  • IPAD MINI UPPER VOLUME BUTTON STUCK..HELP??!

My iPad mini (it has a Smart Cover on,front only)  fell from a dressing table onto very soft carpet, however the upper volume key has stopped working, supposedly jammed? But there isn't the volume icon on the screen. I don't have warranty on it, so if I take it into the store what will they do and how much will it cost?
    Thankyou x

    Hey Oliviamarylou,
Thanks for the question. The following resource provides basic information on iPad repairs. However, in all honesty you may want to take the device into the store to have the issue diagnosed.

Volume buttons stuck! Any idea what to do?

You could try leaving it in an airing cupboard for a few days to dry out thoroughly
Some people also say to put it in a bag of rice .....
People also argue that you should not use a blower such as a hair dryer to dry it out as this can mess things up even more
Personally I am not interested in the bickering people have about this and when this happens to me or people I know I just leave it in the airing cupboard, probably 50% success rate....
IF this fails and it is broken for good:
you can take it to an Apple store and give them the iPod along with a fee and they will give you a fully functional REFURBISHED model
or you can trade it in for 10% off a NEW model of any type apart from iPod shuffle. Does not matter if it is completely destroyed you can still get 10% off (at least at my local Apple store you can)

I have the old machine backed up onto an external firewire disk but can't hook that up to the new imac as I'm waiting for delivery of a firewire 400/800 adaptor - therefore starting the old machine up as a slave is also subject to the same delay.
I was hoping there might be some way to create a network between the 2 machines (and 2 different versions of the OS) to be able to transfer data across immediately but perhaps I'll just have to wait for my firewire adaptor to arrive.
I don't understand why you're buying a Firewire adaptor, since AFAIK both of your computers have Firewire already built in.
All you need is a firewire cable. Connect the Firewire socket on the old machine to the Firewire socket on your new iMac.
Then start the old machine in Target Mode (i.e. by holding down the T key on its keyboard, while it's starting up, until you see the three-legged T icon hopping around the screen of the old machine.)
At that point you will also see a new icon on the screen of your new iMac. This is the hard drive of your old machine.  By clicking on it you can navigate through it any way you like, just as you would normally.
Just drag across whatever you want from the old computer to the new one. This will leave everything on the old computer untouched.
    - or use Migration Assistant but in my experience, Migration Assistant isn't very reliable and fails to migrate large amounts of stuff.

  • N91 volume button stuck?

    Hi,
I have an N91 and it seems as though the down volume button on the side of the phone is stuck. During a call, the volume goes all the way down to minimum, then the phone starts beeping constantly (I think the beep sounds when you press the down key when you are on the lowest volume setting). Also, while in music mode, the volume goes all the way down to mute.
I think this problem causes further issues, as it keeps flicking up the 'keypad locked' screen while the phone is idle and I think this is draining the battery quite quickly.
When I press the up and down buttons, there is a clear distinctive click so I am not totally convinced that it is a hardware issue.
I have seen this problem posted in a few places, but there has been no clear answers.
    Any help would be great.
    Cheers,
    Sean.

  • Volume button stuck

    Hello,
I will try to make my self as understandable as i can, since english isnt my language.
There are 2 volume buttons on the iphone. One of them is an actual button, on the side, and the other one appears on the screen when youre listening to music. The problem is, if i use the volume ''button'' on the screen to turn the volume up, it automatically slides all the way to the left: minimal volume. I can than turn the volume up on the other button on the side. But still, this is really annoying.
Is there anyone who recognizes this problem? Ive tried to reset the iphone when i connect it to my computer, without any result.
I would appreciate some feedback on my problem!
    Sonny

I had a first gen iPhone that had the same problem accept it would go full blast . The volume button had gotten stuck . the switch under the button had collapsed and would not come back up . I would say that you are suffering from the same thing . If your iphone is still under warranty I would take it to an Apple store and have them check/replace the buttons . Hope this helps.

  • Volume button stuck in down position

my volume button is stuck in the down position on the + side.  How can I fix this?  Is there a fix for this?  Appreciate any help.

I had a broken home button within 6 months. It was replaced under warranty. Now I have a broken volume up button less than a year later. They want $65 to fix with 90 day warranty. This is a major defect and they should have recalled these units. It is insane that they are still ignoring this problem and telling people to pay to have it fixed. I'm filing a complaint against Apple.

  • Ipad Volume Button Stuck/Dented

My iPad 2's volume button is stuck/dented, not sure how it happened but it's dented in in the middle and it's stuck on the volume up and I can't click it to turn the volume down. I heard it's expensive to bring it into the store to fix, anyone have ideas how to undent it/unstuck it?
    Thanks!

TThe volume button on an iPad 2 is a rocker type switch. It is lower in the center and that may be what you think is a dent. Try alternately pushing the up or down side of the switch while lightly pushing a little up or down. Hopefully this will free the switch. An Apple technician may be able to correct this problem Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Having a technician look at the iPad won't cost you anything and the switch might be easily fixed.

  • IPad volume button stuck

I purchased my iPad from eBay for a decent price, it was listed as For Parts or Not Working. The only reason it was listed under the condition is because the volume up button is stuck. The rest of the iPad is great! I would rate the body a 9/10 and the screen a 10/10. So far, the only temporary solution I've found is to manually lower the volume, which worked, but I'd like to be able to watch movies and go on YouTube with this thing. The problem with that: when the volume is on, the sound effects icon shows on the screen and won't go away. I tried to chat with customer support already, but the chat window didn't load properly and I don't know if my local Apple store will tell me how much it'll cost to fix without charging me a consultation fee (just to do an online chat, I would've been charged $19!).
So, please, if anyone can tell me what the cost would be to fix the button, I would appreciate the info.
    Thanks!

  • IPad mini top volume button stuck

My son just received the ipad mini for Christmas and the top volume button is stuck. Do I just take this back to the place it was purchased to get it repaired?

Oh, well, it may matter. You would have to ask the retailer what their policy is.

  • YT2 Pro Volume button stuck/boots into safe mode

The Volume down button is stuck on my YT2 Pro and I think this is the reason it now only boots into safe mode.  At first I thought it was an app so I cleared the cach and uninstalled the last 3 apps.  That did not make a difference.   Stil thinking it was a application problem I did a factory reset, nope, still boots into safe mode.   Thats when I noticed that the volume down button is not working.   Anyone else have this issue?   I am calling Lenovo today, w/ the Hard Reset issues and now the volume not working, I think the tablet needs to be replaced.

  • My Iphone 4 keeps trying to turn itself off and also takes random screen shots.  I think it might have something to do with the Sleep/Awake button but any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Iphone is constantly trying to turn itself off and also taking screen shots when I'm not touching it.  I think it may have something to do with the Sleep button but would welcome any suggestions. I have already restored it to Factory settings but it didn't help.

  • IPhone 3GS volume button stuck

We have a 16 month old 8gb iPhone 3Gs and the rocker volume switch is behaving as though you have your finger firmly on 'down'
The screen is displaying the ringer icon pretty much permanently. With a lot of fiddling and patience you can eventually get it to stop but it is extremely annoying.
We have updated the software and done resets but it constantly lowers the volume.
    Any advice please?

Replacement part is Headphone Jack Flex Cable #5, a $5-$10 part. One of most difficult iPhone repairs there is. Before opening and during any repair of iPhone 3GS make sure iPhone is OFF.
