Volume button making sound when pressed

When I press my volume buttons, a loud popping/clicking noise happens with each press. It shows the volume adjusting on my screen, but I can't get this cracking noise to stop. Help?

Sorry that the suggestion did not work.
You can revert back to the preference selection as it it was before the change.
System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects
Checkmark the box next to  "Play feedback when volume is changed".
You may have to take the computer to the Apple store to have it checked out.
Best.

  • MSI GE60 0ND - Keyboard making squeaky sound when pressed.

Having this weird issue on my new laptop, out of nowhere I just realized my "w" button is making slightly loud and squeaky sound when pressed. I'm curious if in this product we could remove the key and put it back in?
    Thank you.

I tried turning off AHCI in the bios which resulted in a bsod on windows startup. I then enabled AHCI again and started up windows. Windows then went into error checking mode and after about 30 minutes had the message that it was unable to fix errors with the system. Booted up normally after that and it was fine, however it took much longer than usual.
Should I try disable AHCI and then run windows recovery so it puts a fresh copy of win 7 on the drive?
Edit: I ran hdd tune before trying to disable AHCI, no errors were found and the hdd health was ok
Edit2: installed https://sites.google.com/site/quiethdd/ which seems to have stopped the sound

Take it back to Apple if you think there's a problem with it.

  • Volume button says sound effects, no sound.

I Can not get the sound to come through on my ipad. It works with head phones. It was working a few days ago. My volume buttons say sound effects. It used to say volume?

    Hello Skeetercove,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue of having no audio output from your iPad's speakers.  Please note that even though the steps state it's for iPhone, the same applies to your iPad.
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.

My iphone 4s is no longer making sound when i have an incoming call or message after installing ios7.... any help?
It still vibrates but no calling sounds or message sounds. It's not on mute and the speakers are working... I can hear music etc.
Oh yeah no keypad noises either.

Same thing has happened to me. I have tried every trick that's been posted here. I just ran out of options. Galaxy phone is starting to look better by the minute.

  • Mail app quit making sounds when sending/receiving mail.

Mail app quit making sounds when sending/receiving mail. It was fine yesterday and just went mute today. I have Mac OSX 10.7.2 and a MacBook Air. Is there any way to fix this easily?

I have the same issue. I'm wondering if I'm sending out viruses.
    Is this a common issue?
    Has this been solved?

  • No sound when pressing numbers when dialing on keypad

When pressing the numbers to make a clall, there is no sound heard when typing each number. The sound works for everything else but this.

I am having the same problem: any luck finding a solution?

  • Satellite U500: Volume + button stick ON when connected to AC adaptor

I have a problem with the touch buttons on my U500. I have already returned the first notebook I bought for exchange.
    The issue is as follows:
When the power cord is plugged in (regardless if connected to the wall) the "Volume +" button will stick ON.
The volume will then continue to increase, it can not be muted or turned down as the + continues to repeat.
Without the power cord inserted the buttons works as expected (normally).
I have done fresh install from recovery disks - Not fixed (running Vista)
Then another fresh install and Win7 upgrade this new PC is having the same problem.
At first I had assumed a hardware fault (the new PC did work fine for a while).
But now the second PC has the identical symptoms I suspect a software/driver issue.
I have seen some suggestion for similar issues to:
Re-install "Toshiba Common Modules" but I can't find this on the support site for U500 in Australia.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

    Thank you kindly :)
Bios was ver 1.4 , upgrading to ver 1.6 appears to have fixed the problem.
I hadn't updated the bios as the support site for Win 7 doesn't list the bios.
Although the "standard" downloads page does.
Thanks again, if the symptoms return... I'll post back.
    Cheers.

  • TS1587 My friend has a G4 that will NOT turn on at all.  The monitor power button will light up, but monitor won't turn on; the the computer power button lights up when pressed but won't stay on and nothing else happens.  He said it USED to at least turn

Anyway, not sure if my question was sent, so here it goes:  My friend's G4 won't power on....the power button lights up briefly when pressed, but nothing happens....and, cannot even get the montior to power on...does the same thing.   He said it used to at least turn on, but now it's doing this.   Help!!??  What should we do??

