Volume decrease when compressing to MP3

So I have my song all finished and fine-tuned, but when I send the song to iTunes, the volume is turned down substantially to what I have when I play the track in GarageBand. So am I doing something wrong, or am I stuck with this quiet track?

In GB Preferences>Advanced make sure Auto-Normalize is unchecked. (Even though it claims to export at full loudness it actually can reduce the overall volume).
(Also make sure your iTunes volume is up).

!st Gen Touch. Running 3.1.2. Have already Reset (100x) and also completely restored iPod.
1. While playing any song it will mysteriously pause itself. Push Play it will play for seconds and then pause itself.
2. Volume is very low when volume bar is hidden. Once bar is visual it increases by itself. Also, getting the volume bar to be visual is often difficult.
3. Volume seems to be an issue with other apps as well. The volume will increase and then decrease in other apps it seems when you have a constant touch on the screen (but not all the time).
It appears to me these are new "features/bugs" in the newest version of software.
Any fixes?
Has anyone tried to restore last version and problems go away? If so, how does one restore older versions?

I'm having exactly the same issues. It's frustrating as it seems to work if you hit it a bit, but then will randomly lose it! There must be others this has happened to. Does anyone have the answer?

Volume level when exporting

Hi guys,
I have a question about the volume level when exporting a project to .mp3.
I seems that the volume level when exported is a lot lower then the volume level on the rest of my music i iTunes. When trying to enhance the volume level with 3rd party software the sound quality becomes rubish. I tried everything that I could think of but nothing seems to work.
Is there anyway to adjust the volume level when exporting to take care of this problem?

Dither when bouncing to mp3?

Back in 2008, someone noticed that Logic does not provide any dithering options on an MP3 bounce.
To answer his questions, the lossy MP3 compression adds more noise than dither, so you really should start with a 24-bit master and convert directly to MP3 without any dither. The reason Logic doesn't offer the option is because you should not be using dither.
I regularly use Logic to bounce a mixing and mastering session directly to MP3 or AAC so that the client can hear it with minimal bandwidth. The only issue I have is whether 48 kHz or 44.1 kHz will be appropriate for my client.
In a little more detail, dither is basically the process of adding noise to a signal so that the bit depth can be reduced without significantly increasing the existing quantization noise. On a 24-bit file (from the 32-bit Logic mix) dither adds noise at about -144 dB, which is incredibly low. Dither on a 16-bit adds noise at about -96 dB. In both of those cases, POW-r dither uses noise shaping to hide this added dither noise behind the existing audio frequencies, hoping that you won't hear anything. When you compress to MP3, the lossy process results in noise that is much stronger than -96 dB, but it still tries to hide behind the audio in much the same way as POW-r (give or take some proprietary algorithms).
In other words, you don't need dither because MP3 is basically an equivalent process.

Other Program Auto Volume Decrease

To Mac users,
While using another program like that of Pot Player, VLC Player, iTunes, or any other media player, the volume automatically decreases for that program at the time of an incoming call and when it is answered via skype. How do I disable this from happening?
Please this is specifically for normal Mac operating systems, not Windows. I know full well for Windows you need to go through the Sounds, Communications, and disable the function.

You don't, if you have music playing, how else are you going to hear the alerts if the music doesn't decrease?

Try A and B
(A) Restart iPad
1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
2. Drag the slider to turn off iPad.
3. Turn iPad back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears
(B) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Music drop outs / stutter when listening to MP3s or Internet Radio with Verizon Media Manager

Does anybody know when I play MP3s or listen to Internet Radio I'm getting slight drop out or stutter?
I just downloaded and installed the Verizon Media Manager on a machine running Windows 7.
Any help would be appreciated.

The volume limit is preset so yes you are unable to alter the volume on the iPad however you can control the volume on your tv and if you have AirPlay speakers you are able to adjust your volume as well..

Ipod resets when selecting certain mp3 files

my ipod video 5th generation resets when selecting certain mp3 files ???? As well as certain video podcasts . Whats the deal anyone ?

Is Apple working on a "real" fix for this bug or do we have to live with limited use of our iPod resources?
No one on here really knows (the creators of the programs and software do not visit the Discussions), but Apple could possibly provide a fix in the future. It may not be very "high on their list" of iPod feedback requests of new features, and bug fixes, though, since this isn't an incredibly common problem.

Why is Compressor freezing when compressing?

Hi,
I would really appreciate help with this problem. Compressor has recently started freezing / getting stuck when compressing. This happened a couple of years ago and was resolved by using Compressor Repair 1.1.3. I've tried the Repair programme but, on this occasion, the problem is not solved. I'm using Compressor 3.0.5 on a MacBook Pro OSX 10.5.8. When Compressor froze today, I was compressing a 3GB QT movie using the H.264 codec.
I would appreciate any and all advice please.

Describe in detail what happens when it freezes…whether the app crashes or whether the process hangs – or something else.
Try a short section of another movie with the same job settings to see whether it completes. (WHat is the codec of the QT movie you refer to in your initial post?)

I see you are experiencing issues with sound on applications when playing video/audio content. If this is the case, the first thing I would check is if the side switch is set to silent as this can cause applications to be mute. Below I have included an article that covers adjusting the settings for the side switch. Also, make sure to close all applications in Multitasking and power cycle the device. Test the sound issue after processing these steps.

Error when compressing domain file

This is probably a rare one, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
I just recently started getting an error message stating +"An error occurred adding "" to the archive"+ when compressing an iWeb domain file. Long story short, I pass this file back and forth with a business partner, and to help maintain its integrity, and to be able to upload it to and from iDisk, we compress it first.

Logging out and back in will allow the file to be compressed with no issues.
I'm running 10.5.8 and iWeb '09 v. 3.0.1. Any help is appreciated.

-36 an I/O error when compressing MP4 files

I am using QT 7 Pro and attempting to compress MP4 files so as to load them on my iPhone without large file sizes. When compressing via export --> Movie to MPEG-4 --> MP4 --> MPEG-4 Basic it will get to 99% and then give me the below error:
-36 and I/O error.
Please advise how to resolve this or perhaps a better way to compress MP4 files for use on the iPhone

I did examply same and getting same error anytime I tried to open a file. Did you get any response on the issue, that may help me?

It sounds like you are setting the volume to the desired level, but it keeps going all the way down on its own after some time. I would start by resetting the iPod Nano 6th gen:
Reset your iPod
Test the issue again after resetting to see if that resolved it. If it does not, then I would next recommend using the following article to restore the software and try it again.
