Volume icon is gone

I am running Microsoft 7 on my Toshiba Satellite L755-S5256, with Firefox. My volume/sound icon has disappeared. I'm not having luck understanding the fixes I've found online. Can someone help me?

Jerry, your answer is clear but I am stupid. When I click on the attachment you sent I get a screen with the below, written two times. Don't see anything I can change from txt to reg. I clicked on the down arrow upper right on my Firefox screen, and nothing shows in new downloads and nothing shows with txt extension in "all downloads". Do you think you could try again for me and my half-witted brain? [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

• I deleted all adobe products and then re-installed them. But now I have no volume icon in videos

I have everything fine in Mozilla Firefox but in internet explorer. My internet explorer is up to date. I have windows vista business. You guys have helped me get the adobe products already.
Quick catch up. Everytime I went to adobe.com to get something it would NEVER istall. So I had tech support from you guys hook me up with the download links that worked. They all worked great. They all show up in control panel--programs. But in internet explorer I can play videos, but can't here them because the volume icon is GONE.
Please help me once again and thank you for your efforts.

Please provide some details, e.g. your Flash Player version, and a link to a site with no volume controls.

• HT4061 I did an update n now all my icons are gone?

I was doing an update and now all my icons are gone. The phone is charged and has a signal. I can change the volume but it doesn't receive calls and I can't seem to shut it off. Help!

Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone restarts itself, usually about 10 seconds time. If this does not help, I would try to restore the iPhone. On computer open current iTunes, connect iPhone to computer with Lightning Cable. Hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Then click the Restore button of iTunes. If there is problem after this, make Genius reservation or arrangements for service and take or send to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

To enable the display of the Volume icon. Right click in the task bar near the time display and you will get a pop up menu. Click on properties. Under system icons to always show, check volume. Click Apply. Also, if you don't want inactive icons to be hidden, make sure that box is not checked.

I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.

Have you tried giving it a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple let go and let it reboot and see if htat helps.

• The icons in the bookmark tool bar are blank and the text that use to be below the icon is gone. I now have to cursor over the blank icons to see the text and the one I want. Can the icon/text customization be returned?

In the Navigation Toolbar, the icons "Back", "Forward" etc. show the small icon and the descriptive text below the Icon. My Bookmark Toolbar use to have the same icon/text format but at some point, possibly a browser update, that changed. Currently, I do have a visible Bookmark Toolbar BUT the icons do not show the website icon, as previously, and the text below each icon is gone. I an cursor over each icon and the text becomes visible next to the icon. This is a bit of a pain to find a bookmark. Can I do a customization to return to the icon/text format.
Was this changed because browser users requested this option, or was it an internal decision.? If the later why make such changes when not requested?

That wasn't a change in Firefox. It sounds like something is broken in your Firefox installation, or you are misunderstanding the different between the Bookmarks Toolbar and the other Toolbars.
In the Bookmarks Toolbar the text appears next to the website icon, not below the icon as with the other two Toolbars, and it's not switchable between text and no text as with the other Toolbars. With both the bookmark icon and the Bookmark name missing, something is broken in your installation. You need to do a little troubleshooting.
Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
If not, see this:
If your problem isn't related to an extension, your bookmarks data base file (places.sqlite) is probably corrupt.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locked_or_damaged_places.sqlite
Be aware that if you delete the "places.sqlite" and similar files, your bookmark website icons won't automatically appear (the JSON backups don't have that icon data) when you restart Firefox and the places.sqlite is rebuilt using the backup data file, but the icons should be saved the first time each bookmark is used for the first time.

• No Sound from Mac Pro, however, volume icon moves up and down

Hello, I was using my 12 month old Mac Pro last night and it worked fine with sound as normal. When I powered it up today there is no sound coming from my monitor, but the volume icon moves up and down when I press the keys? I've checked in the Preference sound file and everything is set ok? I googled this problem and some people have suggested that there should not be a 'red' light showing in the digital connection on the back? However, I can see a red light, I've tried using my headphones in the front mini-jack and nothing? I disconnected the monitor audio cables restarted the Mac, there was then sound as normal if I used the sound keys. I re-connected the audio cable and it continued to play sound for 5 minutes or so, then stopped working again?

