Volume Control Properties errror
I have an issues with opening my Volume Control Properties. Everytime I go to double click on it, I get this error
"The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit."
I have Soundblaster Audigy SE. It worked fine when I had Windows XP, but now that I have Windows 7, it won't open. Any ideas how to fix this?
I unistalled & removed anything creative related, and I downloaded the files from creative instead of using the CD that came w/ my soundcard, and now the Volume Control icon is missing.

[Solved] Can't Start Pulse Audio and No Sound/Volume Controls
Ok, I booted my PC this morning to find I have no sound controls in Gnome Shell after an update yesterday or sound, I have to use alsamixer to unmute, so I am getting sound but no way to control it. I tried killing pulseaudio and restarting but I keep getting the same error:

Satellite L300-147- Manual volume control not working
The manual volume control on the laptop is no longer working. If I try to adjust the volume (on the right the headphone plug-ins)- I just keep scrolling. As a result, I can only watch DVD on a really low volume level. I have adjusted volume control under "control panel" to the maximum level.

Believe me buddy, this is absolutely normal.
I have Satellite L300 too and I can still scroll the volume control although the sound is on lowest level (I can see this in Windows sound properties).
To be honest I didnt have any notebook as yet where the volume control ends on a certain point.

I have a Satellite L505D-S5983 that I received for Christmas. The Volume Control Wheel on the front edge of the laptop turns freely and does not seem to affect the speaker volume. Is this normal or does it require repair or replacement?

The low DVD and CD audio is frustrating. Had problems ever since I bought my L505 series laptop late last year trying to listen to DVD movies. There's a thread about this in the Sound forum where others have low DVD audio output, but no real solution to the issue. The only workaround for these low audio issues seems to be enabling "Loudness Equalization" on the Realtek HD Audio Manager (or Speaker Properties setting) and then using a headset or external speakers to watch a DVD move. There is definitely a problem that has so far been unacknowledged by Toshiba, with either the hardware or with the sound drivers as my previous Toshiba laptop didn't have this low sound problem on DVD movies and audio CD's. -
Lenovo Miix 2 8" - Separating volume controls for headphones and speakers
The sound options for the Miix 2 out the box combine the volume control for internal speakers and for headphone jack, i.e. there is only one volume control for both the speakers and the headphones on the mixer settings at the the volume icon at the lower right hand of the desktop. So when headphones are plugged in, there is still only a "speakers" control shown.
I work in an office and would like to have the speakers muted if the headphones are pulled out.
Similar issues resolved on other devices directed to install an alternate sound driver (that offered separate controls) or pointed to some other settings in the sound driver properties menus where this could be manually done, but I'm having trouble applying any of them to this device.Worked beautifully! If your running Windows 7, the steps are shown below:
Enable Windows 7’s Volume Icon
Right-click an empty space on the taskbar (the bar with the Start Orb and clock) and then click Properties.
Click the Customizebutton in the Notification area section of the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window.
Click Turn system icons on or offat the bottom left of the Notification Area Icons window.
Set the Volume icon’s behavior to On and then click OKto save the changes.

ITunes disables my Windows sounds and takes away the volume control
I have searched and found no answer to this- others have posted this same question.
I installed itunes and it removed my volume control from the task bar. It disabled my Windows sounds and took away the volume control from the System Tray next to clock. My media buttons no longer affect the volume either. I have to go into control panel to change my system volume.
At first- it only happened when my daughter would plug in her iPod and use iTunes, and then after we'd reboot the computer, the volume control would come back and no longer be disabled. Each time she used iTunes, it would happen again. Then a computer restart would bring it back. Now all of a sudden, nothing brings it back. I have to go about 4-5 screens deep into Control Panel to adjust the volume there. This is ridiculous and an absolutely unacceptable side effect of iTunes.
Does someone have an answer or do we need to delete iTunes and never again buy a crappy apple product?

Go to Control Panel -> Sound
In the “Playback” tab, click on your Speakers to highlight it, then click Properties. In the “Advanced” tab, under “Exclusive Mode”, uncheck the box that says “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”. I restarted my computer after that, but I am not sure if you need to.
Then you can go to your taskbar and right-click and choose “Properties”. In the “Notification Area” tab, under System icons, “Volume” is no longer grayed out and you can now check the box to make it show up down near your clock again. -
Problems with volume control, built-in speaker on HP ProBook

Recently installed Arch on a HP ProBook 4330s. Initially sound was working perfectly, but now I'm having problems with the built-in speaker.
Using alsamixer in the terminal, I can independently control the volume of the headphone jack and the speaker, but it seems like the speaker is linked to the headphone volume instead of the speaker volume. Thus raising the speaker volume in alsamixer has no effect on the speaker itself, which only outputs sound as long as the headphone volume is raised and the loopback box is checked. This also means that the speakers cannot be muted while using headphones.
I installed pavucontrol to see if I could gain any insight, but trying to select "Speakers" as output port seems only to have an effect the volume sliders in alsamixer. So no settings in PulseAudio UI could solve my issue.
I have googled wide and far, but haven't found anything helpful. I tried reoading kernel modules snd-hda-intel, snd-hda-codec-idt, snd-hda-codec-generic, but nothing changed.

