Volume curve for multiple tracks?

I'm just learning to score films with GarageBand. My first snag is that I want to be able to adjust volume curves on multiple tracks without affecting the audio track of the movie. Is this possible? It's kind of a bother to have to create control points for EACH track that are all identical and then having to adjust them individually. The Master Volume doesn't help, because the movie track follows it unless there's some way to lock it out. Thanks!
Also, any good tutorials out there for scoring movies with GarageBand?

you can not.
the only workaround i can think of would be to create a volume curve on one track, and then duplicate that track as many times as needed, and drag the regions of your other tracks into these duplicated tracks.

  • Audio Volume Sliders for multiple channels of audio

I don't even know if this is possible, but I was wondering if
there was any way you can set up volume sliders to control multiple
channels of audio. For a project I'm working on I am going to have
background audio and comentary. I want the user to be able to
adjust the volume of both the background audio and the comentary.
Is there any was I can make seperate sliders for each of those
    tracks of audio?
    Thanks!

  • Can I lock the volume curve to the track so it moves with the track?

I can't seem to move the volume curve when I move the section or track. Is it possible to lock the volume curve to the track or section? Otherwise I have to recreate the curve for that section or track which seems so completely inefficient that I can't imagine that is how it is supposed to be done.
    Thank you!

    here, this should help:

  • JAR Files for multiple tracks

    Hi All,
We have a scenario where we need to provide JAR files which needs to be accessible by all the tracks. Is there any solution which is being followed.
In the current landscape we have built external library DC's for each track and trying to access the JARS. But the limitation where we are struck up is this DC is being only accessible to DC's in that track but not to the remaining tracks.
Is there a global solution where we i can make my JAR file can be made accessible to multiple tracks.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Lokesh Kamana.

    Hi,
    Thats a good idea.
I have a SC component created in SLD and create a track for this and copy the ext lib DC to this track.
Define outbound connections for moving transports.
But how to create an SCA file for my DC.
ANS:-Just by clicking on assembly get a SCA file for this track and as outbound connection is defined this SCA gets moved to my track import that to all my tracks where i carry out my development.
While moving the transports to other environments do i need to move this SCA file also along with them.
Please let me know whether my understanding is correct or not.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Cannot select Get Info for multiple tracks

I  just updated to Lion 10.7.3 and iTunes 10.6.1 and imported my Leopard iTunes Library. I can Get Info on individual tracks but when I shift select or command select multiple tracks the iTunes window turns gray and nothing can be selected. iTunes just freezes until I press the Escape key. So far, everything else works as expected - the only problem is selecting multiple tracks (which worked fine for me on previous OS and iTunes versions).
I haven't found any reports of similar problems so maybe I'm doing it wrong.
    Any suggestions?

I solved my own problem - the last time I used iTunes was on a two monitor system. I still have the second monitor connected but it was turned off and the iTunes Get Info window for MULTIPLE selected items was opening on the second monitor. When I did a Get Info on a single selection, the window appeared on the main monitor normally - behavior which never made me think that multiple items would show up in a different window on the turned off monitor.

  • Piano rolls for multiple tracks

    Hi,
is it possible to get Logic to open 2 or more piano rolls for different tracks at the same time? It would help with editing if so.
    Cheers

Yes, it is possible. Command-6 opens a new piano roll window for whatever region is selected. You'll have to make sure the Link button (top left of the PR window) is unchecked (not yellow) though, or else the open PR window will automatically jump to show the contents of whatever region you select.

  • Loop length for multiple tracks

Is there a way to set the length of loop repitition, for different tracks?
I tried this the other day, with two tracks that I set up to loop, and when I adjusted the loop length in the top of the arrange window, both tracks were affected.
I want to have one track loop 5 measures, and the second track only 3 but am not sure how to do that.
Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks
    RH3906

This is how I do it. Select the track, click on the midi/audio file you have dragged to the track. Then click the 'loop' check box (top left). This will loop the sample all the way to the 'end'. Now simply hover your pointer over where each loop sample is joined and the pointer should change to a different icon - kind of an arrow in a half loop. Now if you click on the sample when you have this pointer you can now drag back and forth where you want the loop to end. Do this for the other track, you can choose how many bars you want it to loop.
What you cant do is set up a loop all the way to the end and make 'holes', that is parts where the loop doesn't happen.
If you want a loop to start again in a different place, simply drag the sample to the new starting location and repeat above.
    Hope this helps.

