Volume Disappears.
About 50% of time using my iphone, it does not allow me to control the volume. It sets itself to mute and hides all volume control options.
There is no ringer volume, no volume control in music player nor videos, notification centre stops also.
The phone is not set to mute. U may be hearing a song and suddenly the volume bar disappear and the volume as well. This happens since the last software update.
Reset your phone first, hold the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up. If the problem still persists, then restore your phone in itunes from your backup by connecting to itunes, then right click on your phones name to the left, then click restore from backup.

PLEASE HELP!!! My Macintosh HD volume disappeared
Ok, here's the deal...
I have a Powerbook 15" and I was trying to get it to recognize an HP printer because for some reason it didn't find the device.
So I wrote HP and they gave me some instructions wich I decided to follow (huge mistake!).
They included getting rid of some Preferences, some Caches and other things, and then to run the DISK UTILITY and do a REPAIR DISK PERMISSIONS.
I did all that but while in the Repair Disk Permissionas the computer froze for over an hour, so I performed a hard reset.
When the computer started again it didn´t find a Start up Volume.
I then started from the Tiger Installation CD, ran the Disk Utility from there...
and what is my surprise when I see that my hardrive appear but not my Macintosh HD Volume.
So...
I can´t do any repairing because the volume is not there
I can´t do a FireWire Transfer of Files because there´s no volume to connect
I can´t even Install again the System because there´s no destination volume
PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP!!!!
I´m desperate
Thanks in advance to all,
n.Hi naxpal and welcome to Apple Discussions,
As I was reading through your post I was noticing that I also had a problem similar to that about a month ago. The only thing different is that my Macintosh HD was there (where the OS was installed), but my second partition volume disappeared. I was wondering when it happened if my data was gone for ever, but it took me a few days to figure out what to do:
1) In your case, start up from your Tiger Installation CD.
2) Open Disk Utility and look in the list on the left for Macintosh HD.
3) If it is in the list, select it, and click Mount.
4) Quit Disk Utility.
5) Restart your PowerBook G4 holding the option key.
6) If Macintosh HD is available, select it and press the arrow on the right.
7) If you got to this step, you are all set and all you have to do is eject your Tiger Installation CD.
I hope this helps you.