I don't know of any changes I made to my system that could have caused this. I suspected it might be a problem with the drivers, so I tried to find the appropriate driver at https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentatio … Models.txt

Volume control missing in taskbar
I have a HP G60-235DX laptop. I have noticed that the volume control in the bottom right taskbar is missing. When I right click on the taskbar>properties>notification area, Windows will not allow me to click on volume control. When I go to control panel>sound, I cannot click on default, apply, properties or configure. I can control the volume control with the function & sound keys assocaited wit hthe side number keypad. If anyone knows how to restore this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

UPDATE: After exhausting all options, I turned the laptop off, then back on & the volume control reappeared in the lower right taskbar & all other volume controls are now working properly as usual. Thank you.Hi 333Help,

Control Panel > icon view > Notification Area Icons >
CHECK "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar"
OK
If you want to adjust the settings for some of the Icon Notifications individually:
UNCHECK the setting > go into the Window where the settings are located and select how you want each of the Items to respond... Once you have everything the way you like it, go back...
CHECK "Always show all icons...."
OK

I have a iPhone 3GS 32GB with IPFW 3.1.2 (7D11) but i noticed that there is no option for volume control for bluetooth devices. I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800 and they work great but the music is always so loud. I tried to use the volume limiter and the volume adjuster in iTunes track properties but i was unsuccessful in changing the volume level. It is very annoying on some tracks. Volume control is only available while making calls. Is there a fix for this problem?
The current iPhone bluetooth implementation requires music volume control at the headset. You need a headset with a volume control.

What is the operating system?
In Windows Vista and Windows 7 it is almost identical.
right-click in an empty area of the taskbar and select properties.
Select customize. Now find the volume listing and select
show icon and notifications as in the image as shown highlighted.

The volume control buttons have randomly stopped working on my T61P. Nor can I get the volume control icon to appear in the system tray, where it always used to be. The only way to mute/unmute the computer now is to go through the start button, to accessories, to entertainment. This is highly inconvenient. What can be causing this?

R. Click in an empty place on desktop
L. Click on properties
L. Click selecting the Settings Tab
L. Click selecting Advanced (bottom R.)
L. Click selecting "On Screen Display"
You should then see the options I posted about. If you do not have the Lenovo graphics and HotKey drivers installed, (plus maybe something else), it may be that these options are not available.

on my 1gb nano when i want to raise the volume control i get it to the place to set it,move the bar and hit the center button as instructed.some times it goes back to the previous window and sometimes it goes to the next window where you either set a code or just hit done.then it goes backto the window ahead of the one that the volume control bar is in.hit the button to go to the volume control to check it and its right back where it started.so how do i make it set?this is getting to be a pain.and it is updated with the latest up dates.

Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Recording devices'. Left click the 'Internal Mic' once just to highlight it and then click the Properties button. The controls you require should be on the 'Levels' tab.
NOTE:
If you do not see the option as described above, try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your Audio Driver ( IDT, Connexant etc ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.

Unable to use volume control ipod itouch 5.1.1

itouch didn't have a problem with volume slider until recently. through other websites, i have since located the volume slider in music playing mode by double tapping the home button and scrolling to the left but it lacks any button to scroll to increase the volume. music plays well via a sound dock but that has it's own volume controls. sometimes when docking it plays through the handset speakers until seated correctly so i know the internal speakers do work.
any light on the matter would be very much appreciated!!!I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who was having the same problem as you. Although you say the camera playback is set properly, please recheck this. go into your camera's playback menu>menu>standard set>VCR HDV/DV. Unplug your firewire from the camera. Make sure camera is set to HDV NOT auto. replace firewire cable. Now open FCP. Go in Audio/video settings>A/V devices (farthest tab on right). In box for playback edit to tape different from video output (make sure it's checked) mirrored (checked) Video playback 1080i50, Audio HDV. I hope that works now.

I need help with voice memo and volume control
I really dislike to update my iphone's software. I have Iphone 4S and I have been using voice memo to record lectures for sometime.
It was working well till updated my Iphone's software (IOS or whatever that is). Now I can't transfer my voice memo to my computer
and I have tried so many things people have suggested online which are 1. restart my mac book, 2. turn off and on my Iphone 3.
check voice memo when syncing my iphone with macbook. It is not working. Also, I totally messed my volume control. I went to
Genuis bar and the lady who helped told me that my Iphone has some issues before which is making my Iphone go nuts.
In short, 1. I cannot sync my voicemail