  • Balancing audio levels for multiple tracks in PP CS6 ...

I have a relatively long home movie (1:50) with clips from multiple cameras dispersed throughout.   One of the camera's audio is far lower than the rest.    What is the easiest/fastest way for a consumer editor to get a reasonable result?  Doesn't have to be perfect, but eliminating the need to hold the TV volume button is the goal.   I'm guessing some of you out there have dealt with this issue a few times and can give me a boost.
I've seen some tutorial videos on using the Audio Mixer, but that appears to adjust volume for an entire track.   I suppose an option here is to manually move all of the quieter clips' audio tracks to a different track number and then use the mixer to adjust.   Trial and error I assume to get it right.
Another video I found shows balancing by pulling up clips one by one into Soundbooth and then processing them together.  I don't own Soundbooth unless it ships with CS6 and I didn't know to install it.  I like the concept though - some way to normalize (if the right term) the volume, although certainly I want some variance so that when someone is shouting or screaming the volume is still higher.
Other videos show adjustments to the volume level by dragging the little yellow volume line on a clip by clip basis inside the track display.   Easy enough, but if I end up deciding I want to make further adjustments I have to go back through all the clips again.   I suppose one advantage here is that those quieter clips sometimes run in batches so could use key frames.
    Feedback?

Just closing the loop here ...
I ended up doing the separate track and audio mixer volume adjustment with some individual clip gain tweaks.   Turns out one of my cameras was quiet and another loud, so I used three audio tracks in my movie, one for footage from each camera (luckily the two offenders were more limited).   The nice thing about this approach is that adjustments are easy to make across the board.
On the 6db volume gain, turns out that was enough.  Maybe someone has some input here, but I find that watching video on my TV with my surround sound system the volume levels are way more sensitive than my PC.   Ok, not 100% - there were a couple of clips where I upped the gain as well.
The gain adjustment and looking at the waveform diagram is very useful for getting an idea of what level of adjustment is required.   So I did make use of this feature to get feedback on how to adjust the volume level noted above.
If I was really serious, I would have done a bunch of marking key frames and adjusting the volume within the clips.   One of my cameras is really loud when the person filming speaks but the other subjects are much softer.  But I took an 80/20 approach and the movie is a little loud in some spots and a little soft in others, but not so much that I have to adjust the volume button.  It would be tedious to edit all the footage in this way.   Although I did make use of the key frames for some background music.
Needles: I was looking for a consumer level solution, although admittedly didn't investigate what you suggested.

  • Multiple Screens for Multiple Tracks....?

    HI there,
I am working on a Multiple Camera shoot, Which mean I have a few Video Tracks I'm syncing up to the audio tracks in order to make sure the video is synced up. I need to know if there is a way to open a window for each Video track to play at the same time While I am editing, and allowing me to fade or switch between them without having to split the main picture in order to see them.
If anyone has any Ideas of how this can be done, it will save me a bunch of time looking into the manual for hours.

It's called Multiclip and divides the Viewer into separate simulated monitors.
Lots of info in the manual, now that you know what to look for.

  • Volume adjust for multiple regions

This is probably very simple but I'm looking for a way to adjust the volume of multiple selected regions. Is there a hold-down key for this?

There are a couple of quick ways...
    1. Select all your audio you want to adjust and press optioncommandL, then enter the value in the pop-up box that appears.
    2. Select all your audio you want to adjust and hold down control, then press '+' or '-' which will increase/decrease the volume by 1 respectively. Obviously, the more you tap '+' or '-' the more/less the volume will change.

  • Master Levels for multiple tracks on one CD

working on an LP. of course, i would like all songs to be of the same volume/presence. how can i do this. with the little scrub volume marker on the lower right? i always thought it was levels for simply listening, but just realized it must be for the sake of Exporting to iTunes as well, right? i know you can adjust the master vol and master pitch via the track, but what role does the scrub marker in the lower right hand corner play?
    thanks!!!

