Volume bar won't appear.

Hi, My volume bar used to appear when I pressed the buttons on my keyboard, but now it doesn't. The volume will still go up or down I just would like to see it on the screen like I used to be able to. I tried reinstalling HP Mediasmart Smartmenu and uninstalling the keyboard driver and reinstalling and still not working. Someone please help? Thanks!

Hi,
You can try one step though it might look very simple but has worked many times to fix this problem.."Hard Reset"..Perform the steps exactly as it says and check if it works..
Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues
Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • Application bar won't appear and MacBook won't shut down conventionally

When i load my Mac up it comes up with three error messages.
    They all say:
    +Application Launch Failure+
+The application "(null)" could not be launched because of a shared library error:+
And then the different messages have different codes:
    - "<CNQL1208ButtonManager.app><CarbonLib>CFMPrivCarbonCore>"
    - "<N12UButtonManager.app><CarbonLib><CFMPrivCarbonCore>"
    - "<N067UButtonManager.app><CarbonLib><CFMPrivCarbonCore>"
I have a feeling i know what has caused this, i was updating the security software when an interruption with the internet cause my computer to freeze up so i performed a force quit.
The result of this is that when i've clicked the error messages away the application bar down the bottom doesn't load and (strangely) when i try to shut the computer down it doesn't do anything. Obviously i can just hold the power button down to turn it off, but i can't imagine it's good for it. I can still access my applications by pressing "Apple-Shift-A", but as an added issue when i go into a folder it doesn't have the usual "Applications/Documents/Music/Movie etc" on the left hand side.
Hopefully someone can help me out here.

Just needed to reinstall the latest security software.
Security software on a Mac in most cases creates more trouble than it cures.
"ButtonManager.app" does not appear to be something installed by the system. If the problem returns, try disabling that application.

  • Iphone 3gs volume bar

I have a 3GS. I am having problems with my volume bar, like on iPod or YouTube. When I try adjusting the volume, the little ball on the bar slides with my finger, but it bounces right back where it was before after I remove my finger. I did restore the phone, but it showed up after a day or so.I tryied to restore and set new iphone, same result. Anyone have this problem? Any advice?
I cant go to apple service and i cant use any service , its complicated so please dont tell me to do so.
    its like this

    thanks

I have the exact same problem! My iPhone 3gs is only 3 weeks old and has latest software but the volume bar is doing my head in. It's ok with the apple supplied headphones but with other headphones and small battery powered speakers the volume bar won't adjust properly.
You can drag it with your finger but it bounces back to the approx same place when you let go? The buttons on the side do adjust the volume but the increase or decrease in volume per push/click seems larger than normal.
The only way i've found to get the volume bar working again is to turn off and on the phone.
Someone clever please tell me why it's doing this. :os

  • IPhone 4S: Scrubber video controls won't appear during playback

I've had my 4S for about 2 weeks.  A few days ago, I started having an issue where the video scrubber (play/pause/rev/ff control bar) won't appear on the screen while a video is playing.  I touch the screen multiple times in different areas of the screen; sometimes the controls will appear after 10-15 tries; other times, it won't ever come up, and I'll have to press the home button or sleep/power button before anything will happen.  This only happens while watching a video (podcast, home movie, transferred DVD rip, etc.)  All other apps work as advertised, regarding screen response.
At the beginning, when this would occur, I'd touch the screen again and again with one finger, then the scrubber would re-appear, but when the video had been finished, I'd return to the home screen and all would be ridiculously magnified to the point that one icon would take up the majority of the screen, and I'd have a **** of a time to get to a slider control or anything until I'd reset power, then all would be normal again.  I think I've fixed that issue by disabling the screen magnification accessibility feature on my iPhone...the iPhone would think that I was touching the screen with three fingers when trying to get the video scrubber bar to appear during video playback, even though I was only using one finger.
Still having the video playback/scrubber bar issue though.  Searched the forum and found this issue related to an iPad, but couldn't find any mention of it with an iPhone.  Any comments/suggestions?

