropriately, you can use the VIs found on the ValueMotion I/O & Limits pallet for configuring and using the I/O channels. Search for "I/O" in the attached help file for more information about these VIs. I hope this helps you out. Have a great day!

  • If i buy a new ipad and bring it to England will it still work with the different voltages and the 3G/4G?

if i buy a new ipad and bring it to England will it still work with the different voltages and the 3G/4G?

They both seem to cover the same 3G bands - from http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/ :
    Wi-Fi + 4G for AT&T model: 4G LTE (700, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
    Wi-Fi + 4G for Verizon model: 4G LTE (700 MHz); CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz);UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
CDMA isn't any use here as there aren't any UK CDMA based carriers, they are all GSM/sim card based (I'm not aware of any CDMA carriers in Europe). As the AT&T version appears to support an extra 4G LTE band then that might be the better one.

  • What happens if an iPhone charger receive a high voltage, would the iPhone get burnt or the charger?

What happens if an iPhone charger receive a high voltage, would the iPhone get burnt or the charger?

"If I charged my iPhone with a charger and the electric voltage was 260V"
Why would you do that?  The power adapter has protective circuits at both the input and output.  If you attached 260VAC to the input, it is likely to shut down, and can be reset by unplugging the power adapter, and plugging it into an AC outlet with the proper voltage.  I'm sure you have plenty of follow-on questions ("how about 400VAC, 2000VAC, a million billion trillion volts AC), and I won't entertain those.

  • How Do I enable multiple trigger voltages on the PCI-6221 using NI-DAQmx?

I am using the PCI-6221 to do some simple data acquisition.  The idea is to allow three different analog voltages to trigger the data acquisition state.  I currently have the code set up for one voltage trigger but I am not sure what needs to be done to add the two additional trigger voltages. Any ideas?

Is it possible to do something as simple as this:
        DAQmxErrChk
            (DAQmxCreateAIVoltageChan(taskHandle,"Dev1/ai0","",DAQmx_Val_Cfg_Default,0.0,5.0,DAQmx_Val_Volts,NULL));
        DAQmxErrChk
            (DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming(taskHandle,"OnboardClock",3000.0,DAQmx_Val_Rising,DAQmx_Val_FiniteSamps,3000));
        DAQmxErrChk
            (DAQmxCfgAnlgEdgeStartTrig(taskHandle,"Dev1/ai0",DAQmx_Val_Rising,0.7));
or will I need to put the trigger on PFI0?

  • Can you buy a macbook in Canada and then use a charger purchased in England to charge it? Or do the different voltages mean the a Canadian and a UK macbook work on different power supplies?

I want to purchase a Macbook in Canada before I move to the UK for a couple of years. But am concerned about whether I can use a Macbook power cord purchased in the UK with my Canadian Macbook. Is the differences in voltage something that affects the battery life or will it be completely fine to use the UK power cord with the Canadian computer?
    Thanks!

The AC charge is auto-switching and works on both 110 an 220 volt systems. All you need is a wall outlet adaptor for the plug.

  • How can I zero out offset voltage at the start of the program?

I have a simple program that reads a voltage input and outputs the results to a file. The voltage has an offset (which changes from test to test), and I am interested in zeroing out this value at the start of acquisition. I could use an example of how to do this. Thanks.

    Try this simple method...
Right click on the icon which represents the offset voltage. Select create: Invoke Node.
Use the finger pointer and click on the "Method" of the newly created Invoke Node. Choose "Reinit To Dflt"
Place this Invoke Node at the beginning of your vi by running the Error In through it.
And "voila"... everytime you run your vi, it will reinitialize it to the default value... which can be zero.
You can use the same trick to re-initialize values if a certain condition is met within your vi.

The short answer is: "Yes, of course."  But you are going to have to do the legwork and learn LabVIEW basics before we can offer meaningful help.

  • What is the best way to detect peak to peak voltage for the following waveform ?

I have two channels of waveform train ( ie W1 & W2 ), each of them is of frequency 64KHz.
Each channel of waveform train consists of sinewaves of 64KHz of fixed amplitude, say 2 V pk to pk, running for 100 cycles, and then rest for 0.15 sec continue with a sinewave of 64KHz of another fixed amplitude, say 1 V pk to pk running for 100 cycles as well, and then rest for 0.15 sec. The above cycle considered as a complete waveform cycle.
The above complete waveform cycle repeat for 10 cycles and rest for 1.3 sec and repeated itself.
From the two simulated waveforms (ie W1 & W2), I need to detect and measure the peak to peak voltage of each of the 100 cycles sinewaves.
    What is th
e best way to achieve that ?

The waveform is free running as described above, ie sinewave running at approximate 64 KHz for about 100 cylce at fixed amplitude, say 2V ( actual number of cylce unknown, could slightly more or sightly less, depanding on the machine ) then rest for approximately 0.15sec, another sinewave running at approx. 64KHz at fixed amplitude, say 1.5V ( actual number of cylce unknown, could slightly more or sightly less, depanding on the machine ) running for approx 100 cycles continue...then rest for approx. 0.15 sec .....the above waveform repeated itself and free running .....I would like to capture or trigger each of the 100 cycles sinewave (rest time of 0.15 sec between each approx100 cycles of sinewave) to measure the peak to peak voltage and st
ore them in array for analysis purpose....what is the best way to achieve that as I do not have time reference, I only know that the waveform is running at the pattern described above.
    Thanks for your help !