It's exactly what you think it is, it sets the final playing and exported level of the entire mix. To get all songs to sound like they're at a similar level you use the Master volume control with Compression, or limiting with-in GB. Using other software for proper mastering you might likely use a combination of Compression/EQ/Limiting.
Search the web for "Mastering" to learn more.

  • Can't figure out how to increase tempo curve for a track/region

    What I'm trying to accomplish:
Using the heartbeat.aif (Audio) that comes with Logic Pro, I'd like to have the affect of increasing the speed of the heartbeat over a defined period of time.
I've tried the "time machine" to change the BPM but it operates on the current selection in a region (there is no curve over time option). I've tried using Tempo Operations (Temp Curve) but those don't appear to work well with Audio files -- at least I was not able to get it to work well (suggestions are welcome).
What would be perfect is an Automation process that includes Tempo where I could draw the tempo change line and then capture that to a new region (via the Sample Editor).
As a temporary solution I could use the Time Machine to change smaller sections of the original source heartbeat.aif and do increment renders (i.e. 120.00 +50%, 120.00 + 100%, 120.00 + 150% and then merge the regions into one. But this does NOT provide a very smooth transition.
Also tried adding a Tempo Fader and connecting it to Audio track, but adjusting tempo using this method caused all kinds of undesirable results even if I recorded to file and tried to use the resulting audio file.
There must be something simple I'm missing -- any suggestions?
    Thanks, Rob.

Yes this is an Apple Loop (Heartbeat.aiff).
I must be missing something, I can't find any place in Logic Pro that lets me draw the Tempo?
Are you talking about: Options | Tempo | Tempo Operations
from here selecting "Create Tempo Curve"?
If so, I can't find a way to actually draw the curve from here -- unless I'm missing something? I can select a pre-defined set of 3 curve types. I've tried this approach but didn't get the results I expected -- I'm guessing the Curvature value needs to be 1.0? In fact, the only values this field accepts is 1, 0, or -1. Manual indicates positive or negative to increase/decrease speed. I can change the resolution from 1/1 to 1/8 to a finer change.
Regardless, I've experimented with this and no matter what I do, the audio region will change in the Arrange window but when I play the modified heartbeat it still sounds exactly the same, no change in tempo?? Is this a bug or am I just not doing something right?
    Thanks, Rob.

  • Can't delete metadata for multiple tracks in iTunes 12

Hi. I have about 20 tracks in iTunes and I want to delete the metadata on all of them at once, something I've done a thousand times on prior versions of iTunes. I select the tracks, hit Apple-I, and make global changes, i.e. deleting all the track numbers or clearing out the composer box, etc. But now, it's not happening. I click into the box, hit Delete, the grey dash will disappear, but when I go to another box, the dash returns and when I leave the Info dialog, the boxes aren't empty.
However, when I do the same thing to the tracks individually, it works.
Is there an extra step that I'm missing, one that's new to iTunes 12?
    Thx!

Same issue.  The error says not enough space for me -- go to settings to alter. Takes me to storage -- and the video is not listed as using storage!
I have 8 episodes stuck there -- some even play -- but none will swipe to delete.  To test I did swipe to delete a video podcast -- no problem.  Just my TV Shows seem to be permanent fixtures.
Connected to the computer to see what ITunes showed as installed TV Shows on the device -- nothing there...!!!

  • Volume Licensing For Multiple Computers + Users

I need to know how many licenses I would need for 25 people working in a design firm. I know that purchasing a physical copy means it can be used on two computers, but not a the same time.
Would you need one of these licenses:
    http://volumelicensing.adobe.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetai lsPage&SiteID=adbevlus&Locale=en_US&ThemeID=1252500&Env=BASE&productID=108113400
for one designer? So would you need to purchase 25 individual licenses?
    Thanks

Oh additionally, if a new version of it came out (CS5) would the licenses from the previous versions still apply, or would they have to be re-purchased.