Cluster Shared Volume disappeared after taking the volume offline for Validation Tests.
Hi,
After an unknown issue with one of our Hyper-V 4 Node cluster running on Server 2008 R2 SP1 with fibre channel NEC D3-10 SAN Storage all our cluster shared volumes were in redirecting mode and I was unable to get them back online. Only after rebooting all
the nodes one by one the disks came back online. Eventlog messages indicated that I had to test my cluster validation. After shutting down all the virtual machines I set all the cluster shared volumes offline and started the complete validation test. The following
warnings/errors appeared during the test.
An error occurred while executing the test.
An error occurred retrieving the
disk information for the resource 'VSC2_DATA_H'.
Element not found (Validate Volume Consistency Test)
Cluster disk 4 is a Microsoft MPIO based disk
Cluster disk 4 from node has 4 usable path(s) to storage target
Cluster disk 4 from node has 4 usable path(s) to storage target
Cluster disk 4 is not managed by Microsoft MPIO from node
Cluster disk 4 is not managed by Microsoft MPIO from node (Validate Microsoft MPIO-based disks test)
SCSI page 83h VPD descriptors for cluster disk 4 and 5 match (Validate SCSI device Vital Product Data (VPD) test)
After the test the cluster shared volume was disappeared (the resource is online).
Cluster events that are logged
Cluster physical disk resource 'DATA_H' cannot be brought online because the associated disk could not be found. The expected signature of the disk was '{d6e6a1e0-161e-4fe2-9ca0-998dc89a6f25}'. If the disk was replaced or restored, in the Failover Cluster
Manager snap-in, you can use the Repair function (in the properties sheet for the disk) to repair the new or restored disk. If the disk will not be replaced, delete the associated disk resource. (Event 1034)
Cluster disk resource found the disk identifier to be stale. This may be expected if a restore operation was just performed or if this cluster uses replicated storage. The DiskSignature or DiskUniqueIds property for the disk resource has been corrected.
(Event 1568)
In disk management the disk is unallocated, unknown, Reserved. When the resource is on one node and i open disk management i get the warning that i have to initialize the disk. I did not do this yet.
Reading from other posts i think that the partition table got corrupted but i have no idea how to get it back. I found the following information but it's not enough for me to go ahead with: Using a tool like TestDisk to rewrite the partition table. then
rewriting the uniqueID to the disk brought everything back. But still no explaination as to why we had our "High Availability" Fail Over cluster down for nearly 2 Days. This happened to us twice within the past week.
Anybody that an idea how to solve this? I think my data is still intact.
Thanx for taking the time to read this.
DJITS.Hi,
Error information you provided indicate disk connection failure issue, please confirm shared disk 4 is available:
To review hardware, connections, and configuration of a disk in cluster storage:
On each node in the cluster, open Disk Management (which is in Server Manager under Storage) and see if the disk is visible from one of the nodes (it should be visible from one node but not multiple nodes). If it is visible to
a node, continue to the next step. If it is not visible from any node, still in Disk Management on a node, right-click any volume, click Properties, and then click the Hardware tab. Click the listed disks or LUNs to see if all expected disks or LUNs appear.
If they do not, check cables, multi-path software, and the storage device, and correct any issues that are preventing one or more disks or LUNs from appearing. If this corrects the overall problem, skip all the remaining steps and procedures.
Review the event log for any events that indicate problems with the disk. If an event provides information about the disk signature expected by the cluster, save this information and skip to the last step in this procedure.
To open the failover cluster snap-in, click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Failover Cluster Management. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and
then click Continue.
In the Failover Cluster Management snap-in, if the cluster you want to manage is not displayed, in the console tree, right-click Failover Cluster Management, click Manage a Cluster, and then select or specify the cluster that
you want.
If the console tree is collapsed, expand the tree under the cluster you want to manage, and then click Storage.
In the center pane, find the disk resource whose configuration you want to check, and record the exact name of the resource for use in a later step.
Click Start, point to All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
Type:
CLUSTER RESOURCE DiskResourceName /PRIV >path\filename.TXT
For DiskResourceName, type the name of the disk resource, and for path\filename, type a path and a new filename of your choosing.
Locate the file you created in the previous step and open it. For a master boot record (MBR) disk, look in the file for DiskSignature. For a GPT disk, look in the file for DiskIdGuid.
Use the software for your storage to determine whether the signature of the disk matches either the DiskSignature or DiskIdGuid for the disk resource. If it does not, use the following procedure to repair the disk configuration.

Volumes disappeared from DFS replication
Hi all,
Recently I set up DFS replication on Windows 2012 Std Server. Few days ago I tried to connect the 3rd server to this replication and found out that all volumes except C:\ drive are disappeared from DFS replication on the main server, so it can't do initial
replication.
When I go to DFS snap-in and create Diagnostic report for the replication - it shows me available volumes on every server - C:\ drive only for the main one and all volumes for other servers. Shares on the main server are up and running without any problems.
So the question is how to add the volumes back to DFS replication, any ideas?
Kind regards,
Artem.Hi,
It seems that DFS replication can't sync between the main server and the second server. I suggest you recreate the replication group to resolve the issue. If there is any error message in the diagnostic report or event log? If so, please provide the error message
to troubleshoot the issue.
Please also refer to the thread below to see if it helps:

Volume disappearing when earphones are out
My brother's iTouch becomes silent when you take the headphones out and the volume control disappears; it doesn't let you play songs out loud. What happened? Is there some setting to change or whatever?
@Clayton Rhoades
After reading almost all threads related to this problem, I don't think its a feature in ipod touches 2g and 3g coz whats the use now of the built-in speaker if they will not be used? You get my point? and it used to work before. I've read somewhere here that it has been feature in 1G after updating in software 3.0, but not in 2G and 3G!
@all
Just to tell you that this happened to me instantly on software 3.1.0, I even tried to reset, restart and restore and even upgraded to software 3.1.2 but no use! It looks like a common problem here in ipod touches.
The bad thing is that I'm in the Philippines and we don't have an Apple Store here only resellers and I need to ship my unit to Singapore to claim warranty! So I need to pay shipping fees myself which is already a burden to me. This is my first apple product and I never expected a popular device from a well respected company would have this issues from a unit which is 2months old! I don't know whether its an hardware issue or software but this is just frustrating. -

