Voltage squarer using the AD633JN

hello there i am trying to implement a voltage squarer using the AD633JN IC, i have first tried simulating it in multisim. well its transfer function is
W = [ {(X1-X2)(Y1-Y2)} / 10V] + Z.
Given this transfer function, squaring can easily be achieved by making X1 equal to Y1 and making X2 and Y2 equal to zero. This is done by connecting X1 and Y1 to the same input voltage (E) and grounding X2 and Y2. This is basically the same as connecting the X and Y inputs in parallel with each other.
The over-all transfer function of this circuit is as follows: W = (E squared) /(10 V).
Well i have looked at the data sheet of the AD633JN, and in it they describe how to change the scalar to something else using two resistors.i want the transfer function to be W = E squared , hence implementing the squaring function .so i want to remove the "10" in the denominator but iv failed...some one to help...Thank you so much.
attached is the datasheet (check under the ""variable scale factor"" section on page 8) and my multisim circuit.

Hi,
I do not see the attachments. Can you please attach the files again.

  • How to measure voltage changes using a NI-9219 with strain gauges and use the data in labview

I am updating an old LabView/Data Acquisition system that uses strain gauges to measure two forces (normal and axial) as well as two moments (Pitch and Roll). I am having trouble reading the voltage changes over my strain gauges using my NI-9219 as well as filtering the data with both a lowpass and smoothing filter. The program attached has the project and should have all the sub-vi's used in the program. This program was written on LabView version 8.5 and is being updated to a 2013 version of LabView. Also, the hardware previously used was a combination of a NI SCB-68 and NI USB-6251. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Coffeyfj,
Did you ever had this set up working? The first thing that I would do as I mentioned in the previous comment would be to use one of the LabVIEW examples. I recommended to you using the (strain - Continuous Input.vi). If you can read any voltage changes with the example vi, then we will know the problem we are having is in your code. If you cannot read any voltage changes using the example I mentioned, we can start trouble shooting the hardware connections. Are you connecting the excitation voltage? If yes, Are you making the right connections. Please refer to page 19 of the following document (half and full bridge modes)

  • I want to use the Function Generator VI to send command signals through the NI 7344 motion controller. This will be a closed loop servo valve system. I want to be able to change from say a square wave to a sine wave on the fly. Idea's?

I am going to run tests that require an actuator to move using various types of arbitrary waveforms such as sine or square. The NI 7344 is hooked to the UMI that is going through a driver for a servo valve. The loop is analog and it is closed. I have played with some of the examples but can't get it to work. I have used the function generator VI to generate a signal but I think I am using the wrong input VI to the motion control board. When I use what I have it moves the servo and then stops. It doesn't continually generate the signal.
I would love to use the controls on the function generator vi to control frequency and amplitude ect. Any help or pointer would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

    Hello,
I'm not clear on exactly how you want to use the generated data but I'm assuming they will be used as your target points.
There's a built-in example for motion called 'One-Axis Contour Move.vi'. This example demonstrates how to provide your target points as 1-D array. All you need to do is to replace the input array with the output of the function generator. In order to have it run continuously, use a while loop. You can further program your application so that it'll change the waveform on the fly by monitoring the user interface but this might be little little tricky as you will need to reset the move and load the new generated points while keeping track of your current position.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions regarding this
    application.

  • 3 squares symbol when using the web browser?

    Hi there,
Have just got my first blackberry today (Curve 8900) and am trying to get to grips with it!
Does anyone know what the square with two green squares in the two diagonal corners is?  It only seems to appear when browsing the web. (I'm using wi-fi at the moment - not sure if it's connected to that?)
    Many thanks in advance,

  • Using the DAQ-9178 and 9205 Voltage Module, how do I build a 16 Channel Voltmeter with a range of 0--50Vdc?

I have already built an 8 channel 10:1 voltage divider using 1% resistors.  My problem is there is a lot of AC noise on the DC signal and the voltages don't match my Fluke DVM which is sitting beside.

A little more info... Only Channels one and two have signal going to them.  Ch1, (a0), is connected to a 9volt battery, and ch2, (a1), is connected to a variable bench supply set for 17Vdc.
The DVM is rock steady, however the LabVIEW indicators show what I assume is a product of the AC noise.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • Could I use the square grid for calibration in IMAQ vision?

In IMAQ vision 6.0, NI provide the circular grid for system calibration. But now for some reasons,we need to use the square grid for calibration.Could the square grid be used with the calibration functions in the IMAQ vision for system calibration? What special things do we need to consider when we use the square grid for calibration?

Are you talking about the layout of the points that make up the grid, or the shape of the points, or something else?
Using dots in a rectangular grid with regular X and Y spacing is the standard grid for the NI calibration routines.
I don't think the shape of the dots is critical. They could be small squares instead of circles.
If you are talking about making a grid using lines instead of dots, like a tic-tac-toe board, I think you will have problems with the NI routines. You could probably do some processing on the grid image to reduce it to dots at the intersections, but it doesn't seem like it would be worth the effort. I would just use a grid made of dots instead.
If this doesn't help, explain your problem more clearly.

  • I'm having issues using labview to conduct a voltage sweep on the keithley 2400.

I'm trying to pass sweeping voltage through a diode, and measure the resulting current in order to ensure its iv characterisitcs. I downloaded the instrument driver for the keitley, and then used the example sweep and acquire measurements vi, but i kep getting the following errors:
    Instrument reports:
    -113,"Undefined header"
    -230,"Data corrupt or stale"
    -420,"Query UNTERMINATED"
    0,"No error"
    Complete call chain:
    Keithley 24XX.lvlib:Error Query.vi
    Keithley 24XX.lvlib:Read (Multiple Points).vi
Keithley 24XX Output List and Acquire.vi
    Help!! thanks!

    Hi akam520,
The 2400 Series SourceMeter User's Manual has more information on these errors. Please see page B-8:
    http://research.physics.illinois.edu/bezryadin/labprotocol/Keithley2400Manual.pdf
Error -113 "Undefined header" occurs when the command you sent to the instrument did not contain a recognizable command name. It's likely the syntax of one of your commands is wrong. It's possible that this command being incorrect is also propagating to cause the other errors you're seeing.
Can you try stepping through your application to see when the error gets  thrown? If you can narrow down which call is throwing the error, it will be easier to compare this command against the user manual to ensure that you have the correct syntax.
    I hope this helps!

  • I am doing data acquisition using the 6024E board, how can I acquire voltages greater than 10V

I am doing data acquisition on MATLAB using the 6024E board, the maximun range I can see is <-10V,-10V>, can I increase this limit to be able to acquire higher voltages

Without knowing the details of the signal you are acquiring (output Z etc), I can only offer an old suggestion.
A voltage divider may be usefull. This will work if your application can tolerate some external resistors.
    Ask if you want details.