I have a problem with my Powerbook automatically muting. If you read the posts, there seem to be a lot of people having this problem and no one can explain or help.

• HT4085 The volume icon won't leave the screen and I can't seem to reset the volume. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My iPad2 will not clear the volume icon from the screen no matter what I do. I've reset the ipad and nothing I do will make that icon go away and I can no longer control the volume. Am I missing something here, or does this warrant a trip to the Apple store?

The volume icon on the screen means that the pad thinks you are pressing the volume rocker on the side. Make sure that it is not being pressed by a case, or a dent, or anything else. Make sure it rocks back and forth freely without getting stuck.
If it moves freely, and if you have already done a full reboot, then a trip to the store may be in order.

I just had the same problem. Took the first unit back and the problem is still occuring on the second one. I solved it by setting up again with the USB, but it keeps dropping out every few days.

• Sharepoint Volume Icons on Desktop - How to?

Hi All,
I have a few XP Windows boxes, a Tiger box, and a new Snow Leopard box connect to an Xserve (Tiger Server) and Xserve RAID. With the XP and Tiger boxes, I was able to automount the shared Tiger Server/RAID volumes at login...on the Tiger box, the AFP Volumes appear on the desktop (added as login items) and on the XP boxes, just drive mapped the volumes. Well, with the Snow Leopard box, I added the volumes as login items, but I can't seem to get a simple AFP volume icon on the desktop - when logging in, the volumes are mounted and opened as windows in the finder.
Any way to get icons for the volumes to appear on the desktop as was possible in Tiger?
Thanks!

go to finder preferences->general and check the box to show connected servers on the desktop.

• Why can;t I see the volume icon in the bottom rught corner, and have no volume

I have lost the volume and the volume icon is not in the bottom right hand corner
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== yeaterday

Go to (Windows) Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices.
See if you can find a box there to check for placing the icon in the taskbar/system tray. Also see if there is a "Mute" and be sure it is unchecked. Look at your volume setting; usually a slider. Explore the tabs on that panel and look at the settings. Don't change settings if you are unsure.

• Preview icon was gone from dock

Hi everyone
I have a problem with Mountain Lion. When I opened a pdf documents with Preview, it worked fine. After I closed the document (without quitting Preview) then I clicked on desktop, the Preview icon was gone from the dock. But when I opened Force quit menu, the Preview app was still on.
What should I do? It didn't happen before
Thanks

Right. This is how Applications are supposed to work. So you want Preview to behave the same, but in your situation it is disappearing from the Dock even though its clearly still running in the background (ie, as is evident when you open the force-quit window)?
This could be a problem with the Dock's settings, or those for the Preview application itself.
If you create a new user account for testing purposes (in the Users & Groups system preferences) and log into that account, does the same problem happen when running Preview?

• Annoying volume icon in the middle of my display.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro S300-S2504. Whenever I touch the volume knob (on the very front middle of the laptop so it gets touched all the time by accident) it puts a large volume icon in the middle of my screen.
I have a co-worker who has the same laptop and his doesn't have this "Feature".
How do I get rid of this thing??

Try a reboot - hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons together for a minimum of 15 seconds.

• My volume icon has been on my screen since yesterday, and won't go away! It is in the way of my reading! How do I get it to go away??

Hi there.. need some help with my iphone 4. I was using mapquest on a road trip yesterday, and the volume icon showed up on my screen, and now won't go away. The volume buttons work (increase/decrease volume), but the volume bar no longer corresponds to the increase/decrease in volume. I can't figure out how to make the volume icon go away. It is superimposed on other apps so it makes reading (e.g. mail, news) annoying since I have to read around the icon. Can someone give me some advice on what to do? Thanks!

Have you tried turning your phone off and back on?
Reset the phone hold the home button and the sleep button in until the phone turns off ignore the "slide to power off" message and keep holding the buttons, the phone will reboot