Hi all, I am having an issue hopefully someone can help me with. I have recently inherited a 2 node cluster,
both nodes are one half of an ASUS
RS702D-E6/PS8 so both nodes should be near identical. They are both running Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 hosting some 14 VM's.
Each node is hooked up via cat5e to a Promise
VessRAID 1830i via iSCSI using one of the servers onboard NICs each, whose cluster network is setup as Disabled for cluster use (the way I think it is supposed to be not the way I had originally inherited it) on it's own Class A Subnet and on it's own
private physical switch...
The SAN hosts a 30GB CSV Witness Disk and 2 2TB CSV Volumes, one for each node labeled Volume1 and Volume2. Some VHD's on each.
The Cluster Clients connect to the rest of the company via the Virtual ExternalNIC adapters created in Hyper-V manager but physically are off of Intel ET Dual Gigabit adapters
wired into our main core switch which is set up with class c subnets.
I also have a crossover cable wired up running to the other ports on the Intel ET Dual Port NICs using yet a third Class B Subnet and is configured in the Failover Cluster
Manger as internal so there are 3 ipv4 Cluster networks total.
Even though the cluster passes the validation tests with flying colors I am not convinced all is well. With Hyperv1 or node 1,
I can move the CSV's and machines over to hyperv2 or node 2, stop the cluster service on 1 and perform maintenance such as a reboot or install patches if needed. When it reboots or I restart the cluster service to bring it back online,
it is well behaved leaving hyperv2 the owner of all 3 CSV's Witness, Volume 1 and 2. I can then pass them back or split them up any which way and at no point is cluster service interrupted or noticed by users, duh I know this is how it is SUPPOSED to work
but...
if I try the same thing with Node 2, that is move the witness and volumes to node 1 as owner and migrate all VM's over, stop cluster service on node 2, do whatever I have
to do and reboot, as soon as node 2 tries to go back online, it tries to snatch volume 2 back, but it never succeeds and then the following error is logged in cluster event log:
Hyperv1
Event ID: 5120
Source: Microsoft-Windows-FailoverClustering
Task Category: Cluster Shared Volume
The listed message is:
Cluster Shared Volume 'Volume2' ('HyperV1 Disk') is no longer available on this node because of 'STATUS_MEDIA_WRITE_PROTECTED(c00000a2)'. All I/O will temporarily be queued until
a path to the volume is reestablished.
Followed 4 seconds later by:
Hyperv1
event ID: 1069
Source: Microsoft-Windows-FailoverClustering
Task Catagory: Resource Control Manager
Message: Cluster Resource 'Hyperv1 Disk in clustered service or application '75d88aa3-8ecf-47c7-98e7-6099e56a097d'

Hyperv1
event ID: 1038
Source: Microsoft-Windows-FailoverClustering
Task Catagory: Physical Disk Resource
Message: Ownership of cluster disk 'HyperV1 Disk' has been unexpectedly lost by this node. Run the Validate
a Configuration wizard to check your storage configuration.
Followed 1 second later by another 1069 and then various machines are failing messages.
If you browse to
\\hyperv-1\c$\clusterstorage\ or
\\hyperv-2\c$\Clusterstorage\, Volume 2 is indeed missing!!
This has caused me to panic a few times as the first time I saw this I thought everything was lost but I can get it back by stopping the service on node 1 or shutting it
down, restarting node 2 or the service on node 2 and waiting forever for the disk to list as failed and then shortly thereafter it comes back online. I can then boot node 1 back up and let it start servicing the cluster again. It doesn’t pull the same
craziness node 2 does when it comes online; it leaves all ownership with 2 unless I tell I to move.
I am very new to clusters and all I know at this point is this is pretty cool stuff but basically if it is running don’t mess with it is the attitude I have taken
with it but there is a significant amount of money tied up in this hardware and we should be able to leverage this as needed, not wonder if it is going to act up again.
To me it seems for a ‘failover’ cluster it should be way more robust than this...
I can go into way more detail if needed but I didn’t see any other posts on this specific issue no matter what forum I scoured. I’m obviously looking for advice
on how to get this resolved as well as advice on whether or not I wired the cluster networks correctly. I am also not sure about what protocols are bound to what nics anymore and what the binding order should be, could this be what is causing my issue?
I have NVSPBIND and NVSPSCRUB on both boxes if needed.
Thanks!
-LWHello Ravikumar,
Thanks about your attention!
All disks are Online, see below the status of disks, but the problem continues, any ideas?
PS.: For your information, all disks are delivered to hosts by SAN/HBA and all tests from Cluster Validation are passed.

