Volume indicator / buttons problem on iPhone 4

I am experiencing a weird problem ever since I got my iPhone 4. The problem is that the Ringer Volume Indicator keeps popping up on the screen without touching any buttons. When it happens I can only either decrease or increase the volume - only one button functions.
I tried restoring, updating, resettings, and almost everything else but nothing worked.
It works fine for a couple of hours then the problem appears, but after a while everything seems to go back to normal and so on and so forth.

I don't know if it's a hardware or software problem.

I thought so in the beginning, but the problem is not permenant. It happens frequently and every time it behaves differently.

It just happens for several time, then everything is back to normal for a certain time.

iPhones do not have an international warranty. Warranty is valid only for the country of purchase. This is most likely because different countries require different iPhone models. Not reasonable to expect all countries to maintain stock for all models.

Yes go to settings, general, accessability and turn on assisive touch. A little square will appear, click it click more
(the arrow) and select volume up. For more information tell me.

Home button problem in iphone 3g 3.0

After upgrading my iphone 3g to 3.0 software, the home button has become so unresponsive, i have to click it 6-10 times sometimes to awake it. I mean what is it, dont you check the update before making it available to public, i mean its annoying, my 2 other friends have same problem as mine, they are on iphone 3g too. even 3.0.1 behaves the same way. comeon folks, become professional, kindly fix this thing in next firmware release.

I had exactly the same problem - I bought my iphone 3gs last week, upgraded it and had the 'home button' problem. I tried all the fixes - restarting, resetting to factory settings, reloading update, etc. Then, a few days later, it all sorted itself out - no idea what happened, but since then my home button has been working perfectly! I have a feeling the factory reset and reload of update might have been the one that eventually did the trick...but since then, touch wood, it has been working perfectly. I would suggest trying the factory reset and see if that helps...make sure you back up first though!

HP Dv7t Volume Slider Button Problem............?

Hello, i own a Hp Dv7t Notebook, in the past week my laptop has been acting differnet, My promblem starts with the volume slider button. The volume slider button is located at the top of my notebook and is touch sensitie when you run your finger over it. Before my problem the button when used would adjust the volume and make a "clicking" sound while displaying a window showin g the current volume level......Now, for some reason the button doesnt work in the same fashion as before......now when u use it the button makes no clicking sounds nor displays a windows that it used to, this problem is rather small but it has also enabled my volume to be lower than normal.......but i must say that the button does still work, it adjusts the volume as it should but doesnt do the other things..........i am computer literate and do no how to fix many of my system malfunctions, but this one has me stumped........Sorry for such a long post but i would really appriciate some help, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

It sounds like my problem was very similar to tlee's.

When tech support couldnt fix it I asked for the number to call and return my laptop. Finding that thread changed my mind.

My phone no longer rings when someone is calling, it just vibrates. The alarm will still produce sound & I get the sound notification for email. I have reset it, messed around with the settings, and switched the side mute button on & off. It seems to be the side volume buttons because I can not "decline" an incoming call by pushing them either. Anyone have a solution? If it is mechanical anyone know how much it costs to fix?

No. I am hoping Apple see's the light and fixes the OS. Makes me think an Android is in my future.

Mute button problem on iPhone 4S

The mute button on the side of my iPhone 4S isn't working. The button still turns on and off, but I don't see the mute notification (the volume button with the slash through it) and the sound remains on, even when it's supposed to be in silent mode. Is anyone else having this issue, or have suggestions on how to fix this?

You can try a backup and restore. If it still does not work then you will need to have the Apple Store look at it.

I'm having problems with my lock button for my iPhone4 . I need to press real hard to get it to lock or turn off / turn on.
How can I fix it? Or; How much would it cost for apple to repair it?

Make an appointment at the local genius bar ro call Apple Support. If your iphone is defective, then they will replace it.

IF it is a manufacturing defect and you bought the device from Apple or an authorized Apple retailer, then take it into Apple.

Volume up button is stuck on iPhone 4S! Is this a hardware problem?

I could really appreciate some help. Bought my iPhone 4S 32gb in Zurich exactly a month ago and live in Greece. There is no apple store here. I wish there is a solution. The volume down button works just fine but the up/+ button is completely stuck. Have done reset but didn't help...

Any solution for "Volume Up" button on iPhone 4 being stuck?

My wife's iPhone 4 8GB is less than 2 months old. She turns the volume down when we are in church, and this past weekend, she noticed when she went to turn it back up, the volume up button seemed to be stuck/jammed. We took it to our local Apple store where the tech rep, Lauren, looked it over and said that she couldn't fix the button by itself. She told us to go home and back everything up to iTunes/iCloud and then come back and they would replace the phone. We made an appointment and went back two mornings later. We told Dan that Lauren had examined the phone and told us the button was broken and that after backing it up, they would replace it. He took the phone and a few minutes later, told us that the phone must have been exposed to moisture because the indicator in the headphone jack was pink. Because of this, he said, he couldn't do anything to help us. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. My wife and I both feel that if Lauren had pointed that out, we would have accepted it and moved on. However, we made the appointment and the trip to the store to be told otherwise. (note: the phone sat at home between visits to the store, so the supposed moisture exposure didn't happen during that time).
Now that I've gotten the backstory out, has anyone experienced a similar problem and, if so, is there a fix? The rep acknowledged that it is very unlikely that physical jamming of the button was caused by moisture, but that his hands were tied because of it. We appreciate any and all feedback.

Thank you for that Linda.h. What I know is that I did not break any policy. I never jailbroken my phone since day 1, no water damage nor fall. The technician called my friend early this afternoon and asked me to pay 600 Saudi Riyals (more or less $180) to fix it and because they said that the sim card was stocked in the phone. I told my friend that the problem is not the stocked sim card. The problem is the volume button.
I might just take my phone and wait for iOS 5. I read on the post in Youtube (with the same problem) that his phone got okay after one week without doing anything. I will not spend so much time again with them.

My battery problem woes continues to persist. Yesterday, I had about 85-90% battery life in the morning. A couple hours later when I looked at the phone it was down to 65%. At that point, I shut off wi-fi, bluetooth, and background app refresh. I received one call shortly after that. The call lasted about two minutes. My battery was now down to 40%. Another hour later, down to 16%! Here's the kicker: I plugged in the phone to a charger and it jumped to 65% in a matter of minutes. I unplugged the phone and within a couple of hours it was back down to around 30%. I plugged it in again and within 10 minutes it was up to 75%.
At first glance it looks very much like a hardware issue. However, I never had this problem until I upgraded to 7.0.4. Also, the above battery roller coaster ride isn't a constant. That is, it seems that only sometimes this happens. So...I'm thinking it's either an app running in the background eating up juice (though I have Background App Referesh turned off) or the iOS is buggy.

More than likely, yes - via a 3rd party repair shop that works on iPhones.
Not by Apple. Apple does not offer a menu of repair services except for replacing the battery when the iPhone is no longer under warranty. If under warranty, the iPhone would be exchanged under warranty for such a problem. Apple also offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price, which pays for an exchange at a discounted price off the full retail sales price - a like for like exchange. Same model/color/storage capacity.

Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