I've reset it numerous times (simultaneously pressing power and home buttons until rebooted) to no avail.  Everything works perfectly on this phone, touchscreen-wise, except when viewing videos.  I guess I'll just press the power button to pause a movie until this glitch is fixed.

  • 'Music' displays but won't play. Settings appear correct and iPhone is selected for output.  Startup screen intermittently displays with the lower pause/play volume bar for no clear reason..... developed at the same time as play failure.  Ideas????

'Music' displays but won't play. Settings appear correct and iPhone (3G)  is selected for output.  Startup screen intermittently displays with the lower pause/play volume bar for no clear reason..... developed at the same time as play failure.  Ideas????

    Thank you for the replies.
Appearane of 'Music' functions (I>>   > II   <<I,   plus volume slider)  on the lock/log in screen (when first turning on the iPhone) thus far seems without pattern, i.e. regardless of which if any applications are up in the background, and indeed even when all have been quit.
All visual aspects of 'Music' appear normal after launch including the title scroll across the top in vertical mode. However, while pressing play (>) converts the play (>) icon to pause (II), selected song does not play and the elapsed time bar (upper end between the track count and the repeat/shuffle icons) remains stationary at 0:00 or at any point to which it is dragged.  When using home sharing this same problem persists regardless of what output is selected.
Hope that may prompt a thought somewhere.

  • Volume bar appears in opening screen and time is in double vision

On opening my iPhone there is what appears to be a volume bar toward the top and the time is displayed over a different time in the background. Any suggetions?

You've most likely taken a screen shot of the lock screen and assigned it to your wallpaper. Change your wallpaper and it will go away... Settings > Wallpaper
See p. 105 of the manual for how you took the screen shot... http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf

Although you say you have let the battery drain, was it for long enough? Since nothing else that you've tried so far has worked, I suggest that you leave the iPod unplugged for at least four days, preferably a week. That way, if something is stopping the iPod from turning the screen on, then whatever it is will drain the battrey. However, since the screen isn't on, that may take longer than if the screen was on.
Then, after that time, plug the iPod into a power source and leave it alone for at least thirty minutes. Only after thirty minutes will it show any signs of life, but you should leave it until it is fully charged before trying to use it.
If you get to this stage, the fact that the battery has drained will cause the iPod to reset when it springs back to life.
Let us know how you get on.

Have safari logo but search bar or page won't appear?

Make sure the firewall is turned off in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
Disable anti virus sofware if installed.
If nothng above applies, try troubleshooting Safari extensions and third party plugins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Firefox is hanging after trying to update Adobe Flash. I can't fix it as long as Firefox is open, but I'm unable to close it-menu bar won't even appear.

In the process of updating Adobe Flash, Firefox froze. It registers as being open, and none of the fixes I've tried will work as long as it's open, but I can't close it. Even when I click on the Firefox icon, the Firefox menu bar doesn't appear. No Firefox window appears.

Good advice - I'll keep that in mind. Thanks

Sometimes, if you don't allow the screen to refresh before pressing another button, it gets stuck.

iPod "stuck" on the artwork or rating screen.
As you will see, updating the software can cure this.

  • Ipod Touch Version 3.1.3 volume bar disappeared and will not return

The volume bar on my 1st generation iOS 3.1.3 ipod touch started disappearing then would return with tweeking of the headphones and sometimes when resetting all settings. Now it is gone completely and won't come back.
I have tried resetting to factory settings.
Cleaning the jack with a clean dry toothbrush.
    Any ideas???
I thought I would try getting help here before going to the apple store.

From your description it appears that the headphone jack is bad. You can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to hear what they have to say.
If Apple can't clean out the jack, they will exchange it for this price.
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
Likely not worth it for a 1G iPod. Thee a thrid-party place that is less expensive.