Mavericks FileVault 2 Issue - Logical Volume Disappeared
I have a drive out of a damaged, late 2011 MacBook Pro that was FV2 encrypted. I have the password and key and used them to decrypt the drive to recover data. This was done from Disk Utility and appeared to be successful until I rebooted. This was done firewire connected to my 2011 MacBook Pro running Mavericks. The end result is the drive appearing in RED/inaccessible in disk utility and in the running "diskutil cs list" shows the Logical Volume Group "offline" and the Physical Volume "online". Oddly the Logical Volume itself is gone. Below is some output from some diskutil commands:

Any ideas or guidance on recovering data from this drive would be greatly appreciated.
Thank youI'm having a similar problem with FireVault and a USB drive. I formatted and encrypted a USB drive using Disk Utility. I set the password and saved it on my home computer's keychain. Now I'm having problems with FV recognizing the password on other computers.
This morning I mounted the drive and entered the PW with no problem on a computer. I ejected the disk and later remounted it on the same computer. When I was prompted to enter the password, FV paused and grayed out for about 30 sec then rejected the password. If I do the same thing and enter any other password, it is rejected immediately. Not sure what is going on. I've tried it on several computers and it does the same thing with the password.
I can probably reset the password on my home computer, but worried this will be an ongoing issue. Any advice? Has anyone else encountered this?
thanks

Startup Volume disappeared completely
Hi all. hoping some of you can offer some advice.
My Powerbook G4 has lost it's startup volume. Completely.
I have run every test, tried everything in the book to get it back and nothing. Resetting the PRAM and tthe NVRAM, booting off the install CD, pulling out the battery and putting it back in, running fsck, starting in safe mode, trying to boot with x held down - - - absolutely everything. when I start up the machine normally, I am getting a bleeping croaking sound from the hard drive (yes, I think it has gone - died, even though it is only 14 months old) and the after the grey screen sits for about 5 minutes, I get the old school system 9 finder face/flashing folder icon. If I put the OSX CD in, it will go to the install OSX window (after alot of creaking, abnormal whirring and bleeping) but there is no startup volume to install on, and no startuip volume to repair in disk utility.
As mentioned, I think the Hard drive has failed and died forever, I will be happy to replace it, but just wanted others thoughts in case I have missed something. there is nothing on the HD I need to keep and a fresh one would probably do some good! In 10 years with macs I have never coome across this before!
I currently have a 100GB HD Machine is 1.67ghz + 2 GB Ram if anyone has any suggestions as to the type of hard drive brand I should buy please let me know. I will be doing the install myself.
One other thing. The machine worked fine until a week ago. The previous owner (i only just got it from a friend) dragged the applications folder plus some other folders off the machine and then it wouldn't start up - in case that gives any hiints as to why this happened.)
cheers
amandaAmanda: If you are able to start the PB up in any way at all without a bootable CD or DVD inserted or a bootable external drive connected, then your hard drive isn't completely dead yet, and your OS isn't entirely hosed.
Starting up from a CD or DVD always produces lots of noises that the hard drive doesn't — those are normal for an optical drive. If you hear lots of unfamiliar noises when starting up from the internal hard drive (in Safe Mode, for example), or if you aren't able to start up from the hard drive at all, then the HD is either on the brink of total failure or already dead.
There are so many drives on the market today, and they are so similar and, in most cases, so inexpensive compared to two or three years ago, that it's very hard to recommend one in particular. Your original-equipment drive was 5400 RPM, and you'll want to replace it with a 5400 or 7200 RPM unit. Drives are currently available in sizes up to 160GB, and your last-generation Aluminum Powerbook can use any of the available sizes. Best current bang-for-the-buck deals are in the 80-120GB range; you still pay a considerable premium for a 160. The larger the drive's cache and the higher its rotational speed, the quicker it will be. A 7200 RPM drive will be slightly noisier and use slightly more energy than a 5400, but the differences are remarkably small.
Assuming you're in the USA, good places to survey the marketplace for new 2.5" ATA-6 (ATA 100) laptop hard drives are ZipZoomFly, NewEgg, and OWC.
People have widely disparate preferences between the offerings of different manufacturers. I've had good luck with IBM/Hitachi and Fujitsu drives, and bad luck with Western Digital. Your mileage may vary, as they say. Good luck! -
4S ringer volume disappears with Bluetooth
My 4S volume intermittently turns itself down when I start up my car, I have Bluetooth. I use 3G. It doesn't do it any other time. I've checked Settings, the volume is on max but when I use the side buttons to see the ringer volume, it shows at zero. I'm missing calls. I've had my phone replaced with a new one but the problem still exists. Any ideas on how to stop this?
Try cleaning the charging dock with a cotton swab of rubbing alcohol--or you can use a blow dryer to blow into the charging dock as well.

