Volume controls on 1G touch

Since upgrading to 3.1 i've been having problems controlling the volume in my 1G touch. Now this is the touch that doesn't have the external buttons, so before when playing a game I could just twice press home button and the little ipod volume control would pop without exiting the game. Now when I do this on 3.1, it exits the game and brings up the ipod app. This happens too when I used the Stanza app to read a book with audiobook and to stop the audiobook the ipod app comes too. Does this mean the 3.1 is only for newer ipods touches?

internet626, I don't know what your post referred to.
daChibi, the features that you can set in settings won't do what Mell was asking for.
Here's a rundown of new and exciting features options for the home button. You can double click to:
Bring up the home screen (which is really disabling double click, since you're making the feature identical to single click)
Bring up the search screen (which you can already do with two single clicks)
Bring up the actual ipod app (which you could previously do by bringing up the pop up controls then selecting music).
If you find these options slightly less functional than the old ability to bring up pop-up controls without having to exit an app, even when there's no music currently playing, make sure you've submitted feedback. http://www.apple.com/feedback

  • No Volume Control on iPod touch! Help me please!

Last night I was going to watch a YouTube video on my iPod. My volume had been all the way down, so I tried to use the side buttons to turn it up, but it didn't work. I then noticed that the slide bar volume control wasn't available either. I've done some research on the web and can't seem to find a solution. I have the Best Buy warranty on my iPod, but I've went through heck with repairs on a previous iPod before, and I'd rather not have to ship this one to Dallas for Best Buy to fix it unless I have to.

No, I'm about to though. However, from what I've read online, this is a common problem and a reset/restore won't fix it. But I'm going to try.

  • The volume control on my ipod touch 4th Gen is gone, what should I do?

I have to do this all over again just to listen to my songs. Also, when I try to play it on loudspeaker, the volume control is missing again. I already restore my ipod but it is still the same. My OS is up to date so my itunes are. what should I do? Does somebody experiencing the same? Somebody help. Thanks

Try #2 and #3 in link below. If neither work, you most likely have a hardware issue.

  • Ipod touch 1st Gen, no volume control after update to 3.1.2

So i just upgraded my ipod touch to 3.1.2 which cost about $6, and the volume control is missing( even with the headphones plugged in).
How can i fix this? i dont want to do a restore and not have the firmware i just paid for.

The recovery at a XP-PC was successful! So it's clearly a driver issue.
For he ones who have a similar problem, but without the two "Recovery Mode - Devices" in the device manager, I had this problem, too. But it was easier to solve.
Look for your iPod in the device manager. It can be found in "Portable devices". Let your Windows (even 7) update the driver online. That helped in my case. But only till I tried the firmware update... :-/
So be careful! If you want to update the software of your iPod Touch or iPhone, too, I think, on a Windows 7 machine, make sure, that you have another PC with an older OS in reach!
I hope I could help somebody till Apple releases some compatible drivers...

  • Ipod Touch Gen 1 and   3.1.3 volume control

Im pretty annoyed at the latest firmware upgrade, the completely removes onscreen volume control. and the ipod touch 1st generation has no side buttons for it, making this now impossible for me to change without going into an app that has volume in it.
Before it was bad enough because I could not double click my button to enter the volume control/song change quick menu unless music was already playing, but I got around it.
I'm pretty disappointed with apples lack of support for earlier versions. Not only that, but I can find absolutely no feedback forms for anything other than itunes and the website.

I seem to recall that this issue only exists when there is nothing plugged into the headphone jack -- if you plug something in then you should have volume control. I guess the problem would be if you use an FM transmitter, is that the case?

  • Updated ipod touch 3G to ios 5.0.1 and only have volume control with headphones doesnt work in bose dock anymore

I just updated my 3G ipod touch to ios 5.0.1 and lost volume control except when headphones are used, it will no longer work in my speaker dock, any suggestions?

    - iOS 5 seems to have messed up connecting with Bose docks:
Re: iPhone 4 upgraded to iOS5, now Bose SoundDock not working
    - Have you tried the standard fixes
--- Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    --- Restore from backup
--- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod

  • My ipod touch thinks headsets are plugged in as indicated when pressing volume control.  We did a reset but that did not work.  What is next?

My ipod touch thinks headsets are plugged in as indicated when pressing volume control.  We did a reset but that did not work.  What is next?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • G530 Touch sensitive volume control panel

After a quick reformat of my G530, the touch sensitive volume control panel (four black circular buttons in the upper right part above the keyboard) still works but the volume up/down buttons are in slow increments of 2% whereas before blue rectangular sound bars showed up on the screen when pressed and the sound increased by increments of 10%.
Where can I find the drivers for the touch sensitive volume control panel? I've looked everywhere but can't find them.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Is the Ipod Touch power button also a volume control?

Ever since I got my iPod Touch, whenever I press the power button, the volume goes up one level. I never thought anything of it until I started wanting to take screen shots and the volume control icon ends up in the picture, which is REALLY annoying and no one else seems to know why.  I read around under apple support and in discussions, and no one else seems to have this problem. Is this normal? And how can I fix it?
I added a screen shot that I took on my iPod Touch so you know what I mean by volume control icon.

    No it is not

  • 2G Touch: Music is far too loud. Volume controls don't work.

My Touch is very new and it looks like there is stuff I don't understand yet.
When I play my music, any track, it's way too loud and is injurious to hearing.
I have slid the volume slider all the way to the left. No result. The slider does nothing.
I have used the volume buttons on the left of the Touch. No effect. Way too loud.
I have used the Volume Limiter in Settings>Music. It's all the way to the left. No effect.
Clearly the Touch must not be used to listen to music until I get my volume control working.
"Reset all settings" has no effect on the volume problem.
    Any Suggestions?

    OMG! Found it. Very unintuitive.
The Touch volume controls do not work if the 'Pod is sat in the Apple Universal Cradle. I was using the cradle without the USB cable.
That makes little sense to me.

  • ITouch 1st gen OS 3.1.2 - missing touch volume control

Does anyone know if apple has made it possible to upgrade the 1st gen iTouch to OS 3.1.2 without losing the volume controls? I have read some people saying that they are missing volume controls and others just forgot to plug in their headphones. Does the iTouch volume control work on a 1st gen? I really hope that I don't have to upgrade hardware to get the new OS. Any help would be appreciated. Also, is it possible to downgrade firmware to a version that supports touch volume, if it's necessary?

I tried restarting my iPod Touch by holding down the top button until it gives the option to power off. This didn't seem to help, as there was still "no volume available", however, when I moved the iPod Touch from the dock and plugged the jack directly into the port, the volume control reappeared immediately, and when I moved it back to the dock, it stayed present and is still there now. Earlier today, when I used my headphones, there was also "no volume available", so perhaps power cycling did help?

  • Touch Volume Control

Hi..I got a little problem on the touch volume control when i'm using the ipod. I tried to adjust the volume(increase or decrease) but the blue dot always goes back to its place..(No problem with the volume control on the side..)can somebody advise me what to do..thanks in advance..

Try just resetting the phone...hold the Home and Slep button and continue holding them after the slider appears on-screen, until the phone switches off.
Then switch back on with the top button again. That should sort it