If you are able to use a multi-meter, you can test to see if the power supply is culprit. Use the Power Mac G4: Power Supply Voltage Test  (Sawtooth G4) document to aide you in the proceedure.
If not the Sawtooth, Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet): Power Supply Voltage Test.
If a Quicksilver, use the pinout of the QS PSU connector here:
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/tips/MDDps_mods/MDD_PSMods.html#update
    and a testing description here:
    http://www.jcsenterprises.com/Japamacs_Page/Blog/D275729F-09DA-4FBB-96B3-BEEEB2C 04619.html
The test description is for a MDD, but the basics are the same.
If a MDD,follow my instructions in the linked articl above.
One should also try a PMU reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1939
One should also  replace the 1/2 AA PRAM battery.
Also, check that the 20, 22, 24 pin connector is properly fitted to the motherboard, and that the wires are properly inserted in the connector. There is also a 10 wire ribbon, which goes from the motherboard to the power button board. Make sure that the ribbon is firmly connected at both ends, and that there is no apparent damage to the ribbon.
If the power supply tests good in a MDD, the power switch board could be suspect.

  • Tilting, Volume Buttons and Sound Effects icon problem.

Every time I tilt my iPad while using it on a flat surface the volume button is contacted and the Sound Effects icon appears.  This is a very poor design in my opinion.  It drives me crazy!!  Any workarounds?

knothead997cdp - I know that with the iPhone, they say there is an app for everything, but causing you headaches isn't one of them! Judging from the multiple issues you are describing, the master reset is definitely the best course of action to take. You may always stop by at your closest Apple Store for a second opinion. In all honesty, it just sounds like the update went corrupt somewhere. Starting clean should take care of it!
Let us know how it goes. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!

  • No sound when press physical keyboard keys

Hello ! By clicking on the physical keyboard keys on my Blacberry Passport no sound ( tone) as when you press the virtual keys ( numbers, symbols, ....). And how are you ? What could be the problem? Is there a sound when you press the physical keys ?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi @SPBU
By design, audible 'typing noise' will not occur when pressing any of the physical keys.
Audible noise will only occur when using the virtual keyboard. Thanks!

  • Odd sound when pressing forward button

This is hard to explain, and at first I thought it was my fm transmitter but it does it with headphones too. Every 3rd time or so I press the up button a odd sound is heard through the speakers, almost like a drive spinning up.
Its short, low tones and loud enough to be heard but not speaker destroying loud.
    Any one else heard this?
    thanks

No one replied, so just going to close it.

  • No sound when pressing buttons

My iPod shuffle 4gen is acting weird.
Whenever I press the sound button or slide the shuffle, play in order button, I can't hear any sound. I restored the iPod and so on and still nothing changed.
Can someone help me with this? I have no clue about what's happening to my iPod shuffle.
    Thanks

    No it is not that.
After charging it over 50% it started to work.
I think there is a bug in software.Cause it happened to me 3 times already.
Someone wrote to clean the docking conector. It could be what happened to mine after I change charging place.
So far no problem untill next time.
There was sounds in some applications but not all of them. And sound was working with headphones.

  • Making sound when shutting down

I noticed that as of recently, my MBP has been making the "Basso" sound right before my computer shuts down. I don't know when or why OS X would play the "Basso" sound but it kind of sounds like a bad warning. Any ideas on this?

    Some things to play with:
I guess the first thing to check is System Preferences, Energy Saver. Click the button called "Schedule" to see if somehow the machine has been instructed to startup at some time. You might also have a look at the checkbox "Startup automatically after a power failure". Is that checked?  I think I might try trashing the relevant preferences, but I can't find them at the moment to tell you where they are.
I would have a look at the application Console in your Utilities folder to see if there are any telling system messages.
Resetting PRAM and/or SMC is probably worth trying as well.