Re: volume disappears 4s possible solution
I used a small brush with a little alcohol to clean the plug area and earphone area then allowed them to dry a couple minutes. Then plugged the earphone plug back and forth into the connection hole a few times then plug the phone back and forth into the charger after cleaning, then while plugged in open your music and the volume bar will be back. It worked for me!!
iphone5s wifi is **** slow since I updated it to ios 8.0.2 It isn'tmy router because my laptop and PC
are fine.my wifi is working fine even on Samsung Galaxy s3. I am able to stream movie on youtube on S3 but not on Iphone 5s. even whats up messages take long to download on iphone 5s.
I have tried the following on the devices and nothing has changed!
Turned Wifi on and off
Forget Wifi network add again
Reset Network Settings
Erase all content and restore from iTunes backup
Erase all content and restore as a new device
Disabling WiFi in location services >does nothing
Disabling location services entirely >does nothing
Changed the network type to WPA in my router to Personal or MixedWPA2/WPA -PSK. Rebooted router.
I amfrustrated beyond belief! I shouldn't even have to try all these things and I'm even more frustrated the only way I can use my devices is by pulling from my Airtel cellular hotspot and use my data!
This needs to get fixed ASAP!
It seems like there is no Solution for IOS 8.0.2 Wifi Problem. We have to wait until apple release new update that may fix it. -
I am editing a very simple project. And I notice on some clips my Clip Volume is gone. Some it has the yellow line. Some it doesn't. I tried selecting it on left of track but it still doesn't show up - even though the sound plays back perfectly. Any suggestions?
You mean selecting "Show Clip Volume" on the left of the timeline for the audio track - yes i do!! but nothing shows. no yellow line :-(

Cannot boot. volume disappeared from boot option after Disk Utility (GUI) repair
I have a 13-inch MBP with the latest OS X version.
Problem
Yesterday, I went to the Recovery Mode and performed Repair on my boot volume. I was not having a problem, but I just wanted to verify and repair as a regular maintenance. The Disk Utility said some kind of error (I cannot remember, but something about EFI?), and I cannot start my computer since then (question mark folder icon when I try to boot).
I have tried the following
I tried to recover the drive by going into the Recovery Mode, but when I press Option key for boot options, I just have an empty grey screen have no option(not even the recovery volume). I have also tried to enter into the Single User Mode, but it goes straight back to the question mark folder icon. Just in case, I performed PRAM and SMC reset, but still no dice.
Next, I tried to boot with Command+R pressed, and the computer went into Internet Recovery Mode, which works fine. Then, I went to the Disk Utility, and my SSD is on the list with the volume that has OS X(only volume on the entire disk except recovery volume, etc). I use FileVault2, and I can unlock the volume and mount it without any problem. When I do Verify Disk, it says that the volume appears to be OK. Also, performed fsck using Recovery Mode's Terminal, and it still says that "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK," the exact same message that I got from GUI disk utility. I also tried to unlock and set the volume as a start-up disk, but I still get the question mark folder icon.
If you need further details, please let me know! Please save me!Hello jukim,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Great troubleshooting done so far. Since you're still booting to the flashing question mark, even after repairing the disk, the next step would be to reinstall OS X.
